however, as we go into the afternoon, more of a sun and clouds mixture as we saw before and temperatures much the same as well. there's the golden gate bridge on. the only difference with today is we don't have the air aloft. it's as dry as it was from yesterday put that little addendum in there. there is that chance of seeing a little isolated sprinkle. we can't rule that out but more substantive, if you will, up in tahoe. they actually are looking out for some flash flooding for today is a possibility over the next day due to some of the heavier thunder showers. they've had and that are in the forecast. once we get some daytime heating now at the surface, there's our onshore winds. you will notice most readings in the single digits, but some double digits get around the carquinez strait and that will be driven by some inland heating as well. temperatures in the middle 50's for right now. some upper 50's well east. 57 for nap and 54 for santa rosa. here's the breakdown for you again. sun and clouds mixture a little bit better job on the sunshine temperatures for highs only into the modest 70's. we do see a minor warm-up happening this week. we'll have more

details in your long range forecast as well coming up, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> now to developing news, a mass shooting in san francisco's mission district sent 9 people to the hospital friday night as kron four's amanda hari explains. people in the area are still on edge. >> after 9 people were shot near 24th and treat avenue friday night. people are cautiously going back to their daily routines, had cut indian restaurant owner harry saying says he was working in the kitchen when the shooting happened to her. the pop. >> just a couple minutes later, we heard people screaming outside seeing says he waited a few minutes before you went to see what was happening when he did. it was still chaos when outside and there people screaming running all over the place. he closed his restaurant shortly after the shooting but reopened as usual saturday. i'm definitely going to be. >> looking was going but yeah, and there's a nervousness. but at the same time, i mean, you've got to do thing. you know, it my shop and have to

isolated and targeted in san francisco amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> police chief bill scott called the violence on the city's streets an acceptable writing on social media that people should feel safe to go out. and san francisco without fear of being victims of gun violence. former house speaker nancy pelosi also reacting to the news sharing san franciscans are praying for those wounded in last night's horrific shooting. thanks to our first responders and medical professionals. no lives were lost. pelosi adding in her statement that gun violence must come to a net. in the south bay. the man accused of going on a homicidal rampage across 2 south bay cities is scheduled to be back in court. kevin parker on a refused to appear in court twice already last week. he is accused of killing 2 people in san jose by running them over with a car and then stabbing and killing another person in milpitas. he also faces carjacking charges. the suspect's attorney told the judge it was, quote,

privileged information as to why their client was not in court. in fairfield, first responders rescued a man, 2 dogs and a pet snake from a 2 alarm fire early saturday morning. it happened around 11:00am on hillside drive at a 2 story home. fire crews say the man was rushed to a local trauma centr. unfortunately a cat died in the blaze. the fire caused $400,000 worth of damages. crews say it appears to have been accidental. happening tomorrow, the nevada state legislature continues its debate over the a's proposed locks but las vegas stadium, a special session was called last week to discuss the proposal. no decision was reached. the team is asking the state to spend nearly 400 million dollars in taxpayer money to help the team build a new 1.5 billion dollar stadium. sources close to the matter tell kron 4 news amendments are being added to the proposal to deal with the concerns of several nevada senators. these changes will likely have to be approved by the a's organization before an

amended bill is voted on. if the senate does vote to approve the stadium proposal tomorrow, it moves on to the nevada assembly for a full hearing and a vote. if the senate rejects it, it would seem to be game over for an a's las vegas stadium. >> we'll be following that story closely and happening right now, a stretch of i-680, is closed for road repairs. a 3 mile stretch of the southbound lanes. >> from sunol boulevard to couldn't road are shut down during the closure. all northbound lanes will stay open. repair work is scheduled to be done early monday morning. happening today, the city of funnel host its first ever pride event. it starts at noon at fernandez park and last until 3 this afternoon, you can expect music, arts and crafts and food vendors earlier this month we spoke with pinole's mayor about this event. >> as the first openly mayor of the city of pinole, i'm really proud to encourage our residents to come out and and really honor write the history and also the future of pride

tomorrow. before we start to finally start to run out of deeper moisture with this now it is impacting us a little bit aloft and let's run through this real quick here. again, the lower level moisture that we're dealing with here in the home front that starts to mix out, firing up in the mountains. you'll see by the afternoon and tahoe. and then it comes over the central valley. it kind of sprays us. but more importantly, why a stop that here for tomorrow morning is the return of our typical moisture so we can get maybe a couple all of this is a possibility. but the bigger issue is this moisture coming in from the coast is very a stabilizing factor. it's damp. it's cold keeps the atmosphere somewhat stable. this is more unstable air mass there. yeah. a little bit of heating in the first to go nuts and that's where we're starting to see that activity happening in the mountains, which repeat, again tomorrow. that's why the flash flood watch is still in effect until monday night about 09:00pm there. all right. so once we're done with that, that low starts to drift to the south and by tuesday. yeah, we're doing our same drill, but we'll see the sun pop out quicker throughout the

>> good morning 7.29. this sunday. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. let's start this half hour off with a look at the forecast in davis starting off to be quite chilly. >> that is good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody will called kind of mild as we get into the afternoon. you know, we have plenty of sunshine and some clouds mixture there with the temperatures somewhat subdued. here's the progress on the fog lifting east bay shoreline. not bad. we still left over some cloud cover right above. it is just starting to mix out and we're not as dry aloft as we were from yesterday. however, one of the things kind of work in our favor, this just kind of a live shot of what we're doing right now in terms of cloud cover and radar and all that stuff. as you can see, we're not cut. covered up with the bright white clouds that usually they upper level clouds, mid level clouds and so forth really piled on top of us. this is all this marine layer will moisture kind of mixing out as

clouds mixture expected. we're in the mid to upper. if these for the most part ox already racing ahead at 63 there. we've seen some folks, a son already. 57 going on for san jose. and 56. meanwhile for san francisco at the ballpark versus the cubs today, 105, game time. little bit earlier. temperatures bumped up a little bit near about 60 sun and clouds mixture but breezy and chilly west southwest wind at 15 and for the day ahead again, you get that sun and clouds mixture. once we take care of this by the afternoon, 74 looks like by 2 o'clock. and now into next week. it looks like us flavor of summer coming back as we get to next weekend. we'll have a look at the long-range forecast along with the 4 zone to stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. and this just in. police are investigating an overnight shooting in san francisco. it happened just before midnight on ocean avenue officers arrived on scene, they found 2 men and a woman suffering from

gunshot wounds. all 3 were rushed to the hospital. no word yet on their condition this morning. we have reached out to police for more information and we'll keep you updated >> and over a gavin newsom officially announce his run for the white house. speculation is brewing after his latest push for gun reform. our nic smith has the story. >> this will guarantee states as well, ability to enact commonsense gun safety while leaving the second amendment intact and respecting america's gun owning tradition. is this video just a push to adopt a new constitutional amendment to clear the way for gun reform or is it the subtle launch to a presidential campaign? the splashy promoting california governor gavin newsom's campaign for democracy may seem like a run of the mill at for a pro gun reform campaign. but many wonder whether it's a signal that newsom may throw his hat in the ring to challenge president biden in the 2024 democratic primaries.

the push for 28 constitutional amendment isn't the only some may be considering a presidential run in recent weeks. the governor has hit the road for a red states speaking tour where he's encouraged democrats to get mere aggressive fighting republicans in the national culture wars. >> and pick fights with republican governor greg abbott and ron desantis. ron desantis is nothing more than a bully. earlier this week, newsom took his burgeoning feud with desantis to a new level calling the 2024 republican presidential candidate a, quote, small pathetic man after the florida governor sent a plane full of migrants to sacramento. but just because they're smoke doesn't mean there's fire so far. newsom's office has steadfastly denied that the governor is even considering running against president biden in 2024. more. so it's not evident he could even win his home state. if he does decide to run. in fact, a march quinnipiac university poll found that 70% of california voters don't want

american changing the way we fly and even send packages in the mail that touches you. this has more. >> officials at a federal prison medical cener in north carolina found unabomber. ted kaczynski unresponsive in his cell early saturday morning. the 81 year-old was serving 4 life sentences plus 30 years in connection to a series of 16 bombings. 3 people died. and 23 were injured after kaczynski's bombs went off at various universities and airplanes, earning him the unabomber nickname. he mailed his first bomb to a professor at northwestern in 1978, injuring a police officer handling the device. kaczynski's case finally made it to the fbi's desk in 1979 after a failed attempt to detonate a bomb on a commercial flight. his bombs killed a sacramento computer store owner, a pr executive in new jersey and a lobbyist for the logging industry in california. all over a nearly 20 year time period. he

seeking your help solving a 22 year-old cold case on 6/10/2001 maria show was shot and killed outside a downtown palo alto nightclub. she suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. she was standing with a group of people on the sidewalk when it happened, a weapon was never found. if you have a tip, you are urged to please call palo alto police. and we now know the identity of a man killed in san jose one week ago. the santa clara county coroner's office says landrieu belong did died after being stabbed. a suspect. christie herrera is now behind bars without the option for bail. a motive is under investigation. in the east saturday morning crash left one woman dead and 2 men with major injuries. the crash happened around 04:00am on i-880, in hayward. chp says 2 cars stopped in the far left-hand lane instead of safely moving onto the shoulder. and that's when a

swimming to the shore of little marina green as we speak. 2000 athletes from all over the world were carefully carefully selected take part in this triathlon right here in san francisco. the escape from alcatraz triathlon is packed as one of the world's most challenging multi sporting events in the world. there's 3 parts of this race. a triathlon starts with a 1.5 mile swim from alcatraz island to the francisco bay. the race continues with an 18 mile bike ride out to the great highway in through the golden gate park then ends with 8 mile run through the golden gate national recreation area, finishing here at marina green. there are 12 pro athletes that was start first. they have started about 15 minutes ago. the race started at 7.15, around noon. they should be awarding those medals will be on top of that. the roads in the area as well have been altered a bit for this triathlon. so you can expect some possible delays as well. back to you. florida,

statement that gun violence must come to an in the south, say the man accused of going on a homicidal rampage across 2 south bay cities is scheduled to be back in court this week. kevin parker owner refused to appear in court already twice last week. he is accused of killing 2 people in san jose by running them over with a car and then stabbing and killing another person in milpitas. he also faces carjacking charges. the suspect's attorney told the judge it was, quote, privileged i formation as to why their client did not appear in in fairfield, first responders rescued a man, 2 dogs and a pet snake from a 2 alarm fire early saturday morning. it happened around 11:00am on hillside drive at a 2 story home. fire crews say the man was rushed to a local trauma centr. unfortunately a cat died in the blaze. the fire caused $400,000 in damages. crews say it appears to have been accidental. happening tomorrow, the nevada state legislature continues its debate over the a's proposed las vegas stadium. a

special session was called last week to discuss the proposal, but no decision was reached. the team is asking the state to spend nearly 400 million dollars in taxpayer money to help the team build a new 1.5 billion dollar stadium. sources close to the matter tell kron 4 news amendments are being added to the proposal to deal with concerns of several nevada senators. those changes likely will have to be approved by the a's before an amended bill is voted on. if the senate does vote to approve the stadium proposal tomorrow, it moves on to the nevada assembly for a full hearing and a vote. if the senate rejects the measure, it would seem it would be game over for an a's las vegas stadium. we'll be following that closely happening right now. a stretch of i 6.80, is closed for road repairs. a 3 mile stretch of the southbound lanes from sunol boulevard. tuchman road are shut down and during this closure all northbound lanes will remain open. repair work is scheduled

moisture bubbling up from the south has been kind of the story over the last about 48 hours. here it is in kind of still make it out a little bit. its biggest impact, of course, up in the mountains that up sloping event. all you got to think about it is the vertical profiles, the atmosphere because the higher levels and terms of the clouds precipitate out in terms of rain. sometimes thunder showers with all of that, too. and it's very, very common as part of the world. and that in the summer months. so it kind of a hint of that and we're getting some of naturally act of moisture from the southern latitudes due to situation set up. so here's how it looks like in the next 48 hours. we take care of our local moisture here were pretty good. but the thunder showers up in the mountains. you will notice and the marine layer comes back again overnight as you'll notice. then tomorrow we do the same thing again, which is why up in tahoe, the flash flood watch they have posted that's going to be around until tomorrow at 09:00pm. after that point an a for this moisture starts to slide to the south. it's not going to be as much of a player, but you still can probably count on a few afternoon showers even in the forecast for tuesday up there

everybody. we're still going to go shooting through some of that. fog is kind of lifted right above us of the ground. >> and we are getting some cloud cover coming up from the south a little bit, too. that's more problematic. but this marine layer moisture looks like it's starting to mix out. here's the shot from san jose state and you can see kind of the cloud cover and trench there. overcast not going to last all day is going to the morning hours. but there's the bright white so was talking about before that. some of that moisture is coming up from the south. so that's a little bit thicker harder to kind of mix out a little bit. and you see the lower level moisture off towards the east. meanwhile, the temperatures upper 50's line up the east bay shoreline. we're up to 65 for antioch mid-fifties cover most of the bay for now san carlos at 60 with 57 for san jose for the ballpark today. the game is a little earlier in the day. that's a plus. and the sky conditions will be pretty good 105, game time. temps at around 60. they're gone approach 60 and then slide back down again late in the afternoon got of sun and clouds, mixture, breezy, chills still at 60. so the the sweaters and coats still 70 going on at high noon by 3

kaczynski's bombs went off at various universities and airplanes, earning him the unabomber nickname he mailed his first bomb to a professor at northwestern in 1978, injuring a police officer handling the device. kaczynski's case finally made it to the fbi's desk in 1979 after a failed attempt to detonate a bomb on a commercial flight. his bombs killed a sacramento computer store owner, a pr executive in new jersey and a lobbyist for the logging industry in california. all over a nearly 20 year time period. he injured nearly 2 dozen more in a pre 9.11, world kaczynski's bombing plot shut down air travel and mail delivery on the west coast in july of 1995. after his threat to blow up a plane in los angeles when the washington post, the new york times published kaczynski's manifesto claiming technology was negatively impacting society. his brother recognized his writing style and tipped off the fbi. it ultimately led to his 1996

know the identity of a man killed in san jose one week ago. the santa clara county coroner's office says landrieu belong died after being stabbed a suspect. christie herrera is now behind bars without the option for bail. a motive is still under investigation. in the east bay. a saturday morning crash left one woman dead and 2 men with major injuries. the crash happened around 04:00am on i-880, in hayward. chp says 2 cars stopped in the far left-hand lane instead of safely moving onto the shoulder. that's when a speeding dodge durango ran into both cars and 3 people. the dodge flipped onto the right shoulder. police say no one was in that car when they got to the scene. in oakland, encampment went up in flames early saturday morning. that blaze spreading to a vacant commercial building. the fire starting on the 2300 block of san pablo avenue. crews responded just after 04:00am. it took about 2 hours for first responders to get the fire under control. no injuries reported. no word yet

on what caused this fire to start a fire in santa rosa killed several animals that happened just before 11 friday morning at a building on ludwig avenue in a rural area with no fire hydrants nearby. fire crews contain the blaze in about 15 minutes. they say the building had been converted into living and storage areas. the fire started because they say of based they say the fire started because of an overloaded electrical circuit. the incident caused about $50,000 in damage. friday's fire killed 3 cats mess. get rescuers managed to save a dog. well, your money this morning, a common economic analysts are hoping to finally see an end to interest rate hikes. survey analysts believe the fed will not raise interest rates at its upcoming june meeting. it is unclear if the rate hikes will resume later this summer. inflation has eased from a high of 9.1%, but is still double the

we have this go around as we don't see as much in the way of cloud cover aloft that we had from yesterday. so she very start. we will start to see some clearing out and mixing out to kind of a mixed bag of some sun and clouds for today. now, there you have the flow pattern. this is pulling up moisture from the south. that's why we have the thunder shower action continuing up there around tahoe. they actually have a flash flood watch that's been posted. they're not your temperature. the look in the upper 50's for the east shoreline. 65 for antioch. 55 for santa rosa. 56 for san francisco. 58 for san jose. again, mixed bag of sun and clouds going on balance today. kind of like what yesterday was like temperatures mid 70's well inland. a couple upper 70's at that, too. and we look for warm up towards the end of the week ahead. but your forecast together for you next. coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> developing news we are following this morning. police are investigating an overnight shooting in san francisco. this happened just before midnight on ocean avenue. when officers arrived on scene, they found 2 men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

all 3 people were rushed to the hospital. francisco supervisor ahsha suffice sharing on social media this morning. the shooting happened at stratus nightclub and all 3 victims are in stable condition. we have reached out to officers and police for more information and we'll keep you updated. and now to developing news. a mass shooting in san francisco's mission district sent 9 people to the hospital friday night as four's amanda hari explains people in the area are still on edge. >> after 9 people were shot near 24th and treat avenue friday night. people are cautiously going back to their daily routines. ted cut indian restaurant owner harry saying says he was working in the kitchen when the shooting happened to her. the pop. >> just a couple minutes later, we heard people screaming outside seeing says he waited a few minutes before you went to see what was happening when he did. it was still chaos when outside and

accused of killing 2 people in san jose by running them over with a car and then stabbing and killing another person in milpitas. he also faces carjacking charges. the suspect's attorney told the judge it was, quote, privileged information as to why their client was not in court. in fairfield, first responders rescued him and 2 dogs and a pet snake from a 2 alarm fire early saturday morning. it happened around 11:00am on hillside drive at a 2 story home. fire crews say the man was rushed to a local trauma sentir. unfortunately a cat died in the blaze. the fire caused $400,000 in damages. crews say it appears to have accidental. happening tomorrow on the nevada state legislature continues its debate over the a's proposed las vegas stadium. a special session was called last week to discuss the proposal. no decision was reached. the team is asking the state to spend nearly 400 million dollars in taxpayer money to help the team build a new 1.5 billion

dollar stadium. sources close to the matter tell kron 4 news amendments are being added to the proposal to deal with concerns of several nevada senators. those changes likely will have to be approved by the a's before an amended bill is voted on. if the senate does vote to approve the stadium proposal tomorrow and moves on to the nevada assembly for a full hearing and a vote. if the senate rejects the measure, it seems it would be game over for an a's las vegas stadium. >> happening right now, a stretch of i-680, is closed for road repairs. a 3 mile stretch of the southbound lanes from sunol boulevard to koopman road are shut down. >> during the closure, all northbound lanes will remain open. repair work is scheduled to be done early monday morning. happening today, the city of pinole host its first ever pride event. it starts at noon at fernandez park and last until 3 this afternoon, you can expect music, arts and crafts and food vendors.

good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. but it looks like it's breaking up a little bit as you can check it out. this is a san jose state. meet a lot department providing us the shot here. there you see some of the blues cracking open here. so we're going into that sun and clouds mixture already in this 9 o'clock but working elsewhere throughout the base, we can kind of get kind of deal here for the different types of moisture. we have the cloud cover. meanwhile, the the whites that you see here, that's that mid-level moisture that's being brought up from the south. it's driving the thunder shower action we're seeing in tahoe. but meanwhile, you see kind of like this carpet of the lighter whites out to sea. that's that marine layer that businesses every overnight just spills right across the bay. there. and we get that inversion factor, which we have again today to. but this go around. it's not as dry above us. so it's all a bit more of a challenge to get moving. but we don't yave as much in that way. that mid-level moisture hanging around the immediate bay area going forward on futurecast for we take care of the marine layer, opening up the skies, not bad. there's the thunder

shower action, it does look more broken up than yesterday. but they have a flash flood watch that's been posted up there around tahoe because of some of those afternoon storms that get a localized and very heavy at times. now we're going to repeat this performance again on monday and the watch period does cover monday as well. so we'll have localized problems continue with this flare up again around the immediate bay here. as you can see, things open up nicely by the afternoon hours, too, for today is an addendum. just going to mention that isolate little chance of a thunder shower up in the mountains are our local hills here as a possibility with this low still kind of close by it starts to sink south as we get into tuesday and the remainder of the week, some of the residual moisture will continue to provide some afternoon instability, though, throughout the middle of the week. so considerable cloud switch. you can see it. half moon bay pretty much overcast. cool. slight chance of a thunder shower kind cold and they're just a little mention weekend. it's a flood watch now until 09:00pm tomorrow.

the king, by the way, extend that, by the way, depending on what conditions are and severe thunderstorms that do pop up. there's a warning for that. that's going to be highly localized in the media, too. by the way, stormy afternoons got those temperatures in the lower 60's, although we see a bump in temperatures. midweek, though, then for this week, monday's the scattered clouds, leftovers. then the rest of the week we go into sunday mode. gradual increase in temperatures here partially because the models are still kind of work on what direction o we go in here for the weekend. the general plan as we get a high ridge that builds that usually means a nice warm up and those temperatures try to approach around 90 or so. 63 san francisco afternoon sun after those clouds will start to break up. the ballpark looks pretty good but definitely with temperatures. only about 61 where the sweater coat, 67 for oakland. 74. meanwhile for san jose scattered clouds which it looks like almost that now. highs today. we've got the upper 70's in the far east bay up to the north bay. got 76 or so. santa rosa still got a lot of 60's hanging around here for high still around the bay

and big gathering. oh, it feels so good. i know after the pandemic, we're also happy to finally be back together, enjoying live music. so it's a really exciting time. yeah, we're really excited for the season. how many people are you expecting to come out this year? every week we we have. we have 10 concerts throughout the summer. so it's every sunday and we usually expect about 10,000 people for every weekend. so 80,000 altogether. incredible. yeah. and what can people expect this year this year? you can expect a really amazing lineup. we have incredible art is coming this year ranging from the indigo girls and nico k's. lyle lovett. it buddy guy flaming lips, bob moses. so it's a really diverse array of really fun and also it if you haven't done the stern grove before, it's just an amazing, beautiful outdoor eucalyptus groves. so it's an absolutely beautiful place to see a concert. so it will be a really great season. and how do you decide which artists

perform in the festival every year? because it's quite a diverse group. as as you mentioned. yeah. well, we really want to make sure that there's something for everybody. so we like to pick a really diverse array of musicians. so right now we're actually been planning for 2024. so we're looking ahead. haha. but we want to make sure that there's something for everybody. so if you were to see the lineup, we hope that at least one concert is going to appeal to you. so ok, and all this information is on your website as well. yesterday, grove dot org. and how does admission work? so you have reserve tickets to the show so you can reserve them exactly one month in advance of the concert at 02:00pm on certain grove dot org. but also if you don't get them on that day, i recommended to keep checking back in because we do release thousands of tickets leading up to the show date. so i know some people might get discouraged if they don't get tickets right away. but just keep checking in. i'm sure you'll get tickets and this is family friendly. would you ok? yes, yeah. absolutely. there's a kid zone. there's a lot of fun things that you can do so

good morning. welcome back to the 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. start this half hour with a look at the weather situation brewing outdoors. check in now with day for the latest. >> hey, stephanie, good morning and good morning, everybody. we still have a little bit of that bay area fog. we're still working with trying to mix out some of that cloud cover. but it looks like it's going to nice job, at least in the south bay is what we saw from earlier. this is what it looks like now even improved from just what, 10 minutes ago or something. so you see a lot more blue sky going on. they're trying to come out a little bit. just some leftover scattered clouds here we'll call that in the general forecast here on the satellite and the radar imagery here, you can even see some of the shadows of some of the upper level cloud cover that we've been discussing in terms of that monsoon and the gray stuff. that's all that lower level moisture. the marine layer, the fog, all of that business. and it still looks like there's some pockets hanging out in the east bay and also up to the north bay as well. that's we

expect to kind of mix south. but the problem our air above us is not as dry in the sandwich as it was from yesterday. it's warmer, but not dry are still a little inversion. typically the case. our temperatures in the upper 50's along the east bay shoreline. 68 going on for antioch. 55 for santa rosa. 56 for san francisco. not a lot of movement. we have to wait until we get some of the slowing of the moisture mixed out. so for the ball game today, we'll get those temperatures at about 60. you'll be they're going to heat of the day 105, game time. sun and clouds mixture, breezy and chilly breeze still in their west-southwest winds at 15. so dress the part. here's the breakdown for mixed bag of sun clouds, temperatures well inland. they're pretty much in the 70's for a good chunk of the day ahead. and that will be pretty much the hallmarks of what you can expect the next couple of days. we should be shifting into more heavier sunshine oriented forecast as we get to the middle to latter portion of the week ahead and then warm up in the next weekend. we'll have more in your extended forecast and for zone a bit. stephanie. all thank you. >> well, governor gavin newsom

life sentences plus 30 years in connection to a series of 16 bombings. 3 people died. and 23 were injured after kaczynski's bombs went off at various universities and airplanes, earning him the unabomber nickname. he mailed his first bomb to a professor at northwestern in 1978, injuring a police officer handling the device. kaczynski's case finally made it to the fbi's desk in 1979 after a failed attempt to detonate a bomb on a commercial flight. his bombs killed a sacramento computer store owner, a pr executive in new jersey and a lobbyist for the logging industry in california. all over a nearly 20 year time period. he injured nearly 2 dozen more in a pre 9.11, world kaczynski's bombing plot shut down air travel and mail delivery on the west coast in july of 1995. after his threat to blow up a plane in los angeles when the washington post, the new york times published kaczynski's manifesto claiming technology was negatively

jennifer allow an organizer to tell us more about this race and more about the first place, a runner that just just came in a few moments ago. actually, no absolutely marked or brick is is amazing. he's actually this is his first in san francisco competing an escape from alcatraz triathlon. he's known as a swimmer. so we were making jokes prior to the race like a. >> are you going to come out first in the water? and, you know, i mean, he's definitely a strong swimmer, but he had a really great time. so i couldn't be more delighted to have him in his first escape alcatraz. right? and this is a big triathlon, right? we're talking about 2000 athletes from all over. >> yeah, this is one of the most sort of participates, what in the world and 60 plus countries represented. all 50 states are represented. but in the 2000 participants days that competed today. when you can have a race that represents so many countries and states, it's it's a pretty special event. and i actually

so i spoke with some of the supporters, some family members here to support their loved ones. and this this is a big deal for these for these participants today. >> absolutely. mean, you think about the friends and they've been watching their loved one and their your train of training does take a year-round. it's a year-round >> to celebrate that with the athletes, it's it's a huge achievement. a mean are triathletes today did more and probably me in the last 2 weeks. and i mean, it's a huge, air. and, you know, they're in a very audience that could have bragging rights to say that they've escape from alcatraz. so it's a pretty special thing. it's really great for it to have the friends and family here to support to and the first leg was actually jump of a boat into the water where you actually on that boat at the time. how did that go? >> absolutely. yeah, no, it's definitely it's on the city cruises. the sfl fame ssa about a huge

>> and it is pretty daunting. i guess when you're when you're thinking about coming out of pier 3 and, you know, waiting to just jump off a perfectly good boat into the san francisco bay. but swim can more actually, the weather was sfpd city departments as well as the coast guard and as well as our water safety team. i mean, it's a top notch they did an incredible job just getting over at the top of the water safely allowing them to have yeah, that's a good point, too. i have emergency ambulance vehicles all over the place. just prepared, right? justin kase. yeah. and that's a real true testament working with departments here in san francisco. and it's a extremely coordinated effort between national park service with marine is scott mta rec and park. so this truly is a san francisco event just kind of working through. i mean, the course itself the swim

>> all right. welcome back. we're taking a live look now at walnut creek this morning. a pretty nice when it comes to roadway conditions and also the weather day. >> looks like opening up a bit there in the inland areas. yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. we're still working out here around the immediate bay. here it is the east bay shoreline. it looks like it's it knows what we're saying that it says working that. here's the cloud cover. you have going on right now. we expect to have kind of a sun mixture of clouds and sun going on for this afternoon today. up to tahoe, it could be quite active showers and thunder showers each day might see a little bit more in the way of sun from tuesday into wednesday because by that point, we're

going to be running out of moisture a little bit here. this is being brought up artificially from the south kind of a reminiscent pattern of the monsoon. you see a little rise in temperatures which we're going to see here in the bay area's. well, flash flood watch has been posted there until monday. at 9 o'clock you can have localized severe thunderstorms as well. but those will be popping up here and there and dissipate. so the flash flood watches what's in place right now. our a marine layer is almost gone. and here's the afternoon thunder shower activity. you can see up in the spine over the mountains and then we have the marine layer come back again, mixing out tomorrow, although you can see some of that mid-level moisture streaming on in here. there's a thunder shower action again for monday afternoon. and by tuesday, it looks like it's pretty much dissipated a bit now on the longer range forecast, the thinking here is as we get off to about the middle of the week here say tuesday or wednesday, we'll start to see high pressure build. we can still get our marine layer coming in. that's what the very ground level. but it will start will start to give us a warming trend that we expect by next weekend. that's one scenario

then drive and then yeah. put put pushed all the way down and and feel that stretch in your achilles and as well yet. so if you wear heels a lot, you're going feel you're going to really get tight guess struck the euro calf muscle and achilles tendon. yeah. so this is a really good stretch for you to do after a long day and this is lovely. and is this. what is this thing called this i call it a foot locker. okay. so the opposite motion of that. the dorsey flexion is getting up on your toes. so you also want to get up on your toes because your totes take a lot of the pressure when you're walking and then also raise you, make it a little harder wager, arms on your toes. and that's a really good balance exercise, too, because often times you have to get up on your toes and get things out of the shell for put things up on a do very, very good. so the other thing, if you could

balance. okay. can put the ball i that's a good advice for people that don't have good balance. okay. continue to pull to help with your exercises and just keep it so that you're a little stable use as a stay the mop or whatever you so you're going to. put your arms out and then tip over to the side. and then trying showcase yeah. so could sometimes you're going to get a here here here and then you want to be able to recover, right? if you don't have really good balance, you're going to fall over. so all of these different exercises are meant to help improve our but yes, okay, right. and so you wanted you want to be in a safe spot or you want to be able to hold the counter if you or i have really good balance, which is fine. just build yourself up from where you are, are is is is fine ald then just build up a sign. incredibly impressive. you're

able to balance on one foot on the ball. has that something that you recommend for beginners to do by the way, or they should work up to a work up to this? yes, you know what? you're helping people with the nsa the river giving them encouragement what did work up the and then anyone in sports, you want to be able to balance on one leg and get off balance like okay, ok? now the other thing with walking, lot of people tell me i'm a nice hurt. my hips lot of times. that's because they have week hips, ok? so one of the ways to work on we camps am it's to do these lateral leg raises the one thing i always see is is going up? so when i say do lateral leg braces, it's going up. and when you do that, you're actually working the quad in the hip flexor not this little muscle over here.

you want to make sure >> that your hips or straight think that having headlights on each ship them and then you watch your headlights strict going forward. find yourself turning, then you're not doing it correctly. make sure it's straight out. ok to didn't i guess it probably have young probably have a tendency to point toes yes, yes, i do. yeah. and this you want to put flex, ok? so flex it. i kind of when you go to pilates class, you want to flex? yes, yeah. okay. yeah. and then another for working on those hips. and i don't know when i see someone walking with their feet out like that. that's that's a consequence week. hips they'll fire hydrants. so by so this is kind of flex your just and address it. but
