stephanie lin. it is sunday, june, the 25th and we're covering a lot for you today. let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave spahr payday. stephanie, good morning. and good morning, everybody. well, we're doing the same drill again. the fog in the cloud cover is starting things off. but above us, the air is very, very dry. >> and we should see some breaks in fog clouds going on. even in san francisco. we get into this afternoon right now. again, we're socked in. but again, right above us is that drier air work and there's the onshore wind. it's partly responsible for keeping marine layer here. and it's going to be problematic. still along the coast will still be pretty cloudy through much of the day today. so that's will be looking in on that front. we don't have much this really happening. aloft are some scattered clouds. you can see up there around reno and tahoe bit as far as those winds right now as we speak, most of the single digits. but we do have some double-digit guys out there and we'll see an increase a little bit with winds that will be driven by some of the inland heating going on. and again, because of that around the golden gate and along the coast will continue see that fog kind of get trapped a little bit

there. middle to upper 50's right now along the east bay shoreline and inland as well. we see that in the north bay to 57 going on san jose. so a lot of uniformity trailing a couple degrees from yesterday's numbers now will be opening up inland pretty quickly, as you can see by 11:00am away. we go 63, but cool temps only about 70 by 2 o'clock have no fear. however, summer is just taking some time off. it will be back by the end of the week. we'll have a look at that long-range forecast in the 4 zone as well. stephanie. dave, thank you. >> well, today, thousands of people are expected to hit the streets of san francisco for the annual pride parade. it starts at 10 30 this morning. kron four's tiffany justice reports with a look at what people can expect. thousands of people are expected to be going to the parade, but events have been going on all weekend long. we know >> that the parade is set to start at 10, 30 this morning at beale and market street and at 6 plaza. it's the traditional parade route and should end around 3.30, this afternoon. there are expected

to be 200 contingent set to participate in the parades. and mayor mayor fried will also be there. but sitting at parade makes its way to the city. there will be a lot of road traffic around the parade route. people are encouraged to take public transportation parties offering additional services today for the pride events to transit line or transit service will run. >> 5 line service until 09:00pm with added special event. trains caltrain will also be operating special event trains throughout the morning. also want to go over security tips with you to keep you and your belongings safe. francisco police tell us there at the maximum staffing for the event's reminding people if you see something, say something, if you are driving to the event, do not leave any valuables in your car and as you can expect, there will be a lot of road closures around the parade. >> if you want a full list, you can go online to kron 4 dot com before you head out with 40 to justice kron. 4 news.

>> we spotted a lot of smiling faces at the annual pride run on saturday. just look at that. well, the san francisco front runners hosted this event which started at golden gate park. this year's funds benefited the transgender law sentir. the event ended with an awards ceremony for the top 3 finishers. and adding to the crowds in the city today, giants fans are expected to cheer on the team at oracle park. the giants game starts at 105, bay area officials are encouraging people to take public transit into the city of possible like the golden gate ferry, which is running an extra vote for the game. starting next week. drivers will have to pay more to cross the golden gate bridge tolls go up. this coming saturday on july. first, that toll goes up. $0.35 to 9.75. fast track. passholders. also see a $0.35 increase bringing that total to 8.75. pay. as you go. tolls

will be $9. that's a $0.20 increase. car pooling. still the cheapest option for you at 6.75. also happening on july. first, customers in several bay area. cities can expect a bump up and no water bills. by an average of $0.19 per day. that's an increase of just under 70 bucks a year next year, the utility increases again its prices by another $0.21 per day. the right hikes are part of the utilities. 3 billion dollar plan to upgrade water treatment plants, replace pipelines and rebuild neighborhood reservoirs. the district serves 740,000 customers in the east bay. amarin water. customers start paying more on july. first, the agency increases its rates by 20%. so for example, if your current by monthly bill is $138, it will go up to $170 this saturday rates are expected to keep going up every year for the next 3 years. for people living in

alameda, the alameda public utilities board is introducing a 7% rate increase for electricity. the agency says this will allow them to maintain their financial strength. and now to a developing story. police on friday arrested a suspect in the killing of a beloved oakland baker kron four's. amanda hari spoke with a friend of the victim. >> then the tough journey of of grief and mourning her loss data. pearls says she knew jen angel for 15 years. >> about as long as angel on her own business. angel cakes in oakland, navigating life without angel has been tough for pearls. she says angel fought for social justice and brought people together who are all leaning on each other now in their time of it's been quite magical. >> to get to be around that love and to support each other with love through through

grief and sadness on friday after more than 4 months of investigations, oakland police announced the arrest of ishmael burch in connection with angel's death. police say angel died during a robbery. she was sitting in her car on webster street when someone broke in and grabbed her purse. she got out of her car. >> that she was knocked down and then dragged by the getaway car despite her violent death, pearl says angel would want to see restorative justice. this is an opportunity to honor. >> her. >> that values to show the world that there are alternatives that are potentially much more effective, better human eye is that healing and that don't perpetually cycles of violence. pearl says angel would want the person who robbed her to go to prison. >> and that the money used on incarceration will be better spent rehabilitating people who commit crimes, whether it be social services or housing or jobs, support. there's so

many reasons that people end up in systems of violence that cause more harm and more harm. and for john, i think that she would really want us to refocus where those resources go. pearl says, would want her death to spark a change in the system to have for. >> impetus to have for help push forward a system of healing and accountability that actually could. could benefit many people. >> and that was kron four's amanda hari reporting for us this morning. the suspect is being held without bail and will be in court for his plea hearing on july 14th. he is charged with murder and second-degree robbery in the north bay. police are searching for the suspects involved in a home robbery that left one person injured. this happened around 3.30 friday morning on a thorough circle near seaver drive and highway 101. police say the robbers entered the home and

demanded money. investigators believe this to be a targeted incident. police arrested a man in connection to a gas station robbery in milpitas that happened at the station on south park. the tory a drive around 7 thursday morning. police say the suspect threatened the clerk at gunpoint, getting $600 cash out of the register. there. police later identified the suspects car and arrested the suspect saturday night. he was on federal probation for weapons violations. and in the east bay, a motel shooting in concord leaves one person injured. that incident happening early saturday morning at the premier inn near the intersection of concord and market street. the victim has since been discharged from the hospital. no arrests made at this time. and now to a discovery near the oakland zoo. human remains were found on golf links road around one 15 friday afternoon. police now investigating this as a homicide. no word on the victim's identity or a suspect at this time. happening today,

the mateo county sheriff's office host, a fireworks buyback event ahead of the 4th of july weekend from 10:00am to 5. people can drop off their unused or unwanted fireworks. no questions asked and get up to $75. cash. this will be in the parking lot of the north fair oaks library on middlefield road in redwood city. all fireworks are illegal in unincorporated san mateo county and county and state parks getting caught with these fireworks can result in fines of $2000. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. the message from silicon valley pride officials as they gear up for their celebrations. happening later this summer. >> and in san jose, how the mayor there is responding to concerns of the open air drug markets. and after the break, just a few more days to 4th of july, we break down some of the new laws coming into effect. >> well, we've got all these fall fog clouds hanging around a little bit to start the day,

heating. let's go back to future cast for here. it is in the afternoon. you can see the improvement starting to be felt. although san francisco coastal areas still kind of in a lot of cloud cover and whatever breaks we get again. more fog and cloud cover comes right back. again, as we go into tonight, this game plan is going to be played again for tomorrow and tuesday. but then a switch as we go back to the high pressure building and we won't have that intrusion hanging around so long. we do see a little bit the way a possibility. some showers showing up there in tahoe just a little bit. the typical afternoon evening chance of thunder showers just with energy in the atmosphere. and if you get them, it's just for a couple of hours where the wind will there's the on onshore winds. we've talked a lot about. they're going to continue today tomorrow we'll lose. some of this is the week starts to wear on all the hallmarks of kind. a little summertime. warm up. let's get this. put this together for years. half moon bay expect a lot of that today. fog and clouds afternoon clearing in spots trying to work here. cool with mid 70 60's hanging by the bay. now early into the week. we've got that stubborn

bay coastal fog working in here. still cool 60's for the bay and will work some mid 70's in here and we say midweek, we're talking monday, tuesday, come up with a full start a little bit on monday. we warm up cool off tuesday. then wednesday, we really hit it. summer makes that appearance as we get to the latter portion of next week. and we might start to see some 90's coming in here and that looks to be several locations and maybe even as early as thursday. so we'll see as we get closer. so 2 knowledge, maybe some breaks in the clouds for the city will say 61, san francisco, 64 open 71. meanwhile for san jose, the water geography, it's similar to yesterday. a lot of greens around the days. you can see well inland in the middle 70's. also up to the north bay. 71. meanwhile, for san jose, a chilly 59 half moon bay underscoring a lot of those fog clouds just hanging next couple of days. as you can see, we're kind of in the same type of situation here. temperatures are pretty much settled into the 70's, even well inland. but then changes

start to happen towards the latter portion of the week. we'll take a look at longer range forecast for you and also that for some to stephanie. all right. thank you. >> happening today, it is the final day of competition for the special olympics. northern california summer games. more than 800 athletes from dozens of counties competed in a number of events including swimming tennis and bochy ball and one local university room university is offering up some special programming for the athletes. >> here, santa clara university, also young athletes program for ages 2 to 7 and also healthy athletes program, which we offer free health screenings and end up with our big dance. you have a dj will be over shaw stadium. athletes dance for a couple hours. have a great >> the special olympics organizers launched a new awareness campaign to coincide with this weekend's big event where they are working to redefine what makes these games so special. it's called do something special. that's the name of that campaign. bay

overturn of roe v wade. well, several 1000 starbucks workers are planning to go on strike over the next week in a pride month. protest the union representing the chain's breece to say the regional starbucks managers banned pride decorations at stores in 22 states. workers say it is just one of the company's retaliatory practices targeting union members. but starbucks has denied those claims and accused the union of spreading false rumors. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, ford issuing a recall for one of their cars here. why they are being recalled. and those details coming up.

highway traffic safety administration is investigating a for motor recall. they recalled more than a quarter million of explorer suvs in the u.s. after getting complaints about repairs intended to prevent those cars from unexpectedly rolling away. >> a fort addressing the safety concern by sending out a software update designed to apply the electronic parking brake if the drive shaft fails. but even then they still received complaints about the cars behaving erratically after the repair into complaints. the explorer slams to a complete stop at speeds of 30 to 40 miles per hour or it can lurch into motion. well, the driver was trying to disengage the electronic brake. no injuries reported. the southwest airlines will raise several be starting august 15th. this includes extra charges for pet companions, unaccompanied minors and fees for additional oversized and overweight bags.

afternoon clearing going on even across the bay. and even in san francisco, you know, some folks, a son going on, but it will be a chilly day today, though, for everybody. it's not quite up to its a seasonality here. here's what's going on. the east bay shoreline still covered up by this fog. now the i say the good news a little bit, is that right above us? it's fairly dry. i mean, very, very dry. and so we just get some mechanical motion here in the atmosphere. that's the daytime heating thing. we should start to get some clearing out here. but that's all going to start in london. them kind of work its way back to the bay. then you get aloft here and we do have some scattered clouds. most of those you can see rolling across the central valley there. but on balance looks pretty sunny across most of the state. we've got to upper 50's along the east bay shoreline 60 already antioch mid-fifties up to the north bay. 54 for half moon bay. 57 meanwhile for san jose for the giants today versus the diamondbacks won those 5 game time. temperatures at near 60. so upper 50's. we'll call variable clouds because of break going on this afternoon, breezy and chilly, though, with a west wind 15 with gusts

santa clara county hold a pride flag raising ceremony that event takes place at the county government building on west hedding street in san jose at noon, officials say the event is to celebrate the community's contribution to the country. the county's culture and celebrate the county's a commitment to lgbtq+ rights. cal fire is suspending all burn permits in the north bay. starting tomorrow. residents in napa and solano counties won't be able to burn debris such as branches and leaves outside campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property will still be allowed. cal fire is asking residents to keep a minimum of 100 feet of defensible space around every home and buildings on their property and to be ready to evacuate if needed. this past. record rainfall has helped wine grapes in napa valley thrive. but now the recent cool weather is threatening to keep them from ripening. and this is because the longer the fruit has to stay on the vine, the longer it is exposed to possible. well, possible wildfires in the fall or the risk of that goes up. they

also would be exposed to more rain in the early winter and harvests in the last couple of years have been impacted by wildfires and drought. the state's wine industry generates 170.5 billion dollars annually. city of san jose is cracking down on open drug use and dealing on city streets. this comes after reports of people congregating in front of businesses and apartment homes to buy sell and use drugs in downtown san jose. now the mayor and police chief say those people will be held responsible kron four's gayle ong reports. >> if you come to san jose to deal drugs, you will be arrested and prosecuted. >> mayor matt mahan speaking from downtown san jose in front of this 7.11 store where complaints of people buying selling and using drugs are common. just a few blocks from city hall and san jose state university, the mayor and police chief announcing on saturday that people will be held accountable. yes, we are going to crack down on the

>> drug dealers. we have. so in the working with our partners, whether be the sheriff where district attorney's office to ensure that drugs are taken off the street. but more importantly, those that use drugs. chief anthony mata ads addressing those who use drugs is a complex problem. peek at. >> use the tactics that were used in the 90's, right, that we've change in seeing work again with a behavioral health. the sheriff's office, the district attorney's office to find ways right to hold those that use drugs accountable as well, but also provide them with the help and assistance that they need. >> the mayor says he called for an emergency meeting at city hall this weekend with the police chief undersheriff and invited the santa clara county health department to discuss the drug problem. so in this last budget cycle, i propose concentrating 91 million dollars of spending on those 3 priorities. and we got over 90% of what we asked for because we need to move faster to rebuild the staff all those in our police

department and our fire department. >> we need faster blight response and we have got to build interim housing, get people indoors faster. a crowd gathered to hear what city officials had to say among them, ryan sumi, who lives nearby and my wife and my son, we often will see open drug use and drug dealing and it's really concerning. mayor address your concerns. you know, i'm i think that the way that he talks about enforcing the laws and prosecuting drug use and drug dealing. >> and increasing staffing, his budget. is hopeful. meantime, the public is urged to report any illegal drug activity to san jose police. >> gayle ong kron. 4 news. >> police are looking for 3 people. they believe burglarized a home in brisbane's. officers responded to an alarm on santa clara street thursday night around 9 o'clock. they found a broken window near the back after searching the home. police say took the thieves about 5 minutes to be in and out of the house. and let's take a look at images now that officer shared of 3 people dressed in dark clothes. those

of the suspects there of this is the suspect vehicle that they drove in. officers say which is described as a black bmx bmw x 3. while most new state laws take effect january. first, some go into effect, july 1st, starting next month, california will be the first state in the country to seal criminal records automatically. it will happen 4 years after a sentenced has been completed. and if no other convictions have happened, records of an arrest that does not but do not result in a conviction will also be sealed, but not all criminal records can be sealed, which includes serious and violent felonies and crimes requiring offender registration. 2 bills dealing with homelessness and housing will work together to help build new housing for low and middle income residents. the focus on underused commercial sites that are zoned for retail parking or office space. they also encourage contractors to offer apprenticeships and reinforce wage and health benefits. also

going into effect july. first, a law that requires bounty hunters to be licensed and registered with the state about hunters are people hired by bail bond companies to find those who skip out on their court appearances. other areas covered by the new law's online sellers will have to disclose more information and they will be tougher measures on the sale of firearm related products. in national news, millions of people could lose childcare soon. according to a new report and that has some democrats calling on congress to extend federal funding to prevent what they call a child care cliff, washington, d.c., correspondent hannah brandt has the details. >> at the end of september, child care center's will stop getting federal subsidies should know. hunter says that will hurt businesses like hers. we may have reduce our hours. i may have to eliminate some staff. punter says without the funding percent are likely aill be able to care for his many kids. and a report from the century foundation says across the

country more than 3 million children could lose access to childcare when the funding stops. it says that will take parents out of the workforce and cost the u.s. economy billions. we're pushing economy forward. and in addition to doing that, we're providing a safe, high quality space for showdown. the expiring funding was part of a pandemic relief package that senator tim kaine is among a group of lawmakers who says congress should extend it just because of the covid emergency is over. it doesn't mean that the childcare need isn't. >> intense. if anything, it's more intense because the unemployment rate. so but not everyone believes more federal funding is the solution to making child care more accessible and affordable, simply having more federal money is going to not address the root causes that are unnecessarily driving up costs. rachel dressler with the heritage foundation argues state and local government should be the one supporting childcare based on individual needs. you need to know your community and what is actually going to get the most bang for the buck and any government money that's provided. but advocates say taking away

working here in san francisco in the afternoon, although the inland clearing is really what we're talking about. and that's going to be pretty quick. >> the marine layer that we have several 1000 feet thick and yes, very thick and so forth. but you get above all that. it's very dry. so once we get some kinetic energy in the atmosphere here, that's basically warming that will start the mixing process. however, we're getting fortified by continuation of this marine layer, the constant flow over the golden gate that's going to supply this moisture all day today. so that's going to be kind of that battle trying to clear out the fog and the stubborn areas scattered cloud you can see off to reno. it could be pretty quiet the next couple of days. watch out for wednesday, though. that's going to be pretty weather active. we'll see some thunder shower action, much more widespread. there's your onshore winds. all the arrows pretty much pointed to the west. we're single digits with the couple double digits here and there to throw around 50's for most of the readings and craft and in fact, across the whole bay 64 and hawks were getting some warming already in london. contrast for you were trailing a couple degrees here and there, but on balance, pretty close. so

on saturday. the san francisco front runners hosted the event that started at golden gate park. this year's funds benefited the transgender law centr the event a war ended with an awards ceremony for the top 3 overall finishers. looks like a great time. >> and adding to the crowds in the city today, giants fans are expected to cheer on their team at oracle park later today. >> that game starts at 105, and bay area officials are encouraging people to take public transit into the city of possible. the golden gate ferry is running an extra vote for the game. starting next week. drivers will have to pay more to cross the golden gate bridge. this is a live shot of the bridge right now tolls. do go up here coming saturday on july. first, the toll goes up. $0.35 to 9.75. that's track passholders. also see a $0.35 increase bringing the total to 8.75. pay. as you go. tolls will be $9. that's a $0.20 increase carpooling. still the

cheapest option, though, for you at 6.75. also happening on july. first, customers in several bay area. cities can expect a bit of a bump in their water bills. east bay mud is raising its rates by an average of $0.19 per day. that's an increase of just under $70 a year. and next year, the utility increases prices again by another $0.21 per day. the rate hikes are part of the utilities. 3 billion dollar plan to upgrade water treatment plant, replace pipelines and rebuild neighborhood. reservoirs. the district serves 740,000 customers in the east bay. and therein water customers start paying more on july. first, the agency increases its rates by about 20%. so, for example, if your current by monthly bill is $138, it will go up to $170 is saturday. rates are expected to keep going up every year for the next 3 years. for people living in

grief and sadness on friday after more than 4 months of investigations, oakland police announced the arrest of ishmael burch in connection with angel's death. police say angel died during a robbery. she was sitting in her car on webster street when someone broke in and grabbed her purse. >> she got out of her car that she was knocked down and then dragged by the getaway car despite her violent death, pearl says angel would want to see restorative justice. this is an opportunity to honor. >> her. >> values to show the world that there are alternatives that are potentially much more effective, better human eye is that healing and that don't perpetually cycles of violence. pearl says angel wouldn't want the person who robbed her to go to prison. >> and that the money used on incarceration will be better spent rehabilitating people who commit crimes, whether it be social services or housing or jobs, support. there's so

demanded money. investigators believe this to be a targeted incident. police arrested a man in connection to a gas station robbery in milpitas. that robbery happened at the station on south park. victoria drive around 7 thursday morning. police say the suspect threatened the clerk at gunpoint, getting $600 cash out of the cash register. well, police later identified the suspects car. they arrested him saturday night in san jose. he was on federal probation for weapons violations. and in the east bay, a motel shooting in concord left. one person injured. it happened early saturday morning at the premier inn near the intersection of concord avenue and market street. the victim has since been discharged from the hospital. no arrests at this time. and now to a morbid discovery near the oakland zoo. human remains were found on golf links road around one 15 friday afternoon. police now investigating the death as a homicide. no word on the victim's identity or a suspect

at this time. and new this morning, chp in vallejo, police engaged in a high-speed chase. police say it started when the suspects pointed a gun at officers. the suspects were followed by chopper as they ran on foot. it does appear, but they seem to be in some sort of vehicle based on that video we're watching right now. and we know that both suspects were taken into custody. and happening today, the san mateo county sheriff's office hosts a fireworks buyback event ahead of the 4th of july weekend from 10:00am to 05:00pm put people can drop off their unused or unwanted fireworks. no questions asked. they get up to $75 in cash? well, this is happening in the parking lot of the north fair oaks library on middlefield road in redwood city. all fireworks are illegal in unincorporated san mateo county and county and state parks getting caught with illegal fireworks can result in fines of up to $2000.

traffic safety administration is investigating a ford motor recall. ford recalled more than a quarter million explorer suvs in the u.s. after getting complaints about the cars rolling away, even when placed in park. ford attempted to address the concern by sending out a software update. but the company still got complaints. ford says it is working with safety. investigators on this issue. a southwest airlines plans to raise several fees starting august. 15th. this includes extra charges for pet companions, unaccompanied minors and fees for additional oversized and overweight bags. the carrier also announced it will start selling red-eye flights for the first time. but only for select airports. no word yet on when the new flight schedule wil start. a report says costco is really

laws take effect january. first, some do go into effect on july. 1st, starting next month, california will be the first state in the country to seal criminal records automatically. it will happen 4 years after a sentence has been completed. if no, and if no other convictions have happened but not all criminal records can be sealed. those include serious and violent felonies and crimes requiring offender registration and 2 new laws dealing with homelessness and housing work together to create new housing for low and middle income residents. the new laws focus on underused commercial sites, zoned for retail parking or office space. also going into effect july. first, a law requiring bounty hunters to be licensed and registered with the state of california. now bounty hunters are people hired by bail bond companies to find those who skip out on their court appearances. and starting in july online sellers face tougher regulations on firearm related

very real when a friend of hers overdosed at a party. i realize that. so many people who are present. >> we're not getting the information that they needed how to recognize an overdose >> and how to use narcan coaching took matters into her own hands. and one month later brought her day job to night job. let's talk about harm reduction. after every intermission at princess cocina starts the 2nd half of the show by telling audience members how to recognize an overdose pale in the face in their lips are blue or purple and then how to reverse that overdose. using naloxone, also known as narc can do different nostrils. it takes 2 to 5 minutes to work after her tips and how to advice is done. cocina, hands out packets of narcan for free to those who wanted to make a plan use it. they almost 2 years and started doing this. we've given away over 2000 doses of narcan. >> for she's extremely proud of the work, especially when the show is over and audience

smiling faces at the annual pride run saturday. the san francisco front runners hosted this event which started at golden gate park. this year's funds benefited the transgender law. senator, the event ended with an awards ceremony for the top 3 overall finishers. looks like a lot of fun. >> and adding to the crowds in the city today, giants fans are expected to cheer on their team at oracle park. >> the game starts today at 105, and bay area officials are urging pretty are excuse me, encouraging people to take public transit into the city of possible. the golden gate ferry is running an extra vote for the game. starting next week. drivers will have to pay more to cross the golden gate bridge. this is a live look at the bridge right now and tolls. do go up this coming saturday on july. first, the toll goes up. $0.35 to 9.75. fast track. passholders ca $0.35 increase bringing the total to 8.75. pay. as you go tolls will be 9 bucks. that's a $0.20 increase. car pooling

after more than 4 months of investigations, oakland police announced the arrest of ishmael burch in connection with angel's death. police say angel died during a robbery. she was sitting in her car on webster street when someone broke in and grabbed her purse. she got out of her car. >> that she was knocked down and then dragged by the getaway car despite her violent death, pearl says angel would want to see restorative justice. this is an opportunity to honor. >> her. >> that values to show the world that there are alternatives that are potentially much more effective, better human eye is that healing and that don't perpetually cycles of violence. pearl says angel would want the person who robbed her to go to prison. >> and that the money used on incarceration will be better spent rehabilitating people who commit crimes, whether it be social services or housing or jobs, support. there's so

police arrested a man in connection to a gas station robbery in milpitas. the robbery happened at the station on south park. victoria drive around 7 o'clock thursday morning. police say the suspect threatened the clerk at gunpoint, getting $600 out. >> of the cash register. police later identified the suspects car. they arrested him saturday night in san jose. he was on federal probe. patients opt for weapons chart. excuse me. he was on federal probation for weapons violations. >> and in the east bay, a motel shooting in concord left. one person injured. it happened early saturday morning at the premier inn near the intersection of concord avenue and market street. the victim has since been discharged from the hospital. no arrests made at this time. and now to a more the discovery near the oakland zoo. human remains were found on golf links road around one 15 friday afternoon. police now investigating the death as a homicide. no word on the victim's identity or a suspect at this time. new this

on santa clara street thursday night around 9. they found a broken window near the back of the property and these are images peak police shared of the 3 suspects and their car described as a black bmw x 3. and while most new state laws take effect january first, some go into effect july first starting next month, california will be the first state in the country to seal criminal records automatically. it will happen 4 years after a sentence has been completed and if no other convictions have happened, but not all criminal records can be sealed. those includes serious and violent felonies and crimes requiring offender registration. and 2 new laws dealing with homelessness and housing work together to create new housing for low and middle income residents. the new laws focus on underused commercial sites, zoned for retail parking or office space also going into effect july. first, a law requiring found 2 hunters to be licensed and registered with the state. bounty hunters are people

70 coming in for napa and will do about a 74 for santa rosa. chilly on the left-hand side of your screen there warming up as we get into the end of the week here come those 90's. some summertime might see some 80's poke out a little bit along the east bay shoreline, but chilly at the coast in the 60's territory. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you pride month. celebrations continue across the bay area and that means the return of a brilliant light show in san francisco lighting a major city street in all colors of the rainbow. joining me live now to talk about the project is ben davis, founder and ceo of illuminate the arts. good to good to see is what they have me here, of course, is so, you know, first off, tell us a bit about the project. epthis is the second year that you're doing this. sure. this is this is an amazing project from lumen 8, which is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to making san francisco where magical, lovable, amazing place to live. and we think of san francisco is a city of awe and we kicked off the summer over

this friday. >> with our installation called welcome. welcome it is 12 amazing what they call laser space cannons. 6 of them pointing right at the center of market street. 6 of them pointing up into the sky. wow, created tremendous spectacle. the moment of uplift and love for the entire city really the world beyond. and this was there was a huge ceremony involved with all this to really nice kind of spontaneous ceremony removing really quick. i have to give a shout out to all the city agencies and everybody in san francisco were really committed to helping san francisco shine in this moment. you know, this is a doom loop stories. late finds its highest purpose in dark times. and and people are really rallying to make things possible. and that includes, you know, speaker at a pelosi coming out. mayor breed coming out senator wiener and on bikes and indulgence and stilt walkers from the circus school and be seeing the bisons are the how those coming in from golden gate park in just the best that san francisco has to offer it. just a wide diversity of different groups and different voices really coming together showcasing just the diversity of our of our beautiful city in and and

how much planning goes into art installation? you know, there are behind the scenes, thousands of people ultimately who have to engage in this process. it's we work inside a complex set of systems and where we're just demonstrating by working respectively. people inside the system to san francisco is a city that knows how still and can make things that are magical happened on a grand scale. in fact, last night kicked off the summer and we have a series of other are laser art installation. so people can't quite make it tonight or can't quite somehow see it from their bedroom window on july 4th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of citrus tower. first crackling to life. we're going to bring in those 12 laser space cannons up through the center of sutro tower for 5 nights from july 4th to the to july 8th. and that's really a piece that we think everyone can enjoy. it's a full moon night. we don't really know what's going to look like. this is a city of innovation as well. we play that we take bold and like i say, we're getting yes is all over the place. the one area that we still have a little bit of work to do is on quite tower. we look forward to lighting

that potentially on the 14th to the 16th of july. if we can get a yes from supervisor. peskin up there. i think he doesn't quite know what the project full yet, but i look for the opportunity. let him know like look at market street last night. we had those lights on from sunset to sunrise and there wasn't single complaint what we're doing is pushing duty through the sky and people love beauty. this is not light pollution. this is not it's temporary. it doesn't cause anything. people enjoying themselves where they are and then on the 27th of the 29th of july will be going to hill putting 12 lights across the roof of the fairmont and then letting them all coalesce on the rose window of grace cathedral for another magical moment. san francisco's part of our summer of law. also a lot of different installations that people can move forward to this summer. >> i want ask you, too, about the bay you guys are behind the light display that was on the bridge sadly the lights went out earlier this year. but you've been fundraising. so what's an up with the latest the state? these are the lights that will be back on the bridge and a beautiful new configuration that actually invite even more of the bay into the expression.

we're about 75% of the way through our fundraising drive on that. we but 2.6 million dollars left to raise and big donations and some smaller donations. people go to the bay lights. >> 3.60, dot org. if they want to make a gift right now but know that that that installations going to be coming back. it's just sometimes big projects, take their own speed, have their own pace. but we're working harder to bring the funds on that project as well. that's an important project for san francisco. clearly. and when it comes back, it's going to be beautiful for the next 10 years in the ways that people can even imagine. yeah, i i remember living in the city. >> and being there when the lights first went on the bay bridge and it was just it. it almost was strange not to see light. the bridge lit up the way that it was fair for the years that it had its sort of leaves a hole in the night sky right now that needs to be filled vince on the embarcadero last night. and be there tonight to i encourage everyone to come on down to mubarak there or go to the top of twin peaks are see whatever karl, the fog is called. the fog has actually been named the official artist for all of the summer of all laser installations because he has a

very special relationship to laser light this in but the couple hear it like that when it when it meets the fog, it's truly spectacular. it's like the aurora borealis up on twin very interesting because what is the effect that it creates when the light meets the you know, this light will keep going until it reaches something in touch of something. and what that touches in san francisco is always the fog right is coming in. it's very dynamic. it's even it's even there when you can't see it when the light goes through, it's suddenly just blooms like a flower. it's amazing to watch people should come down to the embarcadero tonight or find wherever you are in san francisco and just take a look towards markets are twin or take a walk and you'll see something you'll never have a chance to see again and will always be unique and change will because that's what karl does in our city. and i also want to ask you about the location of the wellcome lights. >> can you walk us behind the intention? why you chose to have the lights position the way that they are. you have them up on the ferry building but also pointed to ensure

these are the world's lot of strongest lasers and their type or have permission from the federal government faa to do this. so it's very safe. what we're doing is really honoring the history of san francisco. you market street was the first bold gesture of the design of san francisco. we built the ferry building. everybody entered san francisco came up market street. they do this beautiful that fell down and burn down to the ground. it came back up again then along the way, gilbert baker invented the or create the world's pride flag. became the world's pride flag. and so another form of welcoming. so this gesture called welcome, really, is this way to welcome people to san francisco as we go through the beautiful alignment of the the standard, the bay and right to the canyon of market street, be able to see right to the top of twin it's it's really a line to the to the magical energy of the city itself as one of the reasons so effective as as a as an installation. and you know, it's our rainbow here in this is the home of the rainbow pride flag. and we're really honored to to reflect that and and until they could, but baker as well.

lead a marvel live action film. we'll see what happens. well, dave, if your spidey he senses are tingling. i know mine when you watch the new spiderman across the spider-verse, you are not alone. fans have been noticing 2 different cuts of this movie there similar. but with subtle changes in the dialogue in animation, it turns out sony shipped out the international version of the movie early to be translated and didn't update that cut after making several last-minute changes for american audience is what really blows me away, though, is the animation of this. it's very unique. yeah. it worth cut outs and some 3 d going on there just. >> don't go on youtube kids look, the 1960's kind of comparable. yeah, it feels very particularly towards the end was going church. but the stuff up in the air is like what to connecting the web too. it's magic. it's what it is. so. anyway, magic he does
