and july first needs a number of new laws going into effect. we will break them all down. >> from the area's local news station. you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. it is saturday, july the 1st and we're covering a lot of news for you today. let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave spahr stephanie, good morning. good morning, everybody. it is here a real summer weekend forecast we have going on here for you with probably the hottest temperatures to be found today. little bit that will be taking off tomorrow. >> but still quite toasty. still, here's a live shot of the east bay shoreline. yes, covered up with some fog, but don't get too used to it because it will mix out. but it's helping out a little bit for the first couple of hours. in fact, this whole marine layer is commemorating a completely different climate, right? right at the surface because you get above us different story. here's the excessive heat advisory stuff here. we have a warning going

on for those inland areas. sacramento valley, central valley. meanwhile, heat advisory that covers the east bay north bay to the south really anywhere near water. you're insulated, including the city, san francisco in most of san mateo county, along with the coast. there are the temperatures as we speak middle to upper 50's that again, is that the surface a little warmer when you go inland. however, if you were to go up say 5,000 feet, it's already in the upper 80's upper 80's 5,000 feet above us. so different atmosphere. can we get some mixing far as the contrast to yesterday? we're pretty close couple degrees may be ahead. lining up for you today. that's right. it gets quite busy by the late afternoon as we pop over 100 that will include tri valley and often to the carquinez strait and the delta coming up a little bit here. what kind partial, what out, what you can expect for today? and as we get into the rest of the july 4th weekend, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> as it heats up this weekend, large crowds are expected at bay area beaches, but there are warnings for beachgoers from both the coast guard and the national weather

service proper. 70 just is live for us now at ocean beach in san francisco. and tiffany, it sounds like you're starting to see some crowds showing up. >> a few people trickling in. fog is still hanging around and, you know, we should expect that to burn off as the day goes on. but this is officially patio weather time triple digits for many people. >> along the bay area and now that it is also a holiday weekend. big crowds are expected to be heading to the beaches along the bay area to try to stay cool. we know that there will be increased patrols along the coast. the coast guard this holiday weekend will be conducting their operation, dry water patrols. this is a nationwide effort to enforce boating under the influence dui laws and also checking the safety of your equipment with inspections. the coast guard saying they will be conducting boating safety boardings as well. home tease for a dui include large fines,

suspension of your boating operation privileges and even jail time. the national weather service has also issued a warning on possible beach hazards this weekend. they want beachgoers to be aware of rip currents saying rip currents are and always present danger. but rip currents are powerful, powerful currents of water moving away from the shore that can really sweet even away the strongest swimmers say, say if you get caught up in a rip current, the national weather service says you should stay calm and don't try to swim against that current. also say the water's temperature is expected to be around the low 50's and 60's and people should be aware of cold water shot. so those will go effect along the bay area beach beaches and also the central coast area beaches as well. so we're going to see out here hopefully talk to people enjoying their holiday weekend, how they're trying to stay cool, but also celebrate the 4th. back to you. all right, tiffany, thank you so much for that important update

on condition that we're facing out there on the beaches. we appreciate it. >> it's a francisco police are investigating a shooting in the area of market and new montgomery streets right outside the montgomery street bart station. this is video from the scene. you can see shattered glass at the station's entrance. this happened around 8.30, last night. by the time police arrived, the shooters had left the area. police were also unable to locate a victim. they're asking anyone with information to please give them a call. wire crews dealing with the heat in the north. they are cleaning up after a brush fire burned nearly 24 acres in sonoma county. that fire started friday afternoon near san antonio road and street south of petaluma near the marin county line. >> the cause is under investigation. 2 people are in the hospital after a hit and run followed by a shooting in san francisco's richmond district. >> police say this started on 14th avenue near park, presidio boulevard when they responded to reports of a hit and run crash, one person was

injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. officers are investigating the scene and they were investigating when reports of that shooting on 16th avenue started coming in. and that is where police found the man who'd been shot. police believe the man was one of the cars involved in the crash has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. francisco police are sharing body cam video from one officer shot and killed a man in the richmond district last week. they say he attacked his father and killed his own mother and family dog kron four's justine waltman reports. >> just want to warn people that the body camera video is disturbing. it shows the 02:00am interaction between police said 37 year-old marc child whose father had just called 9-1-1. saying that he thinks his son is on drugs and you just killed his wife by hitting her with a stick. >> rp outside guys on the for the facts

>> so police arrived at the home on 31st avenue in the richmond district on june 22nd. and when they got there, the video shows the suspects, father standing in the doorway with blood on his face. he told officers that his son was armed with the stick and officers then entered the home and go upstairs and you can see and hear here. what happens next? >> let >> george. for a culture through the eyes blood in the hallway most there's a because it was subject certain >> so dow. >> the town hall that was held to members of the community

asked the police chief what de-escalation tactics officers used on a man who appeared to be having a mental health crisis. >> there >> some efforts to create some space between that person. eventually the shot and the officers and just leave it at that. you know, we can't make policy determination at this point. >> from the interaction at the top of the stairs to when the shots are fired, total time there is 11 seconds. and after searching the home officers found a 76 year-old woman and a dog dead in a bathroom. the 84 year-old man who saw there at the beginning of the video was treated at the hospital for his injuries. police didn't name the officer who fired that shot that hit the suspect. he is eduardo villanova. he's from the richmond station. police did also say that the investigation into what happened here is ongoing in the newsroom. i'm justine waldman, kron. 4 news.

happening today. customers in several bay area cities are going to see an increase in their next water bill. >> east bay mud raising its rates by an average of $0.19 per day. that's an increase of just of under 70 bucks a year. and next year, the utility increases prices again by another $0.21 per day. the rate hikes are part of the utilities. 3 billion dollar plan to upgrade water treatment plants, replace pipelines and rebuild neighborhood. reservoirs. the district serves 740,000 customers in the east. water. customers will also be paying more starting today. the agency has increased rates by about 20%. so, for example, if your current bi-monthly bill is $138 will go up to $170 today. rates are expected to keep going up every year for the next 3 years. and for people living in alameda, the alameda public utilities board has introduced a 7% rate increase for electricity. that too went into effect this morning. the agency says this

will allow it to maintain its financial straight. >> happening now, drivers are paying more to cross the golden gate bridge. the toll went up. $0.35 starting this morning. that means drivers without fast track will now pay 9.75 to cross the bridge that struck passholders. also see a $0.35 increase bringing that total to 8.75. pay as you go. tolls will be $9. that's a $0.20 increase. car pooling is still the cheapest option for you at 6.75. and some bay area drivers are now getting some help with their bridge tolls. starting this morning, those who got violation notices for not paying tolls in the bay area. we'll get a chance to pay all or part of their bill without any penalties. toy jun seas were charging between 100 to $500 for each toll violation giving a huge blow to many it low-income residents, but under a new law started today, those fees can be waived a payment plan for bridge tolls. express lane tolls. and dmv fees is also

available. the new application process for waivers and payment up payment plans. brother is open through september of next year. frustrated passengers at sfo airlines still recovering from a week of flight cancellations and delays with more than 4 million people nationwide expected to fly this holiday weekend. the airlines are advising travelers to be prepared. check your flight status before leaving for the airport and try to arrive at least 2 hours early. if not sooner. and triple a is also predicting that roughly 43 million people are expected to hit the road this weekend. yesterday was considered the worst day for travel. a heavy traffic is expected the rest of the holiday weekend. if you are hitting the road today, triple a says the best time to leave is in the morning. and if you are on the road on the 4th of july, the worst time will be in the afternoon and the next day. july 5th, you will want to avoid the roads from 03:00pm until 06:00pm. the california highway patrol

is keeping an eye out for travelers driving irresponsibly this weekend. the agency's maximum enforcement period is in place. they will have an increased number of officers on the roads. now through the end of the 4th of the holiday 4th of july weekend. and if you are still looking to get out of town, take a look at the prices. you'll be paying at the pump. state average today is around 4.83 for a gallon of regular the most expensive areas to fill up your tank are sonoma and napa counties, both it for 94 a gallon in the east bay. drivers are looking at about 41 and the cheapest gas you'll find is in solano county. 4.76. a gallon. coming up on the kron 4 morning news and east bay employee steps in to stop shoplifters. but the incident is now sparking a debate about worker safety. >> where this happened. plus, just hours after the supreme court strikes down, president biden's student loan forgiveness plan, the president announces his plan b. >> and temperatures pouncing

everybody. and there. >> like it's going to feel actual but less. so by the time we get to the 4th. but for today, make no mistake about another fogs kind of interesting. we have different patches going on. we're going to your attention to it because it will vary a little bit. and it's clearing patch. it's improving along the east bay shoreline here. this little blanket is just delaying the inevitable. obviously, blue skies right above us. that's what the forecast we're going to be dealing with today. but you go like about 5,000 feet in elevation. it's 86 degrees up there. so much warmer indeed. necessarily a whole lot drier, but much warmer. which one would think it would be hard to get this mixing process going. but there's the fog, as you can see it eroding away. we'll keep tabs on all this morning. golden gate, different story. this is usually a pass way that this stuff has to get mixed out there. so covering up the golden gate for right now, again, this will improve as far as our temperatures at the surface should mention middle to upper 50's cover most of the bay inland. however, different story. 74 for antioch, marine layer had some trouble getting that far out there. but up to the north

face a rose in the bottle. and 63, meanwhile, for san jose want to show the sun futurecast real real quickly because we get the fog taken care for most of the bay. however, look so problematic along the peninsula little bit can't quite shake it away entirely today. so you might have some scattered clouds in the beach forecast today. still looks like our numbers will be pretty impressive. upper 60's near about 70 for a high today. then this comes back again tonight. remember, it helps out now because it wasn't for all of this will be very sultry at night. so we get this marine layer back again. mixes out still along the coast. looks like we're dealing with little fog hanging out there just a little bit. and maybe even coastal drizzle by this point. it's starting to weaken monday morning and the temperatures following suit notices on monday or rather sunday and certainly by monday winds. real quickly. we do see a little bit of a breeze at work this afternoon. that's really thermally driven by that point in these not going to be that average highs will be just around those winds, sensitive areas such as cross the golden

gate. oakland, a little bit. and of course, across the carquinez strait. but watch what happens tomorrow. a little better on the winds that shows the high pressure is weakening and therefore the response from the surface winds are popping much more so again, this tape will play a little stronger when we get to around tuesday and wednesday a little bit. once that high is completely not the major factor. the longer and actually cool down is expected towards the end of the week. so to put this together here for the holiday, particularly hot today, 100 plus well inland 90's for parts of the east bay shoreline, even now for the coast, we got those scattered clouds and mild. there's the fog. you can see it. half moon bay and in some spots is going to be a stubborn to clear. but we should see most highs reach the upper 60's near about 70, then for tomorrow, through the 4th of july 90's, inland 70's for the bay 80's inland by the 4th, it looks like so areas that are popping 100 plus today may not reach 90 by the 4th of july. so big change on that front and more of a change towards the end of the week. 7 ybor san francisco, mild and breezy 82 for

us use a new state bill working its way through sacramento aims to prevent retail employees from confronting would-be shoplifters and robbers. the proposal submitted by san jose state senator dave cortese followed the april killing of a loss prevention employee at a home depot in pleasanton court. hazy says the bill will help keep people safe at work and he wants all retail employees to be trained on how to react to active shoplifting. the california retailers association has not been on board with senate bill 5.53. a statement to kron. 4 news reads in part, california retailers, but the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at the forefront. unfortunately, for the past few years we've seen a rise of criminal activity in our stores that has put the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at risk. bank of hype management plans to increase security at all of their stores as well as introducing new safety training. they believe their

employees and customers should feel safe. but garcia wants would-be robbers to know that this is she and her co-workers livelihood, the midst of >> tiny, tiny bit. >> bank of hype says that they are in the process of working with authorities on this case. they're also offering a $5,000 reward for information on who these men are reporting. in livermore, dan thorn kron, 4 news. >> a grand opening for a new children's sentir called watch me. crow might be delayed and the problem was it was vandalized. the founder came to the site and found the building covered in paint and trash police estimate damages will cost thousands of dollars in repairs. watch me. crowe has offered parenting classes help with job searches and support for children remotely. and the founder says they were excited to finally have a safe space for kids and teens with that grand opening. all of that is going to be postponed pending this cleanup.

>> on friday, the supreme court ruled in favor of a colorado web designer who refused to create a wedding website for same couples. the designer claims her christian faith requires her to turn away customers from the lgbtq+ community. there's now concern the court's decision could lead to widespread discrimination. a law professor at santa clara university says she believes the majority opinion seems to bend the law to support the designers, religious beliefs. >> it's very insulting to lgbt couples to have a decision to say. well, if it has to do with your rights, which which are legal rights to get married. now. actually think that the first amendment debates. >> the executive director of the san francisco lgbt centr

9-1-1 and to keep your affected limb lower than your heart until help arrives. in the east bay. 2 people were killed in a car crash on eastbound highway 4 and pittsburgh last night. that crash happened at around 9, 8, 19, 2 cars collided at the bailey road off-ramp. the 2 people killed were ejected from the same car. police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in fremont last night. it happened around 9.30, between alvarado boulevard and merck answer drive. they say the driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. police say the area was closed off for several hours during the investigation. today marks 30 years since the san francisco, california street mass shooting. 9 people were killed, including the gunman after he opened fire at the petite amarin law firm on 101, california street. back in 1993, the victims ages ranged from 28 to 64 former

face tougher regulations on gun related products. sales. san jose police have announced the seizure of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and have aruested 2 men as kron four's. dan kerman reports this is all tied to the fire at a public storage facility earlier this month. >> on june 14th, a massive fire raced through a public storage facility on blossom hill road in san jose. at the time initial reports linked the blaze to fireworks igniting in one of the storage units. now, 2 weeks later, an investigation is led to the arrest of 2 men and the discovery of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, 30,000 pounds of illegal fire. it's a significant amount. i would say it is the largest in jose. >> one of the largest california police say the fireworks in these boxes were found at the same storage facility. but in a different building, they say they're valued at 2 million dollars.

july, the first time we're covering a lot of news for you today. start by getting a look at that hot weather outdoors with dave spahr payday. stephanie, good morning. and good morning, everybody. going to fill up today. probably the hottest day that we're going to see a slight reduction well inland. it looks like for tomorrow. >> and actually cooling off as we get into early next week. here's a look at the east bay shoreline week. join to this morning at 7. that was all covered up along the east bay shoreline. you can see the fog has retreated. give you another perspective here. the golden gate bridge, the towers are covered up for right now, however, will probably see them before we leave you this morning. so the fog is peeling away. it gave us a little bit of a break to start the day. meanwhile, here's the heat situation. excessive heat warning going on. sacramento, central valley. meanwhile, the heat advisory covers all those inland spots all in the north bay except along the coast east bay over the east bay hills and even into the santa clara valley. sneaking up a little bit into portions of the peninsula. but most of its parent, along with san francisco with a minor breeze leftover today. now

temperatures currently we have the 60's already taking hold the east bay shoreline. 70's popping up well inland in 60's 50's still hanging on to portions of the north bay. 96 at high noon in london. 103, as we get to about 3 o'clock as the inland spots really race ahead. we'll take a look at a closer inspection of your forecast coming at you and just a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> well, as it heats up this weekend, large crowds are expected at bay area beaches, but there are some warnings for beachgoers from both the coast guard and the national weather service kron four's. just is live for us now at ocean beach in san francisco. and tiffany, how is it looking out there? i see you have your jacket on. >> yeah. so still a little foggy of at the beach we're at right now. but more people are starting to arrive. we've seen surfers. we have a person right behind us, setting up for some beach volleyball. it is officially patio weather season has some parts of the bay area is set to hit those

triple digits. and this being a holiday weekend as well. big crowds are expected to be at the bay area. beaches trying to stay cool and away from the heat. we do know that there will be increased patrols along the coast. the coast guard this holiday weekend will be conducting their operation dry water patrols. this is a nationwide effort to enforce boating under the influence dui laws. they're also checking the safety of your equipment with inspections. a coast guard saying they will be conducting boating safety boardings as well. paul tease for the u. i include large fines, suspension of boating, operation privileges and even jail time. the national weather service has also issued a warning on possible beach hazards this weekend. they want beachgoers to be aware of rip currents saying rip currents are and always present but rip currents are powerful currents of water moving away from the shore that can sweep away even the strongest swimmers. they say if you get caught in a rip current, the national weather

celebrating the holiday as well. back to you. all right, tiffany, thank you so much for that. and thank you for those reminders to on safety, francisco police are investigating a shooting in the area of market and new montgomery street right outside the montgomery street bart station. >> this is video from the scene. you can see shattered glass at the station's entrance. this happened around 8.30, last night. by the time police arrived. the shooters had left the area. police were also unable to find a victim. in this case, they are asking anyone with information to please give them a call. fire crews dealing with the heat in the north bay are cleaning up after a brush fire burned nearly 24 acres in sonoma county. the fire started friday afternoon near san antonio street and excuse me, san antonio road and d street south of petaluma near the marin county line. the cause of this fire is under investigation today. and 2 people are in the hospital after a hit and run followed by a shooting in francisco's

richmond district. police say this started on 14th avenue near park, presidio boulevard. they when they responded to reports of a hit and run crash, one person was injured in that crash and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. officers were investigating the scene of the crash when reports of a shooting on 16th avenue started coming in. and that is where police found a man who had been shot. police believe the man was in one of the cars involved in that crash has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. francisco police are sharing body cam video from when officers shot and killed last week. they say he attacked his father and killed his mother and family dog kron four's. justine waltman reports. just want to warn people that the body camera video is disturbing. it shows the 02:00am interaction between police said 37 year-old marc child. >> whose father had just called 9-1-1 saying that he thinks his son is on drugs and he just killed his wife by hitting her with a stick.

the newsroom. i'm justine waldman, kron. 4 news. happening today, customers in several bay area cities are going to see an increase in their next water bill. >> east bay mud raising its rates by an average of $0.19 per day. that's an increase of just under 70 bucks a year next year, the utility increases prices again by another $0.21 per day. the rate hikes are part of the utilities. 3 billion dollar plan to upgrade water treatment plants, replace pipelines and rebuild neighborhood. reservoirs. the district serves 740,000 customers in the east bay. and marin water customers will also be paying more starting today. the agency has increased its rates by about 20%. so, for example, if your current bi-monthly bill is $138, it will go up to $170 today. rates are expected to keep going up every year for the next 3 years. and for people living in alameda, the alameda public utilities board has introduced a 7% rate

increase for electricity. that too went into effect this morning. the agency says this will allow it to maintain its financial strength. >> happening right now, drivers are paying more to cross the golden gate bridge that hole went up. $0.35 starting this morning. and that means drivers without fast track will now pay 9.75 to cross the bridge. fast track passholders also see a 35% increase bringing that total to 8.75. pay as you go. tolls will be $9. that's a $0.20 increase. our polling is still the cheapest option at 6.75. >> frustrated passengers at sfo. airlines still recovering from a week of flight cancellations and delays with more than 4 million people nationwide. >> expected to fly this holiday weekend. the airlines are advising travelers to be prepared. check your flight status before leaving for the airport and try to get there at least 2 hours early, if not sooner. is also predicting

clarify our people hired by bail bond companies to find those who skip out on their court appearances. and starting today, online sellers face tougher regulations on gun related products. san jose police have announced the seizure of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and arrested 2 men as kron four's. dan kerman reports this is all tied to that massive fire at a public storage facility that happened in june. >> on june 14th, a massive fire raced through a public storage facility on blossom hill road in san jose. at the time initial reports linked the blaze to fireworks igniting in one of the storage units. now, 2 weeks later, an investigation is led to the arrest of 2 men and the discovery of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, 30,000 pounds of illegal fire. it's a significant amount. i would say it is the largest in jose. >> and one of the largest california police say the

fireworks in these boxes were found at the same storage facility. but in a different building, they say they're valued at 2 million dollars. our investigation so far has revealed that they are all connected to the same individuals. however, the investigation is ongoing and i'm sure we'll learn more as the court process continues. police say anthony says silva and nathaniel the last both of san jose have been arrested for possession and distribution of fireworks during the course of the investigation. police also seized over 13 ounces of meth amphetamines over 200 grams of cocaine and marijuana. all for sale as well as approximately $4800 in cash and a semiautomatic firearm. as for the fire at the storage facility, it remains under investigation. >> the cause of the actual fire still unknown. but we believe that the fireworks a contributing factor to why the fire >> what's so outrageous? >> dan kerman kron, 4 news.

>> firefighters in contra costa county demonstrated the dangers of fireworks, a sparkler they threw into dry grass burned about an 8th of an acre in less than 6 minutes. the da's office there is reminding people that they will face prosecution if they use or sell any kind of fireworks. violators can face $500 fines. and oakland, police are reminding people that all fireworks are illegal in the city. people caught with them. even those labeled safe and sane can be fined up to $1000. police and fire officials say they are hoping to remove fireworks from residential neighborhoods and in order to accomplish that, they have set up firework collection barrels at fire stations across the city. we have the locations right there on your screen. these locations are for anyone who wishes to surrender any unused fireworks in oakland. in union city, you are allowed to use safe and sane fireworks but police and fire officials.

holiday season or weekend as well. big crowds are expected to be at the bay area beaches trying to stay cool. we do want to go over some warnings with you this morning. there will be an increased patrol along the coast to coast car this holiday weekend will be conducting their operation dry water patrols. this is an hour and national wide effort to enforce boating under the influence dui laws and they will also be checking safety of your equipment with inspections. the coast guard saying they will be conducting boating safety boardings as well. penalties for be you. eyes include large fines, suspension, a vote, operation privileges and even jail time. the national weather service has also also issued a warning on possible beach hazards this weekend as well. they want beachgoers to be aware of rip currents saying rip currents are and and always a present danger. rip currents are powerful currents of water moving away from the shore that can sweep away. they say even the strongest go on to say if you get caught up in a rip current, the national

shooting. it happened outside a bart station in the area of market and new montgomery streets. and this is video from the scene. you can see shattered glass at the station's entrance. this happened around 8.30, last night. by the time police arrived, the shooters had left the scene. police did not locate a victim. they're asking anyone with information to please give them a call. fire crews dealing with the heat in the north bay are cleaning up after a brush fire burned nearly 24 acres in sonoma county. that fire started friday afternoon near san antonio road and d street south of petaluma near the marin county line. >> the cause is under investigation this morning. and 2 people are in the hospital after a hit and run followed by a shooting is san francisco's richmond district. police say this happened on 14th avenue near park presidio boulevard when they responded to reports of a hit and run crash. one person was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital with non

life-threatening injuries. officers were investigating the scene of the crash when reports of a shooting on 16th avenue started coming in. that's where officers found a man who'd been shot. police believe the man was in one of the cars involved in the crash. he's been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. francisco police are sharing body cam video from when officers shot and killed a man in the richmond district last week. they say he attacked his father and killed his mother and family dog kron four's. justine waldman has the latest. >> just want to warn people that the body camera video is disturbing. it shows the 02:00am interaction between police said 37 year-old marc child whose father had just called 9-1-1. saying that he thinks his son is on drugs and you just killed his wife by hitting her with a stick. >> are few outsiders on the for the facts >> so police arrived at the home on 31st avenue in the

>> east bay mud raising its rates by an average of $0.19 per day. that's an increase of just under 70 bucks a year next year. the utility increases prices again by another $0.21 per day. the rate hikes are part of the utilities. 3 billion dollar plan upgrade water treatment plants, replace pipelines and rebuild neighborhood. reservoirs. the district serves 740,000 customers in the east bay. amarin water. customers will also be paying more starting today. the agency has increased rates by about 20%. so, for example, if your current bi-monthly bill is $138 will go up to $170 today. rates are expected to keep going up every year for the next 3 years. and for people living in alameda, the alameda public utilities board has introduced a 7% rate increase for electricity. that too went into effect this morning. the agency says this will allow it to maintain its financial strength. happening

that may mix out of some scattered clouds later today. then tomorrow we do the same process. again, we have this cooling effect of the marine layer. it starts to mix out in the afternoon. notice the flare up but 10 chilly of some thunder showers up there around tahoe. they're going to be very, very sparse, though, in brief onshore winds. a little bit of a breeze we've got going on and actually build little bit more in the central valley by comparison. is that inland heating? it's starting to do this for us now. this high is really keeping surface winds down. but tomorrow looks like we get a little bit more action and you will notice that the temperatures that will not be as hot as today and that continues early into next week. there's half moon bay, as i just mentioned earlier, kind of overcast. now hot 100 plus well inland 90's for parts of the east bay. meanwhile, the coast scattered clouds will mention mild near 70 for a high in some locations, still only in the upper 60's. then as we get into tomorrow, the 4th 90's inland, drops right away by tomorrow and early into next week. there's some relief coming. 80's inland by the

wildfire seem to be burning hotter and bigger than ever is this a concern for you? >> well, your viewers are probably noted that this is a bit of a season of fire weather we've had in the in recent years. it started a little bit later because of those heavy winter rains and the rains well into the spring a few weeks ago in contra costa was still raining, at least so that's sort of a 2 edge sword. it's delayed. the arrival of the high highest portion of fire danger this year. but the other side of that is all those rains have caused to created a bumper crop of vegetation out there. that's not just in contra costa county. that's all across the region. it's not uncommon to see weeds and grass, 5 feet or taller and it's all now nicely dried, unfortunately. and it's ready in spite of this rain to that's ready to burn as we've been in fact, you just reported, a fire here in the area. so stages conditions out

bay, 2 people were killed in a car crash on eastbound highway 4 in pittsburgh last night. that crash happened around 8.19. 2 cars collided at the bailey road off-ramp. the 2 people killed were thrown from the same car. police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in fremont last night. it happened around 9.30, between alvarado boulevard and mcgahn's or drive. officers say the driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. off for several hours during the investigation. today marks 30 years since the san francisco, california street mass shooting. 9 people were killed, including the gunman after he opened fire at the petite and marin law firm on 101, california street. back in 1993, the victims ages ranged from 28 to 64 years old. former congress woman and mass shooting survivor gabby giffords released a statement staying saying in part legal

first. that means several new laws are now in effect in california. our state is now the first in the country to seal criminal records automatically. it will happen 4 years after a sentence has been completed and no other convictions have happened, but not all criminal records can be sealed. those include serious and violent felonies and crimes requiring offender registration and was dealing with homelessness and housing work together to create new housing for low and middle income residents. this new law focuses on underused commercial sites, zoned for retail parking or office space. also, in effect, a law requiring bounty hunters to be licensed and registered with the state of california. bounty hunters are people hired by bail bond companies to find those who skipped out on their court appearances. and starting today, online sellers face tougher regulations on gun-related product sales. san jose police

have announced the seizure of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and have arrested 2 men kron four's. dan kerman reports that this is all tied to the fire at a public storage facility that happened back in jude. >> on june 14th, a massive fire raced through a public storage facility on blossom hill road in san jose. at the time initial reports linked the blaze to fireworks igniting in one of the storage units. now, 2 weeks later, an investigation is led to the arrest of 2 men and the discovery of 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, 30,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, significant amount. i would say it is the largest in jose. >> one of the largest california police say the fireworks in these boxes were found at the same storage facility. but in a different building, they say they're valued at 2 million dollars. our investigation so far has revealed that the rocket to do the same individuals. however,

side note that we're talking about this earlier, certainly tiffany out by the yum by the coast. there mentioning about how cold the water is lower 50's. you're talking about ocean temps in the bay cuts in the 60's and there are even some spots that reach 70. meanwhile, up to tahoe, we have 85 tomorrow, monday at 84. 82 by tuesday. but a little sidebar with this. you can get an isolated, a little thunder shower and that's the silent pops. they sometimes call it. it's just because you have any moisture in the atmosphere. sometimes it just generates that because it gets so hot like that. current temperatures already. 84 antioch, upper 70's for livermore, east bay shoreline 60's. but 70 right now in fremont, we've got 60's up in the north bay. 74 san jose. big players going to be this high pressure. it's in the perfect spot today cuts off the surface winds as best as it can. little thumb on the scale here gives us some extra little warming which will get. then it starts to slip a little bit. will still be hot tomorrow and even into monday. but the impact will be so great as it starts to decay

and by the latter portion of next we're on our way to a cooling trend where you see the 7 day forecast. 74 san francisco and again, noting some of those leftover clouds along the coast that marine layer may keep temperatures suppressed a bit. 81 going on for burlingame got a little pocket of some lower 90's here in the south end of the peninsula. meanwhile, mid 90's to upper 90's for the south bay, los gatos at the century. mark, lower 90's, east bay shoreline to the south tri valley. you're looking at 100 plus and most readings here, san ramon, 100 walnut creek, 101, for concord, 80, almost at 60 80 for even today, 101, fairfield, 93 for napa. 97 for santa rosa. 2.70, forecast. let's watch. it improves 86 by wednesday thursday. 81 75 by friday. the change a wardrobe going on here, but not too bad for july 4th here we cool down to around 90 ish with 70's of the east bay shoreline, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you.

new england and maine. yeah. and somebody an industry that's been doing this for over 100 years and it's un-american industry which >> we don't have a lot of these these days that are continue to do for so long. so i think that this makes it really american dish. yeah. if you ever sitting out there in the east coast, one of these lobster ship checks out looking at the water with a fresh beer packed with lobster. not only going to sink your teeth into something that is super delicious, but very nostalgic. yeah, i can't explain it. they should have set a poet. what we try to do. it would houses we try to capture some of that magic and bring it into the restaurant and to a servant to the people of san francisco, which also has a really rich history and its seafood industry. yeah, absolutely. and tell us a bit about your restaurant as well with house. yeah. well, we have 2 locations. we have one on 14th, the market at the edge of the castro. >> we also have one on fillmore street between bush in pine. we've been doing it for over 17 congratulate.

the local business community in san francisco? you've been open for 17 years, but you've also survive really the height of the pandemic to has it feel really just get to this point? >> feels great. i mean, support from our customers i mean, couldn't do with that chef. he's the the brain's. i mean, look at look at this. makes it looks incredible. it smells delicious. and again, this is all right. this is all fresh produce that you as we're able to pull from that the east coast, sounds like the lot a lot. we have officers out here, but they're different kind there, spiny lobsters and have to die for but since tail meat in those lobsters but with this, you can use the whole animal. yeah, salami is just so it's so fun to put the big claw on the of the restaurant you get everything in here at the the claw, the knuckles, the legs. you know that it is it. conventional to also use the claw meat in a lobster ok, used to just think it was just

the tail. but you can use the climate is well, yeah, somebody being these guys, you can actually you can with a rolling pin. you can roll out these little legs, a little meat nuggets in there. so like marshals. yeah, i don't want any of lobster bisque with the show's once you're done. wow, that is. that's another thing that people can get off the menu as well as a lobster bisque or a it's a special. okay. for sure. very good anything else people can look forward to coming out of wood house this summer. well, we just renovated one of our restaurants to to a a force closure for that seismic retrofit. so we've reopened our film or location. and it's looking so beautiful. so i hope to >> everybody and excited to be back in action. >> yeah. so any thoughts on that from from yes, really really funded to to take a paws. and, you know, we did it a couple of times in the pandemic. but, you know, this time we've got to put a real nice shine on the restaurant. >> so really excited to be back. and and the new space
