>> welcome back. taking a live look now at conditions outdoors. look at this gorgeous view right there. we could see the city of san francisco out in the distance. >> and i believe that is the bay bridge. and we're looking at as well a bit overcast at this hour 7.44. this sunday morning. but things will start to warm up as the hours go on day. >> yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and we're seeing that fog also happening around the golden gate there, too.
7:45 am
looks like it's socked in with fog all true. but the thing that's different that today is we have a a very, very thin marine layer. it's checking in. it's going remain at the coast for a lot of today, too. but it's not going to take much to really cleared on out. and so it's not penetrating as far inland either. so therefore, we didn't get as much cooling with that. and once the sun starts to heat us up, we'll get the temperature dynamics working later today. what's going on up in tahoe? we've got to keep saying this thursday. is that chance over the 24 36 hours or so? maybe a passing thunder shower any time, but we're throwing some scattered clouds today and lingering a little bit on monday, too. slight temperature drop to the mid 80's with all of this here. yeah. they were pretty lofty yesterday and maybe even today too. but again, there's that minor risk because some scattered cloud cover a lot. here it is out to see. you can see it and the models are projecting kind of a passage late this afternoon into the evening hours to kind of cover us up a little bit overnight. but we're on the backside of the high pressure system and sometimes in the late portions
7:46 am
of summer. well, sometimes talk about that monsoon and that's the general direction that that stuff comes though. this is not to keep very potent. it is early in the season. just checking and our winds on shore generally speaking, that's helped out a little bit, even during the day that keeps refreshing it with new marine layer moisture that is for folks near water. so you get a little bit of a break there, but that the issue is not penetrating that far inland as it didn't from yesterday either. but against sticking with the game plan of this high, drifting off away from us by tuesday. really opening up the pacific a little bit more. so prop up towards our north might help initiate more of a stronger onshore wind. by the time we get to the middle of the week here, although we don't get really cold, cold air here by any stretch, we do drop into the 80's. and that's a big improvement from those numbers this weekend. however, 100 is returning for the weekend. that is next weekend. 4 zone forecast for your sunday dropping. now down to 69 san francisco. the coast is going to be tricky with that fog all
7:47 am
day today. we'll try some 60's on for style here. 63 for half moon bay because you'll probably see with the flow pattern coming like this. that continues to keep fresh marine layer and fog right there at the coast. it's hard to clear that out. 79 going on for burlingame to the to city. 81 still in the upper 80's here for palo alto in redwood city and the south bay, some lower 90's, familiar game plan from we had yesterday. not a big change happening yet. 99 for morgan hill, 97 los gatos and the east bay shoreline, upper 80's. we've got 100 plus going on along tri valley. still today, 102, for danville, one or 2 conquered 74 for berkeley. with 77 97 for fairfield, 89 for napa and 97 going on for santa rosa. 70 forecast. there you have lots of 90's 80's for the middle of the week. that's will reach kind of our trough temperature wise warming up as we head on to the weekend. and again, we might start to see a little surge happening with 100 numbers returning. stephanie.

8:01 am
have some lower 70's already working here, but just a few of them lot of readings or at least in the 60's warmer than yesterday morning. but at least not too bad. so we're off to an okay start. it won't be quite as warm as yesterday, but still in the inland spots are not going to really notice the golden gate bridge. yeah, you have the fog back again. but what you really can't tell from this is this is a very thin layer. you go up about 1500 feet in elevation and the numbers pop well in the 80's. so that's something to consider with us. of course, we're going continue to get fresh marine layer all day today. maybe won't have the fog, but at least the fresh cooler air to at least keep portions of the bay down a bit. 54 at this hour, moon base, you're probably look a lot of cloudacover today. meanwhile, well inland we've got 74 already livermore. 75 for antioch, least 68 going on for concord in the north bay readings or at least in the 60's. so little bit worried if that was in the 70's will be off to a very warm starts will be some relief there by contrast with yesterday, though, here they are some half-dozen degrees or better than this time yesterday. like fairfield, like livermore. and
8:02 am
you can see a half-dozen degrees ahead up there in the north bay to these are again ahead of yesterday's numbers. now, as far as that fog, it comes back again tonight along the coast, it spreads out to the east bay shoreline, but not much more than beyond that. so again, tomorrow going to be plenty hot for those inland valleys, minor breeze going on for today. expected a little pop in the afternoon. excessive heat warning. it's the same as we talked about until 11 this evening. they may potentially amend this change this a little bit as a possibility. but for right now, this is what the statement stands. 94 at high noon to 3 o'clock at 101, notice it says mostly cloudy there. we do have some scattered clouds developing in this afternoon. that does cut off some of the solar heating. but the next concern is any strikes of dry lightning. there is that possibility, however, slight. so we just got a mention at least verbally with all of this getting into next week. we see a cool down. we'll get into more of that coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you for that update. >> those east bay temps were
8:03 am
extreme on saturday and people did all they could to make it bearable. kron four's amanda hari reports from walnut creek. >> because right now i feel like my feet are melting into the it is for good. as temperatures climb to the east bay, people who are doing everything they could to cool down walton, not and her son gary and more decided to escape the heat by heading into a movie at iran deluxe cinema in concord. but soon realized they weren't the only ones with that idea rounded as i don't know what hit. >> you think you're going to get some of fresh air, the fresh a fee and i think it's ballots because so many people it took about like 20 20 minutes to get through the concession lines over in brentwood. temperatures also soared over the 100 degree mark. > prompting the city open up a cooling center. pardon because a compartment health issues, especially if they're out. >> and the heat and have anywhere else to if they're

8:14 am
8:15 am
well, can i think on morning news. good morning, everybody. and some scattered clouds already working their magic in the south bay here. we're going to see that activity again late this afternoon early this evening. there will be coming up from the south perspective, actually out to
8:16 am
sea. but that could be coming in from the southerly perspective. >> right now, we're taking care of fog for right now. but again, just to make no, we will probably see some of that bubbling up happen later today. it may help out with some of the temperatures ever so slightly. but you see places like corey racing 80 74 for a livermore. concord at 68 still 60's on the east bay shoreline. 66 santa rosa, a chilly 54 at half moon bay where it's basically mostly cloudy, at least may be getting a break in the afternoon because the general flow pattern is coming right across the peninsula like that. we did get some relief from the fog overnight again, but it wasn't as intense as yesterday morning didn't penetrate into those in the valleys. so their go, you didn't get any relief out. there are help from this. the only thing is with the constant churning of this in the induction of new fresh marine layer moisture might be enough to keep temperatures down from what they would be for places like san francisco, east bay shoreline. that's why your numbers on popping as much because right upstairs, it's well in the upper 80's right now. but it's going to
8:17 am
stay up there. looks like for the most part, at least near the coast. now some scattered clouds on the backside of this high, which is starting to sink to the 4 corner states. there go will get some scattered clouds this afternoon and into tonight. so says futurecast for going through this. there you see him right there as we approach into the lake later hours after dinner say 7 o'clock or so into tonight. there is that isolated possibility of a couple crackles thunder with all of that. maybe maybe maybe just from that. it is this an addendum care. we don't expect really any precipitation from any of this. but this type of pattern is something we do watch out for particularly knee-deep and fire season because it does produce dry. lightning. hopefully we won't get that instability. you do see some rain happening. however, up in the mountains, there may be a somebody might pick up some rain with this. then we get all the way to tuesday morning. yeah. looks like tri valley. going to get that fog back in the morning hours or at least some relief from the marine layer helping you out. and the morning hours and afternoon highs will be a little bit more generous or not so rough. all right.
8:18 am
onshore winds expected today inland heating will drive that right across the carquinez strait. fresh marine layer moisture for san francisco southerner in east bay shoreline. little bit to shave off a little bit of the edge from what you would get if there were no winds. that's another issue, too. i mean, little bit of breeze helps out may not be road drastic with those temperatures. but if you had absolutely no winds, we'll be in central valley then. so that's why numbers are going to that bad as we get tuesday. you can see the winds picking up a little bit more so because that high is now dipping to the southeast. sunny, early, we have afternoon clouds to make note of this is half moon bay and that's the fog. now 100 plus inland 80's and 90's for the bay. so it's a slight improvement early in the week. moderation is the word not so hot. 80's return inland. so that deserves an explanation point there. 70's for the bay. then late in the week. we do it again. we warm back up again. we may be looking at the century mark into next weekend. 69 san francisco. we've got some lake clouds here. 78 for open 90 still san jose in the south bay going to be plenty hot as it will be in

the far east bay, the north bay, let student the 90's again, maybe 100 or so getting close to santa rosa. and there's that nice little strip of green. you can see right along the coast. thank you. marine layer. there's the drop in temperatures. 88 looks like by i think we're onto something, stephanie there some induction of almost spring coming with the 80's. and yeah, that's true. but it really does sound like the place to be today is going to be on the coast on the coast and, you know, watch, bring your sweater or jacket while you're at it, too. so, you all right. thanks so much, dave. >> alameda county fire crews. they put out a 3 acre vegetation fire last night in newark. we know the fire danger is pretty high. given the hot temperatures. this was reported around 09:00pm last night. crews confirmed the fire was put out around 11:00pm. no one was injured. and cal fire stopped a grass fire reported in napa fire reached one acre on the block of lacoille road about 4 miles away from yelp bill. the blaze was first reported around
