see the scattered showers going on in little spots across the southern rockies a little bit again, this will expand out towards the west for this weekend and early next week. let's hand it over to future cast for us. what i'm talking about there you have the pulsating during the daytime heating, some of exhaust making its way across the bay area. that's why said earlier, maybe perhaps sunday afternoon evening, you might pick up a little stray thunder shower potentially in some of the higher elevations with that in some of the exhaust makes it here as late as about tuesday. and all of that, too. then the elements kind of position up just the right way. we don't see as much activity going on up there as we finish off the week. just in the placement, these things will blocking low. you can see in. so cal, there's the high. it can be quite the star, the show that was used to so much storing the middle of the summer. and that's good news for us. although temperatures do warm a little bit early into the week by the mid to latter portion of the week. we see a little bit of a cooling down and into next weekend as well. 4 zone forecast looks like this. 69 san francisco.

we'll keep it in the upper 60's along the coast for today. 78 for burlingame. 85 stir city mid 80's as we head south in the south bay. also mid-eighties. but you start to get more inland here we start to climb up 90 for morgan hill, los gatos east bay shoreline. lower 80's tri valley, lower 90's. it looks like 92 going on for danville in walnut creek and concord, maybe at a 5 degree or so swing for those for tomorrow. 71 for berkeley. billy, what 70 to 89 fairfield, annapolis. checking in 82 with 87. meanwhile, for santa rosa, lot of 80's heading down south. so in the 70 forecast, here's a little pop that happens monday tuesday, then sliding back down friday at about 90 that looks like inviting. and there are some 80's being projected as we head into next weekend. it'll be a nice little break from summer. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. starting this month, san mateo county libraries are offering mental health first aid

couple of hours starting around midnight and you should see plenty of meteors. >> it is again. best to find a dark, remote location for viewing the meteor shower. as the our expert. this just shared with us. well, taking a live look now at the transamerica pyramid in san francisco. looking like a bit, a cloudy day at this hour 9.44. this saturday morning. but things could change just a bit as we get further into the day. dave. >> yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning. everybody in those skies will be improving hour by hours will go into the mostly this afternoon, starting things off up in tahoe, sunny. but you add the daytime heating and yes, some thunder shower action looks like as well. high temperatures, by the way, we'll be about 80 or so. and for the display going on if you want to watch the meteors going off here, it looks like the fog probably for the bay area will be rolling on in shortly after sunset. some of the outlying areas, of course, a look pretty nice with all of that little pieces of leftover
9:46 am
snow ball comment. yeah, this zipping on by. here's a shot coming in from half moon bay. we have overcast skies to get things started here again. we'll see some clearing happening in the afternoon. get used to this. this is going to be around pretty much during this week with the morning fog in the clouds and all of that and something also typical of high pressure in the back side of it. we get sprayed by some of that moisture that does fire up with some scattered showers and thunder showers for the afternoon. up in the mountains. all right. 60's going on for right now. 74 already racing ahead, 60's north bay. 61, san francisco, 68 for san jose. this is what i'm talking about. you see the flare up happening each day. just add heat and you get those thunder showers. the exhaust noting this looks like a little bit for sunday night into monday as a little here. there is the little mention up in our mountains in the east bay, mount diablo, mount hamilton, areas like around there you get to the higher elevations. there's that slight chance of a shower may happen just because of moisture here. but don't wait
9:47 am
up and all week, as you can see, there's that chance of seeing still some thunder showers going on in the mountains to we're just again, right location on the backside of this high. but at least not in the right spot to give us a nice heat spike, though. so we have this nice blocking load or south. you're a little bit. looks like the heat bubble up towards our north. that's going to give us a little bit of influence of warming for early next week. there's that high. it stays away. stay up there, not to impact us and we'll get some gradual cooling towards the end of next week. but it's going to still be every bit of summer. looks like through much of the balance of next week, though. 4 zone forecast coming you today. 69 san francisco mission district about 70 again back to the 60's for the coast and on the bay side, mostly 70's here, but popping 84 foster city, san carlos about 85 along with palo alto. south bay. you're looking at about mid 80's to 90 los gatos and morgan hill as well, east bay shoreline, lower 80's tri valley, lower 90's. now let's bump these up about 5 degrees or so for tomorrow. warming up
9:48 am
there, particularly early in the next week. 92 walnut creek, concord, 71 for berkeley. 72 vallejo, 89 fairfield, 82 also for napa in 87 for santa rosa. us check it out. the 7 day forecast. not a huge change through much of the week is gradual reduction of temperatures, although friday we're celebrating that 90, by the way, here and into next weekend. as a note, we might see some 80's return and all of that. but still september, the first is when the be logical fall gets stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> libraries in san mateo county are offering trainings on mental health earlier this morning, i spoke with a san carlos councilmember about the events that you tend to help someone who might be struggling. take a listen. starting this month, san mateo county libraries are offering mental health first aid training. the courses are meant to teach people how to respond to a person having a mental health or substance use crisis. joining me live now to talk about this special program is san carlos city council member sara mcdowell.
9:49 am
welcome and good morning to you. good morning. thanks so much for having me here this morning. absolutely. and so tell us a bit about the inspiration behind this program. sure. well, you know, i think we all recognize that our communities have been so impacted by mental health struggles. i'm sure some of your viewers at home this morning know someone personally who is struggling certainly the also made that a hard situation even worse. and so in order to really shine a spotlight on mental health last year as mayor, i join with a group of mayors in san mateo county to form the san mateo county mayors, mental health initiative. and we work very closely with the county to roll out free mental health first aid trainings in our cities. and it was a huge success. and i'm so pleased that the san mateo county by berries are now carrying that forward and offering free mental health first aid trainings. and some people might say, you know why, why libraries? but really the libraries are a cornerstone of our community where people go for resources, not just books,
9:50 am
but after school programming and senior programming we have maker spaces where people can use free 3 d printing and i'm so pleased that 130 of our library staff are now trained in mental health. first aid and 3 of those staff members went on to become certified instructors. and so they're the ones who will be doing trainings going forward. that's incredible. over 130 over 100 library staff are are are trained for this. so tell us about what this training entails. what can people expect when they go through this? that's a great question. and so with the library's, it will 8 hours of training. but over the course of 2 days, so 4 hours each over weekend on saturday and sunday and the training really walks you through a lot of different mental health struggles from anxiety and depression to someone who might be struggling with an eating disorder to something more serious like someone contemplating suicide or schizophrenia. and it really teaches regular people like you and me how to identify, understand and respond to
9:51 am
someone who's struggling with their mental health. and so that could be a family member. it could be a friend or someone you work with. it could be someone you're standing next to it. the dry cleaners. and it gives you some really simple tools to use anytime anywhere you what you walk through, what's called the allergy processes. okay. the a stands for assessing the situation to see if someone is in danger of harming themselves. the l is to listen. not judge mentally the g is to give reassurance and also resources. and there's so many wonderful resources out there. t is for free. and then the easer to encourage them to seek professional help and encourage them to some self-help strategies. so really it's designed not to become a trained therapist or a professional at diagnosing, but really it is to be a bridge between someone who needs help and and helping them find those resources to take the next step. and how
9:52 am
can people register for this and open to people of all ages? it's open to adults and you go on to the san mateo county library's website. it s and c l dot org and we have several different training. sessions are first one filled up within 24 hours, which is really heartwarming because it shows that we're meeting a really crucial to hand. and for these trainings, going to be adding more. so i would encourage everyone to again visit s and acl dot org for these trainings to sign up their free. you don't have to have a library card open to adults and give your thoughts just about the importance of de stigmatizing. men. discussion around mental health and the importance of reaching out for help. if if one needs it. that's exactly right. unfortunately, speaking about mental health, there's still quite a stigma around having those conversations and and they can be difficult conversations to have. so this there's not only instructional hour, but you also work with a
9:53 am
partner in practicing having those conversations. and so that's really key is to just open up that door and just ask someone, are you ok? i personally have used the training and i can say it's a success and and it's really something that, again, you can just use anytime anywhere. we do need to be having those conversations in our communities. it's so important and walk us through briefly in our last minute here, some of the locations that are having the upcoming training training because i know that we do have a graphic. we want to show people and open testing. i think you yes. and san mateo county libraries are all over the county. we have one training in millbrae. we're offering one in san carlos, one in half moon bay. we recently opened a training in north fair oaks. we're looking forward to adding more in the future. so again, just go onto the website, smc l dot org and all that information is on the web page. okay. fantastic. san carlos city council member sarah mcdonald, thank you so much for your time. thank you, stephanie. really appre

cider and falling leaves and whatever. yet there in the weather department, its pre season anyway. so yeah, we're looking at high temperatures in the upper 90's going on early next week to near 100. so it's very bit like summer. then we get to the latter portion of the week and a little bit of a cool down have this on your sunday monday next week. but we may look at some 80's going on. everything kind of holds together. the good news is we don't see the heat spike, high-pressure doing its thing. the monsoon it will continue up in the mountains and that exhaust just a little with. and i'm here in the east bay, higher elevations. there might start to see some cloud cover develop sunday night into monday morning with the potential sprinkle and hopefully no dry lightning with all of that, too. yeah, crossed. yeah. this is the season to get some more of that monsoon until the end of next month. basically. so we're just kind of hanging tight here as we finish off. but again, next weekend cooling down at the kind of nice. all right. well, we will look forward to that. thank you so much, dave. >> thank you for that. all of you for joining us here at kron. 4 weekend news. i am stephanie lin in from all of us here at kron. thank you and
