for this fog kind of mix out to which is going a little bit of a decent job at good morning. good morning, everybody. this is half moon bay and look at it. looks like the sun trying to poke out already. by the way, that air quality looks that will continue monday and maybe a little bit into tuesday. we're actually breaks down a little bit, which is going to be nice. don't go in that heat spike, though, middle of 4 week. this blob you see down here is a tropical depression. number 10 expected to become a hurricane within a couple of days. just marching through this real quickly. it's kind of stock. it doesn't have much to ring right now. but monday at 07:00am. you can see it's max winds at around 50 becomes a hurricane, probably by tuesday. and here's the trajectory right there for the florida panhandle. max winds at 90 on wednesday morning. so it pops to a category one storm sometimes in the gulf of mexico. could this water is very warm. middle of gulf of mexico water temps mid to upper. >> 80's. >> and tropical systems love that the projections are it gets sent back out to sea with
8:46 am
the gulf stream back to our coast here. interesting as well. there's our low friended kind of drifts away. high pressure builds in. this is the heat bump. i mentioned earlier by wednesday. the impact for us will be a bump on the road and then we cool back down again quickly as we head into next weekend. look at that. that is delicious. so that's going to cool us off into next weekend. there is the possibility of maybe a few little sprinkles with that. but that pattern tells us at least we're backing off in those temperatures show you how quick this he pump will be before a little flavor of autumn coming our way. kind maybe late summer. here's what happens wednesday. high pressure is kind of the boss right now. overhead will probably get the winds at the surface cut off a little bit here. alright, fine. here comes the yes. kind of a cut off low out to sea. so doesn't much moisture work with. don't expect much out of it except that drop of temperatures. 4 zone forecast for you today. 74 san francisco at the coast. let's keep it in the 60's. although i think a few more 70's will pop today. 76

8:48 am
than that. but is heavy rain for the southeast, which is actually not as drought ridden is the western gulf is western gulf needs the rain more. yes, so unfortunately, yeah, it's not as dry there. so it might not something like what we saw recently in hawaii yeah, i don't think it something like that. but i mean, it's it's something they'll bring a lot of rain to the southeast. thank you so much, it's becoming a familiar chance. the a's may have one foot out the door in oakland, but >> there's still a lot to figure out between now and a potential move to las vegas. the a's would need a place to play while a new stadium is being built in vegas and their lease to the oakland coliseum is up after next year. the a's could re up at the coliseum for a few years. but according to the san francisco chronicle, mayor sheng taos price could be steep. >> including leaving the a's name routed. >> in oakland, joining us now to -alk more about this san francisco sports columnist scott ostler. and that's not
8:49 am
all the mayor is asking for. according to a recent conversation that you had. so phyllis and what what she talking about. >> well, mayer realizes she's in the driver's seat because the age of got about their move in such a hasty and kind of slapdash fashion left themselves. no place to play after next year. so they're going to have a 3 or four-year void, no place to play. and they'd like to probably one of the main options is to stay in oakland. but mayor thao realizes that that she now has some leverage and what he and she she's willing to use it. yeah, what you can use that leverage to try to she could do once everything one she raise the lease. it's not 1.2 million. she can say, ok, we it's now 10, 9, 15 million they have to play somewhere. so she she got another thing is she could ask the commissioner of baseball. look. if we're going to help them and and lease the stadium out to them, we want to leave the name here. we want to. so at some point, maybe a note special team will come and it
8:50 am
will be the oakland a's. so leave days. name here. when you go to las vegas, another thing she could ask isn't this would be it daring ask would be. if we least the team, if lease a stadium to the team for 3 or 4 years and help them out. we want you to guarantee that when you expand when mlb expands that oakland will be at the top of the list for an expansion team of all those scenarios, which one you see may be playing out. i'm guaranteeing a an expansion team is probably a long shot because it it be hard to get all the owner to say, ok? that because they're not ready to expand yet anyway. so that that would be a long shot leaving the name is a possibility. i think that number one possibility is jacking the the rate there's no incentive for oakland to do the a's. any favors basic. exactly right. right. and fact, mlb and of kind of and i'm leaving open. but they've kind of insulted and abused oakland on their way out the door of the commissioners kind of ridicule, the fans and
8:51 am
ridiculed the mayor sheng thao she couldn't get a deal done. a lot of what he said was was b everything. yes, so they have not done any favors. oakland's opens not. in a move to do it during the great things for them. she's got a lot of that ridge because the a's don't have any real options. they have to pretty much play in oakland until their stadium in vegas has completed right? >> yeah, the a's are really short on options because, for instance, if they decide to plan summerland in the minor league ballpark 20 miles outside of vegas, major league plate players association would have to sign off on that. and they're unlikely to do that because big league players don't like the plan 125 degree heat with a no refund. the stadiums they? it's not going to be popular with the players association to okay. we're going to play part of the games in sacramento are going to play part of them over here cnd sentenced cent for cisco's. it's a mess. and the fan base will be right. all over the place right? yeah. and then the giants maybe would let him play for a little bit at the. >> they could make some money,
8:52 am
but they don't want him to take over their stay. exactly. in 8, the giants that the same thing is open. oakland uses that state at the stadium. they read about the tractor shows and monster truck shows right wrestling shows and things like that. and so the giants, the giants use the stadium for more than just baseball. so and waiting in the wings throughout all of this is another development group that wants that coliseum property to get their project going. >> so the longer the a's hang around and write and that's putting a big delay on their plans. that's another incentive for oakland to jack up the rates and not make it easy for days to say opens ready to roll on the there's a % a group of oakland, people that are ready to develop that property right away. and they're in the process of buying half of it and maybe the other half. so yeah. and oakland basically opened and mayor sheng thao are saying, you know, we would long enough to develop causing property time is now. let's get it done. this kind of sounds like the old baltimore colts moved to indianapolis where dead of the night they loaded up trailer's moved indiana and
8:53 am
then the fans there got a new team dropped the colts name that left with the team and became the ravens. yeah. kind of a similar a little bit of us. and especially the fact that it's kind of haphazard and messily done poorly done right. and and john fisher said he's not interested in selling that. he said that. but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. yeah. so because it i still believe at some point you will the interest in selling the team if the price is right. all right. sir, thank you very much. wow, you get to watch all your favorite stuff. it's to die for, and it's all right here.

>> taking another live look outside this time of the bay bridge on this sunday morning. and david looks like finally, the sun is peeking out through the fog. >> yeah, we're seeing a bit clearing job today than we saw from the yesterday. good morning. good morning, everybody. here's the golden gate bridge for you again. the sun trying to peer out peeling away some of that fog as we go into the mostly sunny mode to produce this this afternoon lower 90's east of the east bay hills. my pop 90 going on at the santa rosa. 74 san francisco. 65 meanwhile, for half moon bay, although some coastal locations might graze near 70 or so if you miss it today, don't worry. we've got to nice week ahead will get those numbers warming up here today. right now, rather, we're at 70 for antioch, most east bay readings in the 60's 50's up to the north bay. 58, san francisco in 63 for san jose. so in the morning hours we have this fog clears out

pretty well in the afternoon comes back again, certainly at the coast. that's an issue. but it's going continue to do this ball game that looks like today tomorrow into monday, as you will see there in his latest about tuesday. again, clearing out nicely for the afternoon hours and does a pretty good job of the late morning, too. so for today, it's mostly sunny, warm inland. we got near about 80 for the bay lower 90's going on in london. expect that tomorrow and tuesday. but it's wednesday. those temperatures start to pop near maybe 100, although it's not quite the kind of set up. we're looking up before the complaints. maybe if we miss it. but certainly that's where the heat pump will be in. that is pretty much coming in stone that looks like wednesday is going to be the day. look out for that. we're at 74 for a high today. san francisco, 78 for oakland. 84 meanwhile for san jose warm, sunny is what you can pretty much expect. getting hot, though, inland, lower 90's. it looks like as i mentioned earlier, this is almost a persistence type forecasts with lower 90's at work again. wednesday is the day to look for the little

bump going on. we'll take a look at the 4 zone forecast cover you this sunday extended coming up in a bit. and also the tropics are quite busy with a new tropical system look out for in the gulf of mexico. l a >> well every month. nice. a restaurant san francisco has what they call a 3rd culture collaborate dinner and what it does showcase the culinary world as a whole. so here to explain a little bit more as chef and owner of me say a video. she maura. thank so much for being here and congratulations on that. your second year being here in san francisco. your own location here. i'm sure that's a really big deal. but i'm really excited to see what you have in store for us here today. so tell me a little bit before we get to dishes, what is out of all about? >> so the 3rd closer collaboration event is highlighting asian and asian american chefs. it all started my restaurant. which means second generation japanese and i'm half japanese. so i really wanted to showcase the talent of other asian american ships just like me, in my opinion. i
9:16 am
think there's a lot i want to put emphasis on how great american chefs are. i think a lot of times on the fine dining will be look for tradition and japan, for example. but i think that restaurants like mine can stand up just as high as the other restaurants across the world. so i wanted do collaboration of bringing chefs just like me and kind of cook a dinner with them and show them that. yes, we are on the same stage as everyone else. >> and recent years, the term fusion has come under fire. but if you can explain a little bit more about what you're crazy and it's you say, yeah, so my cuisine is am it's a perfect personal reflection of myself. so i'm half japanese and really the the cuisine about my own personal journey. i've worked in fine, dining my whole life. so the food is rather a finding that locally sourced ingredients from all over california. so i'm trying to use the best i have and also stay true to my
9:17 am
own culture, which is being have japanese. and if you want to, you know, call that fusion, that's fine. but really, for me is just being transparent with who i and honoring where you came speaking of where you came from, i know the moved here from texas. so you did mention being able to work with our locally grown food. so what kind of a blessing would you say and being a chef here in california and then working with ingredients that are going on here? well, in my opinion, i think the bay area has the best produce. >> probably in america. it's we have the best farmer's markets. we are very, very good seasons. and so for me, it's like it is really a blessing. it's like we're almost too spoiled in. haha, really, in japanese cuisine, we always follow the season's if you go to a nice case restaurant or my restaurant, for example, you can always see seasonal dishes. and i think because we had the best of the best, you can always get a taste what that and so that was my next question. is your menu seasonal? you just answer that. and so what can we look forward to as we're approaching fall, unofficial
9:18 am
finishing off summer here. fall is a great time for japanese you see things like a second season of cottesloe which is right here. and usually i like to some falling gree inc like sweet potatoes. i was have persimmons on and the restaurant at my restaurant during the fall. i always hang she got keeper and the window and i let them dry. so that's always something fun to look for. very cool. i do look for some insight. pretty bias there. but if you tell us a little bit more about what we've got yeah, absolutely. so this is just it's actually pretty perfect. we're doing a 2 year anniversary this weekend at and these are kind of a selection of things we've made over the years. so it's perfect timing. so we always have a suit came on at the restaurant, which is traditionally made japanese pickles. the bottom here is bush ii or pickled plum, you have me so pickled garlic and then these pickled mellon. i'm over here. you have seared scallop with the pine that me so pine granola watercress and oil. and this one. here is a
9:19 am
little bit more on the traditional side. it's a smoked in grilled, a caught or bony do on the bottom. you grated icon with yoga and then sky. so you can kind of see that some things are traditional. let me say some things are not so traditional. we kind of like right, this line of respecting tradition, but also pushing that boundary open. very cool. yeah, this one here braised apple any from monterrey, monterey bay abalone on the bottom and care for have a cherry tomato slippery. >> think lines cells on top and then a chai flower as it's fresh. it's from yes. haha. and over here in desert on something a little bit more modern is a this is a okinawans sweet potato ice cream with fudge made from the same potato and up railing on the bottom on top. epa tatum o she as well chips and then a black, sesame crumble. so kind of represents false enough, you know, leaves a little bit
9:20 am
of lake so oil, things like that. so which part of the ice cream? it's really it's on the bottom, you know, cases all when you have to. it's really fun underneath this. yeah, this is cool. that's quite the experience. yeah, thanks. and then at the restaurant, we like to something called waga. she is so wide she is a japanese confections to take a very long time to make because this all made by hand, we shape the mall and we like to have fun with it. and there same kind of thing. it's like a good indication of the so these are all made from white being in me. so you have netted key here, which is a kind cheat and a key with much inside. this is what's called which a little bit of fruit juice moshi. and then this something kind of fun. it's black, sesame, much she with the red being inside. we shape it in that shape of pebbles that's cool. really want people to see this at home. i mean, look at craftsmanship here. i can't believe this is desert. straight up. looks like pebbles. yeah. haha. yes. so these are just like, you
9:21 am
know, kind of the examples that you can find, at that's very exciting. and so before you go, if you can tell people a little bit more about what they can expect if they come out to me, say sure. absolutely. so like i said, it's fine. dining japanese american cuisine. we always try to do something traditional. and also like to kind of push the envelope a little bit. but i think something fun that we do it and you say we always have events going on. so the 3rd closer collaboration we do once a month, we're always doing other events with a sock, a dinners, wine dinners, things like that. i'm always pairing up with chefs from japan or also from san francisco. but most importantly at me say what i think i like people to take away from this is not going to find japanese to that that you would at other you know, there's plenty of sushi restaurants second restaurants in the city, which i love in particular. but from irish that what's that's my restaurant apart you know, it's really pushing the envelope of what japanese and japanese american food can be. and that makes experience all the more new for people who maybe want to do something a
9:22 am
little bit different, but still have that same flavor palette. >> before you go again, do want to hear a little bit more about that event. so what sort restaurants are you collaborating with? and is that all types of cultures from asia. i know that you are. i'm heavily involved with your own japanese culture. but who is being involved in invited to participate this time? and when does that take place? >> so in the past, we've worked with find any mission start ships like we. i had a collaboration with james, shy about from camisa 2 michelin star chef in oakland and he is his first generation asian we've also had ships from japan. we recently had a 3 michelin starred chef again, that sen he's based in but yeah, mostly is asian american chess. but i think going into next year we're going to be opening up to all ships around the world. and so does it all took place at your location everyone every did take place medication, ok, cool. and so when can people come out and taste that? is that happening now? >> right now we're doing a
9:23 am
two-year anniversary dinner, but it. >> they do happen once a month. and you just have to kind of keep an eye out on our reservation system. our instagram, ok, so keep an eye out. you heard it here. thank you so much to do >> yes, schumer for joining us here from new say restaurant san francisco will be right san francisco will be right back.

too. so they could use the rain. but that's the pathway we're looking at. you'll hear more about this later on during the week. meanwhile, in our coast, we lose the element of a cyclone and are off our coast with that high pressure to the north south. we'll give us that he pumped by the middle of the week. but look what happens later on. oh, yeah. bring it on. that's going to break the back of a heat pump that we have by the weekend. maybe some scattered clouds thrown in there. but cooler temps you can bank on. so again, the middle of the week, this is when the high starts to assert itself. the traffic going up and above us. that's fine. all right. wait, we'll get our deserts. there we go by friday, saturday and into the weekend bringing those temps down to the 80's. it looks like lower 80's at so we'll be shaving 10 degrees off. we're seeing today. 4 zone forecast. 74 san francisco, upper 60's around the coast might see some lower 70's, though, to 76 burlingame, 79 foster city, some lower 80's heading down to the southern edge of the peninsula. also to the south bay, 91 morgan hill, 87 los gatos east bay shoreline near

9:49 am
is she could ask the commissioner of baseball. look. if we're going to help them and and lease the stadium out to them, we want to leave the name here. we want to. so at some point, maybe a note special team will come and it will be the oakland a's. so leave the a's name here. when you go to las vegas, another thing she could ask isn't this would be it daring ask would be. if we least the team, if lease a stadium to the team for 3 or 4 years and help them out. we want you to guarantee that when you expand when mlb expands, oakland will be at the top of the list for an expansion team of all those scenarios, which one you see may be playing out. i'm guaranteeing a an expansion team is probably a long shot because it it be hard to get all the owner to say, ok? that because they're not ready to expand yet anyway. so that that would be a long shot leaving the name is a possibility. i think that number one possibility is jacking the the rate there's
9:50 am
no incentive for oakland to do the a's. any favors basic. exactly right. right. and fact, mlb and of kind of and i'm leaving open. but they've kind of insulted and abused oakland on the way out the door of the commissioners kind of ridicule, the fans ridiculed the mayor sheng thao she couldn't get a deal done. a lot of what he said was was b everything. yes, so they have not done any favors. oakland's opens not. in a move to do it during the great things for them. she's got a lot of that ridge because the a's don't have any real options. they have to pretty much play in oakland until their stadium in vegas has completed right? >> yeah, the a's are really short on options because, for instance, if they decide to plan summerland in the minor league ballpark 20 miles outside vegas, major league plate players association would have to sign off on that. and they're unlikely to do that because big league players don't like the plan 125 degree heat with a no refund. the stadiums they? it's not going to be popular with the players association to okay. we're going to play

part of the games in sacramento are going to play part of them over here and sentenced cent for cisco's. it's a mess and the fan base will be right. all over the place right? yeah. and then the giants maybe would let him play for a little bit at >> they could make some money, but they don't want him to take over their stay. exactly. in 8, the giants that the same thing is open. oakland uses that state at the stadium. they read about the tractor shows and monster truck shows right wrestling shows and things like that. and so to the giants, the giants use the stadium for more than just baseball. so and waiting in the wings throughout all of this is another development group that wants that coliseum property to get their project going. >> so the longer the a's hang around and write and that's putting a big delay on their plans. that's another incentive for oakland to jack up the rates and not make it easy for to say opens ready to roll on the development. there's a a group of oakland, people that are ready to develop that property right away. and they're in the process of buying half of it and maybe the other half. so
9:52 am
yeah. and oakland, basically open mayor sheng thao are saying, you know, we would long enough to develop causing property time is now. let's let's get it done. this kind of sounds like the old baltimore colts moved to indianapolis where dead of the night they loaded up trailer's moved indiana and then the fans there got a new team, right, dropped the colts. name that left with the team and became the ravens kind of a similar a little bit of us. and especially the fact that it's kind of haphazard and messily done poorly done right. and and john fisher said he's not interested in selling that. he said that. but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. yeah. so because it i still believe at some point you will the interest in selling team if interest in selling team if the price is right. al

>> all right. we've got some breaking news here. sfpd is saying to avoid the area of townsend and brandon from 6 street to ace because of some police activity. >> we do have a reporter on the way to try to get more information. but that's the extent of what sfpd is saying at this time. so >> if you're not familiar with this area is closer to the financial district by one of the bay bridge entrances. so be ware is you're trying to get to the east bay. >> we have a time. the clock era. do we know you? all right. let's talk about the okay. so we have our 7 day forecast here. is there any questions by chance? is it going to be at all? windy it's breezy in the afternoon and evening. is your tv ation? you know, there's a thermal gradient going on. good
9:56 am
question. what is that happened? what is thermal gradient? that's because give you an example when you open up the oven that's hot and they're in school outside and they're trying equalize or think walsh, that hymns outlets like l area. okay. what everybody so oven in this analogy would be in the far east bay said whatever. pack a jacket, pack a jacket if you're going to the giants game today, out, ok? so the giants game today. i'll tell you what, since we're on have tracker on. but check this out and graphics. why not? we could do this. we've got computers. the thermal gradient mention that's because of the different temperatures that we have across the bay. we know this. our micro climates, right? or dried up and exactly. so if you're coming in from the east bay and you're going to see the giants game for 15 game time, by the way, temps in the upper 60's have some fog coming in late in the ball game here. pun intended, mostly sunny and windy. and look at those temps there. west 20 to 25. so there the

winds i mentioned earlier, they're l a and one other last point here since we're kind of doing this here, want to mention you're going to hear more of this later on in the week ahead as a little tropical system. it's already a tropical storm. now latest update, max. winds of 40 their their projections in the east of the gulf of mexico right up there to the southeast and the gulf stream by that point. good news is is we're not going to be impacting the refineries. that does not look like it. so that will help out on that front. so back to our 7 day forecast, middle of the screen there. you will notice temps are hiding there in the upper 90's to near about 100. however, look on the right-hand side of your screen. wow. grab something stationary. we are falling got about 80 on friday saturday. we're at 82. this is this big low pressure system. it's going to drop south theory of neighboring couple bits of drizzle. but it's going to pick up that marine layer is. we're back to the morning fog. it's quite thick and so forth but will keep those temperatures down with nice
