day here. that's all aloft happening. we were rather we don't see any major weather systems impacting a salafi should say it's all about low level. maureen level moisture which actually starts to clear out by morning. as you can see here as we approach the noon hour. however, it will be problematic along the coast. it looks like you're going to see as much sun going on there today. maybe a little bit. better luck tomorrow. lower 60's cover. good chunk of the east bay. for now, there are some 50's up north. 61. meanwhile, san francisco, 65 san jose in our numbers, by contrast. pretty close to yesterday. trailing just a touch up their up north and 3 degrees ahead for san jose. so again, the morning clouds cover everybody going on. this is even impacting well inland. breaking that up to get the sunshine doing its thing but still cool. we're going look at a lot of 80's both today. tomorrow and we'll take a fall like forecast warned that in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> a bay area woman is recovering after possible exposure to a dangerous bacteria. she lofts. she lost

several limbs kron four's. dan thorn reports. >> a san jose mother's life is changed forever. 40 year-old laura barajas has had her limbs amputated while battling a bacterial infection. scary. it's just been really heavy on all of that's terrible friend anna messina says back in late july barajas had bought tilapia from a local market for dinner. she cooked it and ate it alone. and within days got very ill and was then hospitalized. their whole lives are going to change after this. messina believes the infection was caused by vibrio vulnificus, a bacterial infection. the cdc has been warning about the ways that you can get infected with this bacteria are one. you can eat, something that's contaminated which in some people causes a gust or 2, right us or just a stomach illness. and then the other way is actually by having a cut or a tattoo or some other breaking your skin exposed to water in which this bug lives. >> ucsf, infectious disease expert doctor natasha

spottswood says the bacteria is especially concerning for people who are immunocompromised. the cdc says about 150 to 200 cases of infections reported each year and about one in 5 people with the infection die sometimes within one to 2 days of becoming ill. >> people to take sensible precautions like if you have a cut, avoiding getting immersed in water until its well-heeled, if you are someone who is immunocompromised keeping an eye on these things, avoiding those high-risk activities and foods. messina says she and barajas is family. >> are still waiting to learn more about what happened. thank for what we have right now because it can be taken away reporting in san jose. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> in the east bay, 3 teenagers have been charged in connection with the september 5th shooting at skyline high school in oakland, the alameda county district attorney's office says all suspects were charged with possession of a firearm. district attorney

pamela price said in a statement, quote, we are fortunate that no one was killed or injured in this incident. we're sending the message that if you are in illegal possession of a gun and attempt to harm others, you will be held accountable. a former music teacher, a castro valley high school and creekside middle school is in police custody this morning. keita has to go up is accused of sexually abusing a female student at creekside middle school when he was a teacher. there. investigators with the alameda county sheriff's office believe the abuse continued even after the student moved on to castro valley high school. the high school initially put the suspect on administrative leave. he surrendered at the santa rosa jail on thursday. the state of california is giving out nearly 270 million dollars to several cities to help fight retail crime. the money will go towards local law enforcement and district attorneys offices. san francisco is getting about 17 million. allows one lawyer to be able to dedicate

themselves to the cases from start to finish. >> to be somebody who coordinates with the police and other law enforcement to talk about investigative strategies, what other evidence might be needed before the warrant is issued for an arrest. you that thing where approximately 600 officers short and we relied on overtime that this grant. well allow it to expand those overtime at >> here's a look at other bay area cities that are getting funding. daly city, san bruno at mateo. they file together so they'll split 8 million dollars. san jose police will get about 8 and a half million dollars. noticeably absent from this list, the city of oakland. so what happened there? the board of state and community corrections confirmed with kron. 4 news at oakland did not get any funding because the city missed the july 7th application deadline as kron four's. dan kerman reports that fact has business and community late leader's pretty upset.

>> rocket science to out the grant. you just had to do it in a timely manner and because public safety does not seem to be priority for the leaders in this city. it was not oakland pastor and community leader bishop bob jackson is angry. >> he says crime is as bad as it's ever been. any can understand why those who run the city of oakland left millions of dollars of crime fighting money on the table by not getting a grant application in on time. that was free money. >> for us to be able to debate a lot of the problems that we're having centered on crime right now. and we missed the opportunity because we were negligent because we what we were. reading emails. what why did we do that? what was the a problem to the bureau's really? i mean, would really think about it? >> it's just minute. there's. >> oakland business owner and restaurant tour, chris. rachel owns mimosa on grand and for

the culture. he says everyone from the mayor to the city council to the city administrator must be held accountable for this at a time when rising crime is killing business. oaklanders ar are scared to come out to help you know, for the most lot of people just don't even want to. >> about the house with the fear of someone either carjacking robbed them, written into their car. it like why quite have 2 job on this instance? kron four's reached out to mayor saying taos office. but so far, no response. >> city council president nikki fortunato bas did respond saying community safety is oakland's top priority. and i'm extremely disappointed. we missed a great opportunity to bring more resources to our city. the city administrator is investigating what happened in order to prevent this from happening again. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> happening today, oakland mayor sheng thao holds the first of 2 public forums. the

sheeran here in town. you see his trailer right behind us levi stadium behind us as well. this is going to be even bigger. the crowds are going to be even bigger than what we saw when swift was here in town even beyonce, some here's what's going on. according to city officials, the concert tonight is anticipated drawing 77,000. that's a 07:30pm, tonight. just to compare with with the on they each had sold out concerts swift 65,000 fans that came beyonce 50,000. so we're expecting. >> around 28,000, more fans coming out for cheering tonight. the stadium. >> it's going to be buzzing with excited fans. once more gates will open around 4.30 this afternoon with ed sheeran taking to the stage between 6 to 08:00pm. now big crowds are anticipated. this was the scene last night at his show oakland at the fox the line wrapping around the sidewalk

going down several blocks and with these big crowds in to sup tonight here at levi stadium, caltrain barton bt adding more trains to their services today. caltrain of eta will be providing additional post event service after the concert with one extra train going northbound from mountain view to francisco. that rain will leave a 75 minutes after the concert. bart also run extra trains and special limited service after midnight as well. they're going to run to special event service trains that will leave now peta station around 12:30am, serving limited stops after those regular hours. we also know bar is going to have extra security and extra staff as well. helping fans as they leave the concert tonight. back to you. >> all right. it sounds like it's going to be a fun time. interestingly, not too much of a line at the merge truck, thank you. okay. take a live look now at sfo.

>> yeah, pretty nice and clear out there, although bit overcast. something to keep in mind, maybe a light jacket on. if you play shot. it's like, where are we know? yeah. it was a different perspective. that's not way out. the delivery trucks use you come by there and they're driving, right? right? yes. so jacket. a good idea. really for yeah. for everybody. but doing doing layers if you're inland because we'll get up to about 80. but >> not as warm as we've been seeing in. so it'll be kind of cool everywhere. >> and we've got the overcast cooking, even south bay to their san jose state. checking in with those overcast skies from the surface moisture. the deal with our inversion today is yeah, above us, it's drier and it's warmer. typical, but it's a lot warmer than it is drier. so it's really hard to get this layer of moisture to kind of mix out. so it could be a little sluggish to do that, particularly along the coast. but gives you an idea how well inland that is. if you look aloft, it's pretty quiet. there's a system well to our north nor south.

there's some tropical moisture bubbling up there. that's worth noting way in the future. a little bit to something to keep in mind. all right. 60's east bay looks like up to the north. a mixture of 50's and 60 61 for san jose. i'm sorry. san francisco and san jose comes at 65 now. as far fog concerned, this is very optimistic saying that by early this afternoon, it should clear out even in most cases, even along the coast, maybe a stray shower going on up in the mountains just from daytime heating wash. rinse, repeat here. we do it again for your sunday. now we'll start to see those temperatures move a little bit more. so when we get into next week. but for this weekend on the cool side and even tomorrow with better and faster clearing looks like temperatures will be still subdued. upper 70's even well inland. so again, little flavor of fall coming your way for looks like this weekend. putting it all together. pesky bay area fog there in cloud and all that jazz cool near about 80 well inland and upper 70's for tomorrow. early in the week. mild and sunny 70's

covered the bay will get near 80 inland gradually warming up. we're going to probably get into the mid 80's by the time we get to wednesday thursday. but looks like some scattered clouds here, working monsoon tropical type moisture. there are some models hinting at that bubbling up from jur southeast. that would just be a dry lightning thing. say just that. not so much a rain producer, but that threat of maybe getting some dry lightning. we'll see if that comes together. 68 san francisco got the morning drizzle variable clouds, somebody, one, oakland, 79. meanwhile, 4 san jose and as far as temperatures today will see some of those lower 80's over the east bay hills up to the north bay. we've got those upper 70's at work. 68 san francisco next few days, 78 again tomorrow. by monday. we're talking at about 80 on that front. so what's could be kind of mild? it looks like for the week ahead. but again, watching out mid to latter week wednesday, thursday zone, that dry lightning thing because that's the only thing we have to watch out for for the next 2 months or so as a big threat. yeah, dryland, dry lightning is always a concern

raising >> concerns. well, yeah, i want to have a 45. have more about what's going on with hurricane lee in the east also story for us. thank you so much. alright, weather experts say we are heading straight into an el nino year and that could bring another big winter like the one we had last year. >> kron four's terisa stasio explains. >> one eu is predicted to fryer that to be drier than normal. and we've got we've got jam knoll is a meteorologist and professor at san jose state university. >> he says this year's projection of el nino year could mean that we may be in for a wicked winter, but adds and maybe were complicated than that average is one of the novel in southern california kind near normal in northern california below are all the pacific northwest. >> but again, that's looking looking at average and we. >> and but models of what the ocean temperatures which defined or be you're going to

be is that we're going to into the strong one of the stronger category, see their strong, possibly edging into the very strong category. >> 2 out of the 3 past el nino years did bring a heavy deluge of water. but the rains were stretched over a long period of time. because of that fact, they did not deliver major flooding times. >> you know, only year doesn't get the memo. it's a little bit farther out our into the western pacific or the central pacific. and so that changes the jet stream pattern. jet stream pattern defines the storm track and how wet dry different parts are. >> you know, on the west coast even across the southern of states is i think that when we talk about water and the water that rely on like every single day to make our coffee water our plans. what have you? we need to be ready for anything. so he's been my that's a good job at being prepared. and right now what we're doing is asking our customers and all the folks in alameda contra

costa county to be prepared and quit the east bay regional water district says they are reviewing the projections and preparing for whatever challenges winter can bring their systems. >> she says, although heavy rains helped the district rebound from years of drought, they currently have a campaign encouraging residents to make sure they have backup systems in place. >> bottom line, both knoll and polk say with winter coming. it is best to take steps now to be ready for later. theresa kron. 4 news. a heads up for people living in berkeley. the city test is is testing rather it's. >> outdoor emergency system sirens for the first time noon tomorrow. now these are designed to alert people to life-threatening emergencies like wildfires and tsunamis. anyone within about half a mile of that siren tomorrow at noon should expect to hear a chime. well, the open as you are, has become a hot spot for

thieves. and now the coast guard is stepping in. officers say they're there to help other agencies also on the job. but there are still some questions, including exactly who has jurisdiction in various areas. they've also been discussions about bringing oakland. police are alameda county sheriff's deputies. for now, the agencies are working closely together as the theft problem gets worse. >> to increase our presence in story. that's combination of on water patrols, increased landslide engagements air patrols when those assets are available. >> the coast guard says that this is also a problem than other parts of the bay area. not just the estuary. no further details have been released, but we will update you on any additional information we may get on these potential crimes. >> and leandro police chief abdul pridgen is under investigation over alleged department violation policy violations. now the chief was placed on paid leave on

monday. pridgen was appointed as stanley andrews police chief in 2021. bay area. law enforcement veteran kevin hart will serve as interim chief during the investigation. local police found a person inside a car engulfed in flames friday morning. it happened at 35th avenue and international boulevard near the fruitvale bart station. firefighters were able to put out that fire and get the victim out of the car. >> the person is still in critical condition. police are investigating this case as an attempted homicide. in the south bay san jose police are investigating a deadly stabbing that happened near san jose state university. we broke the story for you yesterday on the kron. 4 morning news officers say a man was stabbed and killed inside of a parking garage near the corner of 4th and san carlos streets just across the street from the school, a person of interest is in custody. jose state released a statement saying no one affiliated with the school was involved. as ever. cisco

some of those scattered clouds lingering into the afternoon. but you should see things open up by the time we get around lunchtime or so showing how far inland that is. this is san jose state for you in kind of the overcast skies to get things started. again, that will clear out, though, as we approach around noon and most the system's aloft are away from us up in the north down to the south. although down on the south, there's an interesting little turn of events for us by the mid to latter portion of the week. something got to watch. see if it poses any threat for us. ok, 60's off to the east bay. up north, a mixture of 50's and 60's. we got 61 both for half moon bay and san francisco and 65 for san jose were pretty close to numbers were from yesterday. if not a couple degrees behind up north and and couple of years ahead down south, it looks like and the breakdown for you today we take care of the morning cloudiness inland that at least by noon hour, we getting to the mostly sunny mode, but muted temperatures. you know, going to be struggling to get to the lower 80's both today and tomorrow and actually tomorrow with better clearing will be a bit cooler. we'll see a lot more 80's early into

meeting after an influx of racist and hate-filled speech came in through zoom. only those attending in person will be allowed to make comments at that meeting tuesday. the public will still be allowed to watch the meetings through the board's live stream or on zoom. police are investigating after a body was found in pacifica of the discovery happened friday evening or the north end of pacifica state beach. the body had to be recovered from the shoreline with the help of the helicopter, the pacifica police department and the san mateo county coroner's office are investigating. well, the 60,000 kaiser permanente workers are set to go on strike if they don't get a new contract agreement by the end of the month. workers including nurses and support staff, say their salaries have not kept up with inflation. there's also claims that under staffing is putting patients at risk if the strike happens, it would be the largest by health care workers in u.s. history. in a statement, kaiser called the union's claims misleading. the

dreamforce conference has come and gone. the world's largest ai and that was a big test for san francisco on safety and cleanliness kron four's. rob nesbitt has details on what changed earlier this week in san francisco. >> when i went to dreamforce this week, there was huge crowds in and around the mosque only center around 43,000 people attended the event and the city seemed to pass the test when it comes to public safety. something city leaders say it's possible year round. dreamforce as ended and the impressive displays around the moscone center on their way out when salesforce ceo marc benioff kicked off the three-day event, he hoped for safety and got it. according to his post on x saying, quote, we have proven that we can achieve our goal of a clean, beautiful and safe san francisco for 3 consecutive days. now, let's do it every day. imagine walking through our city and seeing clean sidewalks, beautiful parks and people feeling safe and secure every single day. not just during dreamforce president of the san francisco board of

clock to get hundreds of bills to the governor's desk. >> capitol correspondent eytan wallace shares more on which proposals made it through. >> applause in the state assembly just before 11:59pm. on thursday, lawmakers beating the midnight deadline to get hundreds of bills to governor gavin newsom's desk. among the pieces of legislation. they approved a resolution supporting the governor's proposed gun-related 28th amendment to the u.s. constitution termed the right to safety resolution. its 4 main pillars include calls to raise the minimum age, allowing people to purchase a gun to 21 years old. it also proposes universal background checks. a multi day waiting period before the gun is released to the buyer and a ban forbidding civilians from purchasing assault weapons. when we talk about >> taking action, this is what it is. it's starting that conversation to see what we can making sure that we have safeguards to protect more and more people are making that a reality will be no easy task legislatures and 2 thirds of all 50 states must first call

for a constitutional convention to debate and vote on the proposed amendment. and 3 quarters of all states must then approve republican lawmakers are opposed to it is naive to believe that common sense gun control will stop criminals on the issue of homelessness. the legislature formally back to the governor's proposed 2024 ballot measure asking voters to approve a 6.3 billion dollar bond measure to fund supportive housing and 10,000 behavioral health beds. and on the labor front, lawmakers sent to bill to the governor's desk on minimum wage. the first proposes an increase to $20 an hour for fast food workers. a change with more than 60 locations nationally in the second proposes an increase to $25 an hour for health care workers. republicans expressing concerns over affordability. somebody has to pay for that increase. >> and at the end of the day, that increases the bills of all those who are already in medical debt. it's coming out of their pockets. democrats feel different and there's

laura barajas has had her limbs amputated while battling a bacterial infection. scary. it's just been really heavy on all of that's terrible friend anna messina says back in late july barajas had bought tilapia from a local market for dinner. she cooked it and ate it alone and within days got very ill and was then hospitalized. their whole lives are going to change after this. messina believes the infection was caused by vibrio vulnificus, a bacterial infection. the cdc has been warning about the ways that you can get infected with this bacteria are one. you can eat, something that's contaminated which in some people causes a gust or 2, right us or just a stomach illness. and then the other way is actually by having a cut or a tattoo or some other breaking your skin exposed to water in which this bug lives. >> ucsf, infectious disease expert doctor natasha spottswood says the bacteria is especially concerning for

people who are immunocompromised. the cdc says about 150 to 200 cases of infections reported each year and about one in 5 people with the infection die sometimes within one to 2 days of becoming ill. >> people to take sensible precautions like if you have a cut, avoiding getting immersed in water until its well-heeled, if you are someone who is immunocompromised keeping an eye on these things, avoiding those high-risk activities and messina says she and barajas is family. >> are still waiting to learn more about what happened. for what we have right now because it can be taken away reporting in san jose, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> in the east bay, 3 teenagers have been charged in connection with the september fish shooting at skyline. high school in oakland, the alameda county district attorney's office says all suspects were charged with possession of a firearm district attorney pamela price said in a statement, quote, we are fortunate that no one was killed or injured in this incident. we're sending the

message that if you are in illegal possession of a gun and attempt to harm others, you will be held accountable. well, the state of california is giving out nearly 270 million dollars to help several cities fight retail crime. the money will go towards local law enforcement and district attorneys offices. a francisco is getting about 17 million dollars. >> and allows one lawyer to be able to dedicate themselves to the cases from start to finish to be somebody who coordinates with the police and other law enforcement to talk about investigative strategies, what other evidence might be needed before the warrant is issued for an arrest. you are staffing, but where approximately 600 officers short and we relied on overtime that this grant. allow us to expand those overtime >> and here's a look at other bay area cities that are getting that funding. daly city, san bruno in san mateo fall together. they will split 8 million dollars. san jose police will get about 8 and a

half million dollars and noticeably absent from this list, the city of oakland. well, the board of state and community corrections confirmed to kron 4 news that oakland did not get any money because the city missed the july 7th application deadline as kron four's. dan kerman reports that fact as businesses and community leaders pretty upset. >> you didn't have to be a rocket science to fill out the grant. you just had to do it in a timely manner and because public safety does not seem to be priority for the leaders in this city. it was not oakland pastor and community leader bishop bob jackson is angry. >> he says crime is as bad as it's ever been. any can understand why those who run the city of oakland left millions of dollars of crime fighting money on the table by not getting a grant application in on time. that was free money. >> for us to be able to debate a lot of the problems that we're having centered on crime

excited fans. once more gates will open at 4.30 this afternoon with ed sheeran taking to the stage between 06:00pm to 08:00pm and big crowds are anticipated. this was the scene last night at his show in oakland at fox theater at sharon. was there the line wrapping around the sidewalk down several blocks and with these big anticipated crowds caltrain barton vta anymore trains their services today today caltrain and vta will be providing additional post event service after the concert or one with one extra train going northbound from mountain view to san francisco. that rain will leave. 75 minutes after the concert finishes. bart will also run extra trains in special limited service lines as well after the show at midnight. they're going to read to special event trains now leave in milpitas station around 12:30am, and they will serve regular hours. but

for u.s. warplanes and that sharon for you because he's performing tonight at levi stadium. you know, in terms of the weather for concert day, what should people expect? well, pretty mild a relief for the day today. stephanie, good morning. good morning, everybody. we are dealing with that morning fog and cloud cover which we referenced earlier from sfo. this is not harmful because >> no delays being reported out that way. this is a little further shot that we typically have. so you can kind of see the towers right there off towards the distance. all right. what's going on here? upstream? not much of anything. it's pretty clear for right now. most weather systems are to our south and north. so this is all homegrown maureen level moisture that we tend to get with the morning fog and so forth. a little slow to clear, though, along the coast, 60's cover much of the east bay up to the north bay, a mixture of 50's and 60's. 61, san jose and 61 for half moon bay. 64. meanwhile, 4 san jose again, this some models, particularly nice and clear in all out here looks like even along the coast, it moves out. but still

san jose state university. >> he says this year's projection of el nino year could mean that we may be in for a wicked winter, but adds and maybe were complicated than that. average is one of the novel in southern california kind near normal in northern california below are all the pacific northwest. >> but again, that's looking that looking at average and we. >> and but models of what the ocean temperatures which defined or be you're going to be is that we're going to into the strong one of the stronger category, see their strong, possibly edging into the very strong category. >> 2 out of the 3 past el nino years did bring a heavy deluge of water. but the rains were stretched over a long period of time. because of that fact, they did not deliver major flooding times. >> you know, the only year doesn't get the memo. it's a little bit farther out our into the western pacific or the central pacific. and so that changes the jet stream

pattern. jet stream pattern defines the storm track and how wet dry different parts are. >> you know, on the west coast and even across the southern tier of states is i think that when we talk about water and the water that rely on like every single day to make our coffee water our plans. what have you? we need to be ready for anything. so he's been my that's a good job at being prepared. and right now what we're doing is asking our customers and all the folks in alameda contra costa county to be prepared and rep oak with east bay regional water district says they are reviewing the projections and preparing for whatever challenges winter can bring their systems. >> she says, although heavy rains helped the district rebound from years of drought, they currently have a campaign encouraging residents to make sure they have backup systems in place. >> bottom line, both knoll and polk say with winter coming. it is best to take steps now to be ready for later. theresa

kron. 4 news heads up for people living in berkeley. the city is testing its outdoor warning system. emergency sirens for the first time tomorrow at noon. >> these are designed to alert people to life-threatening emergencies like wildfires and tsunamis. anyone within about a half a mile of the siren tomorrow should expect to hear some noise like a chime. and the oakland estuary has become a hot spot for thieves. and now the coast guard is stepping in. officers say they're there to help other agencies. also on the job. but there are still some questions that remain, including exactly who has jurisdiction in various areas of where thefts are happening. there have also been some discussions on bringing in oakland. police are alameda county sheriff's deputies. for now, the agencies are working closely together as the theft problem appears to get worse. >> presence in story. that's combination of on water

naive to believe the common sense gun control will stop criminals on the issue of homelessness. the legislature formally back to the governor's proposed 2024 ballot measure asking voters to approve a 6.3 billion dollar bond measure to fund supportive housing and 10,000 behavioral health beds. and on the labor front, lawmakers sent 2 bills to the governor's desk on minimum wage. the first proposes an increase to $20 an hour for fast food workers. a change with more than 60 locations nationally in the second proposes an increase to $25 an hour for health care workers. republicans expressing concerns over affordability. somebody has to pay for that increase. >> and at the end of the day, that increases the bills of all those who are already in medical debt. it's coming out of their pockets. democrats feel different and there's nothing more noble are essential than taking care of people who are sick. >> and we have to take care of the people who do that work for the next month. there will be up to the governor to

very hard to move. lot of 60's in the east bay. we have a still a mixture of 50's and 60's up north with 61, san francisco. 63 for half moon bay and 65 for san jose were pretty close to numbers yesterday. we're probably going to continue to trail, though, because again, a lot of this cloud cover left over from the fog moving from the ground. it just gets stuck right above us here. 75 by 1 o'clock should open up those skies inland very nicely today. 77, about 4 o'clock as most locations, even well inland. probably very few will see 80. and that will be the case again for tomorrow. a gradual warm up. we're expecting by the middle of next week. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> a bay area woman is recovering after possible exposure to dangerous bacteria. she lost several lives. kron four's. dan thorn has more. >> a san jose mother's life is changed forever. 40 year-old laura barajas has had her limbs amputated while battling a bacterial infection. scary.

it's just been really heavy on all of that's terrible friend anna messina says back in late july barajas had bought tilapia from a local market for dinner. she cooked it and ate it alone and within days got very ill and was then hospitalized. their whole lives are going to change after this. messina believes the infection was caused by vibrio vulnificus, a bacterial infection. the cdc has been warning about the ways that you can get infected with this bacteria are one. you can eat, something that's contaminated which in some people causes a gust or 2, right us or just a stomach illness. and then the other way is actually by having a cut or a tattoo or some other breaking your skin exposed to water in which this bug lives. >> ucsf, infectious disease expert doctor natasha spottswood says the bacteria is especially concerning for people who are immunocompromised. the cdc says about 150 to 200 cases of infections reported each year and about one in 5 people with the infection die sometimes

within one to 2 days of becoming ill. >> people to take sensible precautions like if you have a cut, avoiding getting immersed in water until its well-heeled, if you are someone who is immunocompromised keeping an eye on these things, avoiding those high-risk activities and messina says she and barajas is family. >> are still waiting to learn more about what happened. i think for what we have right now because it can be taken away reporting in san jose. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> in the east bay, 3 teenagers have been charged in connection with the september 20 september 5th, rather shooting at skyline high school in oakland, the alameda county district attorney's office says all suspects were charged with possession of a firearm district attorney pamela price said in a statement, quote, we are fortunate that no one was killed or injured in this incident. but we are sending a message that if you are in illegal possession of a gun, an attempt to harm others, you will be held accountable. the

state of california is giving up nearly 270 million dollars to several cities to help fight retail crime. the money will go towards local law enforcement and district attorneys offices. san francisco is getting about 17 million dollars. >> and allows one lawyer to be able to dedicate themselves to the cases from start to finish to be somebody who coordinates with the police and other law enforcement to talk about investigative strategies, what other evidence might be needed before the warrant is issued for an arrest. you are staffing but where approximately 600 officers short and we relied on overtime that this grant. allow us to expand those overtime >> and let's take another look at the bay area cities that are receiving funding daly city, san bruno and san mateo together. so they'll split 8 million dollars. jose police will get about 8 and a half million dollars and noticeably absent from this list is the city of oakland. the board in

states around the board of state and community corrections confirmed to kron 4 news at oakland did not get any money because the city missed the july 7th application deadline as kron four's. dan kerman reports that fact has businesses and community leaders upset. >> you didn't have to be a rocket scientist to fill out the grant. you just had to do it in a timely manner and because public safety does not seem to be a priority for the leaders in this city. it was not oakland pastor and community leader bishop bob jackson is angry. >> he says crime is as bad as it's ever been. any can understand why those who run the city of oakland left millions of dollars of crime fighting money on the table by not getting a grant application in on time. that was free money. >> for us to be able to debate a lot of the problems that we're having centered on crime right now. and we missed the opportunity because we were negligent because we what we were. reading emails. what why

to kron 4 morning news. good morning, everybody. beautiful live shot coming in in the east bay shoreline. that's for the folks like to see some fog. keep those temps down a little bit, which it's doing the trick. >> just nicely. 50's and 60's up to the north bay. we've got 60's off to the east bay. 65 san jose and 61. meanwhile, 4 san francisco. so we go to future cast for doesn't tell us a lot. except it really hits of this fog. really clear. not real. real quickly, but we might have some problem areas along the coast to keep that in mind. not a lot of moisture which negotiate with up in the hills. as you can see. tomorrow, basically fairly dry. that's going to change the middle of the week. however, we do have this

interesting low traversing across our region here will be getting more into that later on. here's the effort into monday morning. you can see the fog returning so for us, this kind of gloomy start and this pesky cloud cover being driven by the slow with provides the lift that gives us this fog in the cloud cover that remains like this use its worst of the high. sometimes though. and then you see warm conditions prevail to the south a little bit. we're going to see mild temps today, you know, not even making about 80 both today and tomorrow. again, that fog cover is going to be problematic. so there you have the east bay shoreline, pesky bay fog and clouds cool with near 80 going for inland. we say near 80 lot of upper 70's we're talking about here early in the week, mild sunny in the afternoons and all that. but 70 will cover the bexar 70's near about 80 inlet and then late in the week. this is what we're talking about. scattered clouds, monsoon, meaning moisture comes the mid-levels of the atmosphere being brought up from the south and

joining us live now to talk about some of the events planned and also about low-rider culture is joe van of an egg associate curator of contemporary art thank you so much for joining us this morning. thank you for inviting me. i'm very excited. talk about the exhibition. yes, and we're excited to learn more about it. but first of all, tell us a bit about low-rider culture and the significance to the hispanic community. >> of lowered a culture for those of you that don't is essentially is an art form that started in the late 40's early 1950's. >> around car culture. so, you know, during that time there were cars, you know, coming out all over the and people were coming back from the wars that was posed for a time to. so as people are coming back from the war and all of these car manufactures and people are working with in cars. it started to become more prominent, you know, people, especially mexican american youth. there's different origin stories as to who made the first but essentially

mexican american youth across, you know, different places started to, you know, look at the time the hot rods are really in vogue right? but they instead what they did was start to lower the cars and slow them down. and brad low a% and slow and so, you know those types of customizations lowering the car and then adding hydraulics later and then pen striping painting the it really and really and interesting important art form that has been part of mexican american communities. but of course, you know, now you see them in japan and brazil in different places. so how even has kind of been influential in other places, right. and tell us a bit about how the museum like the museum's decision, too, want to showcase. so it's interesting because we some of you might know, we've had the dignity that a mural on for the pass 2 years now. and so there's we had first invited artists from far to come in, maybe do a

performance around. yeah. the mural. and when he came to see it, he saw the central figure of the mural quickly kind. got is with the fort stamping machine. so she's essentially this cyborg are like a machine, a hybrid and so he said, you know, instead of actually doing a performance, i'm really interested and and doing a show or thinking about lowrider culture because that's something that i grew up around and been very influenced by it. and i have 2 collaborators to artists to other artists that you know, how we all have been very influenced by this form. and we said, you know, we had already been following these 2 artists and we're very excited to to think about that exhibition. and so, you know, kind of rare at the museum's at the museum, exhibitions. take a long time to get on the calendar. and this one so exciting. our director. we had a new director at the time who i i presented the exhibition too. and he was so excited that it kind of got green-lit and we did the exhibition in 6 months. so it's really but really we worked kind of

intensely. but as you can see, as you will see, if you it's quite remarkable what they were able to produce in that time. sounds like guys really fast tracked this stutter to really make it happened. and we were just showing some of >> there are pieces of artwork that people can expect when they when they go see the how did you guys decide which pieces you want to show it? >> sure. so you know, there there is no low riders itself and the exhibition, so they reference it in many ways and they're really interested in that like the political and the ascetic dimensions of lowrider culture. you know, it is also full of different complexities because, you know, for so long it was also very much and those communities are and also it has often been very male dominated. so they also contend with those histories. and for the most part, they did a lot of new work specific for the show. so you see new paintings sculptures of full mural. that is the you know,

that you see when you enter the exhibition. that was a collaboration by all 3 artists. and it's interesting because many of the existing they customize them an updated them did new paint job. youf know, we're at or did updates them like you do for carson was really kind of interesting that even the the existing work was updated in a way specifically for the exhibition. but, you know, we work very closely. i have to cook curators and we worked very, very closely. we had regular weekly meetings with especially when you make me work like they're checking in every time. what is it? what does it look like? you know, where do we place a, you know, how does it fit relation to each other and other works in the show? so i i mostly work with living artists and on contemporary r. and so it's very exciting, too. 2, you know, see some works for the first time in person. when we started selling mission. so it's all knew a lot of new existing works, but essentially it was really collaborative with our to some of the curators deciding what what works would be the most fitting and other entities.

>> specific pieces that are your favorites that that people have to check out? >> yes, so all 3 artists they wanted to also, it's very maher says so. when you go, you know, for them, it was very important to also somewhat express what it feels to be inside of a low rider. what for them? that sensation of riding in a car with their family, with their friends growing up the music. you know, the sounds how important was for them. and so they've created a sound room, a sound insulation that you go with that? actually, they worked with eddie flores. so who does kind of sound for cars and delay to make the sculpture? so you go inside of the room and it's completely dark and it's just lit by these led i'm kind of wow. sound pieces and they have over 2 hours of music that they selected from different manning a hip-hop, you all of it that has been influential to them. so it

really is a dance space. you can go. you can dance and you know, it's quiet quiet. yeah, quite fun. i think yeah, we have kids and older parents going because it really because of the music. i think it hits different registers and also because you can you can just go and feel and experience. and it's not something that you have to, you know, reader too complicated. sounds very immersive. i like that. >> and if people want to get more information about how long the exhibits going to be running for? how can they do that? so all that information is on the u.s. up on the website. if you look up sitting on chrome, that's name of the show. it is running through december 19th and it is completely free. so we have those calories which is very we have all of the second-floor galleries free. >> we you know, the day we're and the and the lobby space and to several other commissions by artist. so if you do that is, you know, you just get a free ticket at the entrance. and we do have a performance with far as who

>> a redwood city man is in custody, accused of sexually assaulting several children. the san mateo county sheriff's office announced the arrest of 66 year-old sergio perez, juarez. they say their investigation started in march and say there could be additional victims. they are encouraging anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office. and police are investigating aft a body was found in pacifica. the discovery happened friday evening near the north end of pacifica state beh.the body had to be recoved from the shoreline with the help of the helicopter, the pacifica police department and the san mateo county coroner's office are investigating. oakland estuary has become a hot spot for thieves. and now the coast guard is stepping in. officers say they're there to help other agencies also on the job. but there are still questions, including exactly who has jurisdiction in various areas. there have also been discussions about bringing in oakland police or alameda county sheriff's deputies. for now, the

the labor front, lawmakers sent 2 bills to the governor's desk on minimum wage. the first proposes an increase to $20 an hour for fast food workers that change with more than 60 locations nationally in the second proposes an increase to $25 an hour for health care workers. republicans expressing concerns over affordability. somebody has to pay for that increase. >> and at the end of the day, that increases the bills of all those who are already in medical debt. it's coming out of their pockets. democrats feel differently and there's nothing more noble are essential than taking care of people who are sick. >> and we have to take care of the people who do that work for the next month. they'll be up to the governor to decide the fate of that bill and hundreds of others that reached his desk. if you think about it, he's going to, you know, have to acting on 30 or 40 bills every day for 30 days in order to get through all of them. so it's a lot of work on his part. >> and that of his staff and the governor's official deadline to act on these bills

have on the home front of you want a little cooler going to a tumble spirit. we've got that forecast for but all week long. wow. what's going on with this? this is member. hurricane lee. >> well, now it's extra tropical. even those packing quite a good punch here. this tropical storm warning has been end a little bit. not so much. now new england. it's not so much. massachusetts, for example, moved into all of maine. it looks like it's also turning a little bit further to the west. so it may miss nova scotia moving up to new brunswick and also bay of fundy. so that's what peers to be now where this system is treading 75 miles per hour. winds still has hurricanes strength with that. so something that bears watching heavier weather out to the west will still prevail. we're expecting rainfall amounts to half a foot could be with that storm surge of several feet along with that for the new england coast. so here we go as we go forward to the period off, it goes all the way back out into the atlantic and the very high latitudes. very typical when these things get in the higher latitudes, they

get caught up by different source of winds that sent it back out to sea. here's the shot of the bark and arrow off to the distance. you can see the bay bridge a little bit, a little bit of a breeze working here, not a whole lot treasure island hanging in there, too. what we've got going on for tahoe, if you're heading that direction. a lower 70's prevail the next couple of days. we don't see much in the way of interference until the middle to latter part of the week wednesday, thursday. that's when things are start to get interesting as we might start to get some moisture pummeling up from the southeast is still a little earlier to call it quits for the monsoon. here's what goes on. if we go forward with this period here you have it that low, which is off our coast. interesting little twist. itr does for us. it starts to tap into some moisture. see right now it's cut off. but later, it may start to get some of that moisture in come alive and what we're worried about as dry lightning with all of that. not so much the rain event, but you will get some of that happening up into the mountains. 4 zone forecast coming your for today. 68 for
