as we'll see warmer numbers. this afternoon. get a load. 66 by 11 at 2 73. lots of 70's on the board, too. temperatures are going to be interesting to later this week as these offshore winds kick off. we're going to see coastal numbers perhaps warmer than some bay area locations. stephanie. >> senator dianne feinstein's casket arrived in san francisco saturday night. a military flight carried her body back to the bay area following her death in washington, d.c., kron four's amanda hari reports from sfo. >> senator dianne feinstein return to her hometown for the final time on saturday. a plane from the president's military fleet carried her body back to san francisco international airport. >> she died in her washington, d.c., home thursday night at the age of 90, it was just hours after she cast her final vote misses. feinstein. >> representative mike thompson whose district

breed. feinstein's casket was draped in an american flag. it was carried out by military personnel into a hearse for the sinai memorial chapel in san francisco. anybody that comes out comes after dianne feinstein. >> stand her racial versus giants and she is looking so many people up. >> and that was kron four's amanda hari reporting for us. no word yet on when a service and funeral will happened just with senator feinstein's passing raises the question of who will be appointed to fill the rest of her term. governor gavin newsom previously committed to choosing a black woman for the job, but he recently also said it would not be someone who was already running for the 2024 election. a congresswoman barbara lee is campaigning for that spot. she was quick to criticize the governor's decision saying, quote, the idea that a black woman should be appointed only as a caretaker to simply check a box is insulting to countless black women, end

quote, usf politics. professor james taylor says appointing lee now would be a way of acknowledging the work black democrats did during the 2020 presidential election. >> there's a sense of being slighted here. and if that is carried over into 2024 is going to suppress democratic turnout vote. it will definitely hurt gavin newsom in 2028 will because again, of a certain kind of political resentment. >> the primary is now less than 6 months away. no word yet when the governor will make his final decision. a federal government shutdown has been narrowly avoided just hours before the deadline. and after weeks of gridlock among republicans, the deal was struck tonight or rather last night to keep the government funded and running. but only for the next 45 days. kron 4 correspondent raquel martin has more from washington. >> very good news for the country. congress has averted

a shutdown. what does hours to spare before a midnight deadline? senators cleared a short term spending package. democrats and republicans have come to an agreement hours before. the house managed to pass the deal after weeks of infighting among republicans and people have one extreme maga republicans have lost in the end all but one house democrat voted guests and 90 house republicans voted no package produced by speaker mccarthy at the 11th hour would keep the government running for another 45 days. it include disaster relief aid exclude ukraine funding in maintains current spending levels, a deal breaker for some republicans. we have a conference that wants to continue the same garbage that is happening over and over again for weeks. mccarthy try to appease conservative demands to dramatically cut federal spending. but friday, many in that same group voted down a package which included those very cuts, not past the

pivot to work across the aisle. could cause mccarthy his speakership. >> florida republican congressman matt gaetz promised to call a vote to oust mccarthy if conservative demands were not met this, somebody wants to make a motion against me. bring without a deal. millions of government workers military families will start receiving paychecks and many services would be paused. there has to be an adult in the room. >> i'm going to govern. which is best for this country and won't. >> meantime, new york democratic representative jamaal bowman is being investigated by capitol police for pulling a fire alarm ahead of the vote. that alarm went off around noon in the cannon house office building prompting a building wide evacuation woman told reporters hours later it was a mistake and he was simply rushing to get through a door that was usually open. but was closed because it was the weekend. the building was later reopened after capitol police determined it was not a threat. and 3 presidential

hopefuls have now made their case to the california gop convention. their appearance is coming just one day after the republican front runner donald trump spoke our capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports from anaheim. >> donald trump received a lot of attention for his speech here on friday of a comma swami tim scott and ron desantis of since taking the stage to argue why they feel they are best fit to serve the nation. florida governor ron desantis receiving innovation at the california gop convention. he did not shy away from slamming governor gavin newsom in president joe biden for policies. desantis argues have only made things worse. our country's in a state of decline. >> economic decline, cultural decline, military decline. the california model represents more american decline desantis. the speech came hours after former president donald j trump addressed the party while the florida governor went after democrats.

>> welcome back. taking a live look now at sfo. looking like a pretty good day to fly as the sun comes starts to come up from over the mountainside looking like the start of a beautiful day at 7.13 this sunday morning, october. the first can you believe it's already october? dave yeah. that's >> getting into good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and i'll tell you with this weather over the next week. good question is may not feel like october knowing this, but in some ways this offshore wind pattern, unfortunately, is a familiar one. so we're going to be revisiting that folks. the national weather service say don't about it now that will see anything that's going to pose issues about fire weather watch. but just keep an eye on that will be watching it. here's what's going on. the east bay shoreline. just a little haze left over. so not much wait. even fog this morning in the wake of our low, which is now lifted off, winds are relatively calm, kind of very bullet that there

it is in the rockies. you can see in the wake of that, yes, an offshore wind. it's the next system that will move on through. not too too much. the temperatures, what at that initial passage. but again, it's those offshore winds that will make things kind of interesting wednesday for high temperatures because it's going quite very interestingly across the topography got a lot of 50's on the board. some 40's poking out here half moon bay. virtually 48, which by the middle of the week will be different. 45 for nevado? 61 at this hour for any these are current temperatures. now the leftover cloud cover and moisture that's going to contain pretty much in the mountains for today. the return of some of that marine layer sort of tomorrow morning for some fog and all that. but it's back to sunny next couple days as a climbing pattern as we gradually move through the 80's. well inland. but we may see the 90's by the end of the week. okay. early week, sunny and mild again, 70's for the day 80's well inland where we have going on late week after those offshore winds are doing their thing. we're gonna start to see some movement even inland with some lower 90's returning. so almost like a

all so that's when i feel like, you know, i i can make money and get and and then my not to 2016, that's when quit my and i want to art for leaving. so that's when everything started and and i've been living my dream says in the morning? >> well, i i think, you know, every morning i wake up so happy to just create what the next project, you know, and and and i get emails and for to collaborate with people and to do programs have fans sometimes, you know, i do. these works university of francisco or santa clara university local colleges. and that inspire me. you know, i'm ready to inspire the community. and that's that's something that wake me up in the morning. and i'm so happy to go into it.

>> you know, your work is so moving and so many different ways. tell us about the message that you hope to convey to people who see your work. >> okay. you know people see my work. i think, you know, i want people to also feel something like, i won. i don't know. shun and motions yet. so i i see people one day. see my work. the site create different are depends my mood depends. what happened in my life will happen in the world and some people ranges. but looking at you know, this time laughing, too. i don't know that emotions. that's when you know it's working. know that, you know, this is this is working. you know, some challenges that you think are facing the hispanic and latino community today that you really >> hope to. you know, people will address that. the public i the challenges at the lake, latino community, sometimes >> come out come from

washington state in dc know if this strike does take place on october 4th, it will go down as the largest health care strike in u.s. history. with more than 75,000 workers poised to strike 11 o'clock last night, the union said there has been good discussion on number of issues. however, on important issues, they say the 2 parties remain far apart. the union says they've seen up half of resolution on raising shift differentials farah more work agreement, investments in training, but they remain far apart in pay. kaiser permanente in a quote on thursday says it takes any threats to disrupt care for our members seriously and have plans in place to ensure that we can continue to provide high quality care should a strike actually occur? we actually did reach out to kaiser permanente this morning as well. we're waiting for a response back back to 70. all right, tiffany, thank you for your coverage and a vigil.

>> a vigil happen saturday to remember a mother shot and killed at a toyota dealership in albany last week. the 24 year-old lost her life in a targeted shooting, according to police. it happened last thursday morning while the dealership, authorities are r calling this a case of domestic violence. her family says the whole thing was senseless. >> the support i was shocked and hold each and every would she was just all giggles and she loved her came love. king they was like this but maybe i got to stay strong him. >> the victim's mother has set up a gofundme to help family through this difficult time. a center officer is recovering from injuries after being hit by a car. the department shared these photos of the aftermath that happened one 30 saturday morning at the intersection of francisco boulevard east and bellin boulevard. investigators say a

speeding dodged our ran a red light, slamming into the side of the police car. the force of the crash pushed the police car nearly 100 feet. the officer is recovering from minor injuries. the driver was booked into the marion county jail on charges of felony dui and driving without a license. a father and son caught 2 suspects accused of stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from the petaluma outlets. police say on thursday suspects casey canyon and care spencer tried to make off with $18,0in merchandise. but as they ran out of the store, the father and son detain them until officers arrived. police say one of the suspects try pepper spraying the men to escape and did not succeed. suspects have been booked into the sonoma county jail on multiple charges. the crash left one person dead and another injured after they tried to outrun police in san francisco. sfpd says the vehicle was wanted in connection with an armed

robbery and auto burglaries. officers spotted the car around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. they chased the car to visit a c on valley neighborhood. that's where the car crashed between san bruno avenue and men. so street, no word on the condition of the survivor. chp is investigating. so now the county's board of supervisors will restrict public comments at its regular meetings on zoom until the end of the year. they said the decision is due to, quote, escalating challenges of maintaining civility. public comments will be allowed only in person or through e-mail for board of supervisors, meetings as well as meetings for the board of directors for sonoma water and the sonoma county ag caught preservation and open space district county officials emphasize those who wish to address the board during meetings, which are usually held on tuesdays must attend in person. and looking at sports now, former giants head coach gabe kepler is breaking his silence following his termination effective today or rather friday. he released a

our biggest most successful collections that we've had today was wanted that no collection, everything that we've made from the jaw line or to the lips sticks to the eyeshadow palettes had some kind of story behind it from michael cultural roots. some of the colors that i remember seeing from my childhood whenever i would go to trips to mexico. but we still got a trip mexico every year of my family to truck on. >> when you see like young girls like young, like latina girls and when they come up to look at you, like what does that mean to you that you're probably inspiring a whole genera ion? i can't believe i'm a role model to people. >> and i didn't really realize i wae a role model to people and tell my niece actually moved in with me a few years ago. she maybe 15 years old and >> what i want to get out so that we talk about her. >> before she went me, she wasn't doing that great school and when she saw me in at the

endangered california condor or this was big news for us because for the first time in 100 years, we had a flock, 6 bird flock of california, condors in contra costa county, juan pablo galvin, martinez's senior land use manager for the nonprofit save mount diablo. he explains condos are tracked in california by gps. this flock of 6 that was around mount diablo originally started out in this area down by a pinnacles and big school as a flock of 26 birds. most of them went up up up, stopped around the pacheco pass area right here. this extent visited mount diablo, went on to spend the night on so in stanislaw county, which is part of the expansive diablo range. this is great news in a time where we need great news, especially in terms of our planet and nature. the first time in 100 years that a flock of these 9 and a half foot wingspan majestic birds. >> have been in our area. what the diablo range offers. the

these images of the aftermath. it happened one 30 saturday morning at the intersection of francisco boulevard east and belen boulevard. investigators say a speeding dog star ran a red light slamming into the side of the police car. the force of the crash pushed the police car nearly 100 feet. the officer is recovering from minor injuries. the driver was booked into the marion county jail on charges of felony dui and driving without a license. caught 2 suspects accused of stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from the petaluma outlets. police say on thursday the suspects tried to make off with $18,000 worth of merchandise. but as they ran out of the store, the father and son detain them until officers arrived. police say one of the suspects tried pepper spraying the men to escape but did not succeed. both suspects have been booked into the sonoma county jail on multiple charges. a crash left one person dead and another injured after they tried to outrun police in san

nice afternoon for you to today with those temperatures bump up a touch. here's what's going on. the east bay shorelines. you can see to some haze left over. >> as far as the fog, not much of that at all. even at the coast. we've been checking the half moon bay this morning, head in the other direction off the tahoe looks good next week, 60's tuesday and wednesday. as you can see, little warm up there as we're going to get on the home front, too. but we do have some weather traffic, though happening. we're starting to get in the fall season. getting some of this now. here's the slow that we had over yesterday. we talked about give us little in the way of some rain when it marched on through. we're getting some of the backside of it or did some brief offshore winds. but we'll have nice, gradual onshore winds return a bit and some select the spots across the bay. but the highway is open so more traffic is expected for the week ahead. that will be watching. got 50's for much of the east bay. 63 for antioch 50's up north. 57 for half moon bay and 59 for san jose. just briefly into the tropics. there are 2 blogs are watching tropical systems, but the good news is we're all the way out

leftover just that marine layer. no surprise. there's the marine layer and it kind of gets stuck up there a little bit. but basically we're looking at mostly sunny on balance today, headed to tahoe the next few days. we've got 60's going on tuesday, wednesday and on the home front, we're looking a little pop happening by thursday into friday. now back to the satellite picture. there's the leftover low. a lot of recall just yesterday was right overhead. here moved off towards the east. it doesn't have a whole lot of moisture to work with. but what it does, it's dropping some rain showers and even snow showers, which we did witness up there again around tahoe. now that's all said and done. we're going into a couple days of calm. we're going actually warm the next couple of days. middle of the week. it's interesting, however, as we return to its october, some offshore winds now lower 60's line at the east bay shoreline. for now, freeman, a chilly 56. we've got 66 for antioch 50's up to the north bay and 60 for san francisco. the tropics. they're also pretty busy in the atlantic. there are 2 systems there. but the good news is moving away up to north, not a threat to any

land and not a threat to us either. so back to the west coast, some interesting things happening. first things first, we have a front that's going drop forward, get some scattered clouds fronts tend to bring rain usually are can bring rain this go-around know, and that's very familiar for us. and the problem is we get those offshore winds on the backside and boom that poses a problem, folks. the weather service say they think ok and this won't be an issue. but the forecast office out of sacramento does cover our salon like solano county region. so you may be impacted potentially part of the sacramento package. so see that in the middle the week. that's what's going on. so offshore winds the middle of the week here. then we get to the weekend little warm up. as i mentioned in the 90's, looking good. then into the following week, new front this time bringing its friends, some rain. that will be nice. we can take the offshore winds after that. no problem temperatures for you today. 69 san francisco take care of the 60's along the coast. we've got 72 for burning game. 71 for san bruno. 75 foster city.

everybody that lives in the bay area and the housing costs are just so absorbent. so that's something our community is challenged with. also along with that, we're seeing pockets of the bay area. we see substance abuse. that's also a we'll have people there at at celebration to kind of really address kind of the resources that exist within our community. so but really our community open to the entire public to come and just be part of it. we we like to integrate nonnative folks into it. so it's just not an indigenous. our native event. we want people. we welcome people to come in and dance with us and learn about our drumming at our songs and see our list and try our food. and so it's a special day lovely murray. anything you'd like yeah. and and that's why powell is so important to us is because it it does give us to a place where >> we when we're dancing were pain. and as we're praying, we're we're healing as well. and the house is, you know,

it's almost like a ceremony. so it's, you know, having respect, you know, throughout the dot, the arena. it's very important to and again, we wanted to be a safe place for our children to go and be themselves into down son and represent their their own culture by wearing their own delia, singing their songs and again and a wonderful, a wonderful thing to keep keep us connected to our ancestors and our cultural ways. >> i and going back to the day of the event that so tell us a bit about again when it's happening, where it's happening, logistics people should be planning in advance for sure. so it's going to be happening right in the heart of berkeley at center park, which is just one block west of downtown berkeley bart station. so >> it starts at about 11:00am. we'll start with the corps dancing, which which is a particular a dance featuring armed to that arm armed forces, veterans kind of dissipating that special down

south. they do and then will kick off with a grand procession of all times, just kind of representing their regalia and their nations that they come from. and that will be just kind of like a grand procession, grand entry. we call and then this contest dancing off throughout the day. so we have different styles of dancing being featured there. and also we have some special dancers from spring said central america excited to feature them. wallace day off to so we're excited wow them. >> sounds like it's going to be a very vibrant opportunity for people to get exposed to so many different cultures. parking anything people should plan and can is there a okay and the local area? so it does cost. it's also a cow gameday. so it'll be a but so if people are able to maybe take part and that's in the last throughout year, viewers to kind of come in and participate with us. so. >> we'll be going till 6 o'clock that evening to so what kind of wrap things up as
