any rain is maybe a little nuisance, little sprinkle or something. but really being held off until tomorrow is what we're waiting for. our temperature check for you. we have a lot of 50's on the board. 48 from a bottle. 46 going on for half moon bay. but you ca5 see most readings there into the 50's and to give you a general idea, we're about a half a dozen degrees behind yesterday's effort, which is a big change from the middle of the week. now, here's the bigger picture. i know it doesn't look too in bald, but we should see our skies become somewhat more. mostly cloudy for your afternoon, although some inland spots will fare a little better breaking it down for you are somewhat variable clouds. that was what are kind of freezing it again for well inland. by 2 o'clock, though, turning mostly cloudy temperatures, modest lower 70's for highs again, looking at some rain moving on in here for tomorrow. we'll time that all out for you coming up in just a bit. 70. >> it's happening right now. southbound lanes of highway 87

in san jose are closed as caltrans crews worked to repave the roads. drivers thinking of heading into the south bay this weekend should plan for delays and detours. this closure will mostly impact southbound traffic from blossom hill road to east julian street. it's expected to impact travel to downtown san jose where the airport caltrans says the project would take 20 years if the agency tried to completed without closing the lanes. the agency says they will try and get it all done in one weekend. roads are expected to reopen by 5 o'clock monday morning. in the east bay community is mourning the sudden passing of a high school football coach. steve jacoby had just celebrated his 61st birthday kron four's. dan thorn was at last night's game as the team honored to kobe's life. >> de la salle as head football coach left it up to the players to decide if they wanted to take the field friday night after kobe's tragic death and they decided that they did because they believe that's what their former coach would have wanted. a long day. la south

side lines. friday night, there was a big hole. it was left by defensive line coach steve jacoby, who passed away suddenly on thursday that there's a deep due to covid was a great man and he's a great coach. he's been here for almost 20 years. head football coach justin allen. bob, remembering his friend and colleague as authentic and caring off the field to kobe was a mentor for the spartans. young was literally football. he just like you would check check on the kids every like every week i making sure i was in a good mental state he just cater other people. the spartan team honored their former coach with a moment of silence before friday night's game. >> they lasalle's vp of athletics says jacoby was not only important to the sports department but to the school as a whole and you meet someone better and that's going to be arguments going best. it's unfortunate the way it happened unexpectedly. we're just all trying to hang in there together as a >> to get through.

palestinian people. today marks 2 weeks since hamas attacked israel, at least 1400 people are dead. more than 200 kidnapped in response. israel a relentless series of air attacks in gaza killing more than 4,000 people in the process. many of them innocent civilians. we've also learned to americans who hamas terrorists kidnapped during their invasion have been freed. mother and daughter, judith and natalie ron on have from chicago had travel to israel to celebrate a relative's birthday when the war broke out. >> for the past 13 days, just just focused getting them back have this kind of tightness in our stomach of like great, don't any emotion like we have to stay strong. and then this happens and suddenly. that emotion just pours out happiness and joy and fear that they're not ok. >> hamas says it has released the women for humanitarian reasons. u.s. secretary of

ceo mian cohen moved to the u.s. 9 years ago and started a company called hello heart. she went back to check on 80 of her 200 employees who live in tel aviv. well, in israel, she saw how much she says people were in need of aid. >> the members that want to volunteer and help start to grate those aid packages for families that are evacuated from this strike zones and made it. >> she's now putting together a package is with tense rain jackets, foods, food and torts. back here in the bay area. u.s. postal inspectors are investigating 2 robberies targeting postal workers just days apart. kron four's gayle ong has more. >> a u.s. postal worker could be heard screaming during an assault and attempted robbery. u.s. postal inspectors believe this gray color car speeding off as a suspect vehicle. according to the postal inspection service, this incident happened around 3.30

tuesday afternoon. >> in the area of 26th street and san jose ave in san francisco's mission district. i think it's a shame that the male post office people go through this residents throughout san francisco are asked to clear their mailboxes or have mail held at the post office. investigators believe proceeds from exploiting stolen mail are the motivation for these assaults on mail carriers. >> deliver services that we all need today and people hurting him for the harm to as a public servant government shouldn't go to things. latest reported robbery happened thursday on 23rd street between hampshire and york street. >> postal inspectors say mail keys were stolen and provided these photos of the car the suspects used in august. the united states postal service sent a letter to san francisco residents asking for the public's help in reporting unusual activity around carriers, mailboxes and missing mail. the latest reported robberies come 10 days after federal investigators announced the arrest of 10 people who assaulted and robbed a mail

we just saw there. but i get the water colors out for this thing, too. >> we do see some sunshine coming through this enjoy it because it's going to be a bit on the shy side. today is cloud cover continues across the bay. we have mostly 50's on the board right now. there are some 40's at the coast. it will be chilly there. you can see a lot of winds, though, like trees moving at all from camera shots, but along the coast will be that breeze. so it'll be a little chilly. 46, half moon bay. 48 going on from the bottle. again, a lot of 50's out east. 56 59 rather for san jose. so it doesn't look like much. when you take a look at the satellite picture aloft again, the fog concerns. look, they they're also gone as well. but going to keep that kind of considerable cloud cover story, particularly for the coast in the bay again inland. you're going to spare a little bit more in the way of cloud cover going on for today. future cast for let's go through this here for the day today. it's that considerable cloud cover, although there are patches of opening it up. then tomorrow morning, we'll probably start the day before a donny. then with a little

line of some scattered showers working in here better than their some heavier rain that you can see is concentrated up there to the north bay. now you get to mid afternoon. it looks like it's trying to end in breakup but unfortunate since the sunset so early for the day, it's going to be pretty much gone. we'll start to see the skies open up a little bit overnight, although just noticing a nice little chunk there makes its way out to the east bay dropping south throughout the overnight hours into monday morning. here's a look at the game plan. we have considerable clouds and mild for today. 70 ish for the bay inlaad in chile along the coast for tomorrow. where do those scattered showers and rain depending on where you are as a showed you a couple little chunks worth noting noteworthy to get up in the north bay is where you're going to rainfall amounts on this. by the way, couple of dimes up north elsewhere around the bay, probably a nickel or some pennies to throw around mild and steady temps for your tomorrow, by the way, and then into next week we've got sunny a sun and clouds mixture. that's going to be all week long now that will keep temperatures down to a nice, manageable range here.

happened at the corner of 8th and taos and streets. police say the truck driver struck 4 cars and a pedestrian before crashing into a building. >> a crash behind me. so they came from that street over. saw debris flying into the air and then i was scared for my life. so i ran that way. >> truck driver and the injured pedestrian were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 2 other people were treated at the scene. no word yet on what led up to this crash. california will appeal a federal district court judge's decision to strike down the state's assault weapons ban. a judge in san diego struck down the ban saying it violates the second amendment. despite california's efforts reversing the ruling and keeping the ban will be difficult. that's because the supreme court created a new test to determine if gun restrictions are constitutional. >> rule is based on history and tradition and essentially

asked whether or not those types of restrictions were permissible and or present at the time that the second amendment was ratified in the late 17, 100's. >> governor gavin newsom says the rulings insult to mass shooting victims and their families. he added the state's gun death rate is 43% lower than the national average. you may recall that newsom called for a 28th amendment to added to the constitution, which would and numerous gun safety laws. a father and san jose has been charged in the opioid overdose death of his baby daughter. officers say when they got to a home on spinnaker walkway, they found the body of a 3 month-old child. they say the apartment was littered with fentanyl, broken and aluminum foil. they say they found a baby, a baby annor can next to those items. an autopsy showed the girl died from ingesting meth and fentanyl. her father is scheduled to be arraigned on monday. deputies in solano

county arrested 7 people accused of shooting at drivers on interstate 80 deputies say they found these guns inside one of the suspects, cars during a traffic stop in fairfield. no word if anybody was injured in the shootings. a san francisco native, an ex major league baseball pitcher from san francisco has been arrested for a deadly shooting at a lake tahoe home. has the story. >> placer county authorities believe they arrested this masked man and another woman friday in connection with the 2021 murder and attempted murder of 17 year-old robert garry spore. and 68 year-old wendy wood. today we arrested 39 year-old danny sarah phinney and 33 year-old samantha scott. >> for the 2021 murder of robert spore and wendy wood in north lake tahoe area. pasco county deputies say the suspects now in custody. danny sarah feeney and samantha scott knew the victims personally. >> they say sarah fini, a former pro baseball player is

the man behind the mask. seen creeping through the front yard before family members say he got into the house. we did for the couple to come home and shot them. we do believe that mask individual was in fact, daniel sarah phinney placer county deputies last year said gary spore died on scene. but when he would survive the shooting and had enough strength to call 9-1-1, when police arrived, wood was taken to the hospital in critical condition and worked through recovery but died a year later. >> and they loved each other deeply. >> after the shooting, adrian spore, one of the victim's daughters worked with her uncle to put together a reward and website for any information leading to the killer's. now, 2 years later, plus, county officials say both federal and local authorities from california and nevada worked together to arrest both suspects in nevada. scott in vegas and sarah feeney. and ca deputies not yet announcing scott's role in the shooting but say she may have been a nanny for the family or a close family

friend of both samantha scott and daniel sarah are facing murder charges. >> and they're both being held on no bail murder charges in the state and about at this. >> and that was zach boetto reporting for us this morning. sarafina was born in san francisco and went to school in mateo and is the victim's son in law. the 2 suspects will be sent to placer county to set to stand trial. police say home depot worker in sandra fell was hot, stealing money from the store. police say an internal investigation revealed the woman started taking money back in august 2022, the woman made off with more than a million dollars in cash from the store over the span of a year. the woman is booked in jail on embezzlement charges. >> a mob of about 40 people. as you can see there, rants at the 7.11 is second in sacramento county's rio. linda. >> and police believe some of these suspects here maybe from the bay area. police releasing the video just yesterday. deputies say this happened on october 8th after a sideshow earlier that night. the san

francisco teachers union and the city school district reached a contract agreement to prevent a strike and give teachers a raise. the new two-year contract includes a $9,000 raise the first year and a 5% raise the second year. also included is a $30 an hour minimum salary and a 15% raise for substitutes. >> everywhere in tentative agreement is a direct result organizing and advocating by educators, families community supporters who showed up push the district to agree to a fair contract that would stabilize our schools. >> in a statement school district superintendent of the school superintendent said, quote, we are thrilled to reach an agreement with our labor partners that provides are dedicated educators with well-deserved raises. we recognize and appreciate the tireless effort, commitment, inspiration. they bring to the classroom every day. still ahead on the kron 4 morning

this road closure. southbound highway 87 is completely closed down for construction work. we're going to dive into this happening between interstate 2.80, and highly 85 caltrans closing down the highway to do some major pavement repair work. and this will take the entire weekend to do so. construction work started friday at 09:00pm and they plan on opening it back up. no later than 05:00am on monday. and the purpose of this project is to improve the right call. you hand safety and extend the life of the pavement that they are redoing. there are several detours that will help you get around this construction work south bound, eat you can use at that will get you southbound 2.80, us 1, 1, also northbound to 80 state route 17 in 85. that will help you get around the construction that's happening on highway 87 right now. going allow today

welcome back to kron. morning news. good morning, everybody. and not off to a bad start even at the coast. check it out. our picture coming in from half moon bay. lots of sunshine to kind of start the day. however. >> cloud cover intrusion as expected as we get to the late morning and early afternoon hours there, but certainly soak it some to beat watchers. there's you can see walking the coast a little alright, here's what we got upstream. you can see the scattered cloud cover intruding. that will be the story today. kind of setting us up for our story tomorrow, which is one of probably the fairest way saying the scattered showers with some embedded rain. that will be in that as well. amounts will be modest, though, with all of that. but just enough to kind of keep us moist at the surface there to get after dry midweek, warm one at that 50's in the east bay, 60 going on for antioch

at those 50's up north. 48 half moon bay 50. so we've warmed up a little bit. but that sunshine help. and 59, meanwhile, 4 san jose ok to show up in the future cast for here and considerable clouds. you can see really started gathering as we get to the afternoon hours, particularly there are some breaks worth noting, but a lot of that will develop after sunset. here it is tomorrow morning. we've got the rain showers working their magic. so most of the overnight will be uneventful. and then a few hours before dawn for 5 hours or so, got the rain start to work its magic and then kind of another wave moves in. that's a bit more substantive. this gets us to about 4.30, in the afternoon. as you can see by the time the rain starts to taper off and we start to punch through some of those clouds and get some breaks. it will be sunday night into monday. no. still some leftover cloud cover into monday as well. kind of lingering took in the morning hours. but by the middle of the week, it looks like it goes back to a sunny mode, at least for those inland locations. here's the lowdown. today, considerable clouds and

2 other people were treated at the scene. california will appeal a federal district court judge's decision to strike down the state's assault weapons ban. a judge in san diego struck down the ban saying it violates the second amendment amendment. despite california's efforts reversing the ruling in keeping this ban will be difficult. this is because the supreme court created a new test to determine if gun restrictions are constitutional. >> is based on history and tradition and essentially asked whether or not those types of restrictions were permissible and or present at the time that the second amendment was ratified in the late 17, 100's. >> governor gavin newsom says the ruling is an insult, a mass shooting victims and their families. he added that the state's gun death rate is 43% lower than the national average. you may recall newsom called for a 28th amendment to be added to the constitution, which would and that numerous gun safety locks. a father and

san jose has been charged in the opioid overdose overdose death of his baby daughter. officers say when they arrived to a home on spinnaker walkway, they found the body of a 3 month-old child. they say the apartment was littered with fentanyl, broken glass pipes and aluminum foil. they say they found a baby bottle and narcan next to those items. an autopsy showed the girl died from ingesting meth and fentanyl. her father is scheduled to be arraigned on monday. san francisco native, the next major league baseball pitcher from san francisco has been arrested for a deadly shooting at a lake tahoe home. zach boetto has more. >> placer county authorities believe they arrested this mask ban and another woman friday in connection with the 2021 murder and attempted murder of 17 year-old robert garry spore. and 68 year-old wendy wood. today we arrested 39 year-old danny sarah phinney. >> and 33 year-old samantha scott for the 2021 murder of robert spore and wendy wood

into the south bay this weekend should plan for delays and detours here. this closure will mostly impact southbound traffic from blossom hill road to east julian street. it is not expected to impact travel to downtown san jose or the airport. caltrans says the project would take 20 years if the agency tried to complete it without losing or rather closing the lanes agency says they will try and get it done in all one weekend. road roadways are expected to reopen by 5 o'clock monday morning. happening today, a san jose mayor matt mahan is expected to give his first state of the city address since taking office in january. the mayor is expected to talk about homelessness, crime and economic investments in the city. the event happens at the san jose city college gymnasium and he's been a murder suspect is behind bars today. he was wanted in connection with 2 homicides that happened in the parking lot of the san leandro. jim kron four's philippe djegal has the latest. >> since late september, the san leandro police department

>> it's important for quite a few reasons for us. first you know, we like to work with local fisherman that allows us to be very particular what we get so we are busy restaurant power. that doesn't mean we let standards light. so we work with a lot. several local fishman basically down the coast of we try to keep it local. but again, majority from california, a few things from california, a few things that are scouts from th coast. but again, we try somebody fort bragg with your things like this. california caviar mostly for us. it's local fishermen that actually come in through our front door. i bring in one or 2 fish a day, ok? advocate that we get deliveries all day people that's incredible. see, really helping to sustain like the local economies for and and local individual fishermen as out of curiosity. what does it take? >> to get a michelin star and do you know when the guys come in or when the ladies come in from michelin guide. secret

>> 70. yes. if you are driving in san jose going past san jose and santa clara county on highway 87. you're going to want to know about this closure. highly 87. a good chunk of it is blocked off. you can tell right behind us as construction crews continue to work on highway between interstate 2.80, and highly. 85 is where all of this is happening. caltrans closing down the highway to some major pavement repair work. and this will take the entire weekend to complete this project. construction work started friday night at 09:00pm in a plan, a reopening the highway no later than 05:00am on monday. the purpose we're told is to improve the right quality enhanced safety and extend the life of the pavement. but there are some detours we do want to talk about this morning to help you get around this construction work southbound you can use that southbound 2.80, us 101. or northbound state route. 85. there's also other options you can use to get around this construction work. there's northbound to 80 state route

from san francisco has been arrested for a deadly shooting at a lake tahoe home. take was at the weather has the story. >> placer county authorities believe they arrested this masked man and another woman friday in connection with the 2021 murder and attempted murder of 17 year-old robert garry spore. and 68 year-old wendy wood. today we arrested 39 year-old danny sarah phinney and 33 year-old samantha scott. >> for the 2021 murder of robert spore and wendy wood in north lake tahoe area. pasco county deputies say the suspects now in custody. danny sarah feeney and samantha scott knew the victims personally. >> they say sarah fini, a former pro baseball player is the man behind the mask. seen creeping through the front yard before family members say he got into the house. we did for the couple to come home and shot them. we do believe that mask individual was in fact, daniel sarah phinney placer county deputies last year said gary spore died on scene. but wendy would survive

he's running our park and rec department. and this was really his vision. but i worked in wine all through college and a little bit after. so i was always looking for a reason for us to have a wine festival in sausalito soon. as i heard his vision, i was all in and he has done an amazing job more than we could have ever imagined. wonderful. congratulations on, you know, having this all come together. so tell us a bit about what you've brought for us today. showcasing case amazing. so first, i want to say that all of these beautiful platters that you see here are from a store called salt switches on caledonia. we're closing the whole street down. so that stores on that street and she'll have a bush in front she's got lovely artisan products. and then, of course, we brought some fun things for us to yes, is a brand new. just just least just really sausalito liquors. and this is a local got temple. remember the cruising club, very active in the community. parent lend his day job to start the sausalito distillery. wow. so really incredible. and this is his first weekend doing something officially locally

really do get in. okay, mister, tell us a little bit about, you know, you're one. so we make these winds, joseph to rail lines myself and my partner, bobby huffman was unable to be here today. harbors calls >> that's our company front. that's the only one we have left from our second very, very small producers make about 500 case the one year you know, because of that, we don't have want to buy we make this in a very traditional method. we have some whole bunches of grapes and some distant bunches of grapes and it's a native from it. minimal intervention. no new welk, just very, very traditional winemaking, not necessarily for california but worldwide. and how does it feel for you to be participating in the wine festival is also late on south road. when i got i got a text from alyssa asking me to be a part of the event. you obviously smell of harvest. so there was no promises. haha anyway, that could participate and support. i was so happy to be there. and i feel so
