of the city address. his message about keeping the city safe. >> from the area's local news station, you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. >> it's sunday october the 22nd. let's get your day started with a look at the weather with dave sphar. good morning, dave. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. a little bit of petr patter of rain to start your sunday. a bit somewhat roads and all that, not a whole lot of rain. we're looking for all of this and it's going to be very intermittent on and off. >> it's come with some winds to, but we have really mild conditions to get things started. here's the first look at radar and what we've got going on right now is a nice little collection here in southern marin and some moderate rain showers here. but this is all generally speaking drifting towards the east. and this is going to open up a pretty quickly here and we'll go back to overcast or at least mostly cloudy, but not even all of that all day long. so it's going to be very

intermittent all day long. here's a live shot. it looks like on the east bay shoreline with all the overcast skies that we have from this right now showing the whole radio or radar is as total. you'll see if you can kind of make it a little bit of a line to the west. that's going to make its way across the bay as we approach around 10, 11 o'clock this morning and around the noon hour and then it will play out towards the east lower 60's for most the readings you can see here, we've got 60 off to antioch. a 61 down to san jose. but look at this comparison to yesterday where some half a dozen degrees or more ahead of yesterday's numbers. not unheard of. get used to the winter months, particularly we have a little rain event. temperatures tend to be mild overnight. so this is what it looks like from your perspective. basically the east bay in terms of seeing the mostly cloudy to variable, cloudy skies, working and then some showers in here by the early afternoon, a little bit of a breeze with that as well. temperatures pretty mild. the lower 70's of a look at forecasting complete. also, it's coming in next week. 7. all right, dave, thank you for that.

>> breaking news we're following from overnight. police are investigating a deadly shooting in the east bay. let's get right to kron four's tiffany justice. she's live in oakley now for us with all the details on this. he tiffany. >> all right, stephanie, a very quiet neighborhood. but we do know that we're looking into the shooting this morning in here is what we know. what's going show you some video of the scene last night around 11, 20 last night. police and fire was to special home here oakley around shannon wayne, wind flower way on a call about multiple people shot. this is video from the scene. you can see more to plow mulan says arrive with several people on stretches stretchers. there. police say are officials say that when they arrived, they found 4 people were shot. one person was dead. they say 3 others were taken to a nearby hospital. a typical lee quiet night in this neighborhood shaken up last night with one confirmed person 3 others taken to a nearby hospital. we did reach out to oakley pd to gather more information about this and we'll bring that to you as soon as we learn it.

back to you, stephanie. all right, tiffany, thank you for staying on top of this story for us. >> very scary moments there. a car crash saturday in santa rosa during a police happened saturday afternoon on northbound 101. >> at the mendocino avenue offer on-ramp in the video. you just saw a black ford mustang speed past. an suv crashed into a land rover with a family of 3 on board. that family was rushed to the hospital. police took the mustang's driver marcus burton into custody. he was treated for minor injuries and booked into sonoma county jail burns passenger. a 17 year-old boy was treated for minor injuries and released back to his parents. people living in the town of youngsville must now foil their water after e-coli was detected. kron four's amanda hari has the latest. >> this is the second time this year the town is faced a

boil order. it happened back in july, but because of that, they're ready to adapt. >> friday samples collected from the treatment plant at veterans home of california in youngsville tested positive for e-coli. that was the same day showing kim hodges arrived in california from oklahoma. there was a note on the bed at the resort warning them about the boil water order. really and use it when you're faucet brushing your teeth like to happen. so we just take a bottle of water important, you know, over are 2 but they say other than minor inconveniences, it has negatively impacted their trip because the town seems prepared. all the restaurants have been great like they. they haven't even bothered water like when they come out to pour in the picture. it's bottled water and they're cheaper emergency medicine at zuckerberg. general hospital christopher caldwell says these boil orders are usually precautionary. many people can drink that water and be just fine. but there is risk for infection in particularly. >> risk for infection of the more vulnerable folks. he says

it's safe to shower in the water. if you can do it without getting it in your mouth. >> if someone drinks it and does get sick will likely see symptoms and 3 to 4 days and they should reach out to primary care provider. nausea, diarrhea, abdominal cramping. >> and chills would be another level of concern. certainly officials anticipate the e-coli problem should resolve by tuesday. >> in yountville amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> around the world, pro-palestinian groups gathered this week to rally against the war in the middle east. protesters from new york city to australia march together to call for an end to the bloodshed. this comes as the border between egypt and gaza open this morning to allow trucks delivering aid into the region for the first time president biden and lawmakers are pushing to fast track a bill to provide more than 14 billion dollars to defend israel against terror attacks from hamas. not only

is it the right thing to do, but the rest of the world is watching what we did. >> some lawmakers are skeptical of the move as it also provides aid to ukraine. so it could be harder to get the aid package through the house of representatives, which is still without a speaker. by the way. in the south bay, san jose mayor matt mahan gave his first state of the city address since taking office in january. the mayor spoke on efforts to keep the community safe, which includes hiring more police officers to stop sideshows. >> from the start of this year, our work together has been about getting san jose back on track. and getting our city back on track means keeping city hall focused on the basics. basics like ensuring everyone is safe in their home in their neighborhood, in their place of work and in their place of worship. this year, we have pushed hard to maintain san jose status as the safest big city in the bay area and put

ourselves on the past to being the safest big city in ame.ica once again. >> mayor mahan also asked residents to volunteer to help the homeless and help keep the city clean from trash and graffiti. at least 2 people are dead after separate car crashes in the bay area. the latest happening saturday morning on the peninsula. chp says a motorcycle driver hit 2 cars on the northbound lanes of highway 101 just after 02:30am, in palo alto. the driver was ejected off the motorcycle after rear ending one of the vehicles and died. chp has not released the identity of the victim. just a few hours earlier in the north bay, a driver hit and killed a person walking in the road in santa rosa. this happened 10, 40 friday night on the old redwood highway near donna drive. officers say a honda accord struck a person who died at the scene. happening right now. southbound lanes of highway 87 in san jose are closed as caltrans crews worked to repave the roads there. drivers thinking of

heading into the south bay this weekend should plan for delays and detours. this closure will mostly impact southbound traffic from blossom hill road to east julian street. it's not expected to impact travel to downtown san jose for the airport. caltrans says the project would take 20 years at the agency, tried to complete it without closing the >> southbound state route 87, as you can see, operations are happening very we're focused on the mid to southern end of state route. 87. >> down to the connection, the state route. 85, word when get commuters to state route. 85 17, one on one and 2.80. that will get you santa clara county and throughout san jose. >> the agency says they will try and get all that work done in one weekend. roads are expected to reopen by 5 o'clock monday morning. >> okay. today was a historic day yesterday. they gave me the key to the city. this 13 24 magazine street walker or a

>> all right, taking a live look now at the bay bridge. not too much traffic at this hour. 7.13 this sunday morning. and it's looking like a cool start to our day day. >> yeah, i'm actually of a wet start to. yeah, a little caution in the area roads there because it's a bit slick in spots picking the urbanized areas here on storm trackeri 4 kind of monitoring this little collection here in southern marin. this is all venturing towards the east. so expect some of those showers working your way to. however, also see the sun poke out a bit as well. we've got all of this forecast and breezy coming along with all of that as well. so let's put into motion to get the general idea what's going on this. this first line that but there's still yet a secondary one we're expecting later this morning to around the noon hour or so making its way across the bay. at that point, that will be probably the last big shoe to fall. and then it's going to be very, very sparse upstream in this whole thing will be sinking the south. we'll show you this and future cast. okay. lower

60's over most of the district and this is actually a little warmer than it was yesterday because of the overcast skies. that act a little bit of a blanket in some ways and also it's a mild system coming our way as well. now here, let's go ahead. watching the motion here. is that other line i mention this is just after noon and then you can see it making its way right across the east bay. at that point, that's the biggest yet. we're looking from this. so afterwards, it doesn't look to be any more in terms of heavier intensity. you know, the projections with us or are very, very modest. you know, a dine to maybe getting up to 2 dines with all of this. if you really get lucky and you can see the general rotation, this gets us to tonight. now and i'll give you the winds of a minute. and then the sink south for your monday morning. so already opening up the skies and earn us now by dawn tomorrow morning. and then the skies will start to clear up for the afternoon. hours are rough temperatures. a whole pretty steady for the week. ahead here. not bad for october. we have just a little bit of moisture. we've got to the surface there to help kind of taking down the fire threats. here's the onshore

winds. you expect that that will be this afternoon, a little breezy in those typical spots right across the golden gate parking a straight east bay shorelines. you get that constant wind into the afternoon. looks like the repeat that a little bit. maybe tomorrow morning and then into the evening hours as well, because we just got away from this whole system drop out. so scattered showers, breezy mild, got 70 ish going on 60's. meanwhile, the coast for this week scattered bay clouds but sunny inland for the most part. now, we do see a weak system midweek here. it does not look potent enough to bring any real earnest rain, but maybe some coastal drizzle, maybe east bay shoreline drizzle is a possibility with that mild with 70's on tap. so that's another thing. looks like the numbers dropped a little bit on the extended forecast next weekend. scattered clouds. there is another passing system and it looks to be on saturday is what this looks like. and then sunday bore the mostly sunny day least at this point. it does. and we've got mild 70 ish numbers kind of continue. so for today, we'll

keep the skies kind buildup of cloud cover here. although i did say some breaks are still possible. 68 san francisco, 69 oakland, 74 for san jose. not bad. when you consider the fact it's mostly cloudy and some showers mixed in this too. here's in total. it looks like lower 70's in the far east bay still keeping them in the 60's. up north, though, 63 for half moon bay and 73 for san jose. there you have it with those numbers still hanging in the 70's and actually warm and just a touch by the time we get to monday into tuesday with some obviously better clearing going on to some morning clouds with in and says we're getting the puck pieces of systems moving through the not like real juicy and everything like in the winter months in a of the rains. but still it's enough to do the trick to keep us wet enough at the surface. all right. so the jacket brelo ready. okay. thanks a lot to. >> well, the sights and scenes of san francisco have long grace the silver screen, but finding those famous filming locations can be just a bit of a challenge. there is a new app available now that promises to help users explore

the cinematic history of the city. the apps creator says this all started as a pet project. but when he was building up the software you came across a list of locations actually used for filming around the city. >> every single neighborhood in the city has at least one film location, golden gate bridge, obviously super famous. so we've got about a dozen different sites get bridge. i union square. a pretty goat was partially filmed. there. >> so that the conversation was partially filmed. there. >> police chase straight up all over the city. i mean, just everywhere. and so that really jumped out at me. the fact that, you know, part of the city has been left untouched. >> all right. so this app apparently is called san francisco film locations. pretty straightforward, right? it's available for free where ever you download your apps. the developer says he had originally no plans to build this thing out further. but since launching and he started to send out some updates and has even added even more

minnesota vikings. it looks like the niners will be without at least 2 of its star players for the game kron four's. erin wilson explains. >> well, the forty-niners they headed out to minnesota yesterday for their monday night football game against the vikings. that said, though, we did get an update on those 3 injured players in. well, not great news offensive lineman, trent williams. he is listed as doubtful with his ankle injury that he sustained on that play right there against the browns last week that that would be a huge loss for the forty-niners if he's not able to get out there on the offense as chris mccaffrey, who's also listed as questionable with bleak injury. now he was able to get some run into day of practice, but he was very limited with that being the bad ahead for the most his status, not as good the forty-niners they had a ct scan performed on deebo and well, they found a hairline fracture in his shoulder so we will miss the next 2 games and then he will be re-evaluated after the bye

news, one person is dead after a shooting in the east bay. we have the details in a live report. and humanitarian aid is finally being delivered to gaza. but some say it's not enough. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. thank you for joining us this morning. let's get you started this half hour with a look at our forecast. first, dave, i woke up and there was rain falling outside. it was pretty incredible, idaho. yeah. pitter patter of rain going on. kind of a nuisance rain as we got on tap today. but it won't be all day and everywhere. at the same time, it's going to be very scattered about. >> and we're actually watching probably the most principal line to march through across the bay. we'll say at around noon, give or take so you folks in the east bay, when you get plus past 2 o'clock or so. it's pretty much done outside of maybe a little passing sprinkle. here's what you got going on. a radar still hasn't yet developed, but the liner was talking about in southern marin. you can see there just north of the golden gate and you really have the central valley to find any real substantial rain at this hour give you sky conditions. look at this at san jose state. we actually see the skies opening up and

some color is a shun. so again, that underscores not everybody is going to see overcast all day long as well. so a lot of holes on this system here. not real copious in terms of the moisture. rainfall amounts are being projected somewhere across the bay will say about a dine, maybe 2 dives for the total collection. lower 60's cover most of the temperatures and this is a bit warmer than we had from yesterday. in some cases, the on 10 degrees above the breakdown here kind of reflects, as i mentioned earlier about the sky conditions opening up temporarily. it looks like as we approach near the noon hour, late mornings. there's your last shot of rain in the early afternoon and then we'll go back to some partial clearing overnight to see a little bit away, breezy conditions this afternoon. but nothing again. major next week looks to be pretty mild for a nice october week. i'll have more details on that in your 4 zone a bit, stephanie. all right. looking forward to a day. thank you. breaking news we are following from overnight. police are investigating a deadly shooting in the east bay. >> let's get right to kron four's tiffany justice where she's live for us oakley with

the latest details on this. good morning. tiffany. >> good morning, stephanie. we did speak with the neighbor walking his dog this morning. he is shocked that this happened in his neighborhood. he says typically a very quiet neighborhood. we're continuing to look into the shooting that happened in oakley overnight. but here's what we know is taking to the scene with some video from overnight around 11, 20 last night. police and fire was dispatched to this home in or a home oakley around. shannon, weigh in when flower way on a call about multiple people shot. and this is video of the scene. you can see multiple ambulances there with several people on stretchers. fire officials say when they arrived, they found 4 people were shot. one was pronounced dead on the scene. there. 3 others were taken to a nearby hospital for care. a typically quiet neighborhood here shaking up overnight, confirmed by fire officials. one person dead, 3 others taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. we have reached out to oakley pd for more

hummus, press release all hostages immediately. >> and we health conditions. we must ensure all hostages, including israelis and all the nationals can return safely with their families. >> and that was carlos herrera reporting for us this morning. back here in the bay area. a police chase in san bruno ended with a car crashing into golden gate national cemetery. police say that this car was reported friday morning as being stolen, according to san bruno police. the driver sa police and tried to get away but then lost control of the car. the driver was taken to the hospital for injuries and then booked into the san mateo county jail. >> and police palo alto are looking for a stolen motor home. the theft happened saturday morning on darrow avenue near el camino. real the owner was sleeping in his car nearby when he says he woke up to the sound of an engine starting the man tried to stop the thief, but they backed the motorhome up and got away with it. anyone with

information about the theft is asked to please get in touch with lot of police. well, the 60,000 gun safes are being recalled over concerns they could be accessed by children. the u.s. consumer product safety commission force that recall after at least 39 reports that saves were accessed without the correct fingerprints. federal officials also citing a lawsuit alleging a 12 year-old boy died after finding a gun from a breached safe. the affected brands include fortress cabela's and gettysburg. uc berkeley, women's basketball team hosted race for change on saturday. it's the team's 4th time holding that 5 k to raise money for diversity, equality, inclusion, belonging and justice department. the goal here they say, is to create a sustainable change in as many communities as possible. john carlos, a 1968 olympian, was a special guest at yesterday's event. he is well known for the black power salute in 1968.

morning. there you have the skies already opening up, turning somewhat of a variable cloudy story while it's still kind of messy down here around kabul. the forecast today is keeping things kind of on the windy side a bit, although although we have a tropical storm warning still in place, but it still left over some breezy like conditions and those sky conditions are probably improve this afternoon. a little bit. here's the latest on norma max. winds at 60. so tropical storm the eye is actually over the gulf of california. that's warm water, but it's so small so that much time to tap into that before it runs back in the land and this is a mountain chain and western mexico. and that's just going all the moisture out. cause flash flooding. the process, the folks, the hurricane center says by monday this thing will be a tropical depression, but it's still a lot of moisture for the atmosphere absorb what is going on in tahoe tuesday. 62 showers by wednesday. interesting at 54. we do have a weak system that's coming through by that point. let's go and check it out here. drop south on wednesday. from the standpoint, the bay, this is probably be more of a cloud

was driven to dogwood animal rescue in sebastien pool where she had 5 pups and most of them have been adopted. but lesson learned double check on every flight to make sure everyone's on board. as for those i did take 2 of the 4 pups died within 24 hours of landing. i'm told that is not uncommon for pups from a young mother, but mom, food, food and or surviving babies, goldilocks and snow white are now in good hands. in fact, goldilocks has already been adopted and animal and coyote. they have a new home together and are already enjoying their first visit to a local pumpkin patch. >> well, monday marks the start of saving senior dogs week. take a look at these guys. the week highlights the benefits of adopting an older dog into the family. dogs like izzy are now being cared for at senior dog rescue in sonoma county. that group to specialize in helping match older pups with loving forever homes. organizers say that there are plenty of benefits to having a senior dog at home. >> they're extremely grateful.

>> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. it is sunday october the 22nd and let's get your day started with a look at the weather with dave sphar and this morning, dave, pretty chilly and wet out there at least in the san francisco area. yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and treated to a little bit the way of rain. you know, it's something that really does help us out a little bit keeps that ground level moistened up. it's kind of just enough to do the trick. we're sorry for the timing. the better for was on mondey. but >> still that's going to be mind. you can probably get out and do what you need to do with all of this. anyway, we are done with some localized fog in some spots of show sfo earlier now, here's a quick shot of the north bay. we did see a nice little clump down there around marin county earlier that since broken up. now you can see it is up to sonoma county in portions of the east bay as well. the larger perspective as reluctantly uneventful with this. but we're still waiting for the development later on of that last wave that will take us to around the noon hour now. this is the south bay and not as much with sunshine as we saw earlier,

but some scattered clouds and this is something you will see in other parts of the bay throughout the day today, along with cloudy skies and a few little showers going on. so kind of a variety package here here you can see it on storm tracker, 4 to show the whole state. most of the heavy rain is up north. we said that many times during the drought we weren't getting the real big juicy part of it. and there's more, by the way, upstream, other systems. we've got lower 60's going on for a good chunk of the bay and a quick comparison to where we were 24 hours ago shows in some cases were almost what we are double digits in a couple of spots. this is because the cloud cover in this system came in from the mid latitudes, not from the gulf of alaska, which tends to be cold. we have a system by midweek, though, that will be doing that 70 by high noon. got a few showers in portions of the bay the east bay and as well in the early afternoon. coming up in a bit, walk through this rain shower activity for this afternoon. what it looks like into your monday, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> breaking news we are following from overnight. police are investigating a

deadly shooting in the east bay. the victim was just 16 years old. let's get right to kron four's. tiffany justice has been falling for this for that for us all morning. and tiffany, we just we understand that you just got some new information from police. >> right? we have just heard from oakley pd and tragically the victim of the shooting is only 16 years old pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner's office. we have been looking into the shooting, but here's what we know so far. let's take you to the scene with some video around 11, 20 last night. police and fire was dispatched to a home here oakley around. shannon, weigh in when flower way on a call about multiple people shot so shot when officers arrived on scene a short time later, they say they located 5 spent 9 millimeter shells. and this is some video of the scene. you can see multiple ambulances. there was several people on stretchers. fire officials say when they did arrive, they found 4 people with gunshot wounds. one person was pronounced dead at the home

was detected. kron four's amanda hari has the latest. >> this is the second time this year the town is faced a boil order. it happened back in july, but because of that, they're ready to adapt. >> friday samples collected from the treatment plant at veterans home of california in youngsville tested positive for e-coli. that was the same showing kim hodges arrived in california from oklahoma. there was a note on the bed at the resort warning them about the boil water order. really hard not to turn on the faucet and use it when you're brushing your teeth like to happen. so we just take a bottle of water important, you know, over are 2 but they say other than minor inconveniences, it has negatively impacted their treat because the town seems prepared. all the restaurants have been great like they. they haven't even bothered water like when they come out for in the picture. it's bottled water and they're cheaper emergency medicine at zuckerberg. general hospital christopher caldwell says these boil orders are usually precautionary. many people can

now. southbound lanes of highway 87 in san jose are closed as caltrans crews worked to repay the roads. drivers thinking of heading into the south bay this weekend should plan for delays and detours. the closure will mostly impact southbound traffic from blossom hill road to east julian street. it is not expected to impact travel to downtown san jose or the airport. caltrans says the project would take 20 years of the agency, tried to complete it without closing the lanes. >> southbound state route 87, as you can see, operations are happening very we're focused on the mid to southern end of state route. 87 down to the connection, the state route. 85, word when get commuters to state route. 85 17, one on one and 2.80. that will get you santa clara county and throughout san jose. >> the agency says they will try and get it done all in one weekend. roads are expected to reopen by 5 o'clock monday morning. >> okay. today was a historic day yesterday. they gave me the key to the city. this 13

going on for right now. very light line going on across marin across the golden gate into san francisco. but i want to draw your attention to what's out to sea this little collection. now here is that develops the next few hours. that's probably going to be the most impactful line of showers for the bay as we approach late morning noon early afternoon after that point. very, very modest. and throughout the day today, they'll be some breaks in the skies. we already see some down here in the south bay. this is coming in from san jose state. you get some blue skies working its magic, but again, got to put some scattered showers in your forecast as well. so putting into motion here, you can see the development of this line out to sea. and again, the timing again as an approximation few hours for noon. yours afternoon is when it will play out right in the middle of the day, they're lower 60's for much of the east bay for right now. very mild temps to start the day. 57 santa rosa, very typical of the mid latitudes system like this or even coming from the southern latitudes like this, not from the gulf of alaska.

here's what it is on futurecast for. it gets its act together. scattered showers as what we'll call it for everybody. different timing depending on where you are. and by one, 30, it's pretty much done. do want to note some heavier rain showers way far up there in the north bay and making its way across the central valley up to sacramento. so they'll get a better, better heavier dump with all of this scattered showers. take us into this evening with some breaks in the clouds and earnest happening late tonight into your monday. still some wet roads, though. so we'll caution your morning commute on monday. and then during the afternoon would be a day of clearing of some drier air starts to work into this forecast. all right. those winds got him on shore. the pop a little bit this afternoon with our system dropping south in the usual spots is where the numbers start to pop a little bit here for us. we see that the same process into monday as well. little bit of a brief offshore wind event. they're happening that we can take all of that were insulated now because of this scattered showers going on, breezy mild, 70 ish going on with 60's at the coast of that means the bay and inland.

take you to scene and show you some video around 11, 20 last night. police and fire was dispatched to a home here in oakley around. shannon, weigh in when flower way on a call about multiple people shot when officers arrived on scene a short time later, they say they located in found 5 spent 9 millimeter shells. and this is video of the scene. you can see multiple people in ambulances and several people on stretchers. fire officials say when they arrived, they found 4 people with gunshot wounds. one person was pronounced dead at that home. and 3 others were taken to the john muir hospital in walnut creek with non-life-threatening injuries. police say 30 minutes before the actual shooting they were sent to that home regarding a loud party. police believe that there was only one shooter involved and they are still looking for that shooter right now, but confirmed by oakley one person dead, 16 years old. 3 others were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. we're going stay on top of story for you back to 70. all right, tiffany, thank you for your coverage. and we continue

going give parents eyes and get them all there spay and find the but i soon learned i made a big mistake. the pregnant dog. i was supposed to bring back was late getting to the airport and was still in fresno. >> i made an assumption about the new pops which meant reta was left behind. turns out she was driven to dogwood animal rescue in sebastien pool where she had 5 pups and most of them have been adopted. but lesson learned double check on every flight to make sure everyone's on board. as for those i did take 2 of the 4 pups died within 24 hours of landing. i'm told that is not uncommon for pups from a young mother, but mom, food, food and or surviving babies, goldilocks and snow white are now in good hands. in fact, goldilocks has already been adopted and animal and coyote. they have a new home together and are already enjoying their first visit to a local pumpkin patch. >> monday marks the start of saving senior dogs week the week highlights the benefits

been keeping an eye on all of this for us a day. a good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. little spooky at looks like out that way. and this is why the radar has been a little active. but this is the big line. >> that we're watching this going be the biggest weather player for everybody across the bay. the timing will depend on where you are. so we'll start along the coast. san francisco and the north bay here first across the bay into the east bay in the early afternoon. so probably about 3 o'clock or so. it'll be pretty much done for everybody. >> and will be gradually working on a clearing spot. we'll be getting some patches of sunshine, which we see a little bit in the south bay right now. and yes, sfo, there you have it. there's a plane taking off, but they do have a little delay. so just keep that in mind. it's a cooking around a half-hour or so somewhere thereabouts that. so the fog and the low ceilings is our problem or a temperature check. lower 60's to the east to the north not too far behind. 57 santa rosa, 62 san francisco temperatures are actually a little ahead of where they were this time from yesterday due to the fact that

this system is basically a mid latitudes system. it's not one of those guys coming in from the northwest gulf of alaska. they tend to be colder. we're going to have actually one or 2 of those coming by and the next 10 days or so. let's go into motion. we expect today. here it is. give you a general idea. the scattered showers going on by 2.30. most of it is to the far east bay and out of the south. and they'll be some breaks in clouds before sunset. yes, you can't rule out a couple little last-minute hit or miss showers. and then overnight start to open up those skies. turning mostly sunny, probably by monday at noon. we're starting by the afternoon. yes, we're still talking about now. tropical storm norma right there in the gulf of california. and this is very warm waters, but it's not really intensifying. its actually lost a lot of punch since yesterday. it's now been removed from cabo san lucas is you will notice there, but they do have still a tropical storm warning in place. max winds, are you check them out there at 60 miles per hour and the folks in the national hurricane center say probably by tomorrow it will lose a lot

of its punch becoming a tropical depression. there it is. that's a tropical low and all that moisture has to be absorbed by the system. so it means probably flash flooding for western mexico. here's what you have on the tahoe forecast tuesday. 62 down to 54 wednesday. that's another system look out for. it doesn't look very impactful for the bay. however, by the time we get to the latter portion of the week, there's yet another system look out for. here's a longer range forecast for you. we'll get to that wednesday thing here and we'll stop that. there you have. it kind of breaks up little bit by the time we around the bay with more rain showers up north and notice some of the cold. the conversation some colder air mixing that as well. so a little flavor starting to get a change of seasons here. this is more mid latitude here as we get to friday, saturday might have another little hit. a couple scattered showers are still working on timing on all of this. but that means another mild system followed by yet another one. as you can see coming upstream. and that gets in the middle of not next week, but the following week. let's get to and your 4 zone forecast for today. somewhat

$1000 a month to people showing kindness in the community. we first told you about the chris kindness award when the organization gave away its first $1000. and this month, the group celebrates its one-year anniversary. joining us live now to share more is the founder uc berkeley professor alan ross. wait to see this morning. great to see you. thanks so much for having m congratulations successfully celebrated 12 kindness. that's been a great year. yeah. so much fun with this. yeah. just incredible. so. >> for folks who don't know, right. tell us a bit about what inspired you to start this nonprofit. i've been teaching at the haas school of business at uc berkeley for over. >> 30 years now and i teach ethics. i teach law and i knew i wanted to do more outside the classroom. in addition to this teaching that i do. and then after my parents died, i said i need a project to honor them. so i put the 2 together and came up with the idea. kindness award because i know

there are so many kind acts and are area that aren't getting recognized. we talk about homeless issues. crime and everyone seems very so i thought let's focus also shine a light on all the positive things in the community. yeah. and that was the impetus for starting this. and there really are so many beautiful kind acts that are happening throughout city. there are always a to walk us through some of the folks that would have been the winners. yeah, that's the thing. i mean that people been able to meet people every month that are just >> we had a guy byrne whose for 10 years now every thursday goes to children's hospital. does oregon me with sick i mean, makes such a difference. their lives and we were able to, you know, give him some press on this and it was fantastic to get people to hear about and think maybe, hey, maybe i can do something. also the ripple effect. we talk about. yeah, our winner last month was chris who every day in the community he goes and does kind acts not the

spectacular heroic act, but everyday kindness and them. that's been fantastic for me. >> yeah. and how has it been for you to kind of being the person spearheading all of what is that experience been like a just. the exposed to people who are doing all these kind acts of good for the community and then you having the opportunity to really spotlighted highlight them. it's so uplifting again because coming out of covid 3 years couple years of. >> just a lot of depression in the area having to teach from home, not having the contact with students then having this every month again, not just i have an executive director, terry, whose help me every step of the way. lots of my students have volunteered and the need is thing is they've started now chris kindness club on campus. kind acts on campus and the community independent of my that's incredible. it's made me feel

expect through the day and what it looks like into next week. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> breaking news we're following from overnight. police are investigating a deadly shooting in the east bay. the victim was just 16 years old. let's get right get right to kron four's tiffany justice who was live for us in oakley with the latest details on this. tiffany. >> all right, stephanie, we did hear back from oakley pd this morning in tragically we have learned the victim is only a 16 year-old pronounced dead by the medical examiner's office at the scene of where the shooting happened right in front of a home. let's going take you to the scene with video from overnight. we know around 11 o'clock last night police and fire was dispatched to a home here in oakley around. shannon, weigh in when flower way on a call about multiple people shot when officers arrived on scene a short time later, they say they found 5 spent 9 millimeter shells. and this is video of the cdc, multiple ambulances with several people on stretchers. fire officials say when they arrived, they found 4 people with gunshot

youngsville tested positive for e-coli. that was the same day showing kim hodges arrived in california from oklahoma. there was a note on the bed at the resort warning them about the boil water order. really hard not to turn on the faucet and use it when you're brushing your teeth like to happen. so we just take a bottle of water important, you know, over are 2 but they say other than minor inconveniences, it has negatively impacted their trip because the town seems prepared. all the restaurants have been great like they. they haven't even bothered water like when they come out for in the picture. it's bottled water and they're cheaper emergency medicine at zuckerberg. general hospital christopher caldwell says these boil orders are usually precautionary. many people can drink that water and be just fine. but there is risk for infection in particularly. >> risk for infection of the more vulnerable folks. he says it's safe to shower in the water. if you can do it without getting it in your mouth. >> if someone drinks it and does get sick will likely see

at least 2 people are dead after separate car crashes in the bay area. the latest happening saturday morning on the peninsula. chp says a motorcycle driver hit 2 cars on the northbound lanes of highway 101 just after 02:30am, in palo alto. the driver was ejected off the motorcycle after rear ending one of the vehicles and died. chp has not released the identity of the victim. just a few hours earlier in the north bay, a driver hit and killed a person walking in the road in santa rosa. this happened at 10, 40 friday night on old redwood highway near donna drive. officers say a honda accord struck a person who died at the scene. happening right now. southbound lanes of highway 87 in san jose are closed as caltrans crews work to repay the roads. drivers thinking of heading into the south bay this weekend should plan for delays and detours. this closure will mostly impact southbound traffic from blossom hill road to east julian street. it's not expected to impact travel to downtown san jose where the airport caltrans says the project would take 20 years if the agency tried to complete it without closing the lanes.

or at least start doing some research into what that's going to and what that involves. yeah, exactly. a lot of women have put up having during covid. and so now we just want people know that we want them to especially. you know, it's important, too, have that mammogram at least every year. a dealy every definitely don't let it get more than 2 years. so it's been more than 2 years. have your mammogram other certain groups that are going to be a little bit more at risk of cancer the and you know that that we've that they should be aware of. yes. so we have seen that black women ashkenazi jewish women in that heritage group. those groups tend to be a high risk. people who don't really have a high risk if they have what's known as it brc a genetic mutation or other genetic mutations. if

they have a family history of ovarian or cancer, it's important to talk to your doctor to see what your individual cancer risk is to see what the appropriate screening protocol for you is ok, got it. and then the age group, like at what? at what age should a woman be? and what point should they be in terms of when they should start thinking about getting that mammogram? we actually advocate for women starting the age 18, 18 even think about when is the best time for you. start getting a mammogram. it's important for you to find out your family history if you have relatives, first-degree second-degree relatives who had cancer, ovarian cancer. and just to start asking questions to your doctor, hey, you know, like should i be you know, like what should i be looking for when i'm doing self-exams so that you can come up with the screening protocol that works best for you and tell us to about. people who have dense

tissue and how that can affect detection. this is something i actually only recently learned. i think it's really interesting. yes, so dense tissue is not the way that feeling lumbee are what it is it's indicated by a mammogram. so the proportion of your brass that's comprised of tissue. so women who tend to have denser tissue makes it harder to see cancer because it can hide in those layers of tissue. so that's why about half of women in the u.s. have dense tissue and they get notified in the state of california if they have dense tissue and so that's important. know if you need have additional screening done. so the only way a woman can know if she has denser tissue is get a mammogram. it sounds like exactly it is that it's in california. it on your

mammogram and your report. pesos, your radio. just so if you're if you see that a woman, you know, she's she has that dense tissue. you know, you have to basically inform inform them. at that point, do they have to go in for a second follow-up screening just to make sure that. you know that, know, that the screening itself was thorough enough or how does that work? sure. we've it's been known for some time that mammograms don't benefit all women equally with women who have denser tissue. it can be harder to look for cancers. and so for the to the memo ground you know, for pictures of her with something called tomosynthesis or 3 d mammogram. now seeing layers of tissue. i'm up to hundreds of pictures of your so you see things in much greater detail.

its improve cancer detection by about 10%. so that's something that's really key is to obviously detect cancer and its earlier stages. so that's easier to treat. so kaiser offers the 3 d scan. and that's what you would recommend that most women get. yes, okay. if particularly for women who have dense tissue, we do offer that kaiser way work. and stanley andrew friedman. so that's really key. and just to wrap things up here can you walk us through some things that women should be perhaps introducing into their day-to-day now to maybe prevent cancer from showing up later on in life. sure. so we always advocate having a healthy, active lifestyle. so doing exercise and doesn't have to be, you know, really intense kind of cross fit. can just active lifestyle. i'm moderating are limiting the amount of alcohol. if you do drink and

>> want we load them up and we're off. >> jonelle can't resist holding a puppy. >> look you >> we unload the dogs in petaluma. airports were met by odessa, gunn of little trooper ranch. a sonoma county dog rescue. >> so we're going make sure they're healthy. we're going to vaccinate we're going to warmer for terms we're going give parents eyes and get them all there spay and find the but i soon learned i made a big mistake. the pregnant dog. i was supposed to bring back was late getting to the airport and was still in fresno. >> i made an assumption about the new pops which meant reta was left behind. turns out she was driven to dogwood animal rescue in sebastien pool where she had 5 pups and most of them have been adopted. but lesson learned double check on every flight to make sure everyone's on board. as for

>> welcome back to kron. morning news. good morning, everybody. let's go to that radar again there you can see it making its way right into southern marin about to make its way across the golden gate bridge as we speak. let's check in to a live and in person. that's the system to my back ahead of us where the sun is. we're actually seeing a little bit of sun trying to poke out a little bit. it's going to be in intermission now is taking a breather. so basically for most folks across the bay for lunch indoor plans briefly and then get out and the early afternoon check temperature check for you. we see a lot of 60's over the board. in fact, everybody is in the 60 somewhere. the is about 60 even lower to middle 60's east bay. 63, meanwhile, for san francisco, let's go in time this out for what you can expect for this afternoon. so we approach, as you can see, 11 o'clock. there's about the progress everybody seems to be involved at around noon that it's favoring the east bay by 12, one and 2 o'clock in the afternoon by 3. most of that is done and even some breaks

clouds. but you get some sunshine. but there may be some resurgence into tonight. very briefly of a little pulsating light rain shower there and then clearing out tonight and tomorrow. that's norma in the gulf of california as we speak, although that's warm waters. it's a tropical storm now about to hit the mainland. by the way, looks much better in kabul this afternoon. it will still be a little bit on the breezy side. still some cloud cover and some thunder showers. but the worst is all done and over back to of somewhat closer to home tahoe. here's the temperature check for you. putting some rain showers and there wednesday through a system. i'm going to show you this in a bit. the impact in the bay doesn't appear to be as dramatic. but this may even send up some snow to the very higher elevations, although probably not sticking. 54 looks like for the valley. all right. let's go ahead with this forward. this is what i'm talking about right about there with the impact up in the mountains. the colors ation indicating the possibility of some colder air mixed in with that. this system is coming from the north. so that's not a big
