through the golden gate bridge that typical offshore wind but very active into the teens, as you will notice as a you know, the frost advisory couldn't come together for the north bay. so that is not impacting us. that's way way to the north where the winds aren't an issue. temperatures have been on the mild side. look at let 59 for vallejo. 59 also san francisco, the 2 warmest numbers we got on the board here, mostly 50's in the east bay, a chilly 42 for fremont and the contrast yesterday. much warmer all again because of the winds interrupting the cooling overnight. so the breakdown today with everything still in place. got a 60 happening by 11 by 2. 68 looks to be kind of windy early for today as we approach around noon and then by this afternoon, shifting more to a breezy scenario. this dry air is going to be around. looks like for a couple of days. we'll be having more of that in the forecast. 2 thank you very much. our coverage of the red flag warning continuing in the north bay kron four's amanda hari reports. >> from santa rosa where fire crews are reminding everyone to be sick. dry and windy

conditions have most of the bay area under red flag warning. >> national weather service. meteorologist alexis clauser says it's the most expansive red flag warning in the past 2 years. and it comes over a holiday weekend. just don't be the spark. be careful. i know it's halloween weekend and there's a lot of people that. >> maybe you're having campfires or, you fire pit something like be careful. have that bucket of water nearby and just be safe and pay attention to local conditions. the warning is impacting them are in coastal range. eastern's santa clara hills, the santa cruz mountains, the east bay hills. >> and the north bay interior mountains. it has santa rosa firefighters on high alert. it's different than others that we've had in recent where it's not just for the upper elevations, at least for the north bay, but also extends into the valley floors division. chief paul lowenthal says they want the community to do their part as well.

hit tv show, friends for which she was nominated for an emmy. he also received 2 emmy nominations for his guest appearances on the west he also had a very successful film career starring in movies such as fools rush and the whole 9 yards in his 2022. memoir, perry was very open about his long struggle with addiction throughout his life. the exact circumstances leading up to his death have not been revealed. matthew perry was only 54 years old and shortly after hearing the news of perry's death, tributes from costars and fans began pouring in. more. lois has the latest. >> the sudden and tragic death of friends. star matthew perry has really touched a nerve with fans and colleagues pouring out tributes and condolences. many of the people we spoke to here in hollywood say matthew perry will be remembered as a comedic genius selma blair who start as windy on friends in season 9 posted on instagram.

my oldest boyfriend, all of us love matthew perry and i did especially every day i loved him unconditionally. and he and i'm broken. broken hearted, sweet dreams, maddy, sweet dreams. melissa rivers posted on x a high school classmate died today. so sad gone too soon. rip friends was produced by warner brothers who released a statement that reads we are devastated to learn of matthew perry's passing. he was a true gift to us. all our hearts go out to his family, loved ones and all of his fans here on hollywood boulevard. fans are also remembering matthew perry telling us they're devastated by the news. we grew up watching him so like it's honestly kind of sad something like some of that. you idolize a lot like. >> like helping you the showbiz like you look up to him the most because like the super funny, like usual relate to him. so it is kind of sad when somebody relate to pass away. i think it was actually just kind of getting rediscovered is how i felt about it.

>> yeah, you have the issues and has passed but there is >> there's kind like a new light to them. and so this cat. >> was a shock and fans out here on hollywood boulevard say matthew perry's passing has inspired them to go back and watch reruns of friends just to get another glimpse of matthew perry as a comedic genius. that's the very latest reporting here from hollywood boulevard. i'm omar lewis will send it back to you. >> thank you our friend of food delivery. driver has been arrested in connection with an assault on a woman in petaluma. carlos was taken into custody friday. police say he is accused of throwing a woman to the ground. it happened friday evening on pay rand street. the victim told police abroad a failed to stop for them in a crosswalk when he stopped to deliver a pizza. the woman says that she took a picture of his license plate and that is when she says he came over and attacked her prado was arrested on suspicion of felony assault.

saturday marked the drug enforcement agency's national prescription drug. take back day police departments all across the bay area took part in the event. people dropped off unused medications such as e-cigarettes and vape pens during the last drug. take back day in april, more than 332 tons of drugs were collected nationwide. >> that's there is right now about a dozen. young adults that are sitting in a protest at the 50 that is why we are awaiting. the beginning of the game. >> yeah. take a look at that saturday that cal berkeley versus usc game was delayed because of 15 protesters. they sat near the 50 yard line on memorial stadium. police security were able to get them up eventually the game started a few minutes late because of the protest. we are not sure why or what they were protesting about, but we'll

keep you updated as we learn more for macean. that game ended with usc winning 50. the 49. just a day after starting come, police shut down their social media car theft program saturday. the program was meant to help stop car burglaries as they were in process by using direct message or dams on instagram and on acts. now, earlier this week, oakland have reported more than 11,000 car burglaries so far this year. that is a 36% increase since last time. national news, former vice president mike pence drops out of the 2024 presidential race. the announcement came during an address at the republican jewish coalition gathering long lot in las vegas on saturday during a speech he appealed to conservatives to resist what he called the siren song of populism. pence has trailed in polls and his campaign struggled to raise

look outside. you can see mount tam gorgeous out there. sun's coming up, beautiful. but still that alert out there high day. >> theresa, good morning and good morning, everybody. yeah, that's a red flag warning. still with us, look at the coverage area. it's just about everywhere except a little bit of chunk land around the bay which covers the peninsula a little bit. the east bay shoreline. but it's fair to say basically everybody we're looking at the same scenario with those dry offshore winds and the dry part that's actually going to remain after all of this is said and done. we were tired. this at 5 o'clock today. it's still going to be a dry atmosphere in which to deal with all show you that in just a bit right now. first things first, our temperatures i mentioned this earlier with dry air and clear skies with that in the recipe. usually temperatures go into free fall. but the winds kind of say the day, if you will, keeping the air kind of circulates, tend to distribute the heat. you don't get this much the hot and cool pockets going on here. 40's and 50's up north mostly 50's off to the east bay. we've got 58 san francisco, 57 for half moon bay. those coastal numbers are actually be pretty interesting this afternoon because of

their location. follow the wind chill seal that. all right. what we've got going on, look at this is a tree. so was just referencing nice kind of oranges here. there's the east bay shoreline, no issue of fog. all because of those winds. we expect them to take this little pathway right across the carquinez strait, east bay shoreline out through the golden gate bridge. this is going to make this little pop here for about the middle of the day we get to about 2 o'clock. and so we're going to lose that. but with an offshore wind off towards the coast like that, the wind your back that sometimes provides a little bit of extra heating to. so the coastal numbers might actually be on the mild side today with a nice, brisk land breeze. back to the actual measurement of moisture in the air here, the humidity numbers. we like dew points, but humidity is what will show here this afternoon dropping off considerably all through the east bay, south bay and really only a little pocket here at the coast and san francisco are starting to get into really the good double digit numbers. oakland of 26. but still everybody very, very dry at night. the recovery

tomorrow morning. hardly any green and there. but that's only monday. the afternoon it drops off a cliff again because we have the same drier air mass in place. the winds are going to be subsided by this point. we have to recover now and let's take it all the way out through monday night tuesday morning, even and we still haven't gotten back that marine layer. this is very artificially dry up their mount hamilton at the higher elevation. it has to be dry anyway. plus, also a little bit of warming going on towards tuesday. so you compare those 2 and it's by contrast, the humidity levels will be very low today, windy, particularly by midday and we'll call breezy for the remainder of the day. very dry wind, 70 ish for those temperatures. pretty much the same game plan we talked about frost advisory not with us because those temperatures didn't fall early in the week. sunny, early, lower 70's working here tuesday, some scattered bay clouds. then everybody starts to see them. as we approach the end of the week, we have a series of systems coming in off the pacific. you'll see this long-range forecast. and even though we're getting little pieces of the action, that will be enough to get some of

that marine layer in here could start to see a sprinkle. but we are watching shower potential for next weekend. we'll piece that together. we get a little closer there, sunny today. 71 san francisco do about a 73 going on for open. 74 san jose. well inland, you see some lower 70's up north and up to a rather up to the north. you also see 76 santa rosa. look at this 2 east bay shoreline actually warmer than tri valley because it goes over the hills in the air gets compressed and it warms right before it goes over the bay next couple of days. let's keep this gravy train going lower 70's, take us at least to the middle a it will take for halloween and then toward the latter portion of case and scattered clouds. i was all good intentions agreed catch the baby like i do. actually i'm not a big gray beef and as we get near thanksgiving, we're going to commercial here for thanksgiving. >> have 2 people in the set that aren't brady fan door toe for kia. my ok? but that eyes it's okay say. i also that

>> a new report out by kinder care shows that 64% of working parents in california feel overwhelmed with being a parent. >> that's way above the 50% national average. in addition, 74% of working parents in california agree being a parent means constantly thinking about child care, beating the national average of 64%. the report also found that 31% of california working parents have moved to a new area because it is incredibly difficult and expensive to find quality child care. you're going to have to shell out some more money if you want to keep up with the trick or treaters this year report by data assembly shows that prices for candy and chewing gum increased and every state over the last for years, prices are up by at least one 3rd in most states and almost 50% in others. this is mainly due to a spike in sugar prices. those prices have recently come down a little

everybody. the dry air, by the way, that's going to stick around for several days. but we certainly have it for today. >> and the winds are going to be active this afternoon. we're looking at probably the last pop occurring as we get to around noon. that's going to be the one that probably most everybody is going to notice back to the red flag warning. just give you an idea on the map what it looks like in terms of coverage in about 5 o'clock, this will expire. all right. the technically that's for the higher elevations. but you're going to feel them even at the lower elevations. this is basically they're talking as it approaches about 1000 feet or so. and this will also be this afternoon light duty shot here for you of san jose state's there. you can see the nice oranges off towards the distance, although it typically don't get much the way of fog in the morning hours. anyway, there's a look at the winds that's already set up with that offshore flow pattern coming right solano county contra costa county make a hard ash west across the bay and the golden gate going the opposite direction that the fog usually takes. and that's going to intensify a little bit again around noon 1, 2 o'clock and then go back

to more of a breezy scenario because of all those winds, temperatures have been supported. so we didn't get a frost territory. we've got some 40's there. you see some 50's well in place across the board there. 51 san jose and 55 going on for any and it is much warmer by contrast in 24 hours ago because the winds help circulate distribute the heat a bit. we didn't get too much cooling we would had was still air 60 by 1 o'clock by 2 at 68. still looking for some 70's working here. but we might actually see some spots warmer than others that we don't normally see just because they're downwind of while these winds coming up a little bit, it would take a look at that longer range forecast which has actually more of a wet trend for you and also your 4 zone. 2. david, thank you very much. well, now we continue our team coverage of the red flag warning across the bay area. kron four's tiffany justice live in mill valley for us this morning. >> with some more information. good morning to >> good morning. yes. today is another red flag warning day and officials want people to

be aware. it's also the most expansive red flag warning the bay area has seen in the past 2 years. we want to go into this a red flag warning is only should when critical fire conditions are happening. and that's what fire officials are cautioning people about right now. winds are expected to pick up once again. that can create conditions conducive to wildfires. officials expect winds this weekend across the ridges of the north bay east bay and santa cruz mountains. the national weather service speaking with kron 4 asking people to be mindful. >> just don't be the spark. be careful. i know it's halloween weekend and there's a lot of people that maybe you're having campfires or, you fire pit something like be careful. have that bucket of water nearby and just be safe and pay attention to local conditions. >> there are several things you can do to prevent fires and wildfires from happening. making sure that you properly discard cigarettes, keeping
