>> i'm meteorologist brittany begley. keeping a close eye on your conditions as we plan your sunday. the good news, a live look again at the golden gate bridge showing clear conditions for the most part. that's the good news that sense of the tone that we're not dealing with any fog but no corner of your screen. again, we've been showing you this because it does show you that we're still dealing with some slightly breezy conditions as we start your day planning out the rest of sunday into monday. thankfully we're not dealing with conditions. that's the good news. but what we're continue to watch future cast for places like seattle have the atmospheric places overnight. some places getting close to 2 inches of rain. plus we have
9:13 am
in the corner your screen. you can see some snow in the mountains. we're not dealing with rain. we're not dealing with snow. that wasn't the story a couple days ago, but we aren't dealing with that. but we are still dealing with those colder temperatures, especially to the north. and as we fast-forward radar, you can still see we're going to be dealing with cloudy conditions. thankfully, we're just not dealing with wet conditions. chilly temperatures frost advisory still until 10 o'clock, those temperatures slowly warming up. we started the newscast a couple hours ago. we're looking at temperatures at santa rosa right there at 30. and we always say we get to those colder temperatures, which we will see the next couple of days make sure to cover your plants that night. so those holes and cracks and keep water flowing to protect your pipes because those temperatures are going to be colder overnight. they're just going slowly start to look better for us. temperatures right now as we speak. so watching santa rosa, that frost advisory again going expire at 10 o'clock upper 30's to the north. temperatures happen bay at 51. otherwise we're right there at the lower 40's. so upper 30's and 40's for temperatures right now as we speak. but
9:14 am
those highs around 2 o'clock. we're going to be the upper 50's and 60's for the entire region. and you can see that santa rosa, you started off at 30, but by 2, you're going to be right there at 62 napa. you'll be at 60 inland. you're in the upper 50's and 60's and down south where the upper 50's and 60's. so pleasant afternoon. it's just a chilly start and it's chilly evening. so again, santa rosa, you're going to be just above freezing at 33 will stay and the upper 40's for the entire region overnight and the 7 day forecast just showing you those lows are going to be just above freezing inland. paying coast are going to be in the lower 40's and those temperatures for highs. going to be pleasant. stephanie will stay in the 60's. alright, brittany, thank you. >> overeating and over. drinking is something that can easily happen during the holidays as people get together with family and friends or if people are simply experiencing seasonal depression. joining us live now with tips to help cope with the overindulgence that can happen this time of year is our health expert karen
9:15 am
owoc the morning to you, karen. good morning, stephanie southern. this is a pretty serious and it's a real issue. i mean, how we avoid this overindulgence? >> well, number one is to recognize that you are drinking or eating emotionally emotional eating is when you are eating as a result of some type of emotion you're triggered by maybe sadness or stressed. >> so you're grabbing those comfort foods like the sugar and and the fatty foods and then emotional drinking. his is similar except you're doing you're reaching for the alcohol. it's a way to sue. sue emotions. >> i see. and so what are some ways that people can, i suppose recognize when they are maybe >> doing the emotional eating and drinking >> well, first of all emotional drinking, first of all, people will do this because of the fact that the
9:16 am
alcohol, it is a depressant. so it's going to slow down your central nervous system. so you're going to feel more relaxed. you're going to feel calmer at first. but then after that wears off, you're actually going to feel more anxiety and more guilt and shame. and then number 2, what happens also is out with alcohol. it you you don't feel as much you feel more in less inhibited. you feel less stressed. you don't have that memory like you, you would without the alcohol. so it's one way to kind of distance yourself from and you kind of stress or some kind challenging your life. so that's a clue if you're really you have a lot of challenges and in stress in your life, then take be aware of what's going on and how you're behaving with food or also
9:17 am
food, alcohol, it's lot easier to grab that than having to deal with. the most ins are how to deal with these emotions. so really it sounds like the self awareness is a big piece. tell exactly right you know, you also mention it's important not to associate the drinking in the evening with relaxing and feeling better, right? right. and that's what a lot of people do. >> a lot of people say, well, i'm doing because i like the like the buzz. and that's it's something to be aware of when you're saying something like that because what you're really saying is i want to feel better or i don't want to feel this way. so let's look at other ways that perhaps you can relax. and of course, i'm always going to encourage exercise because that's going to increase the endorphins and and just being outside. we've talked about this before. stephanie is being out in nature will help reduce your stress and make you feel more relaxed and and other things like meditation and i'm at a
9:18 am
massage and is it's a really and to do to the stress that you're feeling. and we've we've talked about the breathing exercise to the 4, 7, 8, breathing. that definitely helps to reduce stress and remind us again about that for breathing exercise. so that is inhaling for 4 counts. then holding your breath for 7 and then exhaling out in doing that for time. so cycles of 4 and that will help stimulate the vagus nerve and help calm you down. all right. a good reminder on that one, did what i like to take a chance to also go over this concept that you're bringing up here, which is hangs it. >> anxiety hangs. it when you when you drink. >> you often have a hangover. >> you might have a hangover and and people are familiar with the headache and the but also accompanying that is our
9:19 am
feelings of anxiety. and and we don't always know how to cope with that. or we don't even recognize that we are feeling but it can be very difficult to deal with. so same thing. i see the anxiety and depression in people that over eat as well as over a drink. so one way to deal with that is first to well, not to head and that's easier said than done. but also if you have a food hangover, have you ever had a food hangover, stephanie, all that food coma? sure. maybe like, you know, around 2 or 3 in the afternoon after having lunch. if that's what you're referencing, the south food hangovers are when you over eat, you know, things with a lot of sugar, salt. meet. >> even spices could cause this food hangover. and those symptoms are similar to the that regular hangover. the and nausea, but also the general feeling of law are feeling bloated and just feeling bad.
9:20 am
and then one way to get over. that is to eat things with a lot of fiber. so that will help push things through. so things like the the soup that we had last week. yeah, that's a good one. okay. okay. very good. and the last one mission is not skipping the dress rehearsal. what does that mean? that is really important because when you are faced in sit with situations where you're faced with food pushers or pushers people. they're encouraging stu eat something that you really don't want to or drink something when you really don't want to drink. so always have a script, ready how how to talk and how to respond to these food pushers and and practice and people don't all fun going cold. just like the one going cold going to job interview. anticipate questions and comments and have your script ready. all right. very good. anything else that comes up when it comes to?
