>> for a short time, police did ask people to avoid the area. that's because they were worried for people safety during the protest. >> video posted on the citizen app of a person climbing the tree in the center of union square. they left a pro-palestine sign and a palestine flack. it remained on the tree even after most of the protesters had left. sad part protest is it doesn't matter unless extreme police say they began to get calls around 2 saturday afternoon claiming the protest was going beyond peaceful demonstrations by 4 police were actively telling people to avoid the area. >> police say it was finally resolved around 5.30, eli traveled from richmond to join the protest. he believes especially important for people to remember the war happening overseas during the christmas holiday because christians there can't

celebrate because they're about the square vandalism and property damage left behind messages like free gaza and stop killing children are written in marker. >> eli says he stands by those messages are. >> judy, standing at lectern at any several people were arrested. but police say this is still an ongoing investigation. >> they're asking anyone with more information about the protest to contact them in san francisco amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> this morning, 3 food truck workers are in the hospital with burn injuries. according to the san francisco fire department, a stove ruptured inside of a food truck. also happened near union square where the trucks were parked for the winter walk. the workers were taken to a local hospital to treat the burns. on saturday. firefighters responded to a blaze near the eye. 8.80, this video from the citizen app at this time. the california highway patrol

believes that the fire was started at a homeless encampment that ended getting engulfed in those flames. in oakland. one person has died and another is in the hospital after shooting. police say that shots were fired at around 4.15, saturday afternoon. that toll liquor store over on international boulevard near 71st avenue. police arrived to find one victim inside and another victim outside of the store. the person who was taken to the hospital is said to be in stable condition. no other details are being shared at this time. >> 2 children are dead after a hit and run crash in the east bay. police say that the boys ages 12 13 were killed when a car that they were riding in ran a stop sign and was struck by a cadillac suv. police are still looking for the driver of that cadillac after they took off from the scene. >> investigators say the deadly crash happened at 11 30 friday night at the intersection of g and 6th streets in antioch video shows a mangled blue sedan and water

spewing from a fire hydrant that was also struck at this time. it appears that the 12 13 year-olds, we're the only ones inside of the car when they were hit. we'll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we get more information. >> happening now, the chp is out in full force for its annual christmas day. maximum enforcement period. this runs through christmas day and during last year's inforcement period, they reported the 26 people were killed in car crashes and nearly half of all passengers were killed because or not because but they were not wearing seat belts as what was found out 639 people were arrested driving under the gun. the holiday travel rush is on and thousands of people are doing last-minute shopping before christmas cropper's. justin campbell has more on the record numbers that are being set this holiday season. >> santana row holiday shoppers are dashing for last minute items and we can't find your little oil is alice

expectations. financial stress, unwanted house guest and the need to please can be triggers for the holiday blues. turning what's supposed to be an enjoyable time into anything. but yeah, the numbers are kind of staggering. >> about 75% of suffer some degree of holiday blues. a good 3rd of us. >> have pretty severe holiday blues where we really struggle with especially the sadness and the loneliness affiliated with this. that's why it's really important to remember that you're not the only one suffering awful lot of people are. and doctors say it can take a toll on your health, causing tension in the form of headaches, excessive drinking over eating insomnia, even depression. but there are some things you can do to lessen the impact. remember, things don't have to be perfect trying to make them. so take the joy and spot navy out of the holiday. all so its ok to say no, sometimes.

details. brittany. yeah, we're still tracking a some foggy conditions as we take a look at sfo this holiday season. an estimated 15 million californians are getting the roadways and sky. >> putting a little extra traffic right now. we have some slight delays, not like we're dealing with last but we are dealing with some fog. so again, make sure check that flight status and take the time to get to the airport. want to make sure to have those low beams on big picture showing you up to the north. places like santa rosa of future cast showing you that are going to be dealing with some fog least to the 7.45. it 15 still lingering. there also may be headed to the sacramento area. it looks like on your way there, maybe even to tahoe. you could see some fog on your way in today. so we're still dealing with those foggy conditions breezy but not gusty yesterday. again, we're looking at gusty conditions up to 20 to 30 miles per hour right now. it's kind of calm for the most part. and that's going to be the theme today. so we'll take that slowly picking up over the coast. but overall, not as bad as it was yesterday, but i

wants the delegates going to be about you can see it as we go into tuesday. we're going upper 50's for us. but everybody wants to know when is it going to rain? because some places again did receive 3 to 4 inches. so wednesday is our next chance for rain. and we'll have a couple rainy days after that. so enjoy it. we are looking about an inch to 2 inches with this next system. so at least a little bit of a break for santa taking care of week. we were not going to hold complain. thank you so very now to this family run farm in nearby el dorado county. they're making sure that our military service members receive a classic piece of christmas. >> while deployed abroad, briley carroll has that story. >> not only a feel of christmas, but i feel of home nestled in the rolling hills of eldorado county is a family owned tree farm with a long history of supporting our military. we feel we're very blessed to be able to do for located in apple hill. indian rock tree farm has been sending small christmas trees deployed troops for more than 60 years. now my husband and

the once mayor mayor the at the time a year cobb or ally. >> got together and decided they want to centuries to troops where they larry hyder was a veteran himself when he started shipping the trees. he was in the korean war as a he was able to save the lives of many experience of them that he wanted. he wanted them to have. this type of thing to remind them of the love that we have for them and have a strength for their deployment. >> what began as an idea on a win in the late 60's has become a tradition and a promise kept by the height or family. they describe how they gut and they touch it and they smell it. and it just brings back home. we even had reports of service members coming. other other troops coming from 100 miles away to smell a tree. it just means home to them. the trees go to men and women from eldorado county who

are serving. the hyder family says it's their way of saying thank you for the sacrifice. can you imagine being overseas in the middle of of the desert or somewhere know for your family's not around and you're alone and you're probably young. these men and women are serving our country so that i can stand here included with the trees are gifts and cards from the rotary club, the boys and girls club and law enforcement of this young man got one in afghanistan. even include the most recent copy of the local newspaper. so the service members can catch up on what's going on at home. there's so much that they can take from that to give them strength and courage to carry on and to know that they haven't been forgotten. the thank you cards from the men and women overseas are plentiful, but the higher family says the best moments are when they can meet face-to-face with those who get their trees. of the things that are the most special are when they show up here at the farm after they get home. >> and they come here and they find mom or dad. and i we've got pictures of them putting

>> welcome back. we have a state flower. apparently california is now getting a statement sure of. let's take a look at the golden sham trial. it is the largest of its variety. and this is all thanks to san jose assembly member ash cholera in the bill. it states that we have a state tree and flour and it's time to recognize a fungus. has mushrooms play a critical role in climate resilience and healthy soil. this one is usually found under live oaks. it will go into effect starting in 2024. take a look at those bart released its holiday service schedule for both christmas day and new year's day. barton will be running on a sunday schedule so that means that the trains will be at a 20 minute frequency from 08:00am until midnight on new year's eve. it will be an expanded service running until 01:00am. over on the peninsula. a new piece of art is on display in redwood

city and it's called take a look at the structure that's composed of 300 state of the art glass rods. the rods are connected with 3 d printed notes and the tubes are filled with liquid. the the artist tells us represents some of the most prolific crops grown in santa clara county, including cabernet and chardonnay grapes, spinach and mushrooms. it's all part of a a plan here with the city as well as a local curator who is inviting these artists to put their work on display here at the old courthouse square. the artist telling me that this was a really once in a lifetime opportunity that she appreciates. >> them with and out cover ne from the region. >> which state to with old and new and what high tech and low tech and and i feel like it's a beautiful in this space because it's open. to the city. beyond in the light comes through. >> art is visible. 24 hours a day and it closed at night and

midnight on sunday near bridgehead road and main street police responded to calls of a man lying in the road next to a bike who was later identified by county officials. as 41 year-old allow he all had g to rain. officers arrested the vehicle's owner identified as 55 year-old timmy, hud said, but they still have not been able to find his car. it is a 2015 toyota camry. and if you have any information, please contact oppd. well, that's new video that shows robbers armed with hammers breaking windows in cases at sam's jewelers in the solano town center mall. the owner says that the thieves made off with more than 30% of his merchandise. leaving shoppers in shock. >> actually, it kind of it scared me in a way. i had never experienced anything like so, you know, it's kind of like that feeling of like,

you know, are they still in here? >> pretty scary. california recently awarded law enforcement agencies across the state 225 million dollars in grants specifically to prevent organized retail theft. police are asking for help in identifying a suspect connected to a serial retail theft in the town of coma. officers say that this woman took off with more than $8,000 worth of merchandise from a store on coleman boulevard last week. this comes after she's accused of stealing more than $7,000 worth of merchandise into other thefts. she was spotted driving away from the business is in a white toyota and a white audi. anybody with information is asked to call police. and world news now, the gaza health ministry says more than 90 people were killed in israeli air strikes on a pair of homes. israeli military officials say that they're targeting infrastructure needed to take down hamas idea. forces are expanding operations throughout gaza.

also signing up but not announcing it publicly. we saw the uk, france, saudi arabia, united arab emirates all signing up with the main question now is will it work? there have been over 100 one-way attack, drones and ballistic missile attacks by the who these impacting 35 different nations. a crew is still being detained in yemen after who these took them hostage in late november. now as a result, shipping companies left and right have been rerouting from the red sea to a much longer and more costly route around africa to avoid these dangerous attacks. and it's hitting oil prices just as folks are hitting the road for the holidays. the latest company to do this energy giant bp causing oil shipments move immediately sending oil prices up. the concern if these attacks continue and companies continue to fear using the suez canal for an extended period that could impact the flow of oil from countries like saudi arabia and iraq, where bp operates a major oil

supreme court's decision taking former president trump off of their ballot are lieutenant governor eleni kounalakis propose taking similar action in our state now secretary of state shirley weber is responding saying, quote, i'm guided by my commitment to follow the rule of law. she also says any action her office takes will be grounded, unfair. governor newsom weighing in saying that he is against blocking the former president on california's ballot, calling the pitch a, quote, political distraction. so this comes as ramos ramaswamey has volunteered to withdraw himself from the colorado ballot on saturday saying that he is deeply disappointed and desantis haley and chris t for refusing to follow suit and fight back against what he calls flagrant election interference. desantis dismissed stymies call to withdraw, saying that he believes the u.s. supreme court will overturn colorado's case. desantis has been heavily prioritizing campaign

stops and iowa in recent weeks. but hasn't yet been able to significantly impact former president trump's overwhelming popularity in the polls. trump is still ahead by more than 30 points in iowa. despite mounting legal troubles that could inspire other states to follow colorado's lead and remove him from their ballots, too. >> as for nikki haley, she is emerging as a clear second option to the former president over in new hampshire. the next in line, primary after iowa. >> well, congress is home for the holidays, but members are facing 2 looming government deadlines when they get back to washington, d.c., the first of those deadlines is january 19th. that's when the supplemental funding bill expires. house speaker mike johnson cobble together the stopgap bill to avoid a shutdown. just after the ouster of former speaker kevin mccarthy. but many lawmakers say they're disappointed to end the year with only a temporary solution.

3 food truck workers are in the hospital with burn injuries. according to the san francisco fire department, a stowe ruptured inside of a food truck on saturday. this happening in union square where the trucks are parked for the winter walk. >> the workers were taken to a local hospital for treating their burns. and on saturday, firefighters responded to a blaze near the i-880. this video from the citizen app. >> at this time, chp believes that it was a homeless encampment that caught fire. and also one person has died and another is in the hospital after shooting. police say that shots were fired at around 4.15, saturday afternoon over a toll in liquor store and international boulevard near 71st avenue. police arrived to find one victim inside and another victim outside of the store. the person who was taken to the hospital is said to be in stable condition. no other details are being shared at this time. >> 2 children are dead after a hit and run crash in the east antioch. police say that the

boys ages 12 13 were killed when the car that they were in ran a stop sign and was struck by a cadillac suv. police are still looking for the driver of the cadillac because they apparently took off from the scene. investigators say that the deadly crash happened. 11 30 friday night at the intersection of g and 6th streets in antioch. video shows a mangled blue sedan and water spewing from a fire hydrant. there was also struck at this time. it appears that the 12 13 year-olds were the only people inside of the car when they were hit. and we'll be sure to bring you any updates as we get them. happening now, chp out in full force for their annual christmas maximum enforcement period. >> this runs through christmas day and during last year's enforcement period, they reported 26 people were killed in crashes and that nearly half of all the passengers were not wearing seat belts. 639 people were arrested for driving under the influence.

>> meteorologist brittany begley. let's talk about the weather. let's plan for tonight tomorrow. and this weekend as we peak you can see we're still dealing with patchy fog. this is the golden gate really socked in for that's going to be a theme for some spots until 10. 45 hour santa rosa, you're going to see it maybe you're headed to the sacramento tracy triangle. we're still going to see some fog lingering around for the holiday commute. we have about 15 million californians traveling this holiday season. probably going to see some extra traffic on the roadways and of course, in the skies, big picture still showing you up to the north. we have a storm system right here just bringing us those cloudy conditions. we will eventually see some rain, but that rain is not going to head our way until next week. you can see what the tahoe if you're headed there for the we're going to be the upper 40's. so we're not going to see a white but we are going to see chance for showers on wednesday in tahoe and for us locally. so our highs will get will stay in the upper 40's for the tahoe region, the next 3 days

sure. all right. thank you so much for there's a family run farm in nearby el dorado county. that's making sure our military service members receive a classic piece of christmas even while they're deployed. riley carroll has that story. >> not only a feel of christmas but a feel of home. nestled in the rolling hills of eldorado county is a family owned tree farm with a long history of supporting our military. we feel we're very blessed to be able to do for located in apple hill. indian rock tree farm has been sending small christmas trees deployed troops for more than 60 years. now my husband and the once mayor mayor the at the time, mayor clough burrell e. >> got together and decided they want to centuries to troops where they larry hyder was a veteran himself when he started shipping the trees. he was in the korean war as a he was able to save the lives of many experience of them that he wanted. he wanted them to

have. this type of thing to remind them of the love that we have for them and have a strength for their deployment. >> what began as an idea on a win in the late 60's has become a tradition and a promise kept by the height or family. they describe how they gut and they touch it and they smell it. and it just brings back home. we even had reports of service members coming. other other troops coming from 100 miles away to smell a tree. it just means home to them. the trees go to men and women from eldorado county who are serving. the higher family says it's their way of saying thank you for the sacrifice. can you imagine being overseas in the middle of the of the desert or somewhere know for your family's not around and you're alone and you're probably young. these men and women are serving our country so that i can stand here included with the trees are gifts and cards from the rotary club, the boys and girls club and law enforcement

of this young man got one in afghanistan. they even include the most recent copy of the local newspaper. so the service members can catch up on what's going on at home. there's so much that they can take from that to give them strength and courage to carry on and to know that they haven't been forgotten. the thank you cards from the men and women overseas are plentiful, but the higher family says the best moments are when they can meet face-to-face with those who get their trees. of the things that are the most special are when they show up here at the farm after they get home. >> and they come here and they find mom or dad. and i we've got pictures of them putting their arms around this beautiful lady and hugging her and saying thank you. it meant so much to me what you did for me that just gives us so much joy, knowing that we can share that and just reach out to them in a little way and say thank you for what you're doing for riley. carol. >> and for some people this holiday season, it could be filled but here, but for others, it could be a lonely

>> okay, brady. so we've been talking about norad exactly it stands for the north american aerospace defense command and is pretty serious. but it's responsible for airspace. security for the u.s. and canada. but for more than 60 years, they've been the ones providing updates on the location of santa claus and this tradition. i don't know if you've heard of this. it dates back to 1955. when a young kid tried to calm to and they called them and said, let me go ahead and get let me go. find him for you, right? let me put on. back you know, they had an unlisted phone number. they call that instead he got a u.s. air force colonel ice his state because they're like, you know what? if kids are calling us? >> we have got to get santa out there. so love the kindness track where it's at. and yeah, the holiday spirit is kids really love.
