in place. we also see that at the golden gate as well. covering up. you can see the 2 towers at this hour now getting to win that peels off again. it does pretty quickly for those inland spots, but a stubborn area will be san francisco in along the coast, a somewhat variable clouds to kind of put more of a positive spin on it. i guess you will uan completely get rid of all of the fog there throughout the day today. lot of 50's on the board here. some lower 60's popping up here and there. and that quick contrast for you. pretty close to yesterday's numbers with all of that considered our breakdown shakes off that morning fog and we go into sunny skies. 75 at 11 by 2.88. as i mentioned, this is not just one day next couple of days. we don't have any heat statements yet, but some may be issued later. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you for that. we're on top of breaking news this morning. check out this video we got overnight. it shows heavy emergency response presence on the bay bridge. one of our morning producers jt he recorded on his way to the station around 02:30am. you

could see police cars, fire trucks and an ambulance out there as well. all the lights flashing on and we are going continub following that story for you closely here. i should know that our producer also cite badly damaged vehicle and paramedics on the scene right now. multiple lanes on the bay bridge are still shut down. we're asking chp how many cars were involved in this incident if anyone was hurt and if anyone faces charges, we'll keep you updated again on the story and the traffic updates on air and on our website. kron 4 dot com. well, right now, the santa clara county sheriff's office is searching for the person who shot and killed a vta worker. it happened friday night at the boys division. lot offset south 7th street not far from downtown san jose kron four's jeff woman walks us through the investigation. >> i'm so sorry about this terrible incident. a vta employee. it was shot and killed on friday night and for county supervisor cindy chavez. it's still raw feeling

3 years after 9 employees were shot and killed by a disgruntled employee. >> at a nearby bet a lot. you know, for so many people, this is reliving another horrible set of incidents. we don't know much about the employee killed on friday, but we do know is they worked at the sheboygan division lot off 7th street just south of downtown. and this killing has vta leadership stepping up enforcement. people have extra security at all of our yards over the weekend. some law enforcement says there is no ongoing threat to the public or to any vta employees. they call this an isolated incident. but still at the same time, many business owners we spoke with. >> here in the neighborhood just south of downtown say they have not felt safe here for years. >> is. i would lock. novo runs a cosmetology school and supply warehouse down the road. he's been broken into twice within the last year, which is why he's invested thousands of dollars into 3 locked gates as this is terrible. and then it's crazy.

this case, you're expected contact law enforcement reported here in san jose jackie but kron 4 news. >> police are looking for suspects in a deadly antioch shooting. 18 year-old man was killed near karbala road and sunset drive friday afternoon. he died at the hospital. police believe the gunman drove away in a blue gmc sierra pickup truck with a tool rack and black rims. investigators are hoping for leads from the public. and take a look at this video from the citizen app. neighbors forced to evacuate from an apartment fire complex in san francisco saturday. the building is on 6th street just a block away from market street. firefighters say discarded smoking material caused the fire. thankfully no one was hurt or displaced. in the east bay. oakland is getting more automated license plate readers installed kron four's gayle ong takes a look at how those cameras have been helping the community so far. >> we're gonna have another 26 installed by the end of this week and actually might have

been installed just today. oakland police chief floyd mitchell is talking about these flock security cameras that have been installed across the city on thursday. the department shared arrests have been made on several violent crimes this month by gathering video surveillance that identified suspect vehicles. we saw shooting from september 12th of this year. >> a suspect shot at 85. 0, 1, international boulevard. the vehicle was stopped 2 days later a suspect was arrested who ultimately confessed to the shooting. a firearm was also recovered. >> opd at the cameras helped id suspect vehicles in a robbery in road rage incident. the locations of where the cameras are placed are in oakland's hot spots identified by opd. it also helps of other bay area cities have the same system. if we know the suspect vehicle, we put that flock and outside agencies that have access to flock will be alerted if it goes into their city. >> oakland privacy advisory commission approved to have the cameras installed last year. opd will hold on to the

footage for only 30 days to investigate crimes. the technology will not capture people's faces. a concern of civil liberties groups. the city's goal is to have about. >> 300 flock cameras installed by the end of october or early november. and if you decide that you're going to commit a crime in the city of oakland, you may need maybe not caught today. you may not be cut tomorrow. normally you maybe will be caught this week. but just know that we have the data that is needed now to ensure that we apprehend those who are causing havoc in our communities. reporting in oakland, gayle ong kron, 4 news. >> happening now, caltrans closed a section of i-680, for the weekend. crews install new pavement on 6.80, southbound between alcosta boulevard in san ramon. in the i 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton. the closure is set to last until for monday morning. more details and detours can be found on our website. kron 4 dot com. homeless advocates

san francisco asking for more public restrooms in the city after complaints of human waste in the streets. the group claims the city has enough money for more facilities, but the funds are going unused kron four's rob nesbitt reports. >> we have a humanitarian crises where we literally have thousands of people who are out on the streets who don't have access to basic sanitation. it's been several years since san francisco started providing pit stops, mobile restrooms that are staffed 24 7 and that executive director of the coalition on homelessness, jennifer freedom, buck says keep sidewalks clean while providing sanitation to the unhoused. these have been really critical in decreasing the amount of you know, a body waste that exists on san francisco sidewalks and unsanitary topic that came up last year during a debate between governor gavin newsom and florida governor ron desantis. well, this is an app where they plot the human feces that are found on the streets of san francisco to keep san francisco out of negative national headlines.

freedom buck is asking the city and mayor london breed to invest in more pit stops, saying funds are already available in the budget to add at least one more and that the bayview neighborhood is most in need. whenever they put a pit stop in an area, the number of cleanups have really declined. and so these work there's about there's available surprise, surprise. people use them according to mayor london breed's office hours are reduced at 3 pit stop locations saying, quote, and it's very challenging budget to preserve core city services. >> we worked with departments to analyze utilization and outcomes for a range of programs. in this case, we decided not to expand the program at this time in a just hours based on low usage rates. according to san francisco public works, there are 30 pit stop staffed and 13 neighborhoods reporting in san francisco. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> and renowned primatologist jane goodall plans to bring a youth program. the san francisco she spoke on a panel at the dreamforce convention last week about a movement she calls roots and shoots. the goal is to inspire children to

create positive change in their communities. and check this out. you can find this new artwork at san francisco a library in the civic center. the monument honors literary artists, civil rights activist and former san francisco resident doctor maya angelou. it features a quote from dr angelou saying in part the library helps you to see not only that, you are not alone, but that you're not really any different from anyone else. there may be details that are different, but a human being is a human being. and some parents, students and teachers say plans to close schools in san francisco. need to be paused. the negative impacts. they claim the closures could have on local families. plus a terrifying attack caught on camera free man with a machete ambush. someone in the south bay in our next half hour. what police say led up to this. but first, kron 4 is honoring hispanic heritage month after the break. meet the first latino u.s. poet

problem areas a little bit in san francisco. not not this. this is the morning, but i mean, later on today, it might want to try to come back again and again along the coast. we haven't completely clear that off of the afternoon. but >> it will improve and it will improve early next week, east bay shoreline. there you have the fog. it's very much ground fog this morning as we've been talking about the golden gate and all that around 60 ish lines at the east bay shoreline got 50's out east. meanwhile, up north mid to lower 50's. 59 san jose. 56 going on for san francisco. so again, to mention what's going on in future cast for here again, most of that, all goes away. but again, a little problem or a little bit in the city along the coast. so you know, there'll be still some fog left over in the afternoon. returning again for tonight. a little drizzle with that. and that's welcome. really fog doesn't get across the quirkiness straight in the delta like it did this morning into your monday and it clears away very nicely. but there's something else at work at this time. boy, heat spike on its way. and by monday, oh, and into tuesday as well. it's a late season one at that. now,

first day of fall, whatever sunny and hot inland. we'll see some 90's cooking today. build that up to a late season heats pike. here. and that's an old fashion emoji kids that we see is we have the oldest computers and could see 100 well inland in the few areas. monday is the most likely day. but then tuesday starts to wane a bit midweek. we get a break. we'll front we've been talking about. we'll have this for the long range forecast for you in a bit. and then later on into next weekend, we do warm up again, but we don't do this 100 degree business. it'll be more like lower 90's by that point. so again, today, but to be optimistic and called variable clouds mild at that. 71. 77 cooking for oakland early clouds and nice. 86. meanwhile for san jose, there you have it. and that's just a day. lower 90's going on in the far east bay up north, a mixture of 90's and 80's cool. 64 meanwhile, for half moon bay and 86 for san jose. but this is to bring it all out here for you. there you go. 99 monday into i want to put 100 on there, although it's possible. 99, again, on

monday and tuesday at 98. and that's a two-day spike. we go back again to some seasonality getting kind of close there and then warming up again next weekend and beyond that, which is not the good news on top of all that we might see in offshore wind spike in about 8 days or case being october. they got to watch that will carefully. would you say this is pretty typical for this time of year we do see that? but i mean, the problem is we get these fronts. >> we've been very good so far this year when we get these fronts. the problem is a very dry this time of year when you get the backside, which is what we back drive us some offshore winds. so that's what we got to watch. and they don't look really great in the long range forecast models can change. we'll see. >> okay. right. well, thanks for keeping an eye on for us. thanks, dave. all right. well, the berkeley public library is accepting applications for its youth poet laureate program. >> that program aims to elevate and amplify teen voices to poetry. participants get ha a chance to explore their civic voices and nurture their writing skills. laurean,

vice laureate, sir, for a calendar year and perform at library and city events. they'll also be eligible to represent berkeley in the national youth poet laureate competition. the requirements on the application are on your screen now. applications open until october. 3rd. it's hispanic heritage month. and today we meet the first latino u.s. poet laureate herrera is the son of california farmworkers. he went on become an award-winning poet and children's author. and now at the age of 75, he spends his day in central california. reporter anne gonzalez brings us his story. >> know i was in grant to have little words. that i had never really heard. yes, but to see bad enough when i spread amount of paragraph. so i could be right. >> and the story magnificent story. words like these took one felipe herrera from fowler, a small california labor community to the library

inside ended up being flower. in the east bay. a sushi restaurant in san leandro is accused of stealing over $43,000 from its employees. the u.s. department of labor says angry fish sushi violated multiple labor laws, including failing to pay overtime and mishandling employee tips. investigators say workers were paid a flat rate no matter how many hours they worked. the labor law violations involved. 24 employees. and developing this morning, san francisco unified students, parents and staff are calling for a pause on plans to close schools. the district which faces declining enrollment was expected to release the list of recommended closures this week but postponed that announcement until october. people gathered outside the district office last week saying school closures could create a big problem for families. >> of schools will need to just a court challenge is.

4 weekend morning news. disturbing video out of san jose shows a man attacked by 3 people armed with machetes. it no room in san jose and in our community for violent criminals such as these 3 adult male suspects. we're learning from police about this violent attack. plus, governor newsom signs a new bill aimed protecting teens on social media. why companies say that might be an overreach. and stanford university imposes new rules for protesters on campus with students are no longer allowed to do well expressing their free speech. >> 9, 7.30, now this morning. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. thanks so much for joining us. i'm stephanie lin. let's get you started this tower half hour with a look at the forecast. dave spahr course in the weather center tracking it all for a stay first day of fall is definitely morning. a good morning to you will not feel quite like that way in the forecast both today.

>> tomorrow and even into tuesday, there will get a little bit of relief come the middle of the week, but actually can to towards the end of the week, too. so all this week long we're not feel may be totally autumnal like it did from a previous weeks. here's the first things. first, let's check things out. the fog peeling away very nicely at san jose state really shows you how quickly this is going away. at least inland now letting some sunny out this morning. meanwhile, got a lot of work to do here at sfo about a half-hour delay cooking on all of this that you see there, some ground fog, even the kind obscuring some of the view we can say. so back to that fog, as you see, goes away, probably for san francisco. you'll get a nice clear patch going on in the afternoon. so, you know, say around the lunch hour to mid-afternoon, looking good with the fog rolling on in late in the afternoon early evening. could be more problematic at the coast. of course, 50's and 60's mixture at this hour. and we're pretty close to where those numbers were from this time yesterday. 76 by 11 o'clock by 2 were doing 88. and it's a building forecast. we may even see potentially 100 as we hold

this conversation. there is no heat advisories. however, some may start to pop this afternoon and this evening, stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. and we are on top of breaking news. 4 people dead, 18 more hurt from a mass shooting in birmingham, alabama. this happened at a popular nightclub on the city's south side around 11 o'clock last night. when officers got to the scene, they found 2 men and one woman on a sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. now those victims were all pronounced dead at the scene. another man with a gunshot wound was pronounced dead at the hospital. investigators say multiple people fired shots into a crowd. police are still searching for any suspects this morning and we'll continue to follow this and bring you any new developments as they come into our newsroom. also this morning, 3 men are behind bars for attacking someone with a machete as kron four's terisa stasio reports that attack was caught on camera and we do want to warn you that this next video we're about to show you is disturbing.

>> it was a gram and gory assault. all captured on surveillance video. this graphic crime unfolded in east saint is a on june 27th around 10:00pm at a parking lot on alum rock avenue just east of 6.80. you can see the suspects. police say all armed with machetes lifting the blades, then striking the victim. >> and they all had machetes and they violently attacked the victim. when our officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab that scent is a police spokesperson. stacey, she see in the graphic video. he wasn't just being, you know, punch with fans. he was being kicked, but he was also being slashed. machetes. >> she says now months later, a major development, 3 people arrested. juan ramirez, eddie, her arena and roll laureano. >> that whatever suspec suspects rain is actually homicide suspect from a 2005 homicide here in san jose.

suspect reyna was also arrested and convicted for the homicide. our detectives center officers who responded to to the scene didn't outstanding job of taking over this investigation, making sure that these dangerous suspects are behind bars. we have no room in san jose and in our community for violent criminals, such as these 3 adult male suspects. >> she says the motive behind this morbid and shocking attack is unclear. they do know the victim didn't know the men that the assault came about 5 hours after they first met with the victim. >> altercation that took place earlier today was somewhat close to the vicinity. also in the san jose. i'm not sure about what they're fighting for our fighting about, but that's all part of investigation. as we determine the modus, the circumstances, the 3 machetes that were used. i'm not sure if all 3 were located but we're able to have at lunchtime to all 3 did have the weapons used for the attack. >> as for the victim who is not being identified it. so i can't speak to the injuries in terms of the nature and the

damage it causes, whether it makes by threatening or threatening. we're just lucky and fortunate that this victim did survive the attack theresa stuff, co kron, 4 news. >> livermore man serving life in prison was found dead in his jail cell on thursday. >> authorities say jacob kober had been attacked with what's being described as an improvised weapon. it was also injured but is expected to survive. kober had been serving time for a 2012 shooting death. and a person is recovering in the hospital this morning after getting shot in san francisco. it happened on mission and why street around 10 o'clock friday night citizen app video shows police activity in the area. the victim was seriously injured. no details on the shooter released yet. and 2 people are behind bars in philly home this morning after police say they were found with meth and a ghost gun officers arrested the suspects thursday. i hope police say one of the men is a convicted felon with 2 outstanding warrants. and police arrested.

a 61 year-old man accused of 7 started several fires neary santa rosa elementary school. police say james can 40's started a series of fires last week at southwest community park on herndon avenue. that's just a block away from meadow view elementary school officers say the fires were started in various areas of the park. 40 is accused of setting a 4th fire on friday. some school property was damaged, but thankfully, no buildings 40 was booked into jail on arson charges. >> and both former president donald trump and vice president kamala harris hit the campaign trail this weekend. >> harris making stops in georgia and wisconsin talking about reproductive rights reporter linda shiraz. he has the story. >> this is a health care crisis and donald trump is the architect of this crisis. he brags about overturning roe v wade. he is proud. that women are dying.

sphar he good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. welcome to fall. very although going to feel more like summer looks like over the next couple of days dealing with our morning traditional fog and all. >> its ground fog, too pretty aggressive across the bay. but that'll peel open and we'll see mostly sunny skies for a good chunk of the bay problem. areas that remain at the coast and return a little bit the city pretty much this afternoon. first things first. well, it's gone. this was san jose state will just move right on here. and there's the golden gate bridge you can see covered up the 2 towers to show you. it's still kind of ground fog at this hour. that's again, expected to really lift and give the overcast skies late this morning. so here's the progress you can see along the coast are still some problem areas and that fog or returned by mid-afternoon, it looks like to do its thing and dance for tonight as well. most the temperatures right now in the 50's and we're scratching some lower 60's in places like antioch. we got 60 hayward and palo alto and san jose both checking in at 60, pretty close to where we were this time from yesterday. give or take a degree on either end. so we're on track for that.

but getting warmer inland this afternoon, 82 expected by high noon to 3 o'clock. 91. there were to build on that into monday into tuesday. so we'll take a look at that hot forecast coming up in a bit. 70. >> all right, dave, thank you. we're on top of breaking news this morning. take a look at this video we got overnight. shows heavy emergency response present on the bay bridge. one of our morning producers recorded this on his way to the station around 02:30am. and you can see from this video there, police cars, fire trucks and an ambulance responding to the scene. now, a producer also saw a badly damaged vehicle and paramedics there as well. the california department of transportation says you should expect delays on the bridge this morning related to whatever happened at the scene here we are asking chp how many cars were involved in this incident if anyone was hurt, if anyone faces charges. so a lot of unanswered questions there. we are working to get answers for you and we'll keep you updated on this story on air and on our website. kron 4 dot com.

right now, the santa clara county sheriff's office is searching for the person who shot and killed a vta worker. it happened friday night at the boys division. lot off south 7th street. not far from downtown san jose. was jack molmud walks us through the investigation. >> i'm so sorry about this terrible incident. a vta employee. it was shot and killed on friday night and for county supervisor cindy chavez. it's still raw feeling 3 years after 9 employees were shot and killed by a disgruntled employee. >> at a nearby bet a lot. you know, for so many people, this is reliving up another horrible set of incidents. we don't know much about the employee killed on friday, but we do know is they worked at the sheboygan division lot off 7th street just south of downtown. and this killing has vta leadership stepping up enforcement. people have extra security at all of our yards over the weekend. some law enforcement says there is no ongoing threat to the public or to any vta employees. they

francisco saturday. the building is on 6th street just a block away from market street. firefighters say discarded smoking material caused this fire. thankfully no one was hurt or displaced. in the east bay. oakland is getting more automated license plate readers installed kron four's gayle ong takes a look at how the cameras have been helping the community so far. >> we're gonna have another 26 installed by the end of this week and actually might have been installed just today. oakland police chief floyd mitchell is talking about these flock security cameras that have been installed across the city on thursday. the department shared arrests have been made on several violent crimes this month by gathering video surveillance that identified suspect vehicles. we saw shooting from september 12th of this year. >> a suspect shot at 85. 0, 1, international boulevard. the vehicle was stopped 2 days later the suspect was arrested who ultimately confessed to the shooting. a firearm was also recovered. >> opd at the cameras helped id suspect vehicles in a

robbery in road rage incident. the locations of where the cameras are placed are in oakland's hot spots identified by opd. it also helps of other bay area cities have the same system. if we know the suspect vehicle, we put that into. >> flock and outside agencies that have access to flock will be alerted if it goes into their city. >> oakland privacy advisory commission approved to have the cameras installed last year. opd will hold on to the footage for only 30 days to investigate crimes. the technology will not capture people's faces. a concern of civil liberties groups. the city's goal is to have about 300 flock cameras installed by the end of october or early november. and if you decide that you're going to commit a crime in the city of oakland, you may mean maybe today you may not be cut tomorrow. >> normally you may be will be caught this week. but just know that we have the data that is needed now to ensure that we apprehend those who are causing havoc in our

camera. and we do want to warn you this next video we're about to play may be disturbing for some to watch. >> it was a gram and gory assault all captured on surveillance video. this graphic crime unfolded in east saint is a on june 27th around 10:00pm at a parking lot on alum rock avenue just east of 6.80. you can see the suspects. police say all armed with machetes lifting the blades, then striking the victim. >> and they all have machetes and they violently attacked the victim. when our officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab that scent is a police spokesperson, stacey shape. see in the graphic video, he wasn't just being, you know, punch with fans. he was being kicked, but he was also being slashed. machetes. >> she says now months later, a major development, 3 people arrested. juan ramirez, eddie, her arena and roll laureano.

weekend as well. first things first. is this fog. it is stubborn tenacious, if you will, does not want to lift course of half moon bay. that's one of the places going to kind of hang out, although you might get some afternoon clearing briefly going on. here's the golden gate bridge. it's still kind of the ground level just started to lift. but the towers all covered up as you will see delays, by the way to about a half hour or so going forward with this period yet does clear out a place like san francisco get the sun going on here for a few hours. but late in the afternoon the evening boom and comes back again. as you can see already by 4 and 5 o'clock temperature check for you starting to see some movement in la. now, as you can see, we have a 66 antioch. we have 59 livermore up north, a mid to lower 50's east bay shoreline already about 60 ish at this hour. and that compares fairly closely to the south what we had yesterday, although trailing a little bit along the east bay shoreline. little bit of that fog at work here. but we'll catch up this afternoon. looking at 85 by 1 o'clock at 4.91. yeah, we're going to be building on that. and that's a

through the investigation. >> i'm so sorry about this terrible incident. a vta employee. it was shot and killed on friday night and for county supervisor cindy chavez. it's still raw feeling 3 years after 9 employees were shot and killed by a disgruntled employee. >> at a nearby bet a lot. you know, for so many people, this is reliving another horrible set of incidents. we don't know much about the employee killed on friday, but we do know is they worked at the sheboygan division lot off 7th street just south of downtown. and this killing has dta leadership stepping up enforcement. people have extra security at all of our yards over the weekend. some law enforcement says there is no ongoing threat to the public or to any vta employees. they call this an isolated incident. but still at the same time, many business owners we spoke with. >> here in the neighborhood just south of downtown say they have not felt safe here for years. >> is. i would lock. we'll

getting bad. and so the vta has not released any details related to the identity of that employee. >> who was killed on friday night. but again, this is very much still active investigation. so if you have any information related to this case, you're expected contact law enforcement reported here in san jose jackie but kron 4 news. >> police are looking for suspects in a deadly antioch shooting. and 18 year-old man was killed near karbala road and sunset drive friday afternoon. he died at the hospital. police believe the gunman drove away in a blue gmc sierra pickup truck with a to a rock and black rims. investigators are hoping for leads from the public. and take a look at this video from this is an app. neighbors forced to evacuate from an apartment fire complex in san francisco saturday. the building is on 6th street just a block away from market street. firefighters say discarded smoking material caused the fire. thankfully no one was hurt or displaced. the east bay. oakland is getting more automated license plate

readers installed kron four's gayle ong takes a look at how the cameras have been helping the community so far. >> we're gonna have another 26 installed by the end of this week and actually might have been installed just today. oakland police chief floyd mitchell is talking about these flock security cameras that have been installed across the city on thursday. the department shared arrests have been made on several violent crimes this month by gathering video surveillance that identified suspect vehicles. we saw shooting from september 12th of this year. >> a suspect shot at 85. 0, 1, international boulevard. the vehicle was stopped 2 days later a suspect was arrested who ultimately confessed to the shooting. a firearm was also recovered. opd at the cameras helped id suspect vehicles in a robbery in road rage incident. >> the locations of where the cameras are placed are in oakland's hot spots identified by opd. it also helps of other bay area cities have the same system. if we know the suspect vehicle, we put that into.

>> flock and outside agencies that have access to flock will be alerted if it goes into their city. >> oakland privacy advisory commission approved to have the cameras installed last year. opd will hold on to the footage for only 30 days to investigate crimes. the technology will not capture people's faces. a concern of civil liberties groups. the city's goal is to have about 300 flock cameras installed by the end of october or early november. and if you decide that you're going to commit a crime in the city of oakland, you may maybe not caught today. you may not be cut tomorrow. >> normally you maybe won't be caught this week. but just know that we have the data that is needed now to ensure that we apprehend those who are causing havoc in our communities. reporting in oakland, gayle ong kron, 4 news. >> happening now, caltrans closed a section of i-680, for the weekend. crews installed new pavement on i-680, southbound between alcosta boulevard in san ramon and the i-five 86 80 connector in

pleasanton. the closure is set to last until for monday morning. more details and detours can be found on kron 4 dot com. and homeless advocates in san francisco are asking for more public restrooms in the city after complaints of human waste in the street. the group claims the city has enough money for more facilities, but the funds are not being used. kron four's rob nesbitt explains. >> we have a humanitarian crises where we literally have thousands of people who are out on the streets who don't have access to basic sanitation. it's been several years since san francisco started providing pit stops, mobile restrooms that are staffed 24 7 and that executive director of the coalition on homelessness, jennifer freedom, buck says keep sidewalks clean while providing sanitation to the unhoused. these have been really critical in decreasing the amount of you know, a body waste that exists on san francisco sidewalks and unsanitary topic that came up last year during a debate between governor gavin newsom and florida governor ron desantis. well, this is an app

little spooky out there i yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and it's overcast as what we're dealing with the in san francisco right now. >> you'll get a break as we get, you know, to around noon in for a few hours. but that's going to come back again, particularly towards a lot of the residential areas to the west near the ocean. and it'll come creeping on back even before sunset. so the fog is going to only depart here for a few hours during the day, half moon bay, this another stubborn area really even looks like a little bit into tomorrow, too, that in the morning hours, particularly this will be with us. but afternoon heating, it looks like we'll get some 70's going on up the coast from monday into tuesday. little flavor of of of summer again, there's our marine layer again. you can see harvey budge from this vantage point. again, blue skies aloft that waits us and that are already being felt in. lynn, look at that. 66 antioch, 59 livermore, east bay shoreline, about 60 ish 50's mostly up north futurecast for just kind of monitoring the fog from our behalf. but with daytime

heating, we do see a little flaring going up in the mountains. that's something we tend to see more in the summer months here. and the fog floods us again a little bit overnight, although not as aggressive we've seen before and breaks up for the coast. it looks like to allow some of those temperatures to warm. so looking ahead here, the first day of fall is what we're being told, sunny and hot inland as the 90's revisit us. late season heats by coming our way here we could see 100 well inland potentially monday or tuesday. no heat statements as we speak, but some may pop a little bit later on. and then mid to late week. we do have a break. we'll call it is temperatures retreat back to the 80's onlp to return to the 90's next weekend. and a step beyond that looks like early into the following week. we may be looking at a major, offshore wind event at the elements all set up the right way, by the way, is about a half hour delay at sfo. just want to kind of monitor the moisture levels with all of obviously getting old right inland. there's your marine layer coming back by 6 o'clock. you can see quite moist along the coast. so we don't have the real big drying effect. but as we get to

tomorrow morning, yeah, it comes back but not as aggressive. a lot of times it will flood here all the east bay shoreline with the greens. you can tell. well, not quite so much as we get into monday. this is more kind of the dry summer pattern drying out nicely inland. of course, that's relative humidity, which is tied at the hip of temperatures. when you talk about humidity, those numbers and percentages are relative to the temperature. we always like to sometimes look at dew points to give us a real accurate measure. there. as you by tuesday morning, the return of the morning fog. but these numbers aren't really that impressive inland only in the 60's. even up north, too well below the 80's up there. so up for today, we're talking 71 going on san francisco, the fairest way to phrase it is variable clouds noting that break happening in the afternoon. but the fog is a little late to clear in its or early to return a bit. but mild 71, 77, one on for oakland, early clouds, a nice 86 san jose. and there's your warming happening well inland with lower 90's up there and up north, by the way, 80's 90's still chilly at the coast with half moon bay at 64 next

eager students coming back to school, specifically our college campuses and maybe the first time they're away from home. so providing safety tips to our campuses are college students is instrumental ensuring a safer community. got it. and what is the type of guidance that you're offering to the schools and the students in the area? you speak to the students and the students speak to the staff, asked them if the housing that they're going into is going to be suitable for all their new technology. if the electric components of that building are going to be able to handle their new computers and all the technical items that we now have that need to be plugged in. it also gets cold in san francisco. so space heaters is a big item in san francisco. so teaching the students to unplug those. you know, when they're not being used, don't use them if they're not in the room, make sure the 3 feet away from anything combustible. and a lot more information that you can find on our social media

jack-o-lanterns to people like to put a candle inside the pumpkin, how often should they be checking in on something like that? you know, i'm guilty of this myself. i like to have that traditional candle inside there that we really recommend having the battery operated. if you're not going to use the battery operated always be present when you're actually burning that traditional can win that jacket letter and got it. and of course, thinking of probably a little bit early to be thinking about this. but when i think holidays, i think of those christmas lights, i mean, people are going to have similar setups. i think for halloween to some orange and black kind of spooky lights out there. >> any guidance around those type of decorations. so we are seeing a lot more homes being decorated just like we see during the christmas holidays. in san francisco and abroad. so if you're putting decorative lights up, follow the recommendation of the manufacturer. so if you go to a store and you're looking at lights, look at the recommendations. how many strains can you plug into a single outlet? should i plug them into a power strip? we recommend that you don't. we

recommend that are always goes into a single outlet and then always make sure that yout president, will you how those lives, even though the are powered some of the older lights get really hot and they can actually cause a fire. the led lights were not seeing as many issues with those. but you should also practice the same is keep those away from anything those combustible, make sure that your home or using captain baxter well we know that with the fall we can. and just with the colder months in general, we can see some more severe weather. so what are firefighters keeping an eye out for what you want the public to be aware of? >> well, today is going to be an anomaly because it looks like we have a very warm day. so four-day, we're really pushing hydrates. >> layers of clothing. san francisco might be warm today. it's going to get cold in the evening. so if you're coming to visit, make sure that you're bringing those layers of clothing where some protection fire departments always going to be looking for a number of factors associated to storm. so if we have wind, we want to make sure that we have a sufficient amount of

resources to respond to trees down to wires down, but also informing the public what to do if you see a tree or wire down. and again, we have all that information on our social media sites for you. >> fantastic. a last quick question here for you. if somebody does find themselves in a dangerous situation, maybe a house fire or an apartment fire, what is the best practice first and foremost and get out? we recommend the minute or the second you realize that you have an emergency. >> get out of the house. you can start yelling for other people to get out of the house. once you get outside immediately, call 9-1-1, so that your first responders can get on scene. if somebody is left in the house in san francisco and other districts in the nation, your fire departments respond quickly and we rely on you to be our eyes and ears to direct us to where that person is so that we can successfully rescue them. unfortunately, all too many times throughout this nation, we re respond and

>> as we look for temperatures to race up into the 90's and where to revisit that monday and into tuesday, perhaps even getting up to near 100 or so as summer makes a little bit of a comeback. first things first that we can talk about the fog this morning. it's and all the usual places at the coast. pretty socked in here at half moon bay, overcast, even though spooky looking. but if you look carefully, you can see there's some pairing open here of the skies just a little bit there. meanwhile, sfo delays are only a half hour, but it looks pretty socked in there again dealing with this morning fog situation. so with all of that, it's cleared out through most of the rest of the bay for the most part the ground fog. part of it. and we should see the skies open up in san francisco as we approach around noon get a few hours of some sunshine before the late afternoon. it starts to trail on and again about 4 or 5 o'clock. so typical per session with this, although the part of the the performance tomorrow morning does not appear to be as impressive, though. and wolf, that's all in tandem with the warming trend. we look at about 60 right now to the east bay shoreline, a 69 for antioch, up north 50's and

place. 55 chilly degrees. half moon bay. no surprise there with overcast skies. 62 san jose. so let's go about 85 at 1 o'clock and 4 at 91 as we revisit those 90's going to be hot next couple of days. some relief for midweek, but way upstream. however, looks like we might be having some offshore winds. let's talk more about your extended forecast to the bit. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. on top of breaking news this morning, 4 people are dead and 18 more heard from a mass shooting in birmingham, alabama. this happened at a popular nightclub on the city's south side around 11 o'clock last night. officers got to the scene, they found 2 men and one woman on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds. they were all pronounced dead at the scene. another man with a gunshot wound was pronounced dead at the hospital. investigators say multiple people fired shots into a crowd. police are still searching for suspects this morning. also this morning, 3 men are behind bars for attacking someone with a machete as kron four's terisa stasio reports that attack was

caught on camera and we do want to warn you this next video may be disturbing to watch. >> it was a gram and gory assault all captured on surveillance video. this graphic crime unfolded in east saint is a on june 27th around 10:00pm at a parking lot on alum rock avenue just east of 6.80. you can see the suspects. police say all armed with machetes lifting the blades, then striking the victim. >> and they all had machetes and they violently attacked the victim. when our officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab that scent is a police spokesperson, stacey, she see in the graphic video. he wasn't just being, you know, punch with fans. he was being kicked, but he was also being machetes. >> she says now months later, a major development, 3 people arrested. juan ramirez, eddie, her arena and roll laureano. >> that whatever suspec suspects rain is actually

homicide suspect from a 2005 homicide here in san jose. suspect reyna was also arrested and convicted for the homicide. our detectives center officers who responded to to the scene didn't outstanding job of taking over this investigation, making sure that these dangerous suspects are behind bars. we have no room in san jose and in our community for violent criminals, such as these 3 adult male suspects. >> she says the motive behind this morbid and shocking attack is unclear. they do know the victim didn't know the men that the assault came about 5 hours after they first met with the victim. >> altercation that took place earlier today was somewhat close to the vicinity. also in the san jose. i'm not sure about what they're fighting for our fighting about, but that's all part of investigation as we determine the motive circumstances, the 3 machetes that were used. i'm not sure if all 3 were located but we're able to have at lunchtime to all 3 did have the weapons used for the attack.

>> in the east bay, police arrested a man accused of using a doggy door to break into a family's home. fairfield. police say they got a call from a neighbor who saw the break-in on their security camera when police got to the home of flamingo drive, they saw furniture on the porch. police set up a perimeter around the house and were able to detain and arrest the suspect. police identified him as james jackson. he was ed to a separate burglary and booked into the solano county jail.
