weekend, kind of goldilocks a little bit. we do have some fog that's around. you can see the sun, san francisco and in spots. we may see it kind of remain. it looks like it's trying to clear out pretty quickly. but they'll be pockets of issues, particularly near the coast. this is, of course, the golden gate. and you can see that ground fog quite busy. and the zipper truck just getting started opening up those lanes. all right. back the fog. you can see a peel away throughout the morning hours through a lot of the east bay and everything but their kids to look up a little stickers here. you can see up in the north bay a little bit and along the peninsula at the coast around half moon bay. and that's pretty late about 3 o'clock in the afternoon. so at the coast, it's a different story than it will be in in the tale of 2 different locations. most of the readings are in the 50's. we have some chilly 40's up north. got some 60's. when you head over to antioch at this hour. 63 san jose, a little warmer to the south and east. then we see a little pocket up northwards. little cooler. so for today, this is what you can expect. well, in the 80's, it looks like this afternoon, even topping off to about 90 or so a pullback, a degree or

so with better clearing tomorrow, looks like as well. you get some beach time in here before the heat gets turned on to have more about that coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> our top story this morning for braunfels busted in the bay area in just under a month in the latest san jose case, 2 women now face human trafficking charges. kron four's jack moment has reaction from nearby neighbors. >> san jose police say it took them months to investigate this specific brought east side. san jose and when they were able to make an arrest, they were also able to find and rescue to human trafficking victims. but the city council member who represents that district, peter ortiz tells me he's afraid that the human trafficking suspects are preying upon latino and asian immigrants in that community. >> for months right off of what he said. san jose's busiest intersections. a brothel was running in plain view. i live. >> in the apartments next to where this brothel was discovered. city council

member for district 5 peter ortiz says this recent bust comes as a shock. these are people's daughters. these are people's family members. san jose police say they found 2 victims of human trafficking at this apartment after a months long investigation. the apartment is now boarded up the ring camera broken on the floor. >> that's very shannon nelson lives in the same apartment complex and said >> while the months were going on with this brothel functioning, she had no idea. yeah, it would have been nice to know. >> from the office then informed of what was going on. police say this is the 4th brothel bust in san jose just this month. 3 of them were in the same neighborhood. these investigations go back months with officers going undercover as clients. police records show text messages exchanged between investigators and people accused of running the brothels. they include photos of the victims sent to the detectives and offer its like

$120 for 30 minutes or $160 for an hour. police say they were then sent the address to where these brothels were allegedly happening, which led to the arrests were working with the san jose police department as well as the county and their human trafficking task force to make sure >> that we can identify instances of this throughout our neighborhood tell some of ortiz says human traffickers prey on latino and asian immigrants in east side. san jose, they may not speak english fluently and and so they less likely raise those concerns. human trafficking is a crime that is horrendous. you know it. it preys on are in innocent and most vulnerable populations. and and we're not going to stand for that. in a city council member, ortiz says that he's looking forward to eventually cracking down on will drop those throughout east side, san jose. but he may not have to wait that long as of this week. governor gavin newsom signed off on several bills which will now be laws. >> which will make it better protections for human trafficking victims and also make it easier to prosecute human trafficking suspects reported here in san jose

jacmel. but kron 4 news. >> all right. 705, this morning. taking a live look outside now at the transamerica pyramid where parts of a window their shattered on friday sending glass spilling down onto the sidewalk and the street below. let's take a look at the damage there. well, the property owner, they say a part of the window on the pyramid was damaged during a routine cleaning. thankfully, no one was hurt, they say. and a team responded quickly to clean the glass off the street. inspectors say the building is now safe. earlier this month, you may recall glass fell from the sales force east tower that also cracked 2 ground floor windows all the way down. crews were installing that class when it fell from the top of the 30 storey skyscraper on mission street. thankfully, no one was hurt in this incident, either. and if you are just waking up with us, take a look at this mess left behind after a car smashed through the front of a san jose laundromat. san jose

police say that this happened friday morning at the wash and dry on tully and king roads. you can see class just shattered across the business entrance plus of damage washing machines there. we're told that the driver of the car was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. thankfully no one inside that building was hurt. and we're asking if the driver involved faces any charges at this time. and developing in the east bay, too. alarming attacks in a matter of hours. on friday afternoon, the oakland police department shared new details about a possible stabbing after friday's finals a's game at the coliseum and a deadly shooting. a couple hours later, shooting happened just before 6 on wilson avenue just north of 5.80, near fruitvale elementary school officers arrived and found victim dead. police say the shooter or shooters appeared to target a group of people standing nearby. but police do not know who the intended target might have been yet. we'll update you as soon as we get more details. and oakland police

ppare also investigating a stabbing, they say possibly happened at the coliseum after the final a's home game. officers say a person who attended the game and had been drinking got back to his house in contra costa county. and that's when realized he was bleeding and might have been stabbed. the man went to the hospital where he told police he thought it might have happened at the coliseum. police are now investigating. staying in the east bay. now that the a's have played their final game in oakland, many are asking what happens to the coliseum coliseum with phil court playing here. >> what all goes well in the years ahead, this entire site will get a makeover and professional sports will return starting next year. in an emotional and rousing display a's fans said goodbye to their team during thursday's final home game at the coliseum. >> but the cheers have faded away. the a's are moving on. the coliseum now sits quiet, but definitely not forgotten.

in recent months. the oakland based african american sports and entertainment group or a a s a g has reached deals with the city of oakland, alameda county and the a's to take over sole ownership of the property, which includes the nearby oakland arena. they are now working with a developer to re. imagine the future of this historic location. >> i'm really excited about the new chapter of the site. ray bobbitt is the entertainment group's president. he says they are looking at possibly dividing the coliseum into 20 different development pads that could be used for housing, open space and retail. and while a final plan is probably still a few years away, he says the public will be part of the process. the opportunities for what we can build there. our are extremely open and the community is going to have a lot of input in the east bay regions going to have a lot of input into that. but it also says that in all versions of future redevelopment, there will be sports. he says the coal seams immediate access to several forms of public transportation and the fact that the site is already set up for professional sports makes this location very attractive, starting next

year. the oakland roots men's soccer team will play home games here, says they're talking to other leagues as well to hopefully bring back those cheering crowds. we you know, excited about all aspects of this of this development. but major league sports will be back in oakland says it's not beyond the realm of possibility that one day a major league baseball team or an nfl team. >> could return here to the oakland coliseum. but for now in the east bay, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> happening today and tomorrow, treasure fest returns. the seasonal festival highlights local eateries musicians, vintage collectors and artists this weekend is halloween-themed. so wear your best costumes or buy one. there. it will be halloween themed cocktails, beers, magicians, even a spooky petting zoo. it runs from 11 to 5 both today and tomorrow.

caution and patience. >> the end of the rain is not the end of the threat. >> we can't stop the waves can't stop the rushing water can stop the rumors and certainly can't stop trees from being uprooted. >> president joe biden says 1500 federal emergency crews have been deployed to help in the storm's aftermath. in addition, california sending 150 firefighters and support personnel. all right. let's have on that note. let's go ahead and make another check of the weather this morning with dave spahr. dave, just a really tough situation for folks out there. >> yeah. and here we are kind of in the peak of hurricane season. actually, we're now starting to wane. a good morning, stephanie. good morning. all this is what we have that is known as extra tropical. it basically now is this point a mid-latitude cyclone that dses what they tend to do. they're tapping into some moisture around them. gulf of mexico, still plenty warm and along the gulf stream. so that's added to the continuation of rain. what do

we have left over? actually from the severe prediction center, not much the way of afternoon thunder showers firing up. so basically it's just rain and heavy at times taking the lion's share of kentucky. now, indiana, a little bit of southwest ohio and through the mountains of west virginia, where you see these dark greens here. this is flash flood warnings that have been posted already. but again, kind of little bit on the sparse. i compared to what we would expect with a tropical system there. so it's just rain and heavy rain throughout the entire day. the next thing is to get this thing up and out usual happens. they get picked up by the westerly sun will get sent back out to sea back in the home front there. san francisco opening up nicely from this shot here. the whole city doesn't look like it will be that way. looks like to follow us to fill back in again later on today. here it is a law firm mount tam picture. and there you see some of the buildings poking on above. the cloud tops are above the fog, if you will. still ground fog is a problem in a couple of pockets right now. 60 ish along the east bay shoreline. we got 63, antioch, upper 50's far east up north.

still some 40's there. chilly. 54 going on for half moon bay, futurecast for this. what we're talking about little stubborn areas here along the peninsula. you can see already this afternoon, even san francisco potentially and maybe even oakland, some scattered clouds leftover tonight. it comes back again. but clears out pretty quickly by noon. you can see pretty much all peeled away. so that's the takeaway tomorrow if you have problem areas today like the coast, parts temperatures go going to clear out a lot quicker. looks like by tomorrow afternoon. all right. sfo looking good. no delays happening there. coastal fog very warm, though, still inland. we're talking 70's for the bay, 90 ish or so inland. however, tomorrow actually improving on some of those numbers may be dipping back down to the upper 80's here for a time and quicker clearing out of that fog to next week. different story. very hot and the 2 days to look out for it looks like although money is going to be plenty hot, too. but tuesday and wednesday, if this all comes together, we're going to be hearing about heat advisories, maybe an excessive heat warnings, but certainly heat advisories will be coming

the east bay. 68 san francisco with some variable clouds still working here. 73 open. 83 for san jose. there is in the big board, some lower 90's in the far east bay direction can approve a little bit tomorrow. lot of 80's up north 62, half moon bay checking about half moon bay next couple of days. there you for 90's. by monday, we're still building hot one. looks like for tuesday and wednesday. looks like we will have a big issue with some popping off shore winds, at least for the bay area. we're just going to bake, ok, that'll be the thing okay. so the only show and thanks a lot. >> developing this morning, we now know the name of 2 people shot and killed outside a home in napa. police say it happened shortly before 10:00am thursday on lincoln avenue about a mile away from napa high school officers found georgina padilla and ralph and dino 3rd dead with gunshot wounds. about 4 hours later, police say they tracked down the suspect who shot himself after leading officers on a chase and then a

standoff. the suspect identified as baltasar juarez. he was taken into custody and is now recovering at the hospital. the ftc reached a multi-million dollar agreement with the country's largest owner of single-family homes. our washington correspondent maddie beer-temple explains. >> the federal trade commission says a 48 million dollar settlement should put an end to what it calls predatory tactics by the nation's largest landlord of single-family homes. the ftc says invitation homes was charging hidden fees and withholding security deposits, not even. >> maintaining livable conditions at various points. ftc chair lina khan says this was a deliberate strategy to really create revenue or even though it was coming at the expense of on us renters invitation. homes says the agreement contains no admission of wrongdoing. it says the settlement, quote, puts this matter behind the company. >> and they will move forward to better serve its customers.

it's a win for families. but let's be clear. these abuses are symptoms of a much larger problem. oregon democratic senator jeff merkley says corporate investors are invading the housing market. >> a forecast by metlife investment management found institutional investors could control 40% of single-family rental homes by 2030. >> they're driving up the price to buy a home, but he has stake through the heart of the dream of homeownership merkley is sponsoring a bill he says would stop that it would ban hedge funds from buying single family homes. >> and make them sell the homes they do own. these are common sense. guardrails berkeley's bill has stalled since he introduced it last year, but he says he's encouraged by the ftc's actions in washington. maddie beer-temple. >> in the east bay, a man turned himself in for shooting and killing another man in fremont. the shooting happened thursday evening on grimmer boulevard just off of fremont boulevard. police say the shooter turned himself in

friday morning. no word yet on what led up to the shooting will update you on this story. as soon as we learn more. a woman in the north they died after chp says she was hit by multiple cars. this happened early friday morning on highway 101 and cotati officers say before the collision they saw the woman walking on the shoulder of the southbound lanes. chp says when they tried to approach her, she ran across the freeway into the northbound lanes where she was hit by traffic. investigators say they're looking into whether the woman was under the influence. and take a look at this. a car flipped onto its roof friday evening in oakland. chp says this crash happened on westbound. i-580, east of lakeshore avenue, all 4 west bound lanes were temporarily shut down. they were reopened a few hours later. we're asking if anyone was hurt. and developing news out of san francisco, a man has been convicted of breaking into and vandalizing a san francisco synagogue. district attorney brooke jenkins says

that. could, but he way shows how things have opened up pretty nicely. >> already in the south bay, you see bay area phenomena usually in terms of this fog. but it does look like it's going to be very stubborn for san francisco and along the coast, even though we're starting to see some opening right now as we speak, there's sfo for you. no delays happening. so that's good on that front. back to the fog business. you'll see what i'm talking about. even most of the areas cleared out. but even as late as 11 this morning, still some problem areas and it kind of remains that way along the coast. just about all day. so variable clouds best will call it 50's and 60's mixtures. we've got 40's up north. 55 for half moon bay for today. we'll try about somebody. 7.11, o'clock at to about 86, maybe scratch 90 or so for a high. but then we're going to slip back again as it looks like for the remainder of the weekend for those high temperatures inland, lower 90's, as i mentioned, but some 80's and 90's up north again looks pretty good for your tomorrow. but then another heat spike around the bed. we'll get more

that coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. developing this morning, a high schooler is recovering after being stabbed in south san francisco. >> kron four's lezla gooden reports with the latest. >> we got here just as school was letting out. and i did see police out here as well. and the students i spoke with say it was very scary to be so close near the stabbing. this is what we know so far. police received reports of a possible stabbing at south san francisco high school upon investigating. they found that a fight took place between a 14 year-old and a 16 year-old the freshman who is a suspect is believed to have stabbed the 6 year-old the 14 year old has since been arrested for attempted murder. some soon as i spoke with, say fights to happen here. but nothing like this mentally. it's killing me right now not know whether the kid is ok or not mentally. yeah, i'd say really >> my heart right but sent prayers out to the family and

the school did not go on a full lockdown, but they did restrict access. >> and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. and once we get more information, we will update you. let's get kron. 4 news. all right. thank you. let's look for your reporting now in the north bay fairfield, police are investigating another school scare after reports. >> of a student possibly bringing a gun to campus. investigators say a 12 year-old boy at golden west middle school told a friend his plans to bring a weapon to school to protect himself from another student. school officials reported this to officers thursday afternoon. the boy was identified and police searched his home in vacaville where they found a replica gun. investigators say they have no reason to believe that fake gun was ever on campus. a person is behind bars after police say he made threats to carry a mass shooting. police say the suspect started making threats at a workplace in south san francisco last week. on friday, detectives carried out a search warrant at the

suspect's home in richmond where they found ammunition. the suspect was booked into jail on several charges, including violations of criminal threats. across 4 is your local election headquarters. we are officially less than 40 days until election day and california republican party leaders say they are not wasting any time. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace spoke one-on-one with the party chair about new efforts to reach voters. >> knocking on doors and making phone calls and turning out the vote. that's exactly what california republican party chair jessica millan patterson says the state gop has been doing and we'll continue to do to reach voters. now less than 40 days until election day in just a week and a half until ballots go out in the mail to every registered voter in the state. >> the republican party, it's here and we're here to help. it's a message she hopes resonates with every voter, but especially with specific demographics of voters. >> who historically have largely not registered with the republican party, including many in the latino

community, work that we've done had a son who is the first latina to ever lead the california republican party says the state gop has increased efforts to reach latino voters among those efforts. this very event, a virtual roundtable discussion featuring latino gop leaders and candidates running for local and federal offices, some of whom speak both english and see it was fun. you know? >> this one of the biggest things that are or sometimes when it comes to communicating with our constituents that the voters to our clients. and so if my clients spanish that i'm going to be speaking spanish, making sure that we're meeting our hispanic community where they are. and speaking of meeting voters where they are, the roundtable was held here at this property in the central valley city are set. >> at first glance, it may look like an ordinary house, but it's actually what the party describes as one of its many community centers set up across the state. >> these are typical campaign headquarters where we just

watch precinct watson due from banks. we do that, but we have everything from civics lessons to cost less. with specific phone banks that occur in each one of these community centers. efforts like that, according to patterson, have helped the gop make inroads statewide. >> in fact, voter registration numbers released by the state show between october 2023 in july of this year. >> california saw increase in registered republicans by nearly 200,000 voters. in that same time period, registered democrats saw a decrease of more than 112,000 voters and no party preference also take down by more than 64,000 voters. patterson believes that could help candidates and a handful of close congressional races, including the race for california's 9th congressional district. just south of sacramento between incumbent democrat josh harder and his challenger, republican stockton mayor kevin lincoln going to washington. my focus is policies that help

facilitate, you economic opportunity. you're feeling confident out 2024, i feel very good about 2024, but so too, are democrat, even with republican gains registered democrats still outnumber registered republicans by about 2 to one in california. and as pertains to this congressional race harder recently held this fundraiser featuring democratic house minority leader hakeem jeffries. hundreds of people showed up. people are fired up and they're ready to go. they are excited about what they're seeing across our community and can keep that up. but republicans say they're the ones with the momentum. >> the enthusiasm is 100% on our side. we're not just going to be holding the house majority in california. we're going to be growing reporting him or said a tonn wallace kron. 4 news. a bill aimed at keeping bridge crossings free for pedestrians. and cyclists now has governor gavin newsom signature. >> this is for bridges across california assembly member phil ting from san francisco is behind the bill. he says he wants to continue to keep these crossings to encourage people to pursue climate friendly ways of transportation. his office

says at the golden gate bridge alone, an average of 10,000 people in 6,000 cyclists cross the bridge every day. well, back in 2020, thousands, rather tens of thousands of people in the bay area were forced to evacuate because of massive wildfires. that was life changing. events inspired and oakland artist and a pulitzer prize winning author from san jose to partner up and create a children's book. tells the story of a vietnamese american girl who was forced to leave her own home to escape the flames. simon taps into artistic abilities to process that event and bring her peers together to heal. and here's part of our interview with the it on when and many fans. >> i thought, well, what are kids doing? children doing right now to understand climate catastrophe, global warming, all these big feelings. and so i wrote a story about a girl and how she uses art process i was intrigued by the premise and by the sketches. and so that i wrote the story that we have. and as the father of a

four-legged stowaway traveled across the peninsula. the siamese kitten made its way into the underside of a car in redwood city. all look at that little cutie. jeff roast in the car's owner says he had traveled about 20 miles before he heard squeal coming from under his car. he called the peninsula humane society and rescue crews came to help once they got the kid. now the little guy was treated at the humane society and good news. the kitten made a full recovery and was put up for adoption and now he has a new home. the very driver who founded was meant to be. and check out this adorable video out of oakland. this is

much for joining us here on o the kron 4 weekend morning news. i'm stephanie lin. we have a lot to get you for you this saturday morning. let's get by starting with a look at the weather with mister dave spahr a day all while you're looking inquisitive. good morning to a 70 good morning, everybody. so what we have today is i don't say it's a break from summer, but it's not as intense summer is we're going to be treated to lake huron. >> for the week. that's coming up ahead. but first, things first. we talked about the fog and all the spots. well, looking great at san jose state. there's the cobalt blue opening up nicely. different story. the golden gate. this is usually a problem area anyway, but you can see it. it's ground level here and that has to lift off to give us overcast at the coast. by the way, speaking of the fog for today, you see it is a little problematic there along the cfast and at least for good chunk of san francisco for much of the day, particularly the residential areas in the west near the beaches. now, part of this is because the air right above us, a little bit warm and the

continuation of these onshore winds is going to continue to supply that juicy air. matt, whatever we get from the pacific, they will continue to come in and it's hard to get rid of it because it doesn't get very buoyant to go up to mix out. now we do have dry air above us. so that will chip away throughout the day, which is done through much of the bay already lower 60's light up the east bay shoreline. for now, we got 63 for antioch up north, lower 50's. 65 meanwhile for san jose and quick comparison for you, pretty close to the numbers. and yesterday, although in spots like san francisco trailing there, you can see so for today about 82 at high noon up to about 86 by 3 o'clock tomorrow looks to be much the same if not a little better. and then early next it's coming back again. big heat spike will probably have some heat statements along with that as well. have more details on that in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. we're on top of breaking news this morning. 3 people are behind bars after poliee say. >> a group of robbed someone at gunpoint in san francisco. investigators say the robbery

happened early last sunday morning off bayshore avenue in the apparel city neighborhood. officers say when they got to the scene, a victim told them the suspects took his electric scooter police eventually tracked down the suspects along with that stolen item and they arrested 18 year-old jefferson galo and jeff a 16 year-old boy was also arrested. that crew faces multiple charges including armed robbery and conspiracy. and our top story this morning for braunfels busted in the bay area in just under a month in the latest san jose case, 2 women now face human trafficking charges. jack moment has reaction from nearby neighbors. >> san jose police say it took them months to investigate this specific brought on east side. san jose and when they were able to make an arrest, they were also able to find and rescue to human trafficking victims. but the city council member who represents that district, peter ortiz tells me he's afraid that the human trafficking suspects are preying upon latino and asian immigrants in that community.

>> for months right off of what he said. san jose's busiest intersections. a brothel was running in plain view. i live. >> in the apartments next to where this brothel was discovered. city council member for district 5 peter ortiz says this recent bust comes as a shock. these are people's daughters. these are people's family members. san jose police say they found 2 victims of human trafficking at this apartment after a months long investigation. the apartment is now boarded up the ring camera broken on the floor. >> that's very shannon nelson lives in the same apartment complex and said >> while the months were going on with this brothel functioning, she had no idea. yeah, it would have been nice to know. >> from the office then informed of what was going on. police say this is the 4th t in san jose just this month. 3 of them were in the same neighborhood. these investigations go back months

with officers going undercover as clients. police records show text messages exchanged between investigators and people accused of running the brothels. they include photos of the victims sent to the detectives and offer its like $120 for 30 minutes or $160 for an hour. police say they were then sent the address to where these brothels were allegedly happening, which led to the arrests were working with the san jose police department as well as the county and their human trafficking task force to make sure that we can identify instances of this throughout our neighborhood. tell some of ortiz says human traffickers prey on latino and asian immigrants in east side. san jose, they may not speak english fluently and and so they less likely raise those concerns. human trafficking is a crime that is horrendous. you know it. it preys on are in and it's innocent and most vulnerable populations. and and we're not going to stand for that. city council member ortiz says that he's looking forward to eventually cracking down on will drop throughout

east side, san jose. but he may not have to wait that long as of. >> this week, governor gavin newsom signed off on several bills which will now be laws. >> which will make it better protections for human trafficking victims and also make it easier to prosecute human trafficking suspects reported here in san jose jacmel. but kron 4 news. >> 805 this morning taking a live look outside of the trans america pyramid. you can see it just beneath the that fog out there. and we know that a window on one of the higher floors it shattered on friday. it sent last down onto the sidewalk and into the street below. let's take a look at the damage. the property owners say a part of a window was damaged during a routine cleaning. thankfully, they say no one was hurt in a team did respond quickly to get the glass off the street. inspectors say the building is now safe. but of course, we also remember earlier this month, the class also fell from the sales force east tower that kratz to ground floor windows on the way down.

crews were installing that class when it fell from the top of the 30 storey skyscraper on mission street. and thankfully no one was hurt in this incident, either. if you're just waking up with us, take a look at this mess left behind after a car smashed through the front of a san jose laundromat. san jose police say it happened friday morning at the wash and dry on tully and king roads. you can see glass shattered across the business entrance. plus, some damage washing machines as well. we're told the driver of the car was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. thankfully no one went inside. the building was hurt. and we're asking if the driver faces any charges. developing now in the east bay, too, alarming attacks in a matter of hours. on friday afternoon, the oakland police department shared new details about a possible stabbing after thursday's final a's game at the coliseum and a deadly shooting. a couple hours later, shooting happened just before 6 on wilson avenue just north of 5.80, near fruitvale elementary school officers arrived and found victim dead.

police say the shooter or shooters appear to target a group of people standing nearby. but police do not know who the intended target might have been. we'll update you as soon as we get more details. local police also investigating a stabbing they say possibly happen at the coliseum after the final is home game. officers say a person who attended the game and had been drinking got back to his home in contra costa county. and that's when he realized he was bleeding and might have been stabbed. the man went to the hospital where he told police he thought it might have happened at the coliseum. police are now investigating. and staying in the east bay. now that the a's played their final game in oakland, many are asking what happens to the coliseum next. charles clifford has details after speaking with the new owners of the coliseum. well, for the first time since the oakland coliseum was built in the 1960's, there are no professional sports teams playing here. >> but all goes well in the years ahead, this entire site will get a makeover. and

professional sports will return starting next year. in an emotional and rousing display a's fans said goodbye to their team during the coliseum. al home game at p- >> but the cheers have faded away. the a's are moving on. the coliseum now sits quiet, but definitely not forgotten. in recent months. the oakland based african american sports and entertainment group or a a s a g has reached deals with the city of oakland, alameda county and the a's to take over sole ownership of the property, which includes the nearby oakland arena. they are now working with a developer to re. imagine the future of this historic location. >> i'm really excited about the new chapter of the site. ray bobbitt is the entertainment group's president. he says they are looking at possibly dividing the coliseum. >> into 20 different development pads that could be used for housing, open space and retail. and while a final plan is probably still a few years away, he says the public will be part of the process. >> the opportunities for what we can build there. our are extremely open and the

down the suspect who shot himself after leading police on a chase. and then a standoff. the suspect has been identified as boxes are juarez. he was taken into custody and is now recovering at the hospital. if you see reached a multi-million dollar agreement with the country's largest owner of single-family homes. our washington correspondent maddie beer-temple reports. >> the federal trade commission says a 48 million dollar settlement should put an end to what it calls predatory tactics by the nation's largest landlord of single-family homes. the ftc says invitation homes was charging hidden fees and withholding security deposits, not even. >> maintaining livable conditions at various points. ftc chair lina khan says this was a deliberate strategy to really create revenue, even though it was coming at the expense of on us renters invitation. homes says the agreement contains no admission of wrongdoing. it says the settlement, quote, puts this matter behind the company.

say the shooter turned himself in friday morning. no word yet on what led up to the shooting. we'll update you on this story as soon as we learn more. and a woman in the north bay died after chp says she was hit by multiple cars. this happened early friday morning on highway 101 in cotati. officers say before the collision they saw the woman walking on the shoulder of th southbound lanes. the chp says when they tried to approach or she ran across the freeway into the northbounlanewas she was hit by traffic. investigators say they're looking into whether the woman was under the influence. and take a look at this car flipphd on its roof fight friday evening in oakland. chp says the crash happened on westbound. i-580, east of lakeshore avenue, all 4 west bound lanes were temporarily shut down. they were reopened a few hours later for asking if anyone was hurt. and developing news out of san francisco, a man has been convicted of breaking in vandalizing a san francisco synagogue district attorney brooke jenkins says 43

no party preference also ticked down by more than 64,000 voters. patterson believes that could help candidates and a handful of close congressional races, including the race for california's 9th congressional district. just south of sacramento between incumbent democrat josh harder and his challenger, republican stockton mayor kevin lincoln going to washington. my focus is policies that help facility, you know, economic opportunity. you're feeling confident out 2024, i feel very good about 2024, but so too, are democrats even with republican gains registered democrats still outnumber registered republicans by about 2 to one in california. and as it pertains to this congressional race harder recently held this fundraiser featuring democratic house minority leader hakeem jeffries. hundreds of people showed up. people are fired up and they're ready to go. they are excited about what they're seeing across our community and can keep that up. but republicans say they're the ones with the momentum. >> the enthusiasm is 100% on our side. we're not just going to be holding the house majority in california. we're

invasive will will do that. so if we can safely put in a device if we have devices available for that patients, exact heart defect, if it's the right size for them we'll do that through. there are some things that we still unfortunately can treat and we have to go the searches for. >> tommy's parents say that he is doing great these days. the itself, i think only took maybe one hour. as for tommy's parents say that post-surgery used loving school, reading books and being just a kid. >> like other families to know that may be in similar situations, you may be 3 things learn as much as you can about the condition that your child has and the options that are available to them with consultation of a physician. know that these procedures are very safe when kids need to have minimally invasive procedure to a condition in their hearts. and also just know again, speaking maybe from abbott where we both it's a very meaningful job. >> a key.

with the fall season comes cravings for fall. comfort foods right? and back with us today in studio is leslie dabney. the vineyard mom, she's showing us how to make an autumn quiche and it sounds delicious. thank you for having me. stephanie. i love the flavors of fall. how about you? absolutely. give me a good pumpkin pie quiche. oh, my goodness, right? well, right now we have great, great veggies that are farmers market. so i'm making a case that's really going to highlight all of those flavors. so in quiche butternut squash, wolf, some kale mushrooms on leaks. so we here now. i already started to saute all of those ingredients because the that we know butternut squash needs a little bit to soften up. i added the kale witch ad saw much deliciousness in color. and are you butternut squash? i love butternut squash it. one of my favorite fall rice

have these beautiful beats that i sliced now you can make these at home by roasting them for 45 minutes. but honestly, you can also get them at your produce section at grocery store. tip there. so you can just slice those up there. so beautiful there. so hard and good for you meaty how you really feel like you're eating something substantial. exactly. and to i'm going to ask for some crunch. a few sliced almonds. and i'm going to add my dressing first, your home, a dressing that you do from scratch. love this balsamic. very easy. balsamic vinegar. a little bit of extra virgin olive dijon mustard and to get a little bit of sweetness into it because that's a kind of acid like with that. had a little bit of honey. yes. so it's great flavor. shake it up really well, because you want to make sure that that's all well incorporated. now, how long does dressing made from scratch? how that usually good

for? because there's no preservatives and right eye mind. usually last at least a week, maybe 2. but honestly, when i mix alex like this distressing goes by so quickly, my family loves it. so but at least 2 weeks, you can get it going and i try to make enough that i can hold on to it for just about that much a time. i don't want it sitting around. yeah. well, stay fresh. yeah. good. and then at the and i'm going to add the cochise they re. so we've got to have the cheese. yes, so i'm going to top it with a little bit ago. cheese and that is a beautiful fall solid to go with that beautiful quiche that i think we have some new dessert dessert does so to. so we're going to do again what's in season, beautiful pairs and you can pick any kind of care that you like this different once. this is a bartlett and i make a crumble to go on top and i'm just going to start with a little bit of the oats. and if you could add and men's almonds, ok, we're going to

>> a a5 this morning at a four-legged stowaway traveled across the peninsula. the siamese kitten made its way into the underside of a car in redwood city. ralston way i know. it's so cute, says that the kitty traveled about 20 miles before he heard a squeal coming from under his car. there. so we called the peninsula humane society. rescue crews came out to help and once they got the kidney out, the little guy was treated at the humane society. good news. the kitten a day for recovery and was put up for adoption yea. now he has a new home. the same driver who found him so truly it was it was meant to be, i think no more car place. i don't we'll be ready in a car for around. yeah. well, today is going to be warm. we're going to be getting hot, though, coming into the future. but here's a look at the highs we've been talking about. >> and we'll have a little bit more in your 4 zone forecast. coming up the next hour on kron on you can catch is they're like lower 90's going

on again, the far east bay up north. it's mostly the 80's story. we're going to probably replicate much of this tomorrow, except the fog is going to peel away a lot quicker. here's your seven-day gameplan out getting kind of nasty there in the middle of the screen. yeah, 100 plus and probably gonna have some heat advisory talk here with us. stephanie, that 103. start to get close to excessive heat warning don't know yet. but for the bay area, i think you can count on some heat statements. they would probably pop maybe as early as sunday night. but maybe into monday as well. because money is going to be pretty toasty as well. upper 90's working there. then they get ahead. looks okay. thursday friday as we return to numbers somewhat next weekend, somewhat similar to what we're getting this weekend and during that entire time period also looked ahead as well. i don't see any major off when pops, which is good news because that's dry air. and that's very problematic. not that this is great for fire season, but at least we don't have a lot of the offshore winds cooking here because that's really bad. so we do see a couple of fronts coming that break this up a
