further than that as we go into monday early next week. we'll get into that a bit right now, the east bay shoreline. you can see there's the traditional fog covering things up. don't worry. it'll clear on out. there's the golden gate bridge. now you can see it's lifted above at least the you can see the towers. but just an overcast kind of gloomy view for now. well, that fog will zips away real quickly by 12 o'clock. even up the coast. it's all been cleared away. now. this is the next part of the story. that's right. monday through y% wednesday, heat advisory, the bay-area in total. this is not only that. it's also the peninsula and san francisco proper. it doesn't include solano county. technically it's a different forecast office. that's really why lot of 50's going on across the bay for right now. east bay shoreline, lower 60's. that contrast yesterday, rush a little warmer going on this morning. as you can see, a little warmer up there to santa rosa. meanwhile, well, inland, only a degree or so difference the breakdown today. once we shake off this morning fog, it's sunny. 68 11 by 2 at 82. not a bad day today. no 90's on the board, but as we mentioned, things are changing next week. more

forecast coming up in a bit. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you. our top story this morning out of redwood city where 2 shootings happened in just one week his jack moment. reports with the latest on the investigation and the search for suspects. >> both of these shootings happening within just days of each other. and also both of these shootings happening right off this section of l camino in redwood city. now i spoke with neighbors and business owners who tell me they fear this part of redwood city has become a lot more unsafe in recent years. >> i just heard a lady screaming couple screaming and crying and stuff. but friday night someone shot and killed after what officials tell kron 4 was an argument that turned into a fight in the parking lot of a talker. just brown lives behind the parking lot and says fights and crimes. >> are increasing. so i think there's a lot of that element going on across the street there. police didn't offer many details about this particular shooting. we tried to speak to the top about what they with us. but they were

just to shake it up. they told us everyone in the restaurant scattered when shots rang out. i would like for it to to to to stop. that's the scene after the shooting is still fresh. redwood city police giving this talker it behind me. these evidence bags in case there are any traces of those bullets that were flying on friday evening. still present here in this parking lot. very sad, very disappointing. and i know that lots of people win. >> these kind of incidents happen are just, you know, actually worried councilmember for district 4 elmer martinez to buy oath says this shooting comes just 2 days after another shooting of jackson street where someone was left in critical condition. part of it is a gun. violence is, you know, playing not just in our community, but across the country. right. and i think last incident was a tragic example of that. according to the department of justice, when you compare 2023 to pre-pandemic levels, violent crime redwood city doubled. councilmember sub ios says his district is full of latino

immigrants who he says do not trust. speaking to the police. they're now looking for anyone's immigration status, but they really just want to close these cases and make sure our community feels safe confident knowing that the police department is working hard to to close these thank you. and more police intervention can't come soon enough for business owners like muhammad ta who says they've already been broken into the situation and the city is affecting the business along business. he tells us is down 40% compared to last year. >> he may have to move it think that we think about going down. you cannot survive action. redwood city jacmel but krtn 4 news. >> a man is expected to survive after police say he was shot saturday afternoon in san francisco, outer mission district. police responded around 02:00pm near good in berks tree and mcdonald's. they found a man shot there. he was treated on scene by paramedics and rushed to the

hospital. witnesses say car drove away around the same time. they believe it was involved in the shooting. police continue to search for evidence, witnesses or other possible victims. a paramedic is recovering this morning after a man broke into an ambulance in san francisco. it happened friday night at zuckerberg, san francisco general hospital, according to the fire department, the man smashed a window and then tried to steal medical equipment inside san francisco fire says quick action from aunties and other staff on scene prevented other vehicles from being damaged. the sheriff's office did arrest a suspect. starting tomorrow pg e says power shut offs are possible in alameda. contra costa, napa and sonoma counties over elevated fire risk and estimated 1000 customers could be affected through tuesday. the utility company says once the severe weather passes there will there were quickly to restore power. you can find more information on pg e resource centers on their website. new this morning, some of you might felt a little shaken

this morning after a 4.2 magnitude earthquake in a row must. that's about 47 minutes south of san jose and san benito for nia. according to the u.s. geological survey, this happened around 2.47. this morning. thankfully no reports of any injuries or buildings damaged. we'll continue to follow that developing story for you. >> people are terrified. they're very concerned about this >> and developing this morning, dog owners are on high alert in san francisco this morning after several coyote attacks. some of those attacks at crissy field have turned deadly kron four's. sara stinson spoke with a local dog group demanding more to be done. >> the signs are all over crissy field and beach warning dog owners about coyotes. this one says alert off-leash dog and coyote aggression has been reported here. but one san francisco dog group says signs are not enough in preventing these attacks. coyotes are

taking over some of san francisco's most popular parks and beaches, crissy field baker beach could become a hunting ground for dogs so far this month, 3 dogs have been confirmed to be killed by coyotes. >> at crissy field and dog attacks have been reported weekly. you know, all of a sudden they're being really, really bold there, too comfortable with people because people have been feeding them. martha walters is the chair of the crissy field dog group. she says in the last 5 months there's been a major spike in coyote attacks. i've seen 2 attacks at crissy field. i've talked to east 100 people since late april. i've spoken to probable it. >> about 3 or 4 people have had to have lost their talks. the coyotes in the presidio too. and so it's it's something that is very traumatizing. but walter says there should be a public database where you can see real-time reporting of these incidents. the longtime group is now calling on the golden gate national recreation area.

>> and the presidio trust to be more transparent. we would like to see your data of coyote incidents and sightings and they won't give it to us. so we finally had to file a freedom of information act by a public record to get documents to see because i'm a data person. let's look at the data. the golden gate, national recreation area tells kron 4 that each of the deaths this month involved off-leash dogs. the agency has posted signs in the area to warn people and offer safety tips advising dog owners to report coyote encounters to park dispatch and to walk dogs on a leash. dog owners at crissy field say they see coyotes often and many have experienced encounters. he has chased one-off least before. so. >> it's happened. we're a lot more careful now when i know was kind tease. i called my dog back and i got really big i thought about scaring away. bears is what i found in my head. its giveaway right away.

>> park officials tell us they will be monitoring the area over the next several days to haze coyotes, which is a tactic to scare off. the coyote is in deter them from coming back. i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. and take a look at this. novato police say 5 people rammed a car into a store front to break into a business on diablo avenue. it happened around 03:00am saturday. person is in custody. officers spotted 2 cars speeding off and followed one of them to richmond where the driver crashed. police arrested the driver and that car was also confirmed to be stolen. police also recovered stolen merchandise inside the vehicle. the investigation is ongoing. governor gavin newsom announced the last batch of bills he's either signed or vetoed one of those bills would have allowed undocumented immigrants to apply for unemployment benefits. newsom says it required money not included in the state budget. it's the second time a week. he's a second time in a week whether

he's vetoed a bill that would support undocumented immigrants. last week he killed a bill that would have opened campus jobs to undocumented students in the uc. and cal state university systems. happening today. anyone thinking of heading into san francisco should expect to add some time to their commute. the giants finished their three-game series against the cardinals starting at noon, drivers are advised to expect heavy traffic on the roads surrounding the stadium both before and after the game. also today, it is the folsom street fair, the annual san francisco event is expected to draw a large crowd. many wearing whether another colorful attire. the event happens on 8th street to 13th street along folsom and san francisco and lots of activities are expected dancing, live music. and for those wearing anything at all, you might be considered a little overdressed. some organizers suggest coming up on the kron 4 weekend morning news. new details in the lawsuit against the driver accused of hitting and killing this little girl in the south bay.

gorgeous view above the clouds and just so pretty to see the sun beaming down on the top of those clouds. they're orange yellowish today, isn't it? yeah, ready. yeah. the water colors coming out today. you know, we saw this yesterday. >> but, you know, it just kind of hung around at the coastal but in san francisco. but this go around different story. this all going to peel away very nicely for us today. and to show you the extent of this, this is reaching down to san jose state as well. so it's again, far-reaching there. it is the east bay shoreline. again, this is some ground fog to deal with up in the hills. meanwhile, our temps in the 50's feeling good at that lower 60's ligbay shore francisco coming in at 57. 55 for half moon bay. but on futurecast for war gone by 2 in the afternoon. looking good all over the bay for the coast to the bay. wonderful sunday. we can go ahead and call it a nice warm spring day. that will probably work because it will not work for the rest of the forecast for the week ahead. going to be quite toasty and really was going to run through the rest of this. you can see the fog returning the monterey bay a little bit

tomorrow morning, but not for long as we get into another scenario that sets up in our weather pattern, ok, mostly sunny and nice today, 70's for the bay 80's inland. early in the week, heat advisory we talked about this is monday through wednesday. almost all the bay technically solano county is not in that because that comes out of the sacramento office. now for this week, temperatures will relax a little bit by thursday meeting. they won't be so stratospheric. they're going to drop a bit, but still going to be much warmer than today. and then what's going to be warm into the weekend, which it looks like there's another scenario. not quite set up the exact same way as this one, but somewhat similar. we've seen this kind of tape before that will be for next weekend, meaning another hot weekend coming. 69 today, san francisco. we got the early clouds mild. 73, oakland, turning mostly sunny and nice. 82. meanwhile, 4 san jose into some leftover fog clouds at that. look at this temperature map. you're going new have a new set of colors for by tomorrow and into tuesday. but the oranges are out upper 80's there for the east bay. up to

the north, a hodgepodge of some 80 some 70's there got 69 delay over the east bay shoreline in the upper 70's and half moon bay with the fog in place right now. but you see how crowded it gets on the temperature map. 89 today, 98 for monday, 104, for tuesday. lot lot. it's hot and it will be hot into looks like the middle of the week until that final breaks down. not your type of the safety power shutoff something like that. there is a minor little pop of offshore winds, but they don't last very long. thank goodness. yeah. and that does spill a little bit into solano county in napa in a little bit in the east bay. but it's very brief in the big issues going to be yet when wouldn't have these this heat. so it's going to get hot without any winds even on that we love minor onshore winds, but a lot. so, yeah, so definitely good reminder there. if people can stay indoors with the fan that's the thing for the people. the city, too, because lot of us have cisco don't have ac know when you get the heat advisory, that usually means you're not getting your good solid winds. you're not gonna get that breeze like you're used to getting it all

the time. definitely keep the windows open get whatever you can. you know. good ideas there. thanks so much, sir. >> okay. for vice president kamala harris arrived in san francisco on saturday. take a look at this. harris was here for a fundraising event. she landed in the bay area on friday night to meet with donors and then tickets for the saturday event. those range in prices from $500 up to $900,000. and harris is now in los angeles for a campaign fundraiser today. this follows, of course, her friday visit to arizona at the border with mexico to talk about immigration. and it's one of the big issues for voters ahead of election day. reporter linda shiraz. he has more for us. we're also a nation of immigrants. >> the united states has been enriched by generations of people who have come from every corner of the world to contribute to our country to become part of the american story. and so we must reform

histories, both felonies and misdemeanors that are not currently detained by ice of those. there are about 13,000 homicide convictions and nearly 16,000 for assault. >> though, the timeframe of those convictions and entry into the u.s. are unclear. >> according to news nation's decision desk polling from earlier this year, 30% of americans rank immigration as the top issue in the united states today. trailing only inflation. new polling shows a majority of voters say trump handles border security and immigration better than harris. >> you're on reporting for u.s., meantime, former president donald trump held a rally in the battleground state of wisconsin saturday. it was moved indoors at the last minute because of security and secret service staffing concerns. trump largely focused his attacks on vice president harris and her recent visit to the border. maybe dean is in wisconsin following the trump campaign.

us this sunday. we're gonna get you started this half hour with a look at your forecast. first heyday. >> hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. you looks like today will make up for some of that fog was lingering in some parts there with mostly sunny skies and not a bad warm spring day is what we have is what it will feel like particularly compared to what's happening because deep hard summer is coming our way. it looks like next week. here's the east bay shoreline. still kind of deal with some of that fog a little bit up on the east bay hills, swing of things around the sfo. they actually have a delay this morning about 37 minutes or so. but we didn't really have one yesterday. but today because of the fog you can see there. but most of this clears out really quickly within the next couple of hours. it's gotten even at the coast. it's gone before noon. giving idea everybody's going to be pretty much enjoying mostly sunny weather the warm side, but not too bad here. 50's across much of the inland areas, lower 60's line up the east bay shoreline. the breakdown for you puts us at 68 11 by 2 at 82 with most readings in the 80's. it looks like today, in fact, will probably fall shy

of 90. we won't for the rest of the week, though it's 11:00am through monday through 11:00pm wednesday with this heat advisory for the entire bay area. that also includes san francisco and does not for solano county have more on forecast and maybe another one hiding in the wake forest by next weekend. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> developing now in san francisco, there are calls to make the streets safer for pedestrians after 2 recent deadly crashes on san francisco's lombard street. as kron four's, sara stinson explains a bill aiming to do just that is currently on governor gavin newsom's desk. >> the non-profit walk sf is putting the word out about the 2 recent pedestrian deaths by putting signs up so far more people have now died after getting hit by cars this year compared to 2023. new signs hang along. san francisco's lombard streets working to sites where a pedestrian got hit and killed by a driver.

the nonprofit walk says the 2 recent deaths are adding on to an alarming total. we've now had 18 pedestrian deaths in san francisco. a 7 year-old woman was hit by a driver on september. 12th at the interscction of lombard and laguna streets. she has since died from her injuries. then on saturday, a 52 year-old man was hit and killed by a car. >> on lombard and goff streets, my heart broken for. 2 families who just lost loved ones in 2 weeks right here. the sign's caught the eye of ohana magnussen who has lived off of lombard for nearly 30 years sends a message to me that it's not safe to walk around in this neighborhood. magnussen has also been driving for lyft and uber in the city for a decade. she says she sees a lot of reckless driving. i see people running red lights, least 5 to 6 times a day. >> and it's just a disrespect for human life and has to stop. >> and have you ever seen anyone get pulled over? >> almost never. lombard

street is one of the main arteries for drivers to get to and from the golden gate bridge, marta lindsay with walk sf says speeding has become out of control. and number one thing that needs to happen on this street is speaks to come down. and right now it designed in a way that encourages drivers to go way too fast. its speed limits 30 miles an hour. despite being next, a resident, you know, these are residential streets. a bill put forth by state senator scott wiener aims to help make state-owned streets like lombard safer. make shore. >> caltrans is working closely with the city of san francisco on lombard 19th avenue, all of the various state on the roads and francisco to improve safety. i know a lot art is a very fast street. this is senator wiener. second time putting forth a bill like this. the last one got vetoed by the governor, but he's hopeful this one will get signed. the governor has until september 30th to sign or veto bills. i'm sara stinson reporting back to you.

>> san jose community members gathering at the intersection of jackson street and would set lane thursday too. celebrate hispanic heritage month and a new crosswalk. community leaders say they advocated for that crosswalk outside a school saying that busy intersection was often the site of many pedestrian fatalities. >> walking across the street with the students right with the mariachi is with the immigrant community. that was a testament, right, that our city stands with our eastside families are city stands with our latino are vietnamese, an immigrant populations, right? we're not going to the other way when they're getting hurt and when they're in danger. >> after the ribbon cutting of the new crosswalk, community members gathered at rocketship fuerza elementary school too. this into the mariachi band. they also showed off some of their traditional clothing in honor of hispanic heritage month. a man has been arrested in coma for stealing $10 worth of merchandise and threatening the manager with a knife.

police are sharing details on that arrest which happened but a knife threatening to use it. he was arrested. police say he also had drugs on him, possibly met. he was arrested and booked into the san mateo jail. happening right now. police are once again looking for this girl. karen escobar, korea. >> we reported on her about a month ago about how she went missing in july, but was found safely about a week ago. but now from a police have reported that she's runoff from home again last night around 08:00pm. she is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall around 115 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. she was last seen in the area of 3rd street and f street last month she was described as being 12 years old by the oakland police department. this time she's has been described as 11 year-olds by

fpd. we reached out to fremont police to get this situation cleared up. and hundreds of coliseum workers face an uncertain future. now that the a's are set to leave oakland, the union representing the hospitality workers tells kron 4 no severance pay is being offered. there won't be any health care coverage. workers are accusing era marked their employer at the coliseum of breaking a contract that promised these benefits. the union filed a grievance with the company and hopes to go to arbitration suit. >> we also made a request to air march. said no to expedite the arbitration. the workers wouldn't have to wait a long time. and they also said, no, it's like they. >> just been our thing. >> the oakland a's committed a million dollars to help with the coliseum vendor assistance fund which also supports workers employed by aramark. a family of an 11 year-old girl filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver involved in a crash that killed her call for assistance is spoke with the

attorney representing the family. >> a walk home from a park turned tragic for a cupertino family. 11 year-old molly qatari was among 4 children walking in the bike lane when investigators say a truck plowed into them on april 27th. >> my he was walking back from a park near her home with. her sister and her 2 cousins that were visiting from india and her father and her grandfather were walking with them. just several steps behind. they're legally walking in the bike lane because there wasn't a continuous sidewalk. qatari died at the hospital a couple days later. >> her family has now filed a lawsuit against the driver of the truck. sima bought is the family's attorney. i don't know if i can. overstate the hole that's been. left in the heart. my he's parents but says mall, he's younger sister and cousins, ages 8, 7, and 4

suffered serious injuries. she also fears of the emotional damage done to the children. her sister watched. >> her older sister die right in front of eyes. so >> all these all the children have suffered the santa clara county sheriff's office identified the driver as 38 year-old adam. she in lieu of cupertino, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. but so far has not been charged with the crime. the family is also suing grandparents who owned the truck involved but says they should not have loaned it to him when he was unfit to drive. according to our investigation. >> he had had at least one dui in the past and he did not have a valid driver's license at the time of this incident, but says they're in the process of filing another lawsuit against the city of cupertino in hopes that it will make this stretch of road safer for pedestrians and hoping that by this lawsuit we can help effect some change because this should not happen

again. i reached out to the city manager of cupertino as well as the santa clara county district attorney to learn about any potential criminal charges. but i did not hear back in time for this report. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in cupertino. kron. 4 news. >> all roads are back open in santa rosa after a hazmat spill. parts of north avenue in all side streets between west 9th and hewitt streets were blocked off for several hours. that's crews cleaned up about 300 gallons that was a mix of several fluids, including diesel gas, oil and transmission fluid. that liquid apparently fell off a truck, creating spills and several locations that took hours to clean. and the san francisco city attorney filed a final brief in the u.s. supreme court against the epa hoping to save city residents from what he calls massive bill increases. according to the epa, the city has had a massive sewage water problem so bad. the agency filed a complaint against the city claiming 1.8 million gallons

most your inland readings are going to be into the 80's will probably be shy of 90, but make up for that in quick order by monday. we'll have more on this heat spike coming our way coming up in a bit. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. our top story this morning out of redwood city. >> were 2 shootings happened in just one week. proffers jack moment reports with the latest on the investigation and the search for suspects. both of these shootings happening within just days of each other and also both of these shootings happening right off this section of l camino in redwood city. now i spoke with neighbors and business owners who tell me they fear this part of redwood city has become a lot more unsafe. >> in recent years. >> i just heard a lady screaming couple screaming and crying and stuff. but friday night someone shot and killed after what officials tell kron 4 was an argument that turned into a fight in the parking lot of a talker. just brown lives behind the parking lot and says fights and crimes. >> are increasing. so i i think there's a lot of that element going on across the

street there. police didn't offer many details about this particular shooting. we tried to speak to the top about what they witness but they were just to shake it up. they told us everyone in the restaurant scattered when shots rang out. i would like for it to to to to stop. that's the scene after the shooting is still fresh. redwood city police giving this talker it behind me. these evidence bags in case there are any traces of those bullets that were flying on friday evening. still present here in this parking lot. very sad, very disappointing. and i know that lots of people win. >> these kind of incidents happen are just, you know, actually worried councilmember for district 4 elmer martinez to buy oath says this shooting comes just 2 days after another shooting of jackson street where someone was left in critical condition. part of it is that gun violence is, you know, playing not just in our community, but across the country. right. and i think last incident was a tragic example of that. according to the department of justice, when you compare 2023 to

around 02:00pm near gutenberg street and mcdonald's. they found a man shot. he was treated on scene by paramedics and taken to the hospital. witnesses say a car drove away around the same time. they believe it was involved in the shooting. police continue to search for evidence, witnesses were other possible victims. a paramedic is recovering this morning after a man broke into an ambulance in san francisco. it happened friday night at zuckerberg, san francisco general hospital, according to the fire department, the man smashed a window and then tried to steal medical equipment inside san francisco fire says quick action from staff on scene prevented other vehicles from being damaged. the san francisco sheriff's excuse me. sheriff's office arrested a suspect. and starting tomorrow pg e says power shut offs are possible in alameda contra costa, napa and sonoma counties over elevated fire risk. estimated 1000 customers could be affected through tuesday. the utility company says once the severe weather passes, they'll work quickly to restore power. you can find more on pg e

resource centers on their website. new this morning, some of you may have felt a little shaken after a 4.2 magnitude earthquake in a row it's about 47 minutes south of san jose in san benito for nia. according to the u.s. geological survey, this happened around 2.47. this morning. thankfully, we're not seeing any reports of injuries or billing buildings damaged. >> people are terrified. they're very concerned about this >> developing this morning, dog owners on high alert in san francisco after several coyote attacks. some of those attacks at crissy field have turned deadly kron four's. sara stinson spoke with a local dog group that's demanding more be done. >> the signs are all over crissy field and beach warning dog owners about coyotes. this one says alert off-leash dog and coyote aggression has been reported here. but one san francisco dog group says signs are not enough in preventing these attacks. coyotes are

taking over some of san francisco's most popular parks and beaches, crissy field baker beach could become a hunting ground for dogs so far this month, 3 dogs have been confirmed to be killed by coyotes. >> at crissy field and dog attacks have been reported weekly. you know, all of a sudden they're being really, really bold there, too comfortable with people because people have been feeding them. martha walters is the chair of the crissy field dog group. she says in the last 5 months there's been a major spike in coyote attacks. i've seen 2 attacks at crissy field. i've talked to east 100 people since late april. i've spoken to probable it. >> about 3 or 4 people have had to have lost talks. the coyotes in the presidio too. and so it's it's something that is very traumatizing. but walter says there should be a public database where you can see real-time reporting of these incidents. the longtime group is now calling on the golden gate national

recreation area. >> and the presidio trust to be more transparent. we would like to see your data of coyote incidents and sightings and they won't give it to us. so we finally had to file a freedom of information act by a public record to get documents to see because i'm a data person. let's look at the data. the golden gate, national recreation area tells kron 4 that each of the deaths this month involved off-leash dogs. the agency has posted signs in the area to warn people and offer safety tips advising dog owners to report coyote encounters to park dispatch and to walk dogs on a leash. dog owners at crissy field say they see coyotes often and many have experienced encounters. he has chased one-off least before. so. >> it's happened. we're a lot more careful now when i know was kind a tease. i called my dog back and i got really big i thought about scaring away. bears is what i found in my head. its giveaway right away.

>> park officials tell us they will be monitoring the area over the next several days to haze coyotes, which is a tactic to scare off. the coyote is in deter them from coming back. i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. all right, 808, this morning and take a look at this. novato police. >> say 5 people rammed a car into a storefront to break into a business on diablo avenue. it happened around 03:00am saturday. one person is in custody. officers spotted 2 cars speeding off and followed one of them to richmond where the driver crashed. police arrested them. that car was confirmed to be stolen. police also recovered stolen merchandise inside the car. the investigation is ongoing. governor gavin newsom announced the last batch of bills he's either signed or vetoed one of the bills he vetoed would have allowed undocumented immigrants to apply for unemployment benefits. newsom says it require money that's included in the state budget. it's the second time in a week he's vetoed a bill involving undocumented immigrants. last week he killed a bill that

putting signs up so far more people have now died after getting hit by cars this year compared to 2023. new signs hang along. san francisco's lombard streets working to sites where a pedestrian got hit and killed by a driver. the nonprofit walk says the 2 recent deaths are adding on to an alarming total. we've now had 18 pedestrian deaths in san francisco. a 7 year-old woman was hit by a driver on september. 12th at the intersection of lombard and laguna streets. she has since died from her injuries. then on saturday, a 52 year-old man was hit and killed by a car. >> on lombard and goff streets, my heart broken for. 2 families who just lost loved ones in 2 weeks right here. the sign's caught the eye of ohana magnussen who has lived off of lombard for nearly 30 years sends a message to me that it's not safe to walk around in this neighborhood. magnussen has also been driving for lyft and uber in

the city for a decade. she says she sees a lot of reckless driving. i see people running red lights, least 5 to 6 times a day. >> and it's just a disrespect for human life and has to stop. >> and have you ever seen anyone get pulled over? >> almost never. lombard street is one of the main arteries for drivers to get to and from the golden gate bridge, marta lindsay with walk sf says speeding has become out of control. and number one thing that needs to happen on this street is to come down. and right now it designed in a way that encourages drivers to go way too fast. its speed limits 30 miles an hour. despite being next, a resident, you know, these are residential streets. a bill put forth by state senator scott wiener aims to help make state-owned streets like lombard safer. make shore. >> caltrans is working closely with the city of san francisco on lombard 19th avenue, all of the various state on the roads and francisco to improve

>> well, after the ribbon cutting ceremony, community members gathered at rocketship fuerza elementary school too. listen to the mariachi band and show off some of their traditional outfits in honor of the moment. police arrested a man in coma for stealing merchandise and threatening the manager with a knife. police are sharing details on the arrests that happened about 2 weeks ago. they say it happened on serramonte boulevard near the target and best buy. the man is accused of stealing merchandise worth $10 and $0.83. and with the manager confronted him, police say the man showed a knife threatening to use it. he was arrested. police say he also had drugs on him, possibly math. he was booked into the san mateo jail. happening right now. police are once again looking for this girl. karen escobar, korea. we reported on her about a month ago. she went missing in july was located safely. now from a police have reported her missing again. she's run away from home. it happened last night around 08:00pm. she is described as 5 feet. 4 inches tall around 115 pounds, red

hair, brown eyes about 12 years old. investigators say she was last seen in the area of 3rd street and f street. on to our next story here. hundreds of coliseum workers face an uncertain future. now that the a's are set to leave oakland, the union representing the hospitality workers tells kron 4 no severance pay is being offered and there won't be any health care coverage. workers are accusing era marked their employer at the coliseum of breaking a contract that promised those benefits. the union filed a grievance with the company and hopes to go to arbitration suit. >> we also made a request to air march. said no to expedite the arbitration. the workers wouldn't have to wait a long time. and they also no, it's like they. >> just a just been our thing. >> the oakland a's committed a million dollars to help with the coliseum vendor assistance fund which also supports workers employed by aramark.

the family of an 11 year-old girl filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver involved in a crash that killed her for sara stinson. spoke with the attorney representing the family. >> a walk home from a park turned tragic for a cupertino family. 11 year-old molly qatari was among 4 children walking in the bike lane when investigators say a truck plowed into them on april 27th. >> my he was walking back from a park near her home with her sister and her 2 cousins that were visiting from india and her father and her grandfather were walking with them. just several steps behind. they're legally walking in the bike lane because there wasn't a continuous sidewalk. qatari died at the hospital a couple days later. >> her family has now filed a lawsuit against the driver of the truck. sima bought is the family's attorney. i don't know if i can. overstate the hole that's been. left in the heart. of my he's parents but

says mall, he's younger sister and cousins, ages 8, 7, and 4 suffered serious injuries. she also fears of the emotional damage done to the children. her sister watched. >> older sister die right in front of eyes. so >> all these all the children have suffered the santa clara county sheriff's office identified the driver as 38 year-old adam. she in lieu of cupertino, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. but so far has not been charged with the crime. the family is also suing grandparents who owned the truck involved but says they should not have loaned it to him when he was unfit to drive. according to our investigation. >> he had had at least one dui in the past and he did not have a valid driver's license at the time of this incident, but says they're in the process of filing another lawsuit against the city of cupertino in hopes that it will make this stretch of road

safer for pedestrians and hoping that by this lawsuit we can help effect some change because this should not happen again. i reached out to the city manager of cupertino as well as the santa clara county district attorney to learn about any potential criminal charges. but i did not hear back in time for this report. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in cupertino. kron. 4 news. >> all roads are back open in santa rosa after a hazmat spill. parts of north avenue in all side streets between west night and hewitt streets were blocked off for several hours. that's while crews cleaned up about 300 gallons of liquid. it was a mix of several fluids, including diesel gas, oil and transmission fluid. that liquid off a truck creating spills in several locations, but took about 2 hours to clean. a san francisco city attorney filed a final brief in the u.s. supreme court against the epa hoping to save city residents for what he's describing as massive bill

increases. according to the epa, the city has had a massive sewage water problem. that's so bad that the epa filed a claim against the city claiming 1.8 million gallons of sewage was dumped into surrounding waters. the city attorney appealed the case saying instructions needed to be more clear and affordable for residents. case eventually went to the u.s. supreme court tuesday, according to the brief individual rate payers are expected to pay nearly $9,000 a year for utilities by 2039. what time for the pet palooza at gateway at millbrae station today. this event is free and open to the public with activities such as dog yoga, pet costume contest, food music and so much more. the event runs from 11:00am at rollins road in millbrae. and check this out. this very good boy needs your help winning an award for his work in our community. how he serves children in the bay area and wife. we are all tuesday to vote for him today.

joining us live now is rain. jean, thank you so much for being here with us this morning. thank you for having me. of course. and looking gorgeous and sparkly. sir, tell us a bit about, you know, your experience as queen. so far. big congratulations, of course, that you've been crowned just a few months. now at this point a little over a month. okay. okay. how done. it's been amazing. i've received so much support from. >> people i know and it's amazing because i'm from wisconsin. so being out here, i feel a lot of support from the bay area it over here, which is so amazing. it's great to make connections, especially with my dad and sisters. they're all amazing. people love that. so of course you are studying now at stanford second year. i would suburb cleese, like is this makes us rival. >> tell us a bit about how you got involved with the pageant as a student stanford. >> yes, so i had done one other pageant before this. it's in my hometown of

sheboygan, wisconsin. i did. i was miss like in 2023. all right. and my mom had sent me a link to them. this asian global pageant during the school year. and she's like this is in the bay area. it's perfect on your right there. you could have opportunities to do things and actually debated for a while. but then in the end, i decided to and it was one of the best decisions i've made yet. tell us a bit about what it was like to compete. >> it was so amazing. we spent like a week preparing for the actual day of competition, but just getting to know the girls and bonding with them and having the 6 shared experiences together. was like one of the most amazing experience. you walk us through a particularly memorable moment. oh, there you are. that's not right. looking gorgeous. >> i love the costumes. well, that was my favorite part. the cultural attire segment because like again, i was the only among delegate as well. really cool just to like show

my culture yes, and tell us what it's been like and just how it feels how this moment. >> affects you being the first hmong american to represent decision. global organizations. yeah. when i heard my name called i was like in shock. i just like started walking straight but i really feel like most. >> honored like that is the largest emotion that i have is just like incredibly honored and thankful for my community. >> for my family, my friends and you absolutely are a role model and a trailblazer in a sense is, well, other girls, asian americans. now look up to you. >> yeah, i and that's what i really want really want to encourage, especially among girls to get out to be vocal, to represent our culture. it's just so amazing seeing so many hmong people doing amazing things like sunni leaf area on woman who's a trailblazer. so have you connected with her by chance. know i love sunni if

you're seeing >> well, maybe she is. and you know, for your platform, i think you might be able to reach her and lots of other people as well. a full disclaimer. i also did the decision global in this asian america pageant as well several met of quite a bit of time ago. and it is such a fantastic experience and just the connections that you make are incredible. tell us a bit about your as miss asian global? when i did my social impact on statement. >> i really focused on the wrongful detainment and for super taishan of southeast asian immigrants and i think especially studying asian american studies. the question of abolition and freedom for those detainees. >> and is something that's been on my mind. especially. and i also want to be in the justice system. i want to go to law school. the lawyer be a judge. and so that's like at the forefront of my mind while credible now as particular platform impacted you personally in any way already to be.

>> a particular article, perhaps that resonated with you that led you to want to make this your platform. yeah. well, i've known many family members and family friends who have detained prison systems, but there was patrick particular article that i read in my intro to asian american studies class and it was called hope is contagious. and it was really beautiful. it's about solidarity. and just like spreading hope and love has a way of perseverance to these tough times. oh, yeah, that's a beautiful message to share. walk us through what the most surprising thing was for you about competing in this. and the most surprising thing, honestly is the sisterhood that i do feel because >> all of these women that i was like a side are super intelligent and passionate and just. role models. every

single one of them. and it was just i was really surprised. >> how well? >> i was able to click with some people that i had like, not that before. like just met and is really amazing. it's just it's, you know, a testament to how great of people they are as well. all that's a lovely thing to share. >> would love to get your perspective to just, you know, what is your hope for the future when it comes to? >> being asian american and being asian american, asian american woman in in this country with so much going on in the world right now. it is your yeah. my hope is that. >> we keep bringing attention to issues and the things that we're passionate about, especially asian american women. i feel especially growing up. i've been a very like vocal person like activist circles and things like that. and i feel like the stereotype is often that asian women are very dim. your there, you know it into themselves and not very vocal about things when a lot of

anything about that shooting, please give police a call. and our top story this morning out of redwood city where 2 shootings happen in just one week. kron four's jack moment reports with the latest on the investigation and the search for suspects. >> both of these shootings happening within just days of each other. and also both of these shootings happening right off this section of l camino in redwood city. now i spoke with neighbors and hpbusiness owners who tell me they fear this part of redwood city has become a lot more unsafe in recent years. >> i just heard a lady screaming couple screaming and crying and stuff. but friday night someone shot and killed after what officials tell kron 4 was an argument that turned into a fight in the parking lot of a talker. ria just brown lives behind the parking lot and says fights and crimes are increasing. so think there's a lot of that element going on across the street there. police didn't offer many details about this particular shooting. we tried to speak to the about what they witness, but they were

just to shake it up. they told us everyone in the restaurant scattered when shots rang out. i would like for it to to to to stop. that's the scene after the shooting is still fresh. redwood city police giving this talker it behind me. these evidence bags in case there are any traces of those bullets that were flying on friday evening. still present here in this parking lot. very sad, very disappointing. and i know that lots of people win. >> these kind of incidents happen are just, you know, actually worried councilmember for district 4 elmer martinez. the bio says this shooting comes just 2 days after another shooting of jackson street where someone was left in critical condition. part of it is that gun violence is, you know, playing not just in our community, but across the country. right. and i think last incident was a tragic example of that. according to the department of justice, when you compare 2023 to pre-pandemic levels, violent crime redwood city doubled. councilmember sub ios says his district is full of latino

this month, 3 dogs have been confirmed to be killed by coyotes. >> at crissy field and dog attacks have been reported weekly. you know, all of a sudden they're being really, really bold there, too comfortable with people because people have been feeding them. martha walters is the chair of the crissy field dog group. she says in the last 5 months there's been a major spike in coyote attacks. i've seen 2 attacks at crissy field. i've talked to east 100 people since late april. i've spoken to probable it. >> about 3 or 4 people have had to have lost their talks. the coyotes in the presidio too. and so it's it's something that is very traumatizing. but walter says there should be a public database where you can see real-time reporting of these incidents. the longtime group is now calling on the golden gate national recreation area. >> and the presidio trust to be more transparent. we would like to see your data of coyote incidents and sightings

and they won't give it to us. so we finally had to file a freedom of information act by a public record to get documents to see because i'm a data person. let's look at the data. the golden gate, national recreation area tells kron 4 that each of the deaths this month involved off-leash dogs. the agency has posted signs in the area to warn people and offer safety tips advising dog owners to report coyote encounters to park dispatch and to walk dogs on a leash. dog owners at crissy field say they see coyotes often and many have experienced encounters. he has chased one-off least before. so. >> it's happened. we're a lot more careful now when i know was kind a tease. i called my dog back and i got really big i thought about scaring away. bears is what i found in my head. its giveaway right away. >> park officials tell us they will be monitoring the area over the next several days to haze coyotes, which is a tactic to scare off. the coyote is in deter them from

recent deaths are adding on to an alarming total. we've now had 18 pedestrian deaths in san francisco. a 7 year-old woman was hit by a driver on september. 12th at the intersection of lombard and laguna streets. she has since died from her injuries. then on saturday, a 52 year-old man was hit and killed by a car. >> on lombard and goff streets, my heart broken for. 2 families who just lost loved ones in 2 weeks right here. the sign's caught the eye of ohana magnussen who has lived off of lombard for nearly 30 years sends a message to me that it's not safe to walk around in this neighborhood. magnussen has also been driving for lyft and uber in the city for a decade. she says she sees a lot of reckless driving. i see people running red lights, least 5 to 6 times a day. >> and it's just a disrespect for human life and has to stop. >> and have you ever seen anyone get pulled over? >> almost never. lombard street is one of the main arteries for drivers to get to

and from the golden gate bridge lindsay with walk sf says speeding has become out of control. and number one thing that needs to happen on this street is speaks in to come down. and right now it designed in a way that encourages drivers to go way too fast. its speed limits 30 miles an hour. despite being next, a resident, you know, these are residential streets. a bill put forth by state senator scott wiener aims to help make state-owned streets like lombard safer. make shore. >> caltrans is working closely with the city of san francisco on lombard 19th avenue, all of the various state on the roads and francisco to improve safety. a lot of art is a very fast street. this is senator wiener second time putting forth a bill like this. the last one got vetoed by the governor. >> but he's hopeful this one will get signed. the governor has until september 30th to sign or veto bills. i'm sara stinson reporting back to you.

happened on serramonte boulevard near the target best buy. the man is accused of stealing about $10 worth of merchandise when the manager confronted the man. police say that's when the man showed a knife threatening to use it. police also say the man had drugs on him, possibly math. he was arrested and booked into the san mateo j. happening right now. police are once again looking for this young woman, karen escobar, korea. she first went missing in july but was located safely about a week ago. now from a police say she's run away from home. it happened last night around 08:00pm. she is described as being around 12 years old, 5 feet, 4 inches tall around 115 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. she was last seen in the area of 3rd street and f street. hundreds of workers face an uncertain future. now that the a's are set to leave oakland, the union representing the hospitality workers tells kron 4 no severance pay is being offered. there won't be any health care coverage. workers are accusing era marked their

employer at the coliseum breaking a contract that promised these benefits. the union filed a grievance with the company and hopes to go to arbitration soon. >> we also made a request to air march. said no to expedite the arbitration. the workers wouldn't have to wait a long time. and they also no, it's like they. just just been our thing. >> the oakland a's committed a million dollars to help with the coliseum vendor assistance fund which also supports workers employed by aramark. the family of an 11 year-old girl filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver involved in a crash that killed her for sara stinson spoke with the attorney representing the family. >> a walk home from a park turned tragic for a cupertino family. 11 year-old molly qatari was among 4 children walking in the bike lane when investigators say a truck plowed into them on april 27th. >> my he was walking back from a park near her home with. her

cupertino, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. but so far has not been charged with the crime. the family is also suing grandparents who owned the truck involved but says they should not have loaned it to him when he was unfit to drive. according to our investigation. >> he had had at least one dui in the past and he did not have a valid driver's license at the time of this incident, but says they're in the process of filing another lawsuit against the city of cupertino in hopes that it will make this stretch of road safer for pedestrians and hoping that by this lawsuit we can help effect some change because this should not happen again. i reached out to the city manager of cupertino as well as the santa clara county district attorney to learn about any potential criminal charges. but i did not hear back in time for this report. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in cupertino. kron. 4 news. >> all roads are back open in santa rosa after a hazmat spill. parts of north dunn

avenue and all side streets between west 9th and hewitt streets were blocked off for several hours. that's what crews clean up above 300 gallons of a mix of several fluids, including diesel gas, oil and transmission fluid. the liquid fell off a truck creating spills in several locations. took about 2 hours to clean. the san francisco city attorney filed a final brief and the u.s. supreme court against the epa hoping to save city residents from what he's calling massive bill increases. according to the epa, the city has had a massive sewage water problem. so bad. the agency filed a complaint against the city claiming 1.8 million gallons of sewage was dumped into surrounding waters. the city attorney appealed the case saying instructions needed to be more clear and affordable for residents. the case eventually went to the u.s. supreme court tuesday, according to the brief individual rate payers are expected to pay nearly $9,000 a year for utilities by 2039.

one of the best decisions i've made yet. tell us a bit about what it was like to compete. >> oh, it was so amazing. we spent like a week preparing for the actual day of competition, but just getting to know the girls and bonding with them and having to 6 shared experiences together. was like one of the most amazing experience. you walk us through a particularly memorable moment. oh, there you are. that's not right. looking i look at the costumes. well, that was my favorite part, the cultural attire segment because like again, i was the only among delegate as well as really cool just to like show my culture yes and tell us what it's been like and just how it feels how this moment. >> affects you being the first american to represent decision. global organizations. yeah. when i heard my name called i was like in shock. i just like started walking straight but i really feel like most. >> honored like that is the

largest emotion that i have is just like incredibly honored and thankful for my community. >> for my family, my friends and you absolutely are a role model and a trailblazer in a sense as well. other girls, asian americans now look up to you. >> yeah, i and that's what i really really want to encourage, especially among girls to get out to be vocal to represent our culture. it's just so amazing. seeing so many hmong people doing amazing things like sunni leaf area on woman who's a trailblazer. so have you connected with her by chance? know, love was sunni. if you're seeing >> well, maybe she is. and you know, for your platform, i think you might be able to reach her and lots of other people as well. full disclaimer. i also did the global in this asian america pageant as well several met before quite a bit of time ago. and it is such a fantastic experience and just the connections that you make are incredible. tell us a bit

about your as miss asian global? when i did my social impact on statement. >> i really focused on the wrongful detainment and for super patient of southeast asian immigrants and i think especially studying asian american studies. the question of abolition and freedom for those detainees. >> is something that's been on my mind. especially. and i also want to be in the justice system. i want to go to law school. the lawyer be a judge. and so that's like at the forefront of my mind while credible now, as particular platform impacted you personally in any way or did you read? >> a particular article, perhaps that resonated with you that led you to want to make this your platform. yeah. well, known many family members and family friends who have detained and prison systems, but there was patrick particular article that i read in my intro to asian american studies class and it was called hope is contagious. and

it was really beautiful. it's about solidarity and just like spreading hope and love has a way perseverance to these tough times. yeah, that's a beautiful message to share. walk us through what the most surprising thing was for you about competing in this. >> and the most surprising thing, honestly is the sisterhood that i do feel because all of these women that i was like the side are super intelligent and passionate and just. role models. every single one of them. and it was just i was really surprised. >> how well? >> i was able to click with some people that i had like not met before, like just met and is really amazing. it's just it's, you know, a testament to how great people they are as well. all that's a lovely thing to share. >> would love to get your perspective to just, you know,

what is your hope for the future when it comes to? >> being asian american and being asian american, asian american woman in this country with so much going on in the world right now. it is your yeah. my hope is that. >> we keep bringing attention to issues and the things that we're passionate about, especially asian american women. i feel especially growing up. i've been a very like vocal person like activist circles and things like that. and i feel like the stereotype is often that asian women are very dim. your thereyou note into themselves and not very vocal about things a lot of issues affect them. and so i really want young asian american to continue to use our voices and speak out get platforms and use them for good. all right. we look forward to seeing the big impact are going to continue to make in the community. >> thank you so much to the very first hmong american woman to be crowned miss asian
