homes as a wildfire continues to grow. we speak with neighbors searching for safety. plus, you got to say this. this video of a man breaking into a south bay home and walking off of the safe. ut police say it was able to get away. and today, cyclists from across the country will be in the bay area. what you need to know about northern california's 2024 special. >> it said. >> good morning and thank you for joining us here on kron. 4 morning news. i'm theresa stasi. you in for stefanie land. let's get a start of your weekend day on this saturday with dave spahr, the weather center without the very latest for us is going to be hot stuff. got to be hot all weekend long and looks like it. >> are good morning? everybody. hot is going to remain the case across the bay area. effective extended some of the statements we've been talking about all week long for the entire weekend. for

the most part. first things first, the sunshine that's coming out. let's go and check that out of the east bay shoreline. there you have it coming in for the berkeley hills, the east bay shoreline, all peeled away from the fog that we had from earlier just a little bit here now, the statements we've talked a lot about, they're they're in place. however, they were supposed to expire tonight. they've extended that now through sunday except for san francisco. that's only spot that looks to be opening up a little bit. san francisco for tomorrow tend to be won't be enough, but will be plenty hot. also early this morning, we still have a red flag warning for those higher elevations. santa cruz mountains, east bay hills. also a little bit down to the south bay. you can see this is extending all the way until 09:00am with other red flag warning. and that gives me to the winds. now we do have them currently, as you can see, not doing too much. however, there are expected to remain a little bit on the offshore direction over the a few hours, there was supposed to shift a little bit on shore, but we're not getting that. most of the readings in the

60's, some 50's, which is a very nice treat, except that's not going to last as we schrock it through the 60's and 70's this morning, the quick contrast for years, you can see it bouncing around. we end up this morning. a couple degrees for the numbers were even in some cases, a half-dozen degrees ahead. so hour by hour forecast, we rocket out of the 60's through the 70's and we'll be getting into the 80's by 10:00am and beyond. more on that hot forecast coming up in a bit. theresa loud, thank you, dave. >> evacuation orders are in place for 4,000 residents. lake county as the fire continues to grow their the glen haven fire is threatening more than 2000 structures in the clear lake area many of those families who evacuated took shelter about it. our south of twin pine casino and hotel kron four's jacked moment. was there any spoke to first responders and families who don't know famil home to return to? >> the glen haven fire is not as large as other fires we've seen in northern california so far this year. but its

location is what makes it particularly dangerous. one bad turn of the wind could send it into hundreds of homes which has dozens people here at this relocation, shelter, wondering if they'll be able to go home. >> i'm feeling apprehensive. do. i go home. they cut the power off within 10 minutes when it first started. when home to. does anybody know kate johnson, her husband and their dogs evacuated early friday and made it to a friend's house. but then >> we're trapped again. evacuating a second time avoiding a fast-moving fire burning hundreds of acres. her family captured these photos showing black smoke billowing over the hills armageddon. i just don't want to cry right now. johnson's shocked and says this is the first wildfire she's seen since moving to northern california. and to me terrorizing. the fire is confirmed to have taken at least 2 homes. and johnson says she saw it all go

down. >> from where we stood, we were watching homes catch on fire at the red cross station fire at the red cross station at twin pine casino hotel were seeking help. >> ron reynolds who is leading the charge with the red cross says the fire started just across the street from his home. we literally looked across the road there where the flames. he's also working with a slim crew, hoping the threat to homes and families. >> gets under control, october's probably lake county's roughest months. that's what we have. the biggest fires, the temperatures. the wind issues. also red cross is is really stretched. >> because we also have the hurricanes back on the east coast. already some of those evacuation order areas being downgraded to evacuation warnings, but still. >> we have several families here waiting at this reunification, shelter, wondering if they will have a home to return to in the first place reporting here in lake jack molmud kron. 4 news. >> our reporter jack molmud also found this little dog at the evacuation center. cal

fire crews brought her here after rescuing her from the fire zone. they are still waiting for her owner to come claimer. >> in the meantime, her temporary care takers nicknamed her glenda, the good witch from the wizard of oz. >> well, devastation at a senior home to buildings went up in flames thursday night and petaluma just hours apart from each other. refihters say. but the first fire was at the senior care cent at 11, 15 be street. officials believe that the fire at the senior care center was caused by electrical issue. they say that the extent of the damage is still under investigation, but no one fortunately was injured in the fire. the second fire was reported at a movie theater on c street left all of this water mass. investigators say that sprinklers activated because of the electrical fire. fire crews had to turn off the sprinklers to remove the bulk of the water until the facility maintenance was able to take over. contra costa

county, alameda and santa clara counties are now under a red-flag warning kron four's rob nesbit reports. >> here at station, 25 in castro valley. they have the red flag raised on the flagpole behind me. it's been hot all week, but a number of factors triggered the warning from the national weather service. the crew of 30 plus firefighters with the alameda county fire department are on high alert. friday battalion chief kept carla and talk with me about the factors that cause a red flag warning in the east temperature. anything above 75 degrees. >> humidity. anything below. 25%. >> and then when we don't have the wind today, we do have a nice breeze. the wind is factor that the other factors were enough to trigger. would flag warning for this area. >> driving around the east bay, it's clear from the golden brown fields just how dry conditions are battalion. chief carlin says that we've gone so long without rain that the grass is dry enough to go up in flames within an hour of getting wet, sicker fuels trees and brush.

>> take a little longer to cure being that we haven't had played 41 days are going go right now. and historically we've had some of our largest fires in october. carlin says one of his firefighters is back on the job friday for the first time since being injured in the corral fire for months ago. >> no calls for wildfires in the east bay as of midday friday. but karla is paying attention to an active fire in lake county and case cal fire put out the call for help. >> spark or any member has a 90% chance of taking off. so with that, you don't want to start iraq's with him keep your motorized equipment out of the dry brush. you have to plan the suns ahead of time. you can't start. conditions are already here. the red flag warning from the national weather service is in effect until 09:00am saturday. >> reporting in castro valley. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> happening now, the alameda county sheriff's office is searching for a man who they say has been missing since wednesday. you can see him right there on the screen. its name is theodore oliver. he was reported missing by his

family who are deeply concerned about his safety. the alameda county sheriff's office police said he may be injured. oliver is described as being 5 foot 10 with long black dreadlocks and brown hair and brown eyes. he has a tattoo of a panther on his left arm. if you see him, please contact police. a suspect in the shooting that killed 2 people last month in napa has died from his injuries. police say that about to start her as have been in custody at a hospital after shooting himself in the day of the incident. the shooting happened on the morning of september. 26 lincoln about a mile from napa high school. now officers found her unit, georgina padilla and ralph and dino the 3rd dead. police have not said what led to the shootings. take a look at this theft. caught in a video taking out a safe from a home in santa say

the family whose lives here says this all happened last weekend. the burglar broke into the home through a sliding glass door and rummaged through the master bedroom ceiling, jewelry, cash and important documents as well as a safe containing even more valuables. the family says that they have lived in the area for more than a decade without any problems. now, they are worried for their safety. >> it's annoying than don't feel safe here. have to safe in the neighborhood and that is mourning. but and and this is not safe. i mean, this is not keep sent them to. that's what i really liked. >> while the family says between 50 to $60,000 worth of items were taken from them, their neighborhood group is now planning to come together to address safety on their street. santa fe, police say that they are currently investigating. well, cyclists will bridge bike the bridges this weekend for special olympics. northern california.

today marks the 15th year of the event. more than 1000 people are signed up to participate in the ride which features 25 to 100 mile routes throughout all start and end at waterfront park in martinez, cyclists will go cross. the quirkiness of benicia bridge is. and some special olympic athlete will be participating as well. >> that is 100% for our athletes. we have over 26,000 athletes in our footprint here in northern california that we serve every events like the bike. the bridges allows us to be able to offer our programs completely free of cost to our athletes. so every time that they want to do a competition and they need uniforms, they need traveling. we're there to support that. >> due to the heat, most cyclists are opting to start early and there will be water stations and rest stops along the way back the park. there will be live music and free beer for riders. if you wish

crowded, though, as we look at numbers very elevated here to know you do sometimes get a little pop from some offshore winds coming in the half. moon bay, we have a little bit of that going on for today. and that will add a little extra boost. those temperatures, satellite picture, not much going on. we want to consult this later as we start to drift into the wet season. but those temperatures. not bad now, but they will get that way lower 60's on the east bay shoreline. that's a gift up north. we have some 70's cracking open like sonoma. at 75 already. napa. 59 fairfield at 60 at this hour. so this is we're looking at hot weekend with 100 plus expected inland. meanwhile, heat advisory and warning through the weekend talking expire tonight except san francisco. but it was supposed to expire through much of the bay area. but it looks like this is going to hold for sunday as well. red flag warning for the higher elevations this morning. as you heard, that's until 09:00am today. and then that expires even though you will see this. there is still that although it's week, thank goodness offshore winds with us through today. temps relax a little bit next week. lower

80's by week's end. that's inland. that looks pretty good. now. interesting to look at futurecast. yeah, that's interesting for tonight. don't put too much stock in it. it's just seeing aloft potentially some condensation happening way up there in has a lot of dry air to fight through. so don't expect anything to hit the ground even in the higher elevations. we do get some scattered clouds getting into monday. usual notice. but again, don't expect anything coming from them. their clouds, wind gusts. there you is the arrows indicate that's what the concern is right across the carquinez strait. the golden gate going the other direction, which tends to provide a little bit of warmth. that's good to have a little breeze. but you wonder from the other direction, obviously bringing in the marine layer. so there are no extension of these red flag warning surprisingly, but that's good. and there we have a return to the more traditional northwest in westerly wind pattern. but no major pops with the winds, though, in either direction highs. today. we're expecting a lot of 80's, but more

importantly, upper 90's, even for the east bay shoreline. you get away from the golden gate influence and to the south. those numbers start popping. plus is also going over the hills little bit, too, coming from the other direction, provides a little bit of extra heating. and looking ahead today, we got that patchy morning fog just about gone hot, offshore winds tomorrow, sunny and hot. 100 plus, still with us. that's tomorrow. and next week, hot on monday. some relief by midweek. 3 days out word. can we see some relief developing? a double digits. 96 expected by monday is remain hot for the next several days. but relief by late next week. can we just fast forward to next? i wish we could, but we can. it's just a certain time takes to get there final. >> thank you, check. the cats are on the prowl. the east bay as kron four's philippe djegal reports nearly a half-a-dozen mountain lion sightings have been reported in the city of antioch in the past month. >> neighborhoods, on city streets, behind fences in backyards and in the hills, near homes and open space

mountain lion sightings in antioch, spread-out city. why soviet the police come around that. >> i was kind of confused because they didn't seem seem you know, have anybody in custody. there is no vehicle. ricky ferrer describes wednesday night when antioch police responded to a neighbor's call reporting a prowler in for heirs backyard on william reid drive. and when officers put a drone up in the air, images of the prowler revealed a young mountain lion. i was surprised. you know, they feel like this is pretty deep into the city of antioch. i would be surprised to hear of another one. did not hear >> you know, it's everyone's might happen again. fortunately, none of the sightings have resulted in any physical encounters with injuries. >> or even worse, some of the sightings that we've been having our during the day, some of them being at night as well, antioch, animal control services or the landers says 5 sightings have been reported since september 8th. she says there are at least 2 big young cats in the area. >> a lander believes

morning, theresa. good morning, everybody. and we're talking about those temperatures inland. still striking 100 or maybe in some cases a little bit beyond. first things first, it's almost kind of sultry looking as we see the flag not doing a whole heck of a lot at this hour. we do have some winds to make note of, though they are a little bit on the offshore direction a bit. but as you can see here, look at the bay bridge, not much happening there. so with this sultry weather, the heat advisories and all those statements, they don't expire 11 o'clock. tonight, they expire at 11 o'clock tomorrow night. so the with u.s. all weekend long, technically san francisco is not going to be in this tomorrow, but it's still going to be plenty hot anyway. so also coupled with this, this is only for the next hour and a half technically, but we should mention with these offshore winds, this is still a bit of a problem everywhere. but red flag warning for those higher elevations in the east bay in this santa cruz mountains again, that's for an hour and a half as a formality here. our wind which well, they're calm, but they have been coming from the offshore direction and they will. it looks like through much of the

walking before a man runs toward her and then rips are crossbody purse off of her. the woman's family says that she suffered bruises on her arms and was extremely upset about what happened. the percent cash and other items inside. >> it's just shocking that what happened one of us is, you know, we've never really expected it. we never had any relatives that experience that the closest thing i had was friends, homes getting broken into. but nothing of this magnitude of violence. >> area police have warned about a crime trend called bank jakeem. it's where criminals target people leaving banks or atm's with large amounts of cash. police say that you should be aware and avoid being distracted on your phone or wearing ear buds leaving atm. and mateo county guilty. that was a verdict for a man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend. 45 year-old jose martinez stabbed

41 old. he's sending him a hernandez several times at her apartment in redwood city last july. he also stabbed her daughter according to a gofundme page, set up in her honor, hernandez daughter trying to defend her mother. martina stabbed the girl in the chest. authorities say the martina son went into a bedroom, apologized to his five-year-old son and left martinez was found covered in blood walking near the scene. hernandez had active restraining order against martinez for prior domestic violence. prosecutors say that she had plans to move away with their martinez says set to be sentenced in december. scammers have found another way to rip off tourists visiting san francisco kron four's dan kerman tells us how they are being tricked into giving money to criminals. >> parking around san francisco's fisherman's wharf. he's always had its challenges. and even if you do find a space figuring out how

to operate, the parking meter can be difficult now to make matters worse. scammers have been tampering with these type of meters. specifically. they've been putting phony qr codes like this on them. if you scan the code you can pay. but the money will be going to the city of san francisco. it will go to those behind the scam. really not surprised. there's always some opportunities trying to take advantage of people, >> it's like buyer beware. but, you know, just keep people with incomes in the those visiting the wharf as well as those who work down here are the least bit surprised through with the technology we have nowadays. it is. >> it's pretty most likely that people are going to start trying to do different things like that. it is kind of scary. now you can't really trust everything. you see these funny qr codes were discovered at 5 of these meters around fisherman's wharf on thursday. officials with the san francisco mta say they don't know how many people were scammed, but they say the link has now been

deactivated. so the bottom line is this what ever meet or you go to in san francisco? remember this? not a single one of them uses a qr code to pay. so if you see one with a qr code. >> don't use it. in san francisco. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> we're learning more about a bomb threat that led to thursday night's lockdown at the oakland arena, keeping hundreds of people stuck outside for hours. police say that the threat came in around 7 thursday night. this halted traffic at the arena on 8.80, has tons of people were trying to get to the zimmer concert. the oakland arena posted updates on social media and they started letting carson attendees into the venue around 10, 2 hours after the concert was supposed to start. and this morning, we now know the name of a man shot and killed in daly city last week. in daly city. police say that 60 year-old. >> rolando young was killed on

south mayfair avenue. this is a picture of him surrounded by his family, celebrating a birthday. a mother and son are now in jail for allegedly killing him. they face first-degree murder charges. officers say the youngest son previously worked for the broad more police department. if you'd like to help the family financially, we have a link to their gofundme at kron 4 dot com. in the east bay. police are looking for a group of people who used a sledgehammer to rob a jewelry store. this happened thursday afternoon nearain d mount diablo boulevard. according to police4 suects broke into a display case and stole purses and jewelry. they say that one employee was heard from the broken glass. anyone with information is said to please call police. 4 is your local election headquarters with the countdown to election day. coming to a close california's attorney general and secretary of state are working to make sure that voters know their rights when

it comes time to cast a ballot. >> it is an election deadline instead of an election day because in california, you have many, many days before november 5th to cast your vote. and that's one of the things i want to talk about today. in fact, it is your right as california to vote early as a california voter to vote early and to cast your vote in the means that works best for you. >> to find exact information about where and when you can vote head over to the secretary of state's website. that s o s dot ca dot gov. slash elections. well, governor newsom has announced new state funding, he says will help address the issue of encampments. our capitol correspondent eytan waltz gives us a closer look. >> are demanding results. tab was governor gavin newsom's messages he announced the state is granting a combined 130.7 million dollars to local governments across the state

specifically to address the issue of encampment. we need to democratized our streets and doing a compassionate way values intact support the people that are out there, the underlying causes. but we need to take back the streets. the governor has a warning what are called encampment resolution grant studies 18 local city and county governments across the state from as far south as carlsbad to as far north of san francisco and cities and counties in between, including by salia and san bernardino newsom says the local governments receiving the funding must adhere to all state housing and homeless laws or risk losing the funding local government. if you play by the rules that are established, we want to provide care. it's not just sticks, but or unwilling to play by the rules, we're not going to provide new funds and we will call back funds or no longer interested in funding via the city, receiving the largest share of the funding sacramento, the governor awarded 18.2 million dollars to the capital city.

sacramento mayor darrell steinberg reacting to the news. very good day for the city and we tend use these resources. so how will the money be spent? >> well, steinberg says a portion of the funding will go toward a program to help people transition out of encampments like this one in north sacramento. >> into subsidized housing, a larger chunk of the funding will go toward doubling the size of this tiny home facility in north sacramento. >> by adding at least another 100 tiny homes were insisting that we have a cleaner and safer city. and we help as many people as possible. by continuing to seek more resources to be able to bring more people in with the services they need. still, republican state lawmakers say they're skeptical pointing to a state audit earlier this year that found the state spent more than 20 billion dollars on homeless programs but failed to adequately track the results of that spending. >> i tend to has tape when i hear another 131 million

the one step closer to freedom. the brothers are seeking to have their sentences reevaluated based on some new evidence. karen wynter reports. >> was it was one of los angeles's, most high-profile murder cases, the killing of katie and jose menendez and their beverly hills mansion back in august of 1989, the convicted killers, their sons, lyle and erik menendez, who after decades behind bars could soon have a shot at freedom. we have a moral. >> coming in to quell obligation. to review what is being percent. it was the la county district attorney's office announcing on thursday with newly discovered evidence surfacing on allegations of abuse by their father that drove the brothers to kill. officials are now taking another look at this case to determine if the brother should be released from prison. one possibility what is being alleged by his lawyers not buy a house. that there was evidence it had that evans meant percent the jury.

the outcome of this case would have been different. the menendez brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1996. they've been behind bars for nearly 35 years with several failed appeal attempts. the brothers legal team had requested a retrial asserting that there was newly discovered evidence supporting their alleged claims of abuse. a member of the boy band minuto alleges jose molested him as a kid. but jose was an executive with rca records and it's signed the band to a music deal. the menendez attorneys also cited other new evidence including a letter eric road to a cousin detailing his dad's alleged abuse just months before the murders, the la county da's office had been investigating the claims submitted in the petition. the brothers first trial ended in a mistrial. the second trial, a conviction with their defense team saying the judge blocked most of the evidence of the alleged abuse and manslaughter wasn't an option which would have meant a shorter sentence with an early release. brothers attorney mark geragos says they've been model prisoners behind bars, counseling fellow

>> let's start right now with a look at the weather with james spar. hi, dave. >> good morning. good morning, everybody. and >> this is stuff there. we go about this for live cam. no wins. that's one of the things on to point out here. we will get a little bit of a breeze cooking here, but it will be a bit offshore. not too much. it's going to be causing much of the weight issues, but it doesn't help us cool off much. obviously. and we need a good onshore. wind will help kind of mix things out. so with everything we have here, we have an excessive heat warning going on where you see those up dark reds kind of cooking there. again, the oranges are the heat advisory. san francisco is actually in that warning zone that that's for today at 11 o'clock. tonight, it gets reset and have the continuation of most of these advisories and excessive heat warnings for rest of the bay for the rest of the weekend. so this is with us just about all weekend long for about the next hour or so as a formality because of some of the dry air in place in higher elevations, santa cruz mountains, you got the red flag warning. now that

expires at 09:00am today. but still with the dry definitely want to watch out there with all of that. now the winds not one much now at this hour. but as you can see there, little hodgepodge and direction, they will be favoring the offshore direction while they tend to favor on shore under general conditions that sir, not happening today. so therefore temperatures are getting spike the bit 60's cover the east bay shoreline. we're seeing that inland as well. a little bit cooler in the east bay and tri valley. that will be corrected probably next hour. meanwhile, up north, a mixture of 50's and some 60's. our te perature change from 24 hours ago. well, we are ahead this morning in some cases by a half-dozen degrees or better to key up north notice. so hour by hour, we go sailing through the 70's and skyrocket through the 80's. look at that from 10 to 11 o'clock. we almost a decade we build. so give you an idea how fast things are rising. what you do with dry air of a more on this hot weekend. this first weekend of october. coming up in just a bit, theresa. >> back, you ation orders are in place for 4,000 residents

in lake county as the fire continues to grow. the glen haven fire is threatening more than 2000 structures in the clear lake area. many of those families who evacuated to shelter about an hour south of twin pike casino and hotel conference track moment. was there any spoke to first responders and families who don't know if they will have a home to return to. >> the glen haven fire is not as large as other fires we've seen in northern california so far this year. but its location is what makes it particularly dangerous. one bad turn of the wind could send it into hundreds of homes which has dozens people here at this relocation, shelter, wondering if they'll be able to go home. >> i'm feeling apprehensive. do. i go home. they cut the power off within 10 minutes when it first started. when got to go home to. does anybody know kate johnson, her husband and their dogs evacuated early friday and made it to a friend's house. but then >> we're trapped again,

evacuating a second time avoiding a fast-moving fire burning hundreds of acres. her family captured these photos showing black smoke billowing over the hills armageddon. i just don't want to cry right now. johnson's shocked and says this is the first wildfire she's seen since moving to northern california. and to me terrorizing. the fire is confirmed to have taken at least 2 homes. and johnson says she saw it all go down. >> from where we stood, we were watching homes catch on fire at the red cross station at twin pine casino hotel friday night. about 30 people were seeking help. >> ron reynolds who is leading the charge with the red cross says the fire started just across the street from his home. we literally looked across the road. there were the flames. he's also working with a slim crew, hoping the threat to homes and families. >> gets under control. october's probably lake county's roughest months. that's what we have. the biggest fires, the

temperatures. the wind issues. also red cross is is really stretched because we also have the hurricanes back on the east coast. already some of those evacuation. >> order areas being downgraded to evacuation warnings, but still, we have several families here waiting at this reunification, shelter, wondering if they will have a home to return to in the first place reporting here in lake jack molmud kron. 4 news. >> and our reporter jack moment also found this little dog at the evacuation center. cal fire crews brought her here after rescuing her from the fire zone. they are still waiting for her owner to come. claim are in the meantime, her temporary care takers nicknamed her glenda, the good witch from the wizard of oz. the devastation at a fire at senior home to buildings went up in flames thursday night in petaluma just hours apart from each other. >> firefighters say that the first fire was at t senior care center. that's at 11, 15, the street officials believe

that the fire at the senior care center was caused by an electrical issue. they say that the extent of the damage is still under investigation, but no one fortunately was injured in the fire. now, the second fire was reported at a movie theater on c street and left all of this water mass. investigators say sprinklers activated because of an electrical fire. now fire crews had to turn off the sprinklers are removed. the bulk of the water until facility maintenance was able to take over. contra costa, alameda and santa clara counties are under a red flag warning kron four's. rob nesbit reports for us. >> here at station, twenty-five in castro valley. they have the red flag raised on the flagpole behind me. it's been hot all week, but a number of factors triggered the warning from the national weather service. the crew of 30 plus firefighters with the alameda county fire department are on high alert. friday battalion chief kept carla and talk with me about the factors that cause a red flag warning in the east temperature.

start iraq's with him keep your motorized equipment out of the dry brush. you have to plan the suns ahead of time. you can't start. conditions are already here. the red flag warning from the national weather service is in effect until 09:00am saturday. >> reporting in castro valley. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> happening now, the alameda county sheriff's office is searching for a man that man right there who has been missing since wednesday. you can see him on the screen. his name is theodore oliver. he was reported missing by his family who are deeply concerned about safety alameda county sheriff's office believes that he may be injured. oliver is described as being 5 foot 10 with long black dreadlocks and brown eyes. he also has a tattoo of a panther on his left arm. if you see him, please call police. the suspect in the shooting that killed 2 people last month in napa has died from his injuries. police say that about a star perez had been in custody at the hospital after shooting himself on the day of the

incident. the shooting happened on the morning of september. 26, they're on lincoln avenue about a mile from napa high school. officers found hoarding up idea and routh and dino the 3rd police have not said what the motive was in the shooting. >> take a look at this. a thief caught on camera taking out a safe from a home in san jose. the family who lives here says that this happened this past weekend. the burglar broke into the home through a sliding glass door. romans rummaged through the master bedroom, stehlin, jewelry, cash and important documents. >> as well as a safe containing even more valuable as the family says that they lived on in the area for more than a decade without any problems. now, they are worried for their safety. >> it's annoying than don't feel safe here. you have to safe in the neighborhood and that is mourning. but and and this is not safe. i mean, this

joining us live right now to share more is a choreographer lori florentine and artistic director debra van, thank you for joining us. thank you. let's kind of unpack this a little bit for some people who don't know anything about the dance theater. and so for tell me a little bit about the historical roots of it and why it's so important. >> for me, it's a very important because you as a patient's like i was born in ways and then when i come here, i heard about you mention and it's a big, big dance company and i say yes. it's really good to be like a. how can i say that to be like missing from the

that everyone deserves. and i think that is has been a really important part of people's resilience. tuning into their culture. and so i chose haitian culture because there's a parallel between what has happened in haiti. what is still happening in haiti was happening in the u.s.. but like this could be applied globally. if people can tap into their culture and look at how cultures have survive and what they have used in terms like their comeback regaining joy. i think that it's essential for life and even though with the world is going through, sometimes we don't have any control of it, but we do have control of terms of what we choose and then what we choose. we can offer to the rest of the to the rest of where our communities, our neighborhoods, the world. and like, i think that that contributes to change. tell me

wearing some air bud swim leaving an 18 atm. and some of county guilty. that was a verdict for a man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend. 45 year-old jose martinez stabbed. 41 year-old. it's sending out hernandez several times at her apartment. redwood city last july. he also stabbed daughter according to a gofundme page, set up in her honor, hernandez's daughter trying to defend her mother, but martina stabbed the girl in the chest. authorities say that martinez then went into a bedroom, apologize to his 5 year-old son and left martinez was found covered in blood walking near the scene. hernandez had an active restraining order against him for prior domestic violence. prosecutors say that she had had plans to move away with their son. martinez is set to be sentenced in december. scammers have found another way to rip off tourists visiting san

>> are demanding results. tab was governor gavin newsom's messages he announced the state is granting a combined 130.7 million dollars to local governments across the state specifically to address the issue of encampment. we need to be democratized our streets and doing a compassionate way values intact support the people that are out there, the underlying causes. but we need to take back the streets. the governor has a warning what are called encampment resolution grant studies 18 local city and county governments across the state from as far south as carlsbad to as far north of san francisco and cities and counties in between, including by salia and san bernardino newsom says the local governments receiving the funding must adhere to all state housing and homeless laws or risk losing the funding local government. if you play by the rules are established, we want to provide care. it's not just sticks, but if are unwilling to play by the rules, we're not going to provide new funds and we will call back funds

love you all and you join us. so you have a very rich history of flying. check this out. this guy started to fly when you were how 12 years old, 12 at possible. >> my grandfather got me a ride in a glider and hawaii and i fell in love with it. i group down by miramar where top gun was and all my friends, dads were fighter pilots. so i go all the homecomings and all the air shows have always loved airplanes. and then finally, when i was able to fly to my grandfather, got me right. and since then, i've been hooked, understandably so. >> so tell me a little bit more about what you are involved with when it comes to fleet week. it's kind of a unique niche that you have. >> so i've been in the i lived in the city for 22 years in fleet week is the best we can around here. the weather's great. everybody comes out. the whole community gets involved. it's a great opportunity for all the coast guard in the fire department police resources to test their

emergency response. and of course, the blue angels come so i have been flying in fleet week nelson last year for started fining fleet week. but i've been involved with the patriots jet team since 2010 and the patriots fly every year where an all volunteer organization based out of the east bay. and we have 2 former thunderbirds, a former blue angel, all the people that come together for the passion of flight and we love flying fleet week. one of our pilots as a united airlines pilot united to huge sponsor of it. a big supporter of our team in the whole air show. so we come together every weekend for us fleet week and put on an awesome airshow this year. i'm actually gonna be fine to different airplanes. i'm going to be flying single-seater about of prop plane as well as the patriot jet. so it'll be fun. what kind >> spectacular things in the sky that we should be looking for it too. >> so the patriots are going to be fine for sunday's

attacks jets and you're fine with the patriots. cracked open mind. yes okay. got it. and so unlike some of the other jet teams, we have jets going all over the place. so we stand front of the crowd. we have 2 jets going this way to just go in that way. my gosh. and we got red, white and blue smoke. so you'll know it's the patriots. so i think we're flying just around 12, and then a little bit later in the day about 2.15, we're going to find the smaller aerobatic aircraft so that 2 of them red, white and blue line and we commonly disorder head-on hits. we do the tumble. so they're more people com, the flippy floppy airplane. okay. the flippy floppy. airplanes. >> so when you do all of this kind of acrobatic events up in the are the planes specific to handle the forces that you guys put it the plains through? >> they are. they are. so the the flippy floppy planes, they were tested too. plus or -20 g. so they're really strong and they're designed to do those kind of tumbles because

the force quite >> impactful. i mean that that's a lot to ask of any kind of plane, correct? is. we're pulling the end of the performance. we know you're not throwing up lot of pratt, a lot of progress. it is very first couple times. i did it. i don't. i flew for 15 minutes. i'm like i'm never going to be able to do and it's our got used to and practice and in felt better and better in the jets. don't pose many g's, but it's a lot longer sustain. so we were g suits. >> so inflate and squeeze all the blood in your body to sure doesn't come out. so the jesus really help love this idea. okay. you to talk to your wife but anyway. >> how do you prepare for this? i mean, you know, are you on a trampoline in the backyard? like what do you do? how do you do an end? >> is everyone practicing all of the time.

>> we do. we practice before every but before we even floor first air show and the smaller planes, ok, randi, held his own of the jet team in the other person. i fly within this united 175 practice you can talk 75 times. that doesn't include walking through it and visualizing it. and we sit in a chair like you and i we talk through it. and then for the patriots, we do the exact same thing. we go out and we we walk through it and we talk about and everyone goes through their calls and just like we're doing it in the air. but we do it on the ground. then we get in the jets and we go do it up in our practice to software and singing along those lines simulators or or we don't. but we use a lot of video debrief. so at rd briefs, watch the video and play and we pause it and we talk about it. ok, and the idea is that. >> if something's not right, you fix it and you don't let it happen again. so you always want to improve and make things better and better. i have ask of you ever been scared? no, i would. i would
