down. what we're learning about park officials plans to make the area safer for pet owners. plus a front door of a popular san francisco restaurant shattered during a break in what the owners saying about this setback. all eyes on the skies today after the blue angels canceled their much anticipated saturday show. what you need to know if you want to catch there, just soaring over the bay today. >> good morning, everyone. thank you for joining on this sunday kron 4 morning news. i'm theresa it is sunday october 13th. can you believe it already? let's start right now by getting a look at your weather with dave spahr. high day. >> hey, good morning, theresa. good morning, everybody. and we're starting things off just like we did from yesterday with all this fog in cloud cover. and it looks like a lot of that's going to stick around for a while. although there does to seem to be some improvement as we get to the at least the early afternoon for a few hours this afternoon

will see things open up for the bay. we could even see some blue skies trying peer in through from the berkeley hills shot. as you can see, although at the ground level, certainly covering up all the east bay shoreline for now, getting back to that fog. notice. yeah, looking pretty good as we get to the early afternoon, we get a few hours of some sunshine around the bay. little bit more in the overcast department for a lot of the coast. however. and then as we get to tonight, it fills back in again. quick check of the winds. they're kind of coming in from the north right now that sometimes as little bit of an offshore wind event. but hey, with what's going on, that's not a problem. now, temperatures are very mild going on because of all this cloud cover fog and such that's kept us in a locked holding pattern. forget the 50's. it's mostly in the 60's universally across the bay. some exceptions. sonoma. 57, for example, hour by hour, we see the fog lingering for the next few hours. fog clouds, 66 by 09:00am 10 o'clock starting to see it break up a little bit, particularly from the inland perspective in the east bay perspective, until it spreads on to the west and san

several months. coyotes have made a home at crissy field threatening people and dots. the organization crissy group says over the last 2 months, coyotes killed 5 docks. hence the sights and the hesitation to fully enjoy the speech to cut my dog. >> wave my arms screen. fortunately it worked both times but never to the point where the coyote actually left the u.s. as one coyote in particular. she sees often and even snapped these photos saying feel confident enough to charge the coyote either with the dog and my this week, national park service announced that killed a coyote, it says is responsible for 2 of those dog attacks. they say this coyote was more aggressive than others and it's horrible. it's been a very awful experience. it's been very stressful for a lot of people walters. the chair for crissy group says people are fed up and just want safety that the vast majority of people who walk their dogs dogs there as well as other park visitors. >> have been very unsettled by the aggressive some good news.

that's this easy. tom connolly and manisha patel live in north beach. but come here with their 10 year-old dog lucy actually alerted me to a coyote that was probably i don't know. >> 20 feet away, but still no fear saying they just avoid the coyotes when they can and advise other dog owners to be aware. i mean, you know, if you're responsible, dog owner. if you're careful. >> we should be okay. and the katie's sir. is that a man to >> padilla agrees and says she wants to respect the wildlife while also keeping her own dog safe so that he could celebrate another birthday. i thought about getting a guard dog. my i'm sometime educating myself and other people. >> on how we can. peacefully coexist. and the crissy groups say this isn't over either it and wants to make sure national park service and other agencies and san francisco keep track of coyotes as they continue to make more of a home. >> in san francisco, jacques

moment, kron 4 news. >> happening now, the oakland police department is searching for this team. you can see right there on your screen same as a school. isis, francisco macario and he was last seen on the 3400 block of san leandro street all the way back in september. mccurry was described as having hair and brown eyes. he's 5 foot with 6 inches. so 5, 6, if you've seen him, please call police. new this morning. antioch police are searching for the driver that hit a person on lone tree way and then took office happened saturday night around 8.30, when police got to the scene, they found an unresponsive woman on the ground. she was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. antioch police are still investigating the cause of the crash. well, a restaurant in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood is recovering from its 4th break

and united dumplings shared to social media that there cortland avenue location was broken into earlier this week, the businesses claim that the damage puts them out about $2000. repairs will include new class for the front door, which shattered. in november. oakland voters are being asked to approve an extension and an an existing parcel tax to pay for police and fire services. it would generate roughly 47 million dollars annually by hiking the existing tax on single-family homes and measure would also increase the city's tax on spaces in private parking lots and garages. if passed, it would require the city to increase the police department's minimum staffing number. and it also prohibits layoffs of firefighters to a level below 480. if the city fails have its budget for more officers, it would be prohibited from

or cannot say the blue angels, which is kind of a big deal for a lot of people right? >> yeah. good morning, theresa. good morning. everybody got the water colors going on this morning and we got some blue to happening a half moon bay, though. that's very a suspicious. but don't bet the farm on that just yet. we have a few hours to get through of all this. fog in us will see some afternoon clearing. there's a window that develops. we're going take a look at that coming up in just a bit. first far, temperatures most readings in the 60's a little warmer than yesterday because of all this cloud cover this fog and all of that moisture. low-level moisture at hand. we couldn't cool off too much at night. water vapor is actually a greenhouse gas technically. so we weren't able to drop as much into the 50's. it's also gonna keep our temperatures down a bit. futurecast. let's go in. freeze at about 1 o'clock. you see a peeling away across the bay. much better job than we saw from yesterday. so we have a nice little window here for the afternoon. the sun timing on all that. but as we start to lose the daytime heating, the marine layer comes back again. and it's fairly thick. you know, it's about 6,000 feet. you have to get up there

before it starts breaking out the drier air. so that's the problem to do the regular mixing process. it's not low enough to really do that. a lot of times you get up a couple 1000 feet away. we go just mixes out. but this little thicker to get through. all right. we do the same kind of program on monday. it looks like and things don't start clearing out in earnest a bit until we get to about tuesday or so. and then it looks like by tuesday night, maybe more rain starting to develop as well. our winds, meanwhile, they're kind of variable as well. they're coming all sorts directions, which is ok and offshore. wind is not a problem. now upstream, it's something to be watching a little bit to the latter portion of the week. so putting this all together for you today. we got the afternoon clearing breezy and milder should say partially afternoon clearing tomorrow they clouds and sunny mild with the 70's cooking here. and for this week, we're watching for a shot of rain happening by wednesday or maybe tuesday night wednesday, latter portion of the week say this verbally, there is an offshore wind pop that happened. solano county, sacramento valley, little bit of the napa. not exactly sure

the intensity of all of that, which makes it very important to get at least ev, even if it's just a modest amount of showers on wednesday, moisten up the ground level, little bit of some defense against that offshore wind event. checking out temperatures for you today across the bay. we got 68 san francisco, 72 oakland. 76 with afternoon clearing san jose. but again, it's about a window of about 4 hours or so will get today. highs on the board. we have a couple of 80's well inland like concord, an antioch at 82 up north. most of the readings are in the 70's, although back of those coming in at 83 next couple of days here for you. we'll keep it in the 70's for the most part. no major changes until that's a tuesday night. by the way, that's what says they're mostly sunny and then into wednesday, maybe some scattered showers. so temperatures will be behaving themselves in a nice warm up next weekend, ok? but i don't hear that there's really kind of a clear for forecast for there's a window chance for the window yes, i like the window of opportunity on okay. >> in the south bay, a big

guilty plea. the former executive director of the san jose police officers association has pleaded guilty in federal court. she was charged with illegally importing synthetic opioid pills. 64 year-old joanne marion suge ovia was arrested last year attempting to bring the batch of drugs into the united states. and then distributed federal prosecutors say that to go use computers, both at work and home to order the thousands of drugs. they claim that went on for more than 7 years. and 61 shipments were sent to her home. she now faces up to 20 years in prison. well, governor gavin newsom says that california strong and getting stronger, but his critics argue he is out of touch. capitol correspondent eytan wallace explains. welcomed with the plots. governor gavin newsom making this appearance at the california economic summit.

sale of part of the coliseum. why they say payment delays could affect police and fire departments and much more. as kron 4 celebrates 75 years in the bay area. we take a look at the bay area resident making a difference through volunteering. hello, everyone. kron 4 morning news on the sunday. we'll have those stories for you in just a moment. but first, let's get a look at the forecast. foggy wet kind of crazy this morning, right? dave spahr here to unpack it all. >> good morning, theresa. good morning, everybody. and we're dealing with that fog yet again today. that low level moisture will be around. it looks like through a good portion of the morning. a live shot coming into sfo. you can see some blue star to peer through just a little bit. there. give us a little shot of some sunshine, maybe perhaps get back that fog cast here. yeah, it starts to peel away in the early afternoon and you can see that window of opportunity for about 4 hours or so before it comes streaming back in again. it looks like it repeat that performance again for tomorrow. our temperatures

because of all those low level moisture are very mild. look at them into the 60's for most part, there are 50's here and there. but a lot of times we see in the 50's after a clear overnight which we did not have a look ahead for today afternoon, clearing breezy and mild. then tomorrow we get them a cloud, sunny and mild with a lot of 70's. and then for this week we're looking at a chance of showers on wednesday. it's after that. got to watch out a little bit because there might be offshore wind pa, particularly if we don't get that rain. we're looking at 60's through all this morning. better clearing happening. that's most likely going to be in contra costa county to go caeck of the east bay at that early hour, taking part across the bay as we get to the early afternoon. more on your forecast to show everybody is going today and look at the extended to they thank you very much for the blue angels are back for san francisco's flee week right? >> but the super hornets are not the only aircraft that you'll see over the bay in 2022. kron 4, stephanie lin caught a ride on one of the fleet's. most beloved plains found out it is the only

aircraft in the show operated by u.s. marines. take a look. >> if the strength and size that could carry you to mount olympus and back, they called the super hercules this massive plane might not be the first that comes to mind when you think of the blue angels. but it can also take you to heavenly heights. >> highs, i've seen this particular from those 35,000 feet. >> lovingly known as fat albert. this jumbo jet is mission critical to getting san francisco fleet week off the ground. we also get opportunity to start off the demo, most shows for our jets. take a look at the body of this plane. albert was named after a children's cartoon because of its rounder size and shape. and i absolutely love it. what engineer lauren song, part of the crew taking us into the friendly skies today that our is still a part of the blue angels, but we're all marine crew, her enthusiasm is contagious. it's

incredible opportunity to be able to fly all the different places that would do. this is the view on board and there's plenty of room essential space to carry all the people. and here the blue angels need. >> from show to show just moments after takeoff. the plane hit a 45 degree. klein. >> to hold catches me off guard. >> the c one, 30 jay super hercules proving its know acre us. at one point the pilot takes us just 40 feet over the water. a thrill for the boaters below. that's after several tight turns and hard banks. the big aircraft making solid use of its 132 foot wingspan strong enough to lift a max weight of 175,000 pounds. >> so while these guys might be able to streak through the skies. that albert proves it's more than capable of carrying its own weight.

>> it's frickin awesome. it's so cool. >> it takes the crew of 8 people to fry this giant aircraft and all the pilots have to be aircraft, commander, qualified meaning they have to have at least 1200 flight hours under their belt. now, stephanie lin reporting back in 2022. and it's again going to make its last journey today. hopefully the fog lifts and why. >> in the north bay here, a person is dead after a crash in the north bay. it happened near geyserville. the chp responded to reports of a car that had landed on its roof just after noon on saturday highway 101 south of canyon road. now, according to highway patrol, the current honda lost control went over the center median that crash into a subaru heading the opposite direction of honda had 4 people inside. one of them was killed. the serb ru have 3 people, including a mother and her baby inside. we

know that they were taken to the hospital. we have not heard on their condition and the name of the person killed has not been identified yet. in a swift response to a series of fast, the concord police department apprehended suspects at the rhonda shopping center friday morning. gap reported to grant that providing detailed descriptions of the suspects vehicle. moments later, spirit halloween also reported a theft involving similar suspects. concord officers spotted the an occupied vehicle and waited for the suspects to return. and then when they did, they were caught with reportedly stolen merchandise from 2 additional businesses. all of the reporting parties confirmed the suspect's identities and the stolen items were returned to the stores. now the suspects were arrested on multiple theft charges. can city council members, sir, blasting mayor sheng thao over the new coliseum deal? the deal involves multiple payment

plans which are different than the original deal. but according to city officials, the new timeline could lead to dramatic budget cuts affecting police and fire departments and much more. the mayor sheng thao claims at the time he won't be a problem and that this new deal would actually net the city more money than the previous agreement. now, what we're seeing is that actually going to receive more money. >> become the first fiscal year. that's 110 million dollars in the first fiscal year. and we would have from the previous proposed amendments that we made. i'm saying that the budget that the city council has already passed. it lists is around. you this is what we're going to spend our money on. so if you're asking, like, will more cuts come because coliseum deal? we're not getting the money. the 48 in by december, we're getting more money in the fiscal year. you have to think about this in fiscal year. turns. >> contrasts council members say that the city must still account for that delay of a

kit, the chase. a park and then threatening nearby property belonging to the petaluma at youth soccer lake. 4 days later, a parks department maintenance building was fully engulfed in flames on maria drive that same night, witnesses reported seeing the sperry and armed with a machete near a 3rd fire north of lynch creek trail. police utilized a drone to locate him at the scene. authorities say that the investigation is still ongoing as to the motive of these fires. fight over the naming of a local airport is continuing. the port of oakland is responding to san francisco leaders for suing them over the use of san francisco in the oakland airport named earlier this year. the port of oakland change the name to the san francisco bay, oakland international airport. san francisco officials say that they have the trademark to the name and say that a recent survey shows a travelers are getting confused over the name. fox the port of oakland

leaders claims that san francisco manipulated the results of the survey. the court is expected to hear arguments for a lawsuit that lawsuit next month. kron 4 is celebrating. 75 years in the bay area. and we want to take a look back at her history on this day in the bay. one woman in the north bay took a big step forward and helping firefighters. murray county. this is footage taken from our archives back in 1970, a woman volunteering. to help out the towel, pius fire department, the woman jeanine says that she made the decision after hearing the department was short of volunteers at a budget hearing. kron. 4 reporter frank johnstone was there and chatted with jeanne about why she decided to make this big leap. >> aires and i'm just here. i

>> live look outside. you can see all that heavy fog. i was complaining about the humidity because hair and humidity don't mix. but that's just my personal opinion. dave spahr here tell us all about. >> well, good morning to reset. good morning, everybody. quite a bit of the fog hanging around 2. here's a shot of the east bay shoreline. you can see kind just hovering a little bit aloft, giving it a little bit of stride, stratus up there. but much better conditions are aloft. we just have to get rid of this lower level moisture here. the promise is there. but at the surface, these are dew points. now and these numbers of the actual measurement of moisture in the air. in other words, unlike humidity, contingent on temperature. this doesn't care about that. it does functions independently of that and the lower the number, the drier, the air. well, 50's, that's pretty elevated in the afternoon like that. a lot of times we're going to see numbers drop into the 40's. even the 30 sometimes course they get too low. that's where the fire concern is, but not for today. certainly got him

we're following out of san francisco this week. the national parks service announced it has killed a coyote. it says responsible for 2 dog crissy field. this comes after 5 dogs have been killed by coyotes in the same area just in the last 2 months. kron 4 is jack molmud spoke to dog owners about their concerns. this is a diamond in the i will come here. this is our happy place. christine padilla is celebrating her corgi berkeley's 4th birthday at their favorite beach. it's the best beach to come off leash. unfortunately, we haven't done off-leash a couple weeks now. yeah. that's because corgis in labs aren't the only canines here has last several months. coyotes have made a home at crissy field threatening people and dogs. >> the organization crissy group says over the last 2 months, coyotes killed 5 docks. hence the sights and the hesitation to fully enjoy the speech to cut my dog.

to approve an extension of an existing parcel tax to pay for police and fire services. it would generate roughly 47 million dollars annually by hiking the existing tax on single family homes. now, the measure would also increase the city's tax on spaces and private parking lots and garages. if passed would require the city to increase the police department's minimum staffing level. it also prohibits layoffs of firefighters to a level below 480. not if the city fails to maintain levels, it would be prohibited from collecting the taxes for that fiscal year. well, governor gavin newsom says california strong and getting stronger, but he's got some critics. they argue that he's out of touch. capitol correspondent eytan wallace explains. welcomed with the plots. governor gavin newsom making this appearance at the california economic summit.

fog to deal with upper 70's and then maybe by tuesday night, some showers trying to develop theresa. >> thank you very thursday was world mental health awareness day. the average person encounters many stressors, many stressors life. kids work social media, the current election cycle all crazy, right? well, joining me right now in the studios, nicole rivera. she is with kaiser and you are a marriage and family therapists. you also have a whole bunch of other really fancy titles that are really super important. joining us right now. can you kind of unpack a little bit? i mean, we were talking about how the surgeon general recently said a lot of us are very stressed out. i think a lot of us are especially like with the election. how do we manage all of this these days. there's a lot going on in the world today. so election like you mentioned, you know, they're still active shootings that are happening. parents are really stressed out trying to juggle, you know, they're

knives at time juggling i mean, there's no time to sleep. there is very little time. >> for self care. so i just want validate that. it is really difficult to do it all. one thing that personally helps me and i think different things work for different people. but something that kind of keeps me saying is spending time each day and the morning and the evening implementing just a little bit of self care. so i wake up i exercise for 30 minutes before my kids wake up before i have to do the hustle and bustle drop-off and got myself to work and then the evening, you know, even if it's just a half an hour reading a book or watching a show, just prioritizing some kind of self care kind of infusing something. and i was reading something yesterday about if you have like a bad day, doesn't have to blow up your entire day that if you >> have like little morsels and i was thinking, ok, what's going make me happy? make maybe a song. so is like singing on the way to work this morning and just something to kind of, you

know, reset maybe i love that and having things that you look forward to to rain. >> whether it's a vacation or if that's not something that you can do, you know, having a couple days to take off of work. >> getting yourself a massage, just something that you're looking forward to to get you through the week at help was among the vacations. kind of stress me out because i start to think about like packing. and one of my going to the dog and one of my going to be like, yes, all that kind of stuff can really kind of bubble up in yeah. kids. we were talking about kids and so forth. how are we doing in the pandemic? really caused a lot of mental health issues how our kids these days, you know, i think that's a great question. we were saying that kids were relatively behind for a number of years. you know, my son, for example, he was in kindergarten the first year of the pandemic. >> so that really shifted a lot of things socially. so hearts really, really difficult were saying still about one in 5 kiddo's. i'm struggling with anxiety and depression could be more about the amount that are kind of

reporting at this from ages 12 to 17. but we are seeing some return to normalcy, which is great. we're seeing sports, you know, kids getting back involved community. we're seeing parents, you're more involved in it. and the kids school and that part, i think, is really neat. but there's still a lot more that we can do to support our kids because there's a lot of pressures will social media with academics. you know, they're juggling a lot, too, and their little minds. and there's a lot of things that we can do to support and it's harming our family. i have twin daughters and they're constantly fighting with each other there on snap chat with their friends and, >> you know, in and >> and middle school is very difficult and so much drama mean, how do you how do you support specially those teens and their brains? and they're not developed and so for us. so it's just kind of again, was a generally with knives, but that's kind of what goes my head. sometimes. yeah, i think each family is different but really finding a balance that works for you. so balance of family time.

>> a balanced for them with their friends and their social time as well. making sure that they have enough time at the end of the day for homework. i know kids can get have around if we over schedule them, you know, my kids, for example, dance gymnastics softball. there's a lot going on. and i know that they can get a little bit more stressed when it's just one thing after another and it's a lot for sure. so making sure that that, you know, if it's the weekends, they can have a little bit of down time and really limiting their social media, especially if they're a little bit older. i think this time poured into i'm always constantly going, you know, do your laundry do this, get off your phone. don't quite think traffic causing of all that stuff. >> and i want to circle back as far as the election. i mean, it is a very emotional time any advice on route dealing with friends who have different political opinions family members and so forth. and we were listening to tim walz's brothers doesn't have a great relationship because it with different political

perspectives. how do we best deal with all that? i think it's so stressful because we care so much right. and there's a lot that feels outside of our control. >> and one thing that can help with anxiety in general is noticing what it is that you can control and also noticing when you need to turn the volume down when you might need to turn it up. so, for example, you know, it's getting involved in the community is something that helps, you know, being active, asked to get out there. my parents, they've been writing letters to support. they're they're can bet that they're wanting to, you know, see from the presidency and also noticing when you might need a break from it, right when it's too much. and then if you have loved ones who have different views than, you know, finding soma boundaries and even talking about it. i have a close friends and we've we've actually discussed many times that this is just a topic for us that that we don't talk about. and that feels really healthy for our friendship. so i think having those boundaries for yourself and relationships is really essential right now and also taking care of yourself in figuring out things you can do throughout the day to kind of

heading in the opposite direction. the junta had 4 people inside. one of them was killed in the crash. the subaru have 3 people, including a mother and her baby. we know that they were taken to the hospital. we have not heard anything about their condition or the name of the person killed. a new this morning. petaluma police are investigating after a man was stabbed. it happened early friday morning off of lynch creek trail. the victim told police he was walking with a friend when they were approached by a man. that's when the 2 got into a fight with a man and the victim. the victim was stabbed. he was taken to a hospital and thankfully expected to be okay. petaluma police are still searching for a suspect. and a swift response to a series of fafsa concord police department apprehended suspects have ran shopping center friday morning. gap reported a grand theft providing a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle. moments later, spirit halloween also reported a

fast-evolving similar suspects. a concord officers spotted the an occupied vehicle and waited for the suspects to return when they did. officers caught them with reportedly stolen merchandise from 2 additional businesses. all reporting parties confirmed the suspect's identities. and the stolen items were successfully returned to the stores. the suspects were arrested. no names yet on multiple theft charges. in the east bay. the mayor of oakland is blasting some city council members who are criticizing the deal made to sell half of the coliseum. the council members say, but the deal could live the city with even fewer first responders kron four's dan kerman as the story from both sides. >> the city's new deal to sell its half of the coliseum to the african american sports and entertainment group. we'll bring oakland more money than the original agreement and the deal will close in may of next year instead of 2026. but it

also delays the second payment of 10 million dollars to november 7th. and it delays november and january payments of 48 million dollars to may of next year. 3 council members say those payment delays will lead to dramatic budget cuts, which could include cutting cops and closing fire stations. >> the reality is we're in a bad situation that's only about to get worse because right now we have to make fairly immediate set a 48 million dollars of cuts. but mayor sheng thao who is taking credit for the new coliseum deal says the delay in the 48 million dollar payment is not a problem you're asking about. do we have a cash flow issue? and that is the answer to that is no. >> right. because we're working in fiscal years, you know, coming it with the money coming in march, even if they came in, maybe that's still within the fiscal year for that budget cycle. city staff later clarified the mayor's comments to indicate there's no need for additional cuts. as long as 2 things happen. one quarter, one revenues remain on track. we'll find that out later this month. and

probably spare. that will probably see that peel away as we get to around noon in the early afternoon. get a few hours of that. and then comes back again tonight. here's sfo for your 45 minute. delay is cooking on all of this. there you see the fog bank to the hills in the background and let's go in and run that. as you can see, the fog cast. this is about to 15. you get an idea of the bay looking pretty good at that. and then as we get to this evening, it fills back up again with a low level moisture, which is very typical. now. meanwhile, our winds also relatively uneventful, not doing much a single digits or nothing as you can see and a bit of an offshore wind at that, but not a problem. obviously, most of the readings have been very mild overnight, though. we're still in the 60's. no movement that way. obviously. and a couple of 50's here and there. and that compares to yesterday in the plus category were little warmer this morning than we were this time from yesterday. and that was the case all overnight to, as you can see, the pluses kind of over numb over populate from the negatives overnight. there. so hour by hour, we get out of the 60's into the 70's.

christine padilla is celebrating her corgi berkeley's 4th birthday at their favorite beach. it's the best beach to come off leash. unfortunately, we haven't done off-leash a couple weeks now. yeah. that's because corgis in labs aren't the only canines here has last several months. coyotes have made a home at crissy field threatening people and dots. >> the organization crissy group says over the last 2 months, coyotes killed 5 docks. hence the sights and the hesitation to fully enjoy the speech to cut my dog wave my arms screen. fortunately it worked both times but never to the point where the coyote actually the u.s. as one coyote in particular. she sees often and even snapped these photos saying feel confident enough to charge the coyote either with the dog and my left. this week, national park service announced that killed a coyote, it says is responsible for 2 of those dog attacks. they say this coyote was more aggressive than others and it's horrible. it's been a very awful experience. it's been very stressful for a % lot of people walters. the

crash. well, a restaurant in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood is recovering from its 4th break-in. united dumplings shared to social media that there cortland avenue location was broken into earlier this week. the businesses claim, but the damage puts them out to about $2000. repairs will include new glass for the front door, which was shattered. in can voters are being asked approve an extension and an existing parcel tax to pay for police and fire services. it would generate roughly 47 million dollars annually by hiking the existing tax on single-family homes. the measure would also increase the city's tax on spaces in private parking lots and garages if passed, would require the city to increase the fire. the police department's minimum staffing level. it also prohibits layoffs, firefighters to a level below 480 if the city

it's kids work. social media, current election cycle. you name it right. we're all feeling pretty drink earlier this morning, i spoke with nicole ybarra. she is a marriage and family therapist. with kaiser permanente about how we can better take care of ourselves. joining us right now, can you kind of unpack a little bit? i mean, we were talking about how the surgeon general recently said a lot of us are very stressed out. i think a lot of us are especially like with the election. how do we manage all of this these days. there's a lot going on in the world today. so election like you mentioned, you know, they're still active shootings that are happening. parents are really stressed out trying to juggle, you know, they're knives at time juggling i mean, there's no time to sleep. there is very little time. >> for self care. so i just want to validate that. it is really difficult to do it all. one thing that personally helps me and i think different things work for different

people. but something that kind of keeps me saying is spending time each day and the morning and the evening implementing just a little bit of self care. so i wake up i exercise for 30 minutes before my kids wake up before i have to do the hustle and bustle a drop-off and got myself to work. and then the evening, you know, evenbif it's just a half an hour reading a book or watching a show, just prioritizing some kind of self care kind of infusing something. and i was reading something yesterday about if you have like a bad day, doesn't have to blow up your entire day that if you >> have like little morsels and i was thinking, ok, what's going make me happy? make maybe a song. so is like singing on the way to work this morning and just something to kind of, you know, reset maybe i love that and having things that you look forward to to rain. >> whether it's a vacation or if that's not something that you can do, you know, having a couple days to take off of work. >> getting yourself a massage, just something that you're looking forward to to get you through the week at help was

among the vacations. kind of stress me out because i start to think about like packing. and one of my going to the dog and one of my going to like, yes, all that kind of stuff can really kind of bubble up in yeah. what kids we were talking about, kids and so forth. how are we doing in the pandemic? really caused a lot of mental health issues how our kids these days, you know, i think that's a great question. we were saying that kids were relatively behind for a number of years. you know, my son, for example, he was in kindergarten the first year of the pandemic. >> so that really shifted a lot of things socially. so hearts really, really difficult were saying still about one in 5 kiddo's. i'm struggling with anxiety and depression could be more about the amount better kind of reporting at this from ages 12 to 17. but we are seeing some return to normalcy, which is great. we're seeing sports, you know, kids getting back involved community. we're seeing parents, you're more involved in it. and the kids school and that part, i think,

is really neat. but there's still a lot more that we can do to support our kids because there's a lot of pressures will social media with academics. you know, they're juggling a lot, too, and their little minds. and there's a lot of things that we can do to support and it's harming our family. i have twin daughters and they're constantly fighting with each other there on snap chat with their friends and, >> you know, in and >> and middle school is very difficult and so much drama mean, how do you how do you support? >> specially those teens and their brains and they're not developed and so for us. so it's just kind of again, was a generally with knives, but that's kind of what goes my head sometimes. yeah, i think each family is different but t% really finding a balance that works for you. so balance of family time, a balanced for them with their friends and their social time as well. making sure that they have enough time at the end of the day for homework. i know kids can get have around if we over schedule them. >> you know, my kids, for example, dance, gymnastics softball. there's a lot going

on. and i know that they can get a little bit more stressed when it's just one thing after another and it's a lot for sure. so making sure that that, you know, if it's the weekends, they can have a little bit of down time and really limiting their social media, especially if they're a little bit older. i think this time poured into i'm always constantly going, you know? >> do your laundry do this? get off your phone. don't quite think traffic, half of all that stuff and i want to circle back as far as the election. i mean, >> it is a very emotional time any advice on route dealing with. >> friends who have different political opinions family members and so forth. and we were listening to tim walz's brothers doesn't have a great relationship because it with different political perspectives. how do we best deal with all that? i think it's so stressful because we care so much and there's a lot that feels outside of our control. >> and one thing that can help with anxiety in general is noticing what it is that you

can control and also noticing when you need to turn the volume down when you might need to turn it up. so, for example, you know, it's getting involved in the community is something that helps, you know, be an active, asked to get out there. my parents, they've been writing letters to support. they're they're can't that that they're wanting to, you know, see from the presidency and also noticing when you might need a break from it, right when it's too much. and then if you have loved ones who have different views than, you know, finding some boundaries and even talking about it. i have a close friends and we've we've actually discussed many times that this is just a topic for us that that we don't talk about. and that feels really healthy for our friendship. so i think having those boundaries for yourself and relationships is really essential right now and also taking care of yourself in figuring out things you can do throughout the day to kind of slow your system down. i appreciate that. well, nicole rivera, thank you so much for joining us and giving us some tips and so forth control what you can control. >> right. kind approach will be right back after the break. thank you.

back for san francisco fleet week. but the super hornets are not the only aircraft you'll see over the bay. >> and 2022 kron four's stephanie lin caught a ride on one of the fleet's most beloved plains, fat albert. it is the only aircraft in the show operated by u.s. marines. take a look. >> if the strength and size that could carry you to mount olympus and back, they called the super hercules this massive plane might not be the first that comes to mind when you think of the blue angels. but it can also take you to heavenly heights. >> highs, i've seen this particular front there from those 35,000 feet. >> lovingly known as fat albert. this jumbo jet is mission critical to getting san francisco fleet week off the ground. we also get the incredible opportunity to start off the demo, most shows for our jets. take a look at the body of this plane. albert was named after a children's cartoon because of its rounder size and shape. and i absolutely love it. what

baby inside. we know that they were all taken to the hospital. we have not heard anything on their condition or the name of the person that died. and new this morning petaluma police are investigating after a man was stabbed. it happened early friday morning off of lynch creek trail. the victim told police and was walking with a friend when they were approached by a man. that's when the 2 got into a fight with the man and the victim was stabbed. he was taken to the hospital. he is thankfully going to be ok, petaluma police say that they are still searching for the suspect. in a swift response to a series of facts. the concord police department apprehended suspects at the veranda shopping center friday morning. gap reported a grand theft providing a detailed description of the suspects vehicle. moments later, spirit halloween also reported a theft involving similar suspects. concord officers spotted the on occupied vehicle and then waited for the suspects to return when they did officers caught them

with a reportedly stolen merchandise from 2 additional businesses, all reporting parties confirmed the suspect's identities and the stolen items were given back to the stores. the suspects were arrested on multiple theft charges. and the east bay, the mayor of oakland is blasting some city council members who are criticizing the deal made to sell half of the coliseum. the council members say that the deal could leave the city with even fewer first responders kron four's. dan kerman has the story from both sides. >> the city's new deal to sell its half of the coliseum to the african american sports and entertainment group. we'll bring oakland more money than the original agreement and the deal will close in may of next year instead of 2026. but it also delays the second payment of 10 million dollars, 2 november 7th. and it delays november and january payments of 48 million dollars to may of next year. 3 council

members say those payment delays will lead to dramatic budget cuts, which could include cutting cops and closing fire stations. >> the reality is we're in a bad situation that's only about to get worse because right now we have to make fairly immediate set a 48 million dollars of cuts. but mayor sheng thao who is taking credit for the new coliseum deal says the delay in the 48 million dollar payment is not a problem you're asking about. do we have a cash flow issue? and that is the answer to that is no. >> right. because we're working in fiscal years, you know, coming it with the money come the in march, even if they came in, maybe that's still within the fiscal year for that budget cycle. city staff later clarified the mayor's comments to indicate there's no need for additional cuts. as long as 2 things happen. one quarter, one revenues remain on track. we'll find that out later this month. and to that second payment of 10 million dollars for the coliseum, which is due on november, 7th actually happens. they say if that happens, there will be no need for additional cuts.

saying kasparian armed with a machete near a 3rd fire north of lynch creek trail. police utilized a drone to locate him at the same. authorities say the investigation is still ongoing as to the motive behind these fires. a fight over the naming of a local airport is continuing. the port of oakland is responding to san francisco leaders for suing them over the use of san francisco in the oakland airport name earlier this year. the port of oakland change the name to the san francisco bay, oakland international airport. san francisco officials say that they have the trademark to the name. and say a recent survey shows travelers are getting very confused over the name change. but the port of oakland layers claims that san francisco manipulated the results of the survey. the court is expected to hear arguments for the lawsuit next month. kron 4 is celebrating.

75 years in the bay area. we want to take a look back at our history and on this day in the bay, one woman in the north bay took a big step forward in helping firefighters in warren county. this is footage taken from our archives back in 1970, a woman volunteered to help out the towel, pius fire department, the woman, the woman, her name was jeanne said that she made the decision after hearing the department was short volunteers at a budget heaning. kron 4 reported at the time. frank johnstone was there. he chatted. but jeanne, on why she decided to make the big leap. >> aires and i'm just here, i never ever wanted to be a fireman. but i suggested using housewives, i was a logical one to here was my suggestion. i have to do it. i opened my big mouth. so i have to back it up. i think he'll stick with i see no reason why not.

low level moisture with that keeps the temperatures somewhat controlled inland. you'll see a couple little spotty 80's here and there maybe but mostly 70's control. most of the bay. it looks like after we start the morning off with those mild 60 with all the low level moisture. they've got the band going up. 7 day forecast here. a lot of 70's on the board here. middle of the week is what we're watching here. some showers developing now. this looks a lot weaker than yesterday's model run and they can change. so just be patient. big issue with that is, you know, for the token, nothing showers, nothing burger shower, at least a little bit of moisture on the ground will help because we are looking at the possibility of some off when offshore winds thursday into friday. next weekend. looks like another warm weekend, though. little nice flavor of fall. not too hot. not too cold and into the following week. more changes coming with successive system. so no heat spikes coming our way. little controlled in moderation. i ration fingers crossed that you guys were going to be able
