in place for a look at what we can expect this week. let's check in with kron 4 chief meteorologist lawrence karnow lawrence. >>we haven't had any rain early. of course. fire season will continue till we see that first real significant rain or outside right now. we've got a couple clouds floating by little bit of a sea breeze out there. but things are really going to get whipping here in the next few days. national weather service has changed the fire weather. watch the fire weather warnings, red flag warnings all across most of the bay area stepped right in the north bay along the coastline. otherwise we're expecting some of the gusts to get the diablo range. maybe 65 miles per hour. coastal ranges. you could be talking about 45, maybe 50 mile an hour gusts over some of the coastal so a dangerous fire conditions coming our way. you get a fire started in those kind of conditions. you can get what's called a firestorm. here's latest forecast for the winds that onshore flow for today. tomorrow we've got a front coming through. it's going to be breezy and gusty, but more of a sea breeze by the afternoon into thursday. everything begins to change. you can see the arrow starting to change more of a normally

pattern ear. but then as we get into friday, that's when those winds really turn off shore. that's where you see humidity dropping down to the teens. those offshore winds could fan the flames. should a fire gets started on friday? >>kind of like diminishes our home in the san francisco school district system. >>a parent that francisco public montessori voiced their outrage over the school district's list of 13 to close or merge, including theirs as of pm, is the only public montessori school in the city. and parents claim closing would only allow families who can afford private school tuition opportunity to learn through their more activity based education. mayor london breed says the plan to close and merge the schools must stop immediately. claims there is a major communication issue between her stabilization team that he meant to give advice on how to fill the 110 million dollar budget gap before state takeover becomes necessary. she joins the united educators of san francisco there, which believes that instead of closures, the budget deficit
11:34 pm
can be fixed by improving enrollment. internal budgets and staffing. >>i am asking for the school district to hold off on this process and the fact is hard decisions are going to have to be made. there are going to be school mergers. they're going to be changes and these are hard conversations. but the school district needs to know the basics of what are we talking about financially? what do we need to do our these complete school mergers versus closures like we have a lot of unanswered questions. >>in a statement, the superintendent wayne said in part, quote, over the next 2 weeks, i will spend time with the students, families and staff of each of the 13 schools that meet the criteria for closure or merger listening to their questions and concerns. and i know there is nothing they'll make those conversations easier. that was his response to breed. and the superintendent visited with several of the schools on the closure list today to speak face-to-face with those parents and teachers. but before each meeting, school

with the future unknown, she says it's hard to focus on this questions that we have no control over a little over a mile away. young students also rallied at san francisco public montessori before their parents session with the superintendent. and as a member of the pta, i'm here too. >>voice our concerns and get him to. >>hold them accountable. montessori parents like birth argument or upset their schools on the list because they want their children to continue on with this rare kind of education, the one and only public montessori that san francisco has so to be taking this away. it doesn't make any sense. this one should survive. there should be more in the meeting. the superintendent continued to tell parents one of the reasons for the closures is due to a decline in enrollment elementary schools on the decry that includes schools having fewer than 260 students. and with the lowest composite scores. but parents here say there's always a

waitlist to get into the montessori if the district caps the enrollment, right? there's only 105 people. >>pre-pandemic it was 170 something and then certainly the building can accommodate over 200, maybe 2.50, something like that. there's there's an entire floor that's not even used up there. we have the capacity. we have the room, but we're not being allowed to have that many students. i'm sara stinson reporting kron. 4 news. >>police in san francisco are investigating a stabbing in the castro. they say a man was stabbed this morning near 18th and collingwood streets. he was taken to the hospital and no arrests have been made at this time. the investigation is underway. >>i can tell you today that crime is down >>in oakland, mayor sheng thao, they're delivering her state of the city address. the mayor touted a drop in crime including auto thefts and break-in. maarat al says the city is on track of having

from our work with the school board that are stabilization team would be taken seriously. and there has been information that has gone out that we weren't aware of. that school board members weren't aware of. so there were you know, major communication issues with our superintendent. but don't look for the superintendent to leave in his own accord or for the closure process to stop. >>in a statement released tuesday, wayne said over the next 2 weeks, i will spend time with students, families and staff of each of the 13 schools that meet the criteria for closure or merger listening to their questions and concerns. i know there is nothing that will make those conversations easier. at the same time, i must ensure the district continues to improve educational outcomes for all 49,000 students entrusted in our care. what happens next is up to the school board scheduled to meet next in closed session on the 22nd of the month. in san francisco. dan kerman kron. 4 news.
