birthday in 1987 she never recovered on monday. her convicted killer eric chatman was re sentence from death row to life without the possibility of parole. bush says his sister's murder trial is still fresh on his mind. he said it actually felt good to stab my sister. 52 times. and letter bleed to for that in court. still to this day, it brings chills to me to sit there and relive that moment. the andretti family also wants the da out of office after a judge reduced the sentence of their mother's killer in august, had the reax periods all the strong because of what rosen has done. mark crew was convicted of killing his wife of 2 months. nancy and roddy in 1982 crew has never shown any remorse. he's never told us where her body is. rosen who sought the death penalty in previous cases as a longtime prosecutor change course and launched an effort to reduce the death sentences of 15 murders. he called death

golden gate bridge looking good out there right now as we are going to see return some low clouds and fog moving into the bay tonight, i think mostly cherry valley state clear tomorrow. you're looking fog in the morning. then becoming mostly sunny by the afternoon. the temperatures be mild warm, low 80's popping up as we head toward the middle of the week and then there's a slight chance of showers late on friday into saturday. show you that in a moment right now we've got a cold front kind of fall apart as his running into a ridge of high pressure. so tomorrow more that onshore breeze continues. the mild temperatures around the bay area, but them laurie forecast model starting to pick up on the change in the pattern here. one area low pressure pushing the north. still some nice weather through thursday and then on friday, this one gets a little bit closer and there's a slight chance we could be talking about some scattered showers as it moves on by at least north of the golden gate bridge. one thing i'm worried about it starts to drop over the top of that ridge down toward the great basin. usually that's when we start to see those winds. those offshore winds wrap it up again. temperatures those going to be chilly in spots tonight. we're talking 43 little bite in the air and santa rosa. 43 also in the battle. 44, as you make your way into napa and 50 degrees

in san jose highs tomorrow. pretty comfortable. lot of upper 70's in the interior valleys. 78 degrees in concord. 78 nanny off with all is well, 70 degrees in oakland, 70's for in san jose and 66 degrees. little breeze in the san francisco next couple days. those temperatures marching up just a bit. slight chance of shower north of the golden gate bridge on friday into saturday morning. thanks, lawrence. >>allow me to county district attorney pamela price says she's concerned about the oakland police department. that's after 2 officers recently charged for driving under the influence while on duty. the da said the letter to the oakland police chief asking for a thorough investigation of the officers. rice also asked the department to review and create policies prevent this kind of behavior. >>stewards of public safety. it is critical that we hold police officers to the highest standards having police officers intoxicated while on duty or off duty represents a clear and present danger to the officer and the public.

>>according to price, the implementation of new policy should apply to both on and off duty officers and the oakland police department releasing a statement after this saying they never received a letter from the da's office adding, quote, opd is aware of the allegations made against our members and is cooperating with our outside law enforcement agencies on each case, the employees in question were place on administrative leave in june of 2023 in october of 2023. and the matters are under investigation. the biden administration just propose a new rule that would expand health care coverage so americans could get contraceptives for free right now, private health insurers to have to cover contraception costs when prescribed. but the new proposal would require insurers to fully cover this without a prescription. the real what cover condoms, birth control pills and morning after pills. but it will have to go through a 60 day comment period before can be finalized.

>>welcome back. the keller fire is very close to full containment, but the smell of smoke in the area is likely to linger over the next few days after forcing people in nearly 500 homes to evacuate. cal fire says the 15 acre blaze is now at 95% contained. the fire broke out friday afternoon along a freeway and winds pushed the flames into a neighborhood in oakland hills, damage to homes. evacuation orders were lifted last night.

but tonight crews still remain in the oakland hills area monitoring what's left many people now back home say they've been doing everything they can to minimize fire risk around their property. and those efforts certainly paid off kron four's lindsay for reports from the oakland hills. >>chris dobbins has lived in the oakland hills area, his whole life. he tells me when he was growing up, he watched his father practice fire mitigation around his childhood home and now years later, he's taken on that role to make sure his mother's home is safe from fires. >>every year we have to cut down all the weeds and all of that brush. >>chris dobbins and his wife live in a condo in oakland hills. but he's still staying busy doing yard work, not for his home, but for his mothers is the area that burned down where i live down below. it was unclear and you have a lot of eucalyptus trees, which you know, invasive not native to this area. >>so when they burn the, you know, blow up and that that was part of the problem that

person is hurt after getting shot in a drive-by shooting. the sacramento county sheriff's office is now investigating. reporter zach boetto has more from the sacramento memorial on. >>sacramento county sheriff's office officials say that one person was transported to a local hospital after several shots were fired here at the sacramento memorial on cemetery. they say it all started because of these 2 memorial headstones right here that were damaged. officials say over the weekend, they say that someone came in here over the weekend and vandalized these 2 headstones. and then here today on monday, the family, the loved ones of the young men are buried here team to fix these headstones up, put them back together. this happened around one 20 here on monday afternoon. and that's 10 covid vehicle, they say pulled up and fired several

>>in francisco, mayor london breed is publicly showing support for the new superintendent of the san francisco unified school district kron. 4 shaw's clifford has the latest. >>well, it has been a tumultuous couple of weeks for the san francisco unified school district on monday morning. mayor london breed introduced the district's new superintendent on monday. san francisco mayor london breed announced that she believes that dr maria sue the long-tim head of the city's department of children, youth and their families is the right person to lead the san francisco unified school district. >>i have confidence and faith in her leadership. and i know working with the school board. she will do an amazing job to help provide clarity and stability. >>to agree to take the job after dr. matt wayne resigned as superintendent on friday, october 8th. the school

district had released a list of 11 schools that were facing possible closure. but that plan was met with immediate and strong opposition. last week. mayor breed publicly denounced the plan and said that she had lost confidence in wayne's ability to lead the district. he resigned a few days later. well, school closures are now off the table for the time being. the district is still facing a financial crunch brought on in part by falling enrollment numbers while she revealed no specific plans acknowledge that it won't be easy to balance the district's budget. >>i know that the district faces tremendous challenges. and it's going to be a bumpy we're going to have to make some really tough decisions ahead of us. despite concerns that the state might take control of the district if they don't create a balanced budget by the end of the year. state superintendent tony thurmond said on monday that their role is only to advise and provide guidance. >>and let me be clear, there will not be a state takeover in san francisco. let me be clear about that. >>now, the outgoing superintendent, dr wayne is still set to receive his

in nearly 500 homes to evacuate. cal fire says the acre fire is now and 95% contained. the fire broke out friday afternoon along the freeway and the winds pushed the flames from the freeway into a neighborhood in oakland hills. it later damage to homes and evacuation orders were lifted last night. but tonight crews to remain in the oakland hills still monitoring the situation. many people now back in their home say they've been doing everything they can to minimize the fire risk. and those efforts certainly paid off as we learn from kron four's lindsay for reporting from the oakland hills. >>chris dobbins has lived in the oakland hills area, his whole life. he tells me when he was growing up, he watched his father practice fire mitigation around his childhood home and now years later, he's taken on that role to make sure his mother's home is safe from fires. >>every year we have to cut all the weeds and all of that brush.

assaulted him. he says an unnamed professional athlete walked in and that's how he was able to get away. also among the plaintiffs, a personal trainer who says in 2022, he attended an awards show after party in the hollywood hills hosted by combs. he claims over celebrity's engaging in group there and that after having one drink, he became disoriented and weak. he alleges comb sexually abused him and forced him to have oral with an unnamed celebrity. combs has denied the allegations against him saying the filings are in attempt to gain publicity since november. at least 25 civil lawsuits have been filed against combs and many remain active. combs is currently in jail awaiting trial for trafficking and racketeering charges. kimberly chang, ktla, 5 news. more top

>>folks, we've got some clouds, patchy fog popping up around the bay area. not a thick deck. like you get in the middle of summer. time of the return to the sea breeze, bringing an end to the fire danger around the bay area. that was probably the most welcome sight to see out there today. right now you can see not bad over the bay little haze out there. a little fog there in the distance approaching the coastline. we're going to see that fog overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. nice out toward the golden gate bridge. dry out there right now would love to get a little rain go on. just not right now. tonight, a low clouds and fog on a stick back into the bay

tomorrow, starting out with some patchy fog giving way to some sunshine and a couple passing clouds and then i think the temperatures going to warm up just a little bit. the middle of the week here is we'll see a return to some 80's in some of the valleys. then there's a slight chance of rain late in the day on friday. i think mainly north of the golden gate bridge, although that has been trending drier in the last few runs of the computer models. here we we cold front sliding into the state today bringing some scattered showers up toward crescent city recall. so the chef area not much energy left south for us out of that. just a couple of passing clouds out there make for a nice sunset. the overall, though. yeah, i think most of that energy will stay north of the bay area. and so we're going to sit here high and dry think is high pressure kind of builds in that ridge going to hold on this front gonna die in. there you go. i think we're settling really in a nice pattern. almost what we call a zonal flow where the winds traveling from west and headed east. that's who's usually a good place to be as we're going to see some mild temperatures around the bay area tomorrow afternoon. and a lot of sunshine low. a forecast models do pain a chance of rain coming our way possibly into friday. you see

that approaching storm. but most that energy was ahead. well to the north now, boy, with each it continues to get drier and drier and looks like the best chance north of the golden gate bridge. if we get any at all. on the backside of that and look at the storm system beginning to drop back into the great basin, possibly. and that's when we start to talk about those gusty winds. again, as we get into next week. temperatures for overnight lows. gonna be a little chilly down about 43 in santa rosa. 43 in nevada. little bite in the air there. 40's 50's elsewhere around the bay area. by day tomorrow. a nice temperatures. 65 degrees. some sunshine, some passing clouds in the san francisco little cool out toward the beaches, breezy out there as well. 65 in burlingame, 65 degrees in brisbane about 71 in san carlos. tomorrow, you'll find some sunshine. a couple passing clouds in san jose. 75 comfortable 77 degrees and love more. warm temperatures in many of the inland spots cooler inside the bay and that breeze, that double breeze blowing in the afternoon as well. 64 degrees stinson beach in the next few days. well, we're going to see a nice pattern kind of setting up. going to see warmer temperatures through the next few weeks. slight chance
