saw paramedics rushing to help a man lying on a sidewalk. that's on 4th street off east santa clara street officers laters told us the man did not survive. we have reached out to san jose police from our details and we will, of course, update you as soon as we hear back. good evening. i'm stephanie rothman. now to a disturbing story out of the east bay. tonight. a teenage boy is accused of attacking an assistant principal and tracking her by her hair. it all happened at a high school homecoming dance. and as students and parents are calling the incident troubling to say the least kron four's. sara stinson reports from san ramon. >>and assistant principal was attacked in the parking lot here right outside of the dance. a california high school. we still don't know what led up to this, but parents and students, they tell us this has the entire community concerned the absolutely shocking like it. when i heard about it, i thought i couldn't believe that something like that was actually happening here. well, that's that's going crazy. and

that's that's well, the homecoming dance at california high school in san ramon ended with a violent attack. police say on saturday night around 8.45, an assistant principal was approached by 2 teens in the parking lot. they say a 16 year-old boy from another school in the district assaulted and dragged her by the hair. then the 2 students took off later that night. officers identified and found the boy at his home. the teen was arrested and charged for battery causing serious bodily injury and kidnapping. he was booked into juvenile hall to very concerned about the that any student help shield of make an assault, staff adams daughter addie was at the dance. she says she didn't see anything but quickly learned about what happened. and i think it's really horrible. what happened then. also curious. >>does and why it happens and just questions and concerns. the 10th grader says it's been a huge topic at school this week. there's been a lot of discussion in classrooms with teachers and people have a lot of questions and stuff. i'ts

personally don't know which just some principle laws because there's 5 0st so that we have sadie says students are not allowed to bring guests from other schools to the dance. so it's unclear why the teen was there. the san ramon valley unified school district's superintendent sent a letter to families saying they're conducting an investigation to see what kind of disciplinary action needs to be taken. superintendent cj cammack wrote in part, quote, we want to be clear and no certain terms this conduct will not be tolerated at cal high or at any school, really great community. so when something like this happens, it surprising it's disheartening? >>because that's not how the majority of our community treats each the district has not released any information about the assistant principal or her condition after the attack. police say they're still investigating. if you have any information you're asked to contact them. i'm sara stinson reporting in san ramon kron. 4 news. the upcoming recall election

malley came out in support of the recall. the campaign team for da price says the lawsuit is political grandstanding. and here's a live look at the bay bridge tonight. the cars crossing it could go off for the next 6 years. >>that's if officials approve a new proposal. the bay area toll authority is considering to increase bridge tolls for all bay area. bridges. >>that's except for the golden gate bridge. but it would happen every year until 2030. the toll authority says the increase needed to pay for construction and maintenance would help and they all are still trying to make up for lost revenue from the pandemic. these are the proposed increases for the fast track users tolls are set up to go $8 next year. and that was approved by voters in a previous election. but this new toll increase would be by $0.50 every year. eventually capping out at 10, 50 in 2030. and those without fast track, they could pay even more. the

campaign office in the mission district today. suffice as the man who did it has lloyd it around their headquarters multiple times in the past. and today he says the man was intimidating his staff from the atrium, taking it one step further when one woman went to lock the doors of the office, that man threw a large rock through the glass wall. take a look at this. you can see his headquarters windows shattered the broken glass covering the entire front entrance. the break-in happened on mission and 22nd streets. staff immediately call police when this happened and the suspect ran off. a police report has been filed. but staff it says it's unclear if this was directed at their campaign or just about overall crime in general. but he says it does serve as one more example of how break-ins and crime as small businesses around town is a big topic that voters are worried about calling it intimidation that he and the people of san francisco should not stand we heard over and over again from businesses.

>>welcome back. i'm stephanie rothman. new developments tonight in the case battled san jose city councilman omar torres. he's facing child crime allegations. and earlier this week he was asked to be excused for his absence from meetings for 30 days. a fellow council member says he wants to do everything he can remove him from office. cough or shock moment has the very latest. >>now, if omar torres does get his absence request approved by city council, there's no telling how long he could hang on to his city council seat for city charter states. he

has to have 5 unexcused absences before he could be removed from his seat. right now he's at 0 unexcused absences. that's why i spoke earlier today with councilmember bn one about how he's trying to change the city charter to make it easier to push out people like omar torres in the future. this is not good for our community. this is not good for our city is not good for. >>for anyone in the city, especially people who have children. councilmember be antoine from district 7 was the first councilmember to call for his colleague and battled councilmember omar torres to resign. >>he's also the only representative to vote no on torres. this request to be excused from an earlier city council meeting. he had lost all the trust from the community, the workers, the businesses in the city of san jose. >>and i don't think we should have a council member that represent our community in that fashion. torres will need 5 unexcused absences to be removed from office. councilmember one says that's too long of a wait. and i think that we will look at every possible avenue within

their debt to society. the brothers were convicted of fatally shooting their parents in 1989 after years of alleged abuse by their dad. jose menendez, lyle and erik claim their lives were in danger and that their parents, jose and kitty menendez wanted to kill them to cover up the alleged abuse. there were 2 trials. the first one ended in a hung jury. the second a first-degree murder conviction with no parole. the menendez brothers legal team asked prosecutors to take a second look at this high profile case with newly surfaced evidence like a letter eric wrote to his cousin detailing the alleged abuse before the murder. >>also, a former member of the boy band menudo came forward alleging jose menendez as a music executive at rca records sexually abused him when he was just 14 years old. we're going to recommend to the court. >>they had the life without the possibility of parole be removed. and they will be sentence for murder. because there are 2 murders involved
