in san francisco are investigating 2 stabbings. that all happened in one day. they say the latest one happened on a muni bus this evening in the city's richmond district. they say they found a man with stab wounds in the area of gary boulevard and 14th avenue. he was taken to the hospital. police say no arrests have been made. and earlier this afternoon, a man was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed in the city's tenderloin neighborhood. that the stabbing happened near o farrell and high streets. nowhere tonight on a suspect in this incident either. but investigation is underway. and new details tonight on a deadly overnight crash in santa clara county. 2 people were killed after the chp says 2 cars crashed into each other head-on. and one of them was a 9-1-1. dispatcher kron four's lindsay for spoke with her friend about how she dedicated her life to helping others. >>and overnight tragedy in santa clara county, 2 people dead from a head-on crash on highway. 25 near gilroy. the

bay area. but here's long-range forecast. models will be taken to tie me up. we do have another storm system rolling in right there as we head in toward early on halloween morning. rain coming into the bay area. snow to the north, the shasta parts of the sierra nevada as well. that kind of sweeps on by and then right behind it. a quick moving system possibly drops late friday night early into saturday to bring another round of rain. and that could be some significant, significant rain around the bay area. so rain amounts maybe near couple inches in northern california here in the bay area. maybe about a half an inch more than that in the santa cruz mountains. temperatures for tomorrow. not bad. the cooler than they've been 60's. maybe a couple low 70's well inland and the next couple days as we get ready for this week ahead, we've got cooler temperatures on the chilly overnight lows in the 40's for most a chance of some showers on the halloween and a chance again as we head toward the weekend. >>and australian tourists who killed a bay area couple while driving on the wrong side of the road has been sentence.

luke samuel nardini was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on highway 84 near la honda. that was back in september of 2023. he crashed his car head-on into another vehicle, killing 18 year-old linda and jack davis. their dna trial was called off after the australian accepted a plea deal for vehicular manslaughter. his defense noting in austrailia where nerdy is from that they drive on the opposite side of the road. he's now sentenced to serve 60 days in county jail and speak in front of 3 high schools about bad driving. he'll begin serving his time on november. 1st. the city of san jose's new police chief paul joseph has officially started his new job, although he's been work as interim chief since april, joseph has been part of the san jose police department since 1994 serving on the homicide unit, the robber union and as assistant chief for the last 30 years. and just in time for the upcoming holiday season, new federal rules are now in effect requiring airlines to

traders and oil markets in general have been watching for very closely. iran produces about 4% of the world's oil. so this is kind of a big deal and the fact that israel gave iran a pass at least as far as oil goes. well, that's at least a plus for energy markets. and now let's take a look at this. mcdonald's customers have been complaining for a long time that whenever they go to a restaurant, the ice cream machine is broken. well, there's apparently a reason for this. there are digital locks on the mcflurry machines that prevent the franchisees for making repairs. apparently only the manufacturer of the machines. a company called taylor could open those locks and make the repairs. and it just well didn't do that in a timely fashion. but that's now changed. beginning today, a copyright exemption is taking effect allowing the franchisees to unlock the machines themselves and to make the repairs. consumer advocates had sought that exemption because of the all the complaints, it got so egregious that there was even a website mcbroken com to track broken mcflurry machines. back to you.

of crimes. gop state senator roger says prop 36 is needed noting it will not just go after retail thieves, but will also increase drug treatment resources for nonviolent drug offenders. it's going to provide the ability to get them into treatment and it appears a vast amount of californians agree just last week. this poll from the public policy institute of california shows 73% of likely california voters support the measure. but governor gavin newsom does not. if i thought this was good, i csb supported. he believes several counties are not prepared to implement drug treatment programs. of that, he's concerned prompt. 36 could lead to mass incarceration. >>a fast track to state prison hunterdon. 1000. plus one in 10, 20, $30,000 a that the taxpayers will bear with no real outcome being, you know, the outcomes being some optimal results of state prison for nonviolent possession of drugs. i can't good conscience support it.

complex marks the first of its kind in california. >>what used to be an empty lot. will now serve as a home for 17 families right after the pandemic. our scholars were telling us that their biggest issue was access to safe and affordable housing. because of that, they decide that they just need to get out into the workforce. lori bar is the co-founder and ceo of the nonprofit raised the bar. the organization's goal is to increase opportunities for single parents, students and provide support as the complete higher education. and they are doing just that with these homes. we discovered that there are several other models out there, but none that we're doing work or none that existed in the state of california working alongside local colleges and universities, including sacramento. state document of state has one of the largest single parent populations of all of the schools in california. rent will be based on the student's income. each

can see things kind of settling down around the state. still a couple of scattered showers in the high country. the bay area, though, looking good so far. but the winds, yeah, we've kind of had a brisk wind going. we've seen some gusts to 30 miles an hour in spots, even in san francisco. a little earlier today. things will again pick up, i think with the winds as we head throughout the night tonight low pressure begins kick to the east of us and we're going to get more of a northerly wind overnight tonight. so that wind is going to get going a bit that's going to be breezy in spots. you see here on the forecast models. we take you through the night and watch the directions. you can see all of a sudden starts coming. northerly component to the winds start to kick up around 4.30, in the morning. look toward half moon bay getting some gusts of 30 miles an hour. and then you'll be in another special over the north bay mountains. some of the stronger gusts begin move over. the mountain tops atlas. peak say molina probably going to see some very gusty winds there. 30 plus miles per hour down below, not as gusty but will be a brisk afternoon around the bay area. then those winds calm down as we head toward tomorrow night. the meantime, though, yeah, that's what we're looking at. as far as the forecast watch
