here. but something we like to say in october and into early november, seeing some rain as always. a welcome sight. now here's a live shot of half moon bay. little bit dark for. yeah. well, it won't be this time tomorrow. yes, the time change is coming tonight. so we're actually gonna get little extra hour of sleep first for tonight. here's a look at stormtracker not much to see. the highway is open for new systems and we'll be talking a little bit about that. we're expecting another one to drop in here by the middle of the week. unfortunately, that's going to be dry. it's on the backside of that. there were worried about maybe potentially some offshore winds developing with that. meanwhile, let's take quick tour with our temperatures. not much to see mostly mid-fifties across the region. obvious with all rain event that already occurred. temperatures are pretty uniform across the region does have some chilly 40's. meanwhile, up north, but i see chilly a little bit more mild than we saw from this time yesterday with clear and drier air work there. you can see some half-dozen degrees ahead. so for the next few hours, breezy developing that way. certainly for today, turning

mostly sunny with temperatures pretty much in the 50's for this morning in a bit. we'll take a look and what it looks like for your weekend forecast. a funny. >> okay. thank you. well, lines went out the door at walnut creek city hall. check this out. one of many polling sites that opened up in advance of election day. some waiting close to an hour to vote in person. we spoke with people eager to cast their ballots. >> from the last election that there's not much safety in our voting and i just would feel better. you make me a little more comfortable knowing that i got my voting. is that extra weight to it in person? want to make sure they get out there and get get my vote. come right away. maybe since i've been voting the most important election thought that i was going to beat the long lines on election day. looks like this line but it's just as >> county officials said they're seeing unprecedented turnout rates and set up additional polling booths to keep up with demand. statewide. millions of californians have already cast

their ballots. capitol correspondent eytan wallace brings us a breakdown of early returns so far. >> yeah, statewide. we're talking more than 6 million ballots cast so far. it's been about 4 weeks since county elections offices sent ballots to every registered voter in california. the 22.0, 5 million registered voters in the state about 6.3 million have cast their ballot coming up to a turnout rate thus far of about 28%. those figures coming directly from political data, inc or pdi, a non-partisan voter information service tracking ballots and voter trends. things are looking as we expect we paul mitchell is vice president of p i. >> he notes of the ballots cast so far about half are from registered democrats just under a 3rd are from registered republicans and roughly 20% are from no party preference voters. but now that in-person early voting centers have opened across the state. mitchell says gop

voters are increasing their turn out. the vot person are much more republican than the overall voting population so far. and so that is potentially a signal that a lot of republicans like they have since 2020 are wanting to vote in person rather than using the vote by mail regardless of party. one of the striking trends he's seeing so far older californians are out voting younger, california more young people and seniors in the registered voter population. but when you look at who's turned in 44% of the bounce and comment of come the ballots that have come in have come from younger voters. those 18 to 35 mitchell says he's also seeing similar trends among latino voters while they make up about one-third of all registered voters in the state, fewer than 20% of the ballots cast so far from that demographic. looking ahead, mitchell says the best plan for any california who has not yet voted simply to have a plan. >> there's actually been a lot of research on this. if you want to make sure that yourself and your friends and

your family vote is tell yourself what your plan is and get your friends and family to tell you what their plan is. one, somebody expresses a plan to vote their chances of turning out skyrockets. >> and a reminder you can bring your completed ballot to an official drop-off location like this one or you can send it back in the mail. but this is key. you must sign and date the back of the return envelope for your vote to count reporting in tom wallace kron 4 news. >> a new poll finds a number of californians still undecided about how they'll vote on a ballot measure to increase the state minimum wage. if approved, prop 32 would increase the statewide minimum wage from $16 and $0.50 an hour. $2.18, by 2026. but according to a poll released by the la times and uc berkeley, this 47% of likely voters support the measure. 39% are opposed and another 14% are undecided. the proposition needs more than 50% approval to pass.

>> is seen uptick voters joining the republican party. >> statewide over the summer months, the gop picked up more than 140,000 voters. a bit of traction. republicans are making is with asian voters as kron four's. brian entin reports. it's something we're seeing in san francisco. >> there's a special kind of energy here in san francisco's china town. that's they're hosting a monthly market that's quickly becoming a new tradition in the making. a lovely town hoping she can break a longstanding tradition in the democrat dominant city by being elected. san francisco's mayor as a republican. >> i've been in 7 open 30, a s i don't want government to keep even the oldest out. candidacy is a long shot. the grand old party is making inroads with the area's asian community.

community started waking up. we're single-digit party were outnumbered and nearly 8 to one by the by the democrats. head of the san francisco gop. john dennis is casting a wide net to change that. >> statewide over the summer months, the democrat party lost nearly 6,000 registered voters while the republican party picked up 146,000 the bay area. a bit of that stream asians. the democrat party, particularly san francisco. a party focused on victims and the chinese community in the community. one of the victims they want achieve the american dennis's violence against the asian community has some democratic voters looking for other options. and we have been lucky to have been able to have fielded a number of asian americans on the ballot. and that's been really important thing in terms of growing a party when i started my campaign said you can't. >> as a republican win any office here, period. so you can just forget it. that's the in chain got as a republican running for san francisco

oakland and its owners have been convicted of illegal vehicle towing and tax evasion, private property impound and its owners will pay nearly $500,000 in restitution to victims whose cars were towed illegally. defendants who pled no contest, more than $300,000 in back taxes da pamela price promise to deliver financial relief to those affected. the claims process will soon be in place for the victims. a former hotel is now serving the san jose community as an affordable housing complex for young adults. city officials celebrated the grand opening of the sunrise pavilion on fore street friday morning location offers more than 40 supportive housing units for residents at risk of homelessness. >> billion more waves saying care about you. we want you to see. we want you achieve your goal. potential.

during the first week of daylight. saving likely because more people are driving drowsy. this also means more sun glare during the early commute and darkness during the evening drive home. important reminder to stay safe on the roads. at an annual report card on bay area roads and streets as there was no change in overall pavement. conditions across the last several years, even though some cities did make improvements, this report comes from the metropolitan transportation commission. they rated the 9 county bay area region pavements. they raided condition of those pavement across those 9 bay area counties. >> they raided a 67 out of 100. this is a three-year moving average. it's the 9th straight year. the region's roads have register that average score of 67. >> it sounds like more improvements need to be made. >> meantime, live look outside at 7.14 this morning. beautiful look from our mount tam camera can see the city of san francisco in the right hand side of your screen just looking so pretty at this look, and i and andy here and

that cloud cover starting to peel away. good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. >> and breezy, that's expect to the day today coming from the right direction in terms of coming on shore a little bit northwesterly. >> going to have an offshore when pop happening tomorrow. not good. but we've had this rain. so we have insulation, no problem. so it will become a little drier. and we'll be talking a little bit about that. so let's put this all together for you today. it's clearing breezy mild. 70 ish is pretty much what you can expect tomorrow. offshore winds cooking here continued in the 70's, which will do into next week. winds return midweek. but by that point, drive some of the system to watch out for lower 70's. so lets get through this on future cast for to some unfinished business here. as you can see, we get that daytime heating and we see some scattered clouds trying to re cover up the skies a little bit. paint the skies a bit. and that just as the water evaporating producing some local clouds, no big deal that goes away and will stay mostly sunny as we go into tomorrow as well. so looking good, you can see all the way till overnight. now back to

those winds little bit onshore. still continuing all day today and then there's a little bit of a switch that happens by sunday. here. they offshore. and if we didn't have a rain event and just saw this, this will be a problem. but that looks good. no wind advisory with this. one of the reasons why doesn't last for long as you can see and kind of goes away. but there is offshore wind popped is a more potent one coming our way into next week. have to watch. but what's behind all of that? but just look at these numbers. 50's. you expect that in the morning hours and as we get to sunday morning, this is in the morning hours. big differences. you'll notice got 40's for dew points. so that tells you drier air, humidity because humidities continued on those temperatures. the matter about temperatures. this is absolute measurement of moisture in the air. so the lower the number you got drier air going forward into monday morning. this is the morning hours of 03:00am. and there you have 30's on the board. so we do dry out a little bit with this and the drying process, by the way, absorbs heat even still it looks like

we're looking at warmer numbers still happening tomorrow, which is kind of interesting. all right. here's what's going on today. 6 francisco at 63 cool and sunny, sunny, breezy oakland, 65. this is again today and 68. meanwhile, 4 san jose and most are neighbors. temperatures holding pretty much into the 60's. going to getting more of that as we come up little bit later on in the kind of regional forecast there for you. so stuffing not a bad weekend in store for us today. maybe got falling shy. the 70's will do that tomorrow. warming up a little bit. and then it got to watch those offshore winds to get more into that coming up in a bit. ok, great. thanks so much. there. >> a recent comments from the speaker of the house has reignited concerns that affordable but the affordable care act could be at risk. our washington correspondent raquel martin explains. >> the future of the affordable care act also known as obamacare is on the ballot. this election access to health care should be a right and not just to publish those who can afford. vice president kamala harris is campaigning to protect the federal health

care program and warns her opponent, former president donald trump would try to repeal it. he's made dozens of attempts to get rid of the affordable care act. and now we have further validation monday, republican speaker of the house mike johnson was recorded telling supporters in pennsylvania massive health care reforms are in the works. they are lying to the people friday. he denied accusations he's trying to scrap the aca but is never. >> not our position. it's not on the bingo card at all. on the campaign trail, trump has said he will keep the affordable care act laws. he can create a better option if we can do better, meaning less expensive and better health care for you. matthew fiedler, a healthcare policy expert says the lack of details >> is likely on purpose some of that is intentional in the sense that i think many of these proposals. >> you know, were fairly unpopular back in 2017 and they don't necessarily want to be explicit about it during trump's first term, beeler says republicans push plans

this requirement coming as the cold and flu season arrives michael thomas reports. >> these mask mandates are mainly just for health care workers and only throughout flu season. however, some counties are requiring that visitors and patients mask up as well. face masks must be worn inside hospitals and other health care facilities and skilled nursing homes to prevent the spread of the flu and coronavirus. these mandates are being applied in alameda contra costa, napa, san mateo and santa clara counties with both san mateo and santa clara, also requiring visitors to mask up as well. and in places like santa clara county patients will also be required to mask up during their stay. there are very limited exceptions. and those exceptions are only in a few counties and really only apply to young children. keep in mind, san francisco solano and sonoma county are not included in these mandates as we get more from county officials will continue to keep you updated. that's a very latest here in the newsroom. i'm michael thomas will send it back to you live in the studio. >> all right. still ahead on

u.s. department of commerce. they announced friday that the bay area has been selected sonny bill to be specific. >> that's where the federal government is going to work on building out and hq for headquarters, rather for national semiconductor technology. this facility will focus on research and development on semiconductors such as chip design, hardware, security and ship system architecture. now for those who may not be in the know semiconductor, the chip devices used in technology like computers, cell phones and other electronics. santa clara county holds 20% of all semiconductor utility patents granted in the last decade. so we are certainly a hub of innovation here in the bay area, a 55 million dollars is being invested in the country's first ever electric ferry fleet. it will be based right here in the bay area. the federal grant goes towards building a 0 emission fleet that serves the same stops as the sf bay ferry. these are images of what those new ferries are going to look like. the port of san francisco says it will

accelerate a new standard for clean ferries nationwide. this project will and these will serve as a training ground for ferry workers as well. >> and finally, and maybe most importantly, also it's investing in future maritime mariners and project developers in that crafts that will support our growing maritime fleet in the green technology that is coming and it is supporting our future workforce and they stand right there today to be part of our very, very important celebration. >> the port of san francisco says these new ferries will arrive in twenty-twenty 6. they say the aim is to reduce carbon emissions and reduce bay area traffic. >> and barr is now installing new fare gates at the polish treat station in san francisco. the agency says this will happen in phases so that riders can still use the current gates while the new ones are being put in each new day will take around 2 weeks

to complete it. the project should wrap up around december. >> the agency says it has finished installing the new fare gates and 9 other stations. the goal is to put new gates and all 50 bart stations by the end of the year. next year, rather a kron 4 is your election headquarters and 3 days made just a few days left until the election. that doesn't mean it is crunch time on the presidential campaign trail. >> we take a look at how the 2 candidates are fighting for the white house.

have it. no delays being reported this morning which could see some fog off towards the distance of the hills. back to what storm trackers telling us in at a couple little pieces of drizzle out there. just a touch. but most of the range you can see is moving out of the way, including the cloud cover. so lots of sunshine coming your way. here's uniformity with the temperatures. mostly 50's on the boys. you can see some cool 40's. meanwhile, up north got 46 in sonoma, for example, the petaluma already a 52 or 50 as well. should say 45 for santa rosa at this hour. forecast highs today. it's going to be pretty much mid to upper 60's is what we're expecting here. and we're gonna warm that up a little bit more so tomorrow, which is kind of an accomplishment because this air coming in is going to be dry and drying tends to cause some cooling. so the sun is going to help us out a little bit with that 50's for the most part for the next few hours until we start to warm up a little bit this afternoon and breezy sort take a little break for a couple of days. middle of the week starts to get interesting. here is we have another system that appears to be dry. it's

the offshore winds to watch out for have more on that forecast a bit. stephanie. >> dave, thank you. developing story in the east bay, more fallout over the alleged public intoxication of an alameda city council member. some city leaders are now taking sides on this issue. it all began when police responded to calls of an intoxicated woman outside of a bar in long beach body cam footage shows the officers finding alameda city council member trish herrera, spencer on the ground and some city leaders. they argue that the city council member needs to be reprimanded. kron four's jeff moment reports on this. >> you've heard it long. beach police body camera footage shows the moment when officers found alameda city council member. trish, however, spencer outside a bar, you can see she's on the ground and after police say she was denied entry to a bar for being too drunk, her name tag still around her neck from a convention earlier that you know, i was in long beach for

the league of california for new city's annual conference. the mayor of alameda was also at that same convention in october and says she found out about the incident next day. you know, first, i just felt a lot of sadness for my council colleagues in then disappointments, mayor marilyn ezzy ashcraft says she has not heard from councilmember spencer since the incident but has now written a letter to be read at the next city council meeting to publicly reprimand spencer. >> over her conduct in long beach after going to a conference paid for by taxpayers. >> really the the first step in a in a process calling to the attention of a council member that their behavior was not in accordance with the city council code of conduct. councilmember herrera, spencer argues she was not drunk, but rather was attacked and even potentially could cost a statement provided to kron 4 news by the council members, friend reads, quote, the videos showing trish at the scene of the incident and that

the er do not provide any consistent evidence with intoxication. >> they are just as consistent with a concussion and other injuries that would produce shock. the council member also claims her jewelry was stolen vote. you can see her wearing some of it in the video. she also struggles to answer basic questions and through some slurred speech repeatedly says she spina frankly, my first thoughts are, you know, maybe with order is compassion. vice mayor tony day sot says there isn't enough evidence to say she's drunk and even says she may have suffered a stroke despite none of the officers on scene running any stroke assessments, this raise any suspicion on your mind. my focus is simply on on the issue of whether or not intoxication. >> i was involved. we also reached out to councilmember spencer to find out if she filed a police report based off her claim that she had jewelry stolen we were told by her representative got no report has been filed as of yet. we are also told she's not expected to be at this upcoming city council meeting were her fellow council

members may vote to reprimand reporting here in alameda jacmel. but kron 4 news. >> a federal jury has convicted a former kentucky police detective involved in the death of breonna taylor. the 26 year-old taylor. she died back in 2021. louisville police forced entry into her home and opened fire a friday night. a 12 member jury from brett hankinson guilty of violating taylor's civil rights. they consume was also accused of open firing during the 2020 raid. he was not charged with shooting and killing taylor. this is the first conviction of a louisville police officer involved in that deadly raid. they can send faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. those police chief is stepping down at the end of the year town. officials say alan shields plans to return to the contra costa sheriff's office where he will retire. shields has served as down those police chief since 2017. before that he was with the sheriff's office, which contracts with the danville police department. he was there for 25 years. sheriff's

lieutenant thomas rosberg succeeds shields as the town's next police chief. >> a top 4 is your election headquarters. a few days until the election means it is crunch time on the presidential campaign trail on thursday. vice president harris and former president trump rallied in wisconsin the same county less than 7 miles apart. this in an effort to sway undecided voters on the weekend before election day. supporters of former president trump showing their support for the nominee. they flew trump flags as you can see there and banners friday afternoon above highway. 24 in lafayette. >> our goal is to let. voters know that there are people in the bay area. it's a part the america first make health make america healthy again. trump. for president number. 47, like the coalition of people that are focused on making americans. if people great again.

>> in an exclusive interview with kron 4 former house speaker nancy pelosi spoke about the race for the white house and control of congress. for charles clifford reports. >> in a feeling pretty good. i've been in almost a different city every day. >> on friday, u.s. representative and former speaker of the house nancy pelosi spoke exclusively with kron 4 about the upcoming election. she says she's optimistic about vice president harris, his chances of winning the white house and about democrats doing well in the house of representatives and the senate. there's great activism to get out the for me as a former chair of california. it's all about. >> owning the ground. it's all about mobilizing to get out the and that was what we see happening we have the message from wonderful candidate for president. we have to win the house and we will run the democrats will win the house when we the white and put the

label when the senate as pelosi also responded to recent comments made by former president trump in which he suggested that liz cheney should be threatened with violence. >> she's a radical war hawk. let's put her with a rifle standing there with 9 barrel shooting at are ok, let's see how she feels about it. you know, when the guns, a trader face. >> something must be wroeg with him that he thinks that that's ok. and if he thinks that there's market for such language that he's really doing an injustice to american people and frankly insulting the intelligence of his own supporters. they don't want people having guns pointed to the faces someone who disagrees with them. i think that he has demonstrated very clearly that he has no in san francisco. charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> and if you one of those folks who doesn't really want to be getting all the information about the

>> upcoming election. getting too many text messages to many e-mails from the different campaigns. you're not alone. a lot of people. they are saying they're being inundated with those text messages from candidates. so the sec says if you are getting tax that you didn't ask for, you can report the sender by forwarding those tax to 7, 7, 2, 6 or spam political campaigns are supposed to honor your request if you want opt out of those text messages by replying by texting, stop. but if you do that, you could inadvertently be allowing more robocalls to come to your cell phone. some experts say. >> you tell a group to stop contacting you. they know that there's a live human being on the other side of that. it's not just a dead number and then they sell your number to another group or perhaps many other groups because now that they know that this is a real number with somebody who's reading the message, it's worth a lot of money to them. >> so instead of texting stopped and those calls experts, they suggest just blocking the number on your phone. for information on the

>> hey, good morning. welcome back in. here's a live shot coming in of a bay bridge. checking things out. as you can see most the rain is the part of the already just this afternoon. maybe some scattered clouds to some daytime heating. that's about it. so off to a pretty good start. we can swing things around a little bit and check and see how things look along the east bay shoreline, where is little bit of haze just like you see here? little that case. kind of hang on. just a touch here as well. they are. but you can see some blue skies above that. so rain was all timed perfectly with all this coming in late today. yesterday overnight. now it's time it's don clearing on out going to mostly sunny in the sierra. some leftover snow there. meanwhile, 42 on sunday monday at 50. so can have that winter's chill, but a nice little pop in temperatures moving up nicely. as you can see back the winds we keep talking about. there is northwesterly wind expected this afternoon. but interesting enough, they'll be an offshore wind starts to develop into sunday afternoon, which that's kind of odd with ground like this offshore wind

like that with dry air, you tend to get some extra cooling with that. but still, the forecast models are telling us a little warmer than today, even though those conditions remain in place. so it's kind of fighting against physics a little bit there doesn't last for long. the wind advisory tonight with that with that. but longer-range, let's talk about that now. we already had this system move on through. here comes another one. notice these winds. let's go forward here. here. you have pop right there. offshore winds develop midweek. that's gonna be a couple days for us to dry out. and it looks like they'll be some dry air with us for maybe a good 48 hours are a little bit longer than that. that extends all the way towards the coast. so something that bears watching now, national weather service is looking at this. they're somewhat confident will be ok because of this rain that we've had recently to kind of moisten things up a little bit. but that is the scenario really want to watch out for when you have dry conditions with a low sliding right in like that, ok, your forecast highs today. 64 will try san francisco to

political landscape is becoming more charge than ever. joining us live now with some perspective on some of the big local and national races is political analyst michael yaki. good morning to you. morning, stephanie. okay. so the mail-in ballots are obviously out early. in-person voting kicks off in many spots this weekend. what kind of messaging do you see both campaigns pushing as we head towards tuesday? >> well, its really all about trying to get the undecideds and the people who are. for the harris campaign, the likely or lean republican to. are in independent category that they want to try and bring back the hair is part of the biden coalition 2020 it with trump, you're going to see the mammary back and forth on me. sabal pima, a very effective team of are you better off than you were 4 years ago? you he really he would like, you know, where where prices are, those kinds of things, anything to take the message what to harris is

doing, which is to say if you are going to consider voting for trump, you you really it's gambling with democracy and freedom in america, which essentially what would work or messages from these cats few days. >> well, this does feel like a neck and neck race. so walk us through with the latest polling is showing which states you think which candidate each candidate can stand to win. >> well, i i think that all of the 7 swing states, wisconsin, michigan, pennsylvania, north carolina, georgia, arizona. they're all wisconsin. they're all within the margin of error. so just becomes essentially a a turnout game and and be persuade the last minute. what happens when you go into that safety of the polling booth, you for a lot of information about how many people have early voting. we know one of the questions is from the democratic side, they're saying what the early

voting republicans essentially voting day. people who are excited to vote early and trade, skip lines. and you still don't know with a mail-in ballot. it's going to be like and that's going to be, i think, going to be the real. test an election eyes. how many ballots are still outstanding because they were mail-in. is there going to be is there really going to be red mirage or blue shift like there was last time or not. that's really get. that's really where we're going to see how elections are going to be called. you're going to states like georgia move a little bit faster because they they are allowing people start counting earlier. many did for pennsylvania's fence of a new the same thing. they're going to be. they're going to be some earlier challenge every michigan, i'm sorry survey recent earlier counts we had last time. so there is a slight chance. a veteran flight. they will know sometime late november 5th, the or early november 6. you

know who's going to win the election? otherwise we're going to be sitting here and again watching the numbers come in, watching people trying to figure out what your outstanding, where they're coming from. and then it's, you know, it's prolonged like it was until last told the saturday after the election as it was in 2020. >> both candidates, of course, continuing to make some pretty big headlines as we head closer to election day. you walk us through your perspective here, of course, how many how would you say those recent events and developments have shaped the campaign strategies of the candidates and potentially their impression on the american public. >> i think that the biggest tumble for donald trump was the madison square garden rally having people on the dias, you know, for example, call puerto rico floating floating island garbage, which for major puerto rican populations swing state in a swing state like pennsylvania could be all the difference. you had joe biden kind of

stumble with. you know, it's whether it's apostrophe or whatever possibly calling trump supporters garbage. i don't think that has as much impact as it as it has. the rally to the rally was a service of steam diatribe out of race and decide me racism and misogyny that was going on for hours. and when the speed means became a trump, he did nothing to take it away. so that i think is going to be that is going to be the sort of the critical moment between now and now election day. is that going to have an impact on? sort of the week trump supporters, the independence as they make up their mind because to get, you know, even though lots of people voted early, but the majority of americans are going to be voting on tuesday. >> michael, how important would you say social media is in shaping voter opinions this year and what strategies have

you seen that candidates have been using to engage those younger voters? both at the local and national levels. >> well, which actually see is is people like elon musk, for example, using twitter as a complete platform for donald trump and he's trying to they're trying to go for essentially the 20 the 21 18 to 29 year old male population who historically terrible voters. but nevertheless, every vote is every vote for them. is. and i the campaigns rather precious at this point. so you see, you see actually, i think the independent expenditures working social media, even harder and the candidates themselves. yeah, this is really people who are devoted to it. people who are addicted to instead or snap or whatever, they're all. they're essentially silent in their echo chambers. and now the echo chambers just for the drive them to the polls. that's why you see musk, you know, and he's 1 million dollar lottery scheme

registration scheme. you have basically x becoming the complete platform donald trump. you harris working facebook, instagram and other and what sort of a targeted media you know, call me the idea was that the kind kind cast out appealed to to boaters all. this is all a game of margins right now and it's the margin of it could be the margin of 1000 to 2000 voters per state that could decide this election that clothes? you could i think that this is going to be closer. the 2020 and when you consider that george was a 10,000 vote edge of a new as 80,000 commissioner 50 cut. those in half or even more. including either way. and that could be that could be the decision that the germans, who's the president of the united states come january 20?

far as upstream, there's more traffic to be had from the gulf of alaska. that's going to be the middle of the week. something to be watched. it's not going to bring us really any rain. maybe some scattered clouds, but a pop of offshore winds is what we expect. meanwhile, back those temperatures pretty much universally in the 50's are uniformly has got some 40's going up on north here a little bit here, but not a lot of variety in temperatures and that'll be the case for highs today, too. quick comparison for you. some happen doesn't degrees head in many spots where we were from this time yesterday, even though temperatures will stay pretty much in the 60's for highs. so we got 50's for the next few hours here turning mostly sunny, although breezy, but there will be an onshore wind. we do expect a pop of offshore winds tomorrow being that that dry air with the wet surface. usually that cools us off a little bit. but it looks like we may be a couple degrees warmer on that front, are going to walk through what you can expect for this weekend coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you.

>> and what out the door at walnut creek city hall, which was one of many polling sites that opened up in advance of election day. some waited close to an hour to vote in person. we spoke with people eager to cast their ballots. >> from the last election that there's not much safety in our voting and i just would feel better. you make me a little more comfortable knowing that i got my voting. is extra weight to it in person? want to make sure they get out there and get my vote. come right away. maybe since i've been voting the most important election thought that i was going to beat the long lines on election day. looks like this line is but it just does love. >> and county officials said they are seeing unprecedented turnout rates and they even set up additional polling booths to keep up with demand. a statewide. millions of californians have already cast their ballots. capitol correspondent eytan wallace has a breakdown of early returns so far.

>> yeah, statewide. we're talking more than 6 million ballots cast so far. it's been about 4 weeks since county elections offices sent ballots to every registered voter in california. the 22.0, 5 million registered voters in the state about 6.3 million have cast their ballot coming up to a turnout rate thus far of about 28%. those figures coming directly from political data, inc or pdi, a non-partisan voter information service tracking ballots and voter trends. things are looking as we expect we paul mitchell is vice president of p i. >> he notes of the ballots cast so far about half are from registered democrats just under a 3rd are from registered republicans and roughly 20% are from no party preference voters. but now that in-person early voting centers have opened across the state. mitchell says gop voters are increasing their turn out. the voters voting in person are much more republican than the overall voting population so far. and

so that is potentially a signal that a lot of republicans like they have since 2020 are wanting to vote in person rather than using the vote by mail regardless of party. one of the striking trends he's seeing so far older californians are out voting younger, california more young people and seniors in the registered voter population. but when you look at who's turned in 44% of the bounce and comment of come from seniors and only 13% of the ballots that have come in have come from younger voters. those 18 to 35 mitchell says he's also seeing similar trends among latino voters while they make up about one-third of all registered voters in the state, fewer than 20% of the ballots cast so far from that demographic. looking ahead, mitchell says the best plan for any california who has not yet voted simply to have a plan. >> there's actually been a lot of research on this. if you want to make sure that yourself and your friends and your family vote is, tell yourself what your plan is and get your friends and family to tell you what their plan is. one, somebody expresses a plan to vote their chances of

turning out skyrockets. >> and a reminder you can bring your completed ballot to an official drop-off location like this one or you can send it back in the mail. but this is key. you must sign and date the back of the return envelope for your vote to count reporting in tom wallace kron 4 news. >> a new poll finds a number of californians still undecided about how they'll vote on a ballot measure to increase the minimum wage if approved, prop 32 would increase the statewide minimum wage from $16 and $0.50 an hour. $2.18, by 2026. but according to a poll released by the la times and uc berkeley, this 47% of likely voters support this measure. 39% are opposed another 14% are undecided. the proposition needs more than 50% approval to pass. >> and california has seen an uptick in voters joining the republican party statewide over the summer months. the gop picked up more than

head of the san francisco gop. john dennis is casting a wide net to change that. >> statewide over the summer months, the democrat party lost nearly 6,000 registered voters while the republican party picked up 146,000 the bay area. a bit of that stream asians. the democrat party, particularly in san francisco. a party focused on victims and the chinese community in the nation's community. one of the victims they want achieve the american dennis's violence against the asian community has some democratic voters looking for other options. and we have been lucky to have been able to have fielded a number of asian americans on the ballot. and that's been really important thing in terms of growing a party when i started my campaign is that you can't. >> as a republican win any office here, period. so you can just forget it. that's the in chain got as a republican running for san francisco school board seat, a non-partisan position. people don't come up to me and say men, are you a republican democrat or something else? they just want to know.

>> welcome back, everybody. and look at that. could you tell we have rain last night? and there's a live view of san francisco going on in pretty clear shot already developing that tell you what you can expect for today. not bad for your november. temps are going to be pretty good to put on the cooler side. well, 60's going on today. get into the 70's tomorrow and much of the rest of the week. there you have a shot the bay bridge, the flag flapping around. it will do so today. we'll have some winds picking up. they're going to come more offshore. however, by the time we get to tomorrow's. but in this all together for you again today, clearing out, we've already done. so we are breezy mild, 70 ish going on in spots then

for tomorrow. we've got offshore winds, cook and continued in the 0's. and then as we get into next week, winds returning mid week. so that's where we got to really watch things by that point because this one this offshore, when pop tomorrow. so okay, we have insulation and even with that temperature, temperatures are still going to be on to manage into the 70's. but next week we're looking for after being dry for a couple days. another dry offshore wind event on top of that may pose bit of an issue with first things were ok at this point, but to be announced and watched for sure. futurecast doesn't have much to tell us maybe with some daytime heating might see some scattered clouds develop its evaporation that turns into some cloud cover. that's apit. just enough to paint the skies a little bit here. looks like we're ok as we cruise on into sunday again, do have some of those offshore winds to make note of let's get to those winds on shore. they are. but then there's the flip by tomorrow being offshore. there you have the big pop that starts to happen. those numbers. into the 20's. but

the thing is this doesn't last for long and it won't have a time to really dry us out because we've have a lot of this moisture at the ground level. so there isn't going to be a lot of dry time really 40, even though conditions will be dry. it won't be enough. and probably the most amazing thing about all this is our temperatures are going to hold because of apple of cooling rob's the ground of heat going forward through this we can get to that here. this is sunday in the morning and already fairly dry in the 40's. that's when your dew points should be the highest. and we're only in the 40's dropping through the 30's. even though we have this moisture, the ground and the winds keeping us dry, that goes all the way to monday morning's you can see 63 san francisco cool and sunny. 65 sunny and breezy in 68 san jose expected for a high most. the readings on here in the upper 60's and we'll bump that up a little bit by the time tomorrow. so coming up in a bit, we'll take a look at that longer range forecast for you. and, you know, with all that going forward we do have that

see she's on the ground and after police say she was denied entry to a bar for being too drunk, her name tag still around her neck from a convention earlier that you know, i was in long beach for the league of california for new city's annual conference. the mayor of alameda was also at that same convention in october and says she found out about the incident next day. you know, first, i just felt a lot of sadness for my council colleagues in then disappointments, mayor marilyn ezzy ashcraft says she has not heard from councilmember spencer since the incident but has now written a letter to be read at the next city council meeting to publicly reprimand spencer over her conduct in long beach after going to a conference paid for by taxpayers. >> really the the first step in a in a process of no calling to the attention of a council member that their behavior was not in accordance with the city council code of

conduct. councilmember herrera, spencer argues she was not drunk, but rather was attacked and even potentially concussed. a statement provided to kron 4 news by the council members friend reads, quote, the videos showing trish at the scene of the incident and that the er do not provide any consistent evidence with intoxication. >> they are just as consistent with a concussion and other injuries that would produce shock. the council member also claims her jewelry was stolen vote. you can see her wearing some of it in the video. she also struggles to answer basic questions and through some slurred speech repeatedly says she's fine with frankly. my first thoughts are, you know, maybe with an order is compassion. vice mayor tony day sot says there isn't enough evidence to say she's drunk and even says she may have suffered a stroke despite none of the officers on scene running any stroke assessments, this raise any suspicion on your mind. my focus is simply on on the issue of whether or not intoxication. >> i was involved. also

reached out to councilmember spencer to find out if she filed a police report based off her claim that she had jewelry stolen we were told by her representative got no report has been filed as of yet. we are also told she's not expected to be at this upcoming city council meeting were her fellow council members may vote to reprimand reporting here in alameda jacmel. but kron 4 news. >> a federal jury on friday convicted a former kentucky police detective in the death of breonna taylor. 26 year-old died in 2021. louisville police forced entry into her home and opened fire friday night. a jury found brett hankinson guilty of violating taylor's civil rights. it's an was also accused of open firing during that 2020 raid. he was not charged with shooting and killing taylor. this is the first conviction of a louisville police officer who was involved in that raid. hankison faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. those police chief is stepping down at the end of the year. officials say alan shields plans to return to the contra costa sheriff's office where

reflecting opening up the skies a bit. 44 42 on sunday because that colder air mass in place monday at about 50 now getting to these winds a little on the breezy side this afternoon and all this is a somewhat typical. once you have a little frontal system come through, we get this a lot in the fall. we come off of the dry summer. we get these little fronts that are coming through and usually in the autumn months, you don't have much in the way moisture work with. so that's why we have the onshore that bring some moisture in marine layer and all that. but what we get sometimes are these offshore winds later on. not so good post the front. and that's very typical. now, if you get rain like now we have the consolation of that that helps us out so we can handle this. no problem. that doesn't last for long either. but it will be windy in spots. as you can see, solano county, east bay going on here. this is tomorrow afternoon. by the way. and with all that service moisture kind of amazing, we're still going to see temperatures in the lower 70's probably out doing what we're going to see today. even with all that evaporation, no longer range, we're kind of

downtown >> have you been in touch with the victims families? how are they doing? >> yes, we have actually one of the parents came to visit from mexico. that hadn't been here since. you know, the tragic situation and today means so much to him because he's going to agree with the community. and be here as a collective to remember and honor the lives those that would last. and we've been in touch with all the families and every day actually is a day that they're remembering them in here today where honoring them even more. >> and walk us through how all us is working with the city of half moon bay and the victims affected by this to mark this year's day that the u.s. might us. >> yes, well, you know, we've been there alongside them through this whole process. and it's these moments of the anniversary, the of those

seeing the building of stone pine or housing for those that well, those that were part of the farm where the shooting happened, they will be living there and others. and then, of course, you're very familiar with work to build 505. kelly farmworker housing for seniors. so there's a lot of movement that's happening. thanks to supervisor mueller to city, haven't they? and he's so many advocating to make change. we are pushing this forward for do you see any challenges or barriers as still do stand in the way when it comes to farm worker across the board in the state. >> yes, we're really trying to advocate across california. and that's one of the things that we share is that this is not just a local issue. >> this is a state issue and we are working to make change with advocating for housing for immigrant rights, mental health, better increase in health care, access and more.

>> while we understand that you also do you also teach, i recall from our conversation last year over a san francisco state. yes, you work in the help with a mental health. >> treatments the university of san francisco. yes, yes. so walk us through. >> you know, the discussion that, you know, the story from last year has really spawned around the importance of mental health awareness and treatment for our farm workers and folks in the latino community. >> it's so important to recognize that mental health is always i need for, you know, our underserved community for latino community, communities of color. >> that's something that we're trying open access for. but one of the areas we have found in research working with usf working with stanford is that mental health for farm workers is such a big need and there's more that we have to do to make access happenign to go to them. so i we are going to the farms to take mental health.

we're whipping the model and doing it in new ways and for creating opportunities for research for academic presentations, conferences. also in collaboration with staffers who were taking this across the state. and actually across the country, women to washington, to present to you. so we're trying to make change an advocate for better access for mental health. it's such a need. lastly here, doctor, how can the public that support? >> the community of half moon bay and those who are still working to recover from this. >> wow. well, first of all of the bay area and beyond has just been a tremendous support. outpouring llevan so many different ways but definitely coming get involved with the different boards here on the coast side. you can always get involved with islas volunteer with has come out today toward the analysts. mike, those come and remember with in any way that you can get involved with their local community. we need your help and your tourism here to make
