some of the key races of this election season, including the next president of the united states in anticipation of possible disruption related to election results here at home. oakland police say it's stepping up patrols for election night and some business owners are taking matters into their own hands. kron four's lindsey ford has all the details. >>yes, driving through downtown oakland even the oakland city center. i saw all healthcare buildins, clinics and bodegas boarded up one resident telling me he's hoping for a peaceful night. >>proudly displaying and i voted sticker on his shirt. oakland resident eddie coach dropped off his ballot monday evening. we just back to courthouse. >>in the late it's place go it. >>while walking around downtown oakland, he took pictures of boarded-up storefronts. business owners taking precautions of

ahead. a possible civil unrest high to tomorrow's election. this includes washington state and oregon where drop boxes were recently set on fire. police are searching for the man in connection with those fires. but officials do say there's no current information to suggest unrest, but there is a lot of uncertainty and tension in these communities. another big story we're following tonight. is the weather taking a live look now from mount tam up highs where you can see san francisco looking all pretty a little bit of fog, but there is a red flag warning that's been issued for many parts of the bay area starting tomorrow morning com four's kathy trafton has more on what you can expect. kathy. >>a flag warning goes into effect tomorrow morning starting at 11 o'clock. it continues for a couple of days and is set to expire on thursday at 7. here's what's happening is we've got low relative humidity in the daytime as low as 15% relative humidity and then in the afternoon, as you know, it's going to be very, very low. so

that's the first concern. second concern, of course, for fire danger is the offshore winds. as you see wednesday, we've got pretty impressive that fire danger concerns and we'll show you exactly where the red flag warning is. it stretches all the way northward from las angeles. they at area all the way up toward the san francisco bay area. and here you go. it goes into effect tomorrow morning. and that is concern because it's really easy for fires to start. when you have low relative humidity and very, very gusty winds, how gusty some areas 55 mile per hour gusts. plus, if you go up to the higher which tops it could be even higher gusts. so that is a big concern and the offshore flow of these gusts of the gusts go from land to sea. and that is really what keeps things very, very dry. look at how the maps light up 50 mile per hour gust tomorrow and wednesday night. that is and looking areas of yellow and orange and red and magenta that is gusty wind. back to

you. thanks, kathy. and developing tonight in fremont, one person is dead after being hit by a car. >>police say it happened yesterday morning in the area of mission boulevard and a half drive. ey say the president was not using a stck and killed. the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. but police say drugs and alcohol were not factors. and as we would update on stopping in san francisco over the weekend, a man accused of stabbing a woman on bart train has been arrested. giovani bar taught us is behind unprovoked attack of a 54 year-old woman on saturday morning. police say it happened as the train approached a 24 street admission station. suspect got away. but on sunday afternoon, police did find him at the fruitvale bart station. the woman is currently in the hospital with serious injuries. now to county where police in benicia say they're looking for an arsonist. take

a look at this. you can see a security camera captured this person lighting several fires last month. police say the suspected arsonist set bush's and garbage cans on fire at the southampton shopping center. if you recognize this person, you're asked to contact a shia police. and the south bay, 13 schools could soon be closing. the san jose's alum rock union school district school officials are blaming the closures on declining student enrollment. lower birth rates and a steady loss of students to charter schools. they're also facing a 20 million dollar budget deficit. right now the district has about 8,000 students enrolled in its 21 campuses. and one school officials vote on a finalist by december. 2nd closures will take effect in the next school year. in the final push to election day. san francisco mayoral candidate mark farrell faces a fine of more $100,000. san francisco ethics commission is fining him

alleging that he illegally funded his campaign through a committee. he lost the support. yes on prop d they accuse barrel of 8 counts of violating the $500 limit on contributions to candidate committees. that fix commission says if this settlement gets approved, it would represent the largest penalty issued in the history of san francisco's at the commission. farrell released a statement in response to the fine calling the issue at hand and accounting error that has since been corrected. >>a lot more news for you r

>>just hours after a boat capsizes in bodega bay leaving one person dead and 3 others missing. authorities find another capsized boat. they say one of the men on board died and the other is still missing. kron four's rob nesbit reports. >>cruising the sonoma county sheriff's office, sonoma county fire district and coast guard are here at the bodega dunes. campground searching by air and by boat for 5 missing boaters. when search and rescue effort stop sunday night for 4 missing people from a capsized crab fishing boat. emergency responders could have never imagined that a second boat capsized monday morning. we were already out here. our marine unit was already here in the area because they were going to resume the search for the other 4 missing people from saturday's incident. >>so the good news is we were here very quickly. sadly, we

did find one person. and despite everybody's best efforts at person did not survive. and we're still looking for the second misti wood for the sonoma county sheriff's office says it's unclear if the boat that washed ashore from monday's incident was a crab fishing boat. but that crab fishing started over the weekend. the excitement of the season and a small craft advisory are 2 big contributing factors. the water conditions are very dangerous right now. the waves are really big. the water is really, really rough. yesterday was really windy. it's pretty tough conditions out there. saturday's boating incident involved 6 people, 3 adults and 3 children. one person was killed, but an 11 year-old boy managed to self rescue himself. according to sonoma county fire division chief cyndi foreman piece of ths that gets really challenging as hypothermia and some people can, you know, tolerate that a lot better than others can. and that young man, just can't imagine what he went through. rescue workers monday had crews searching by divers searching underwater and helicopters in the air all searching for any

>>and the south bay, thousands of people have already cast their ballots. but for those who have, the santa clara county registrar of voters is providing more information, how to make your vote count. here's kron four's justine law months conversation with steve goal. tl. and santa clara county. how many ballots have been returned so far? >>so far we've received 420,000 ballots from voters in the early voting. >>and how does that compare like? is that where you want to be on election eve? >>i mean, so we expect to about 80 to 85% of voters to turn out for this election. so as a right now, we're about halfway there. so we expect that the rest of over 400,000 voters and least to come and show up on election day tomorrow, 400,000 voters will come into santa clara county. >>voting centers tomorrow punch their ticket to have any advice for people who are voting for the first time,

especially. we know there's a lot universities and even high school students who have our people have never done this before. art, what can you tell them about what they need to know for tomorrow? >>if they need to check on their voters, that is they can go to voters that it's not. so it's not see a dugout to make sure that they're fully registered if they have any questions, feel free to come to any of our vote centers. we have over 100 106 of those centers located all throughout the county as well as our office is open for for business, take mail-in votes people that want to vote in person update their registration or registration. so people that are new to the county and they would like to vote here. they can come in and register and vote the same day. >>and on the ballot, not we know there's the presidential election. there's our state senate, but there's so many other of little local races, little local measures that have really big impacts. where can people do some research on different props and the candidates so they can make an informed vote.

kron 4 news second device. >>amazon announced the closure of its grocery fulfillment center in yolo county in september, affecting dozens of workers. there. but now we're learning this move is also leading to the end of a partnership with a local food bank reporter tony salazar's in woodland with a look at the impacts. >>was on closure of its fulfillment center in west sacramento. off ramos drive is impacting well over 100 employees. but now we're learning that it's also impacting the hundreds, if not thousands of hungry families who rely on this food bank right behind me. that is the yolo food bank. this follows a nearly 2 million dollar worth of food donations. this food bank would receive from amazon that now it's cut short. one way. the nonprofit is trying to overcome days. hardship is by expanding its partnership with ag farmers and seed companies to plant its own seasonal crops without having to rely completely on farmers for food donations. in the meantime, the food bank will continue to work with this 19

volunteer operated public distributions scattered around the county to feed thousands of families, food bank officials volunteering just a few hours or a day or even a few tame a few times out of the week. one of its distribution centers is a huge help, but its financial donationthey requested most because of their greater impact on feeding even more hungry families. you know, we distribute 9.6 million pounds of food every year. that we can get better kind contracts and prices with organizations like the big box stores and through our contracts with feeding america so we can stretch that dollar farther. >>food banks are a lifeline for food, insecure families, according to cycle, no one in 3 households are food insecure in one of the most impoverished counties here in the golden state food bank officials are also expecting even more families to come and wait in line at one of its 19 distribution centers. as winter is just around the corner, which also means tighter budgets for many

of the many things to watch on tuesday is the battle over election integrity. legal battles are breaking out in key swing states all over parts of the election system. news nation' elina shirazi explains. >>republicans and democrats are battling out in court filing a wave of election lawsuits in multiple states. they're challenging everything from cleaning up voter rolls to how ballots are cast and counted over the past year of the rnc has filed 135 lawsuits

across 26 states. the majority are concentrated in 7 battleground states. 93 electoral votes are up for grabs. the trump campaign suing this week in what many consider the most important swing state, pennsylvania. early voting in bucks county was extended after voters reported being turned away. a legal victory for the trump camp. the pennsylvania supreme court also ruled this week to shut down an effort to allow mail-in ballots without a handwritten date to be counted. and the 2024 election, another gop win and a group aligned with former president trump is reportedly also planning to sue over this year's election results. lawsuits from the group suggests widespread voter fraud could be happening without providing any evidence. >>i think those cases are indicative of this overall strategy, which is matter we got to get the wall strategy in challenging the integrity of our elections and examined twenty-twenty. they're getting a head start this time, but it's going to fail here as well. and the voters will

arrested in san jose accused of stealing 10's of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. san jose police say the man was part of 113 thefts at department stores across the city this year. all these incidents took place between march and this month. and one person is in the hospital after they drove their car into a light pole and fence in redwood city. police say it happened shortly before 05:00pm on monday. that's on goodwin avenue. the driver was unresponsive. when officers arrived, a passenger in the car was also injured. the fire department had to be called to pull the driver out of the car and no other vehicles were involved this. but they ask anyone with information to contact police.

charles clifford reports. remarkably no one was hurt. >>we'll here along highway 85 in cupertino. on monday, a small plane which you can see partially disassembled behind me here landed on 85. fortunately, no one was injured. >>according to the california highway patrol around 7.15, monday morning, a small two-seater plane with a single male occupant. the pilot made an emergency landing here along the southbound lanes of highway. 85 just south of stevens creek boulevard. the faa said in a statement to kron 4 that the plane is a cub crafters cc 1, 1, and that while the investigation is still ongoing, they believe the pilot was forced to land here because the plane ran out of fuel. the highway patrol says that's lucky that no one was injured. >>the fact that this the play was able land on the freeway. we did not have a crash where we had a, you know, playing. there's a vehicle is very fortunate. following the landing, the highway patrol reduced southbound 85 to one lane which backed up traffic

winds coming off the land coming really from north to south. at first, you'll see some of the stronger winds at this hour, the day cafe and also at half moon bay. and then we start to strengthen that. look at the colors on this map. we start to go into the reds and the oranges and magenta is 33 miles per hour for fairfield as the gusts. also in livermore. 33 watch as we strengthen to 50 mile an hour gusts in some areas, including fairfield napa, also in the magenta area. when you're in the higher elevations, those gusts are even stronger. so the future wind gusts are really going to be quite strong all the way through wednesday night. and finally, thursday, as that, that warning expires. that's winds start to die down. so we've got the offshore component of the win of the wind. and a lot of that has to do with the high pressure, bringing the winds from the north to the south and also area of low pressure is helping to type the pressure tighten the pressure gradient, which really contributes to all of those winds. so let's take a look now. high
