felt coming into the last few she was helping out quite a bit by making a lot of, you know, mistakes are self. >>we're not surprised that we're pleading. and, you know, 65, 30 35%. >>pryce took office in 2022. becoming the first african-american woman to hold the county's top prosecutor job. just about a year later, though, the group save alameda for everyone launched the effort to recall her on election night. those in favor of the recall were happy with the early returns showing two-thirds of voters supported the efforts to get her out of office. he is not being just to the victims. she's favor in the criminals and it's just getting worse. the race was officially called in favor of the recall by the associated press. our big thing and really the reason this started was because >>she was mistreating victims and she was re-sentencing letting people back out on the street without telling victims those those dangerous violent

criminals. the times for showing up the doors of victims. the oakland police officers union released a statement thanking voters for standing with them in supporting the recall. >>saying they stood with victims of crime price joins the list of california progressives, including la district attorney george gascon own in losing office this year. moore says voters are looking for someone who's going to have a more balanced approach while holding criminals accountable. i say, you know, everybody on the safe to say the alameda for everyone were all progressives and we want progressive policies. we just don't want to go, you know, too far where it endangers the lives the people of alameda county. >>that was kron four's noelle bellow reporting and we reached out to price's office for comment on this. but have yet to hear back once the vote is officially certified. a committee appointed by the board of supervisors. we'll select applicants and then we'll probably interview them during a supervisors meeting.

whoever is appointed will have to run for election in 2026. and the winner there will serve out the final 2 years of prices. turn. and tonight, oakland mayor sheng thao also releasing a statement essentially accepting the recall efforts for her. she wrote, quote, thank you for choosing me to serve as your mayor as the first hmong american woman to become mayor of a major american city has been the honor of a lifetime. i am deeply proud of the progress we created together and i'm committed to ensuring we stay on track by supporting a smooth transition. now, the race of the recall to foretell has not yet been called officially effort to get her out of office continues to lead with 64% of voters in support of this. we'll, of course bring you updates on the rays on air and online. in other election news, former bart board member. let's see simon has headed to the u.s. capitol. she defeated fellow democrat jennifer tran. now simon will succeed representative properly in district 12 representing parts of the east bay in congress.

this first little impulses here are going to be basically evaporating as the rain starts to fall into the dry atmosphere. i don't think we'll see much out of this. maybe some drizzle on saturday and especially on sunday. but here comes the main event for us. this is our rain coming across the san francisco bay area on monday. yes, on veterans day, bringing precipitation here and some snow and even some rain up to the lake tahoe area. snow level about 5 to 6,000 feet. now what's going to happen after that drying out? here are the rainfall totals for monday as much as half an inch or so in the santa cruz mountains. ben lowman, many other areas in and do a 3rd of an inch, maybe a quarter of an inch depending on where you are quarter of an inch in mountain view. high temperatures tomorrow, a little cooler than today. that puts most of us in the 60's from the coast to the bay shoreline. you start to head southward, upper 60's. and yes, we still see a few areas in the 70's in the silicon valley santa clara 72 degrees

say the car is described as possibly a 2013 to 2019 ford escape or similar type suv. they're asking anyone who recognizes the car to give them a call. and the search continued today for several missing boaters after 2 of them capsized in bodega bay. the first boat capsized last saturday. one person was killed and 4 others remain missing from that incident. and 11 year-old boy was recovered and taken to the hospital and the second boat capsized on monday morning, killing one man and left another person missing. sonoma sheriff's office say they their search and rescue teams are on land, air and water making sure nothing goes on checked and then this time they ask anyone with information to keep an eye out on the sonoma coast for debris or anything related to the missing boaters to give them a call. another tech company is cutting jobs. san francisco based real estate tech company open door announced today its plans to let go around 300 people. that's about 17% of

are equipped to handle strokes and heart attacks. well, now the host hospital was supposed to be sold to santa clara county so the services can continue. but now the union representing the nurses rejected that contract that would have helped the transfer process. kron 4 shock moment has the latest. >>inside san jose residents had a sigh of relief this summer when they found at the regional medical center would be sold by its corporate voters to the county of santa clara, which would be able to better fund and stroke and heart attack units. but now doctors and nurses are even more worried saying that if the sale does not go it could result in hundreds of layoffs. it's a complete roller coaster. we were happy said now we're very severely depressed holland is an icu nurse for regional medical center says she felt great knowing this hospital would go to santa clara county this summer and out of the hands of hca healthcare, which at one point was going to got their trauma center. i felt like it would be a little bit more stable the county.

>>in game. but now the sale is in jeopardy. the california nurses association rejecting a contract friday that would have released the nurses to join a new union once they become employed and or santa clara county. >>that's is just about the money for them and not worry about the community and the patients and people that come here. the other major union representing hospital workers, seiu accepted the contract regional medical center told kron 4 news in a statement, quote, we are appalled and shocked that cna leadership has refused to grant the necessary agreement for santa clara county to purchase regional medical center. we do not understand their ration now and will need to regroup to determine next steps. the union is supposed to represent us and the majority of us once the sale to go >>and there very blatantly not listening to what the nurses want to do. the california nurses association would not go into detail about the negotiations but told front for its supports the sale. and it's nurses say that's a lie

because they don't that's there just lying to and makes very angry. >>impromptu rally friday after the contract was rejected. other hospital staff like daniel sanchez, sate layoffs are looming. if the sale does not go through, obviously like this, it's written in the walls. there will be layoffs and possibly reduction of 50% of staffed. 50% is about 500 employees. it would be disastrous for the hospital which also provides critical services to east side residents who are primarily latino and low-income. i mean, we're in the heart of the site of we have a lot of traumas. they do come here. >>and now they're having to be routed back to santa clara valley medical hospital told me that they will regroup with the county of santa clara to figure out how to best move forward in the coming days. meantime, many of the nurses i spoke with say that they're fearful if they don't get their nurses unions blessing. >>this could spell disaster for the hospital reporting here in san jose. jack moment. kron 4 news.

>>and invasive mosquito continues to spread across santa clara county tonight. despite aggressive efforts to control it, officials say the insect can transmit diseases like zika and yellow fever. and now it's been found in south san jose as well as santa clara county officials are ramping up their efforts to eliminate it and they're planning on community meetings to inform residents about the district's plan for this. residents are urged to remove sources of standing water from their properties which can breeding grounds for these mosquitoes. today, governor newsom announced that he's extending the surge of chp officers in oakland. this comes as the operation was scheduled to end this week. opd wrote in a letter in september asking the governor's office to extend their presence. the operation has netted nearly 1200 arrests so far and the recovery of more than 2000 stolen cars. it's also seizure of more than 100 illegal firearms. >>continue to truly appreciate what governor to see. trees is

i'm rob nesbitt. kron. 4 news. >>whether it's public safety, the fentanyl crisis or the business climate downtown, mayor-elect lurie will have his hands full. homelessness is another major issue he'll have to address in san francisco as kron four's. dan kerman tells us homeless advocates are now offering their advice. >>shortly after it became clear that daniel lurie would become san francisco's next. mayor, the coalition on homelessness issued a statement asking lurie to take a new approach. we know that. >>you know, a punitive response doesn't work. i mean, that's that's just obvious to. everybody is just pushing people from block to block it. they have nowhere to go. there's no way for them to disappear. so we have to do the working the system to build up the capacity to get people up and off the streets and that is going to you know, a lot of work sweeps of homeless encampments have increased over the last several months, not just in san francisco, but elsewhere following a supreme court

ruling. jennifer friedman buck with san francisco's coalition on homelessness has different priorities for lurie would like to see on day one, over 700 vacant units in supportive housing be filled. we've got a lot ideas on how to do that. and secondly, would like to see a halt to the illegal property destruct destruction that's occurring where people are losing their medications or losing their paperwork. they're really being harmed by it. and it's cruel during the campaign, lori posted his plans for homelessness, which among other things call for building 1500 shelter beds in 6 months in order to clear encampments and create up at the services. also creating a total of 2500 units of shelter, including bridge housing, like tiny homes and prioritizing cost-effective and dignified shelter rather than expensive permanent housing. remains to be seen if lori can turn his plans into action. but san francisco's coalition on homelessness is

charged with murder. fairfield police say the suspect ran over another man more than once. kron. 4 sleet recall has the details. what did you see? >>i just see that soon after tony witnessed a white dodge pickup truck speed away from the solano town center in fairfield late thursday morning, he learned the driver of the truck just modem and down in the north side parking lot. he had you know, 3, 4, baynes police say the victim who has not been identified by the solano county coroners office was simply walking through the parking lot when he was struck. he died on scene. investigators have not indicated the suspect and victim knew each other. motive remains under investigation is probably just working on minding its own business >>he died for their police, say a good samaritan witnessed the incident called 9-1-1 and stayed on the phone with dispatch following the truck for more than 2 miles until police stopped and arrested the driver on east tabor

season, snowboarders and skiers could head up to the slopes in tahoe and enjoy some fresh powder. the mount rose ski resort in reno is now open for business. and that's thanks to an early snow for more on this comp or stephanie lin spoke with julie johnson from first of all, tell us a bit about how it feels to be open today. >>that's a really exciting day. first to open in tahoe. so we had a ton guests come out and celebrate today and we're also celebrating 60th season. so it's been a really fun day while they congratulations on your 60 a season. >>so walk us through which this will be open this weekend. yeah. so we're starting off with flaky express, which is our high-speed quad lift. and that will. >>take you up to more of fans to intermediate about 1000 feet of vertical open. and then we also have our beginner terrain open with or tool conveyor belt. it's called the magic that's one of the minor.

yeah, we have a little something for everyone and gray and what are the conditions looking like at the moment and how do you see this comparing to the same time last year? yeah. i we have a lot of people abilities for snowmaking. so a lot of us know we have right now in our face is from our snowmaking and so it's a little bit different from last year and a little bit more snow last year. but our snowmaking capabilities are our amazing. so we have about a 20 to 40 inch base right and there's just more to come. you know, so as the season goes what should folks be aware of as they start to head up to the sierra this weekend as nice preparations they should be making. >>i mean, it's it's been it's going to be a beautiful weekend. we have more snow coming on the way on monday. but this weekend, nice and clear and sunny, it should you know, pull start to their season. >>fantastic. and we understand that there's also going to be lessons for those who are not so familiar to skiing.

now to the forty-niners some good news for the team star running back. christian mccaffrey is set to make his season debut on sunday against the tampa bay buccaneers. >>kron four's will tran is outside levi's stadium with a preview. >>it's the return of the mack. i literally just saw christian mccaffrey pull into the facility. i waved at him. he

waved back and he's going to go to practice today. and he has been practicing all week. and according to coach kyle shanahan, he says he looks great. so they're going to take the covers off the ferrari in, get them into the game. finally, he's been on the sideline all season because of injuries to both legs, but they had to rigorous practice sessions this week and he passed with flying colors. technically he's still not on the active roster, but they do expect him to be activated on saturday morning and be part of the team and into the lineup when they play the tampa bay buccaneers. so he will be traveling, of course, with the team tonight. the niners cannot wait to get him back on the field as they are 4, 4, and looking to make a final dash. this is the halfway point of the season. a final dash, the playoffs and ultimately that super bowl and to try to finally win it with coach kyle shanahan. we got a chance to track down george kittle. here is his assessment of the season so far.

>>inside san jose residents had a sigh of relief this summer when they found at the regional medical center would be sold by its corporate motors to the county of santa clara, which would be able to better funded stroke and heart attack units. but now doctors and nurses are even more worried saying that if this sale does not go it could result in hundreds of layoffs. it's a complete roller coaster. we were happy said now we're very severely depressed holland is an icu nurse for regional medical center says she felt great knowing this hospital would go to santa clara county this summer and out of the hands of hca healthcare, which at one point was going to got their trauma center. felt like it would be a little bit more stable the county. >>in hca. but now the sale is in jeopardy. the california nurses association rejecting a contract friday that would have released the nurses to join a new union once they become employed and or santa clara county. >>that's is just about the money for them and not worry

about the community and the patients and people that come here. the other major union representing hospital workers, seiu accepted the contract regional medical center told kron 4 news in a statement, quote, we are appalled and shocked that cna leadership has refused to grant the necessary agreement for santa clara county to purchase regional medical center. we do not understand their ration now and will need to regroup to determine next steps. the union is supposed to represent us and the majority of us wants to sail to go through. >>and and there very blatantly not listening to what the nurses want to do. the california nurses association would not go into detail about the negotiations but told front for it supports the sale. and it's nurses say that's a lie because they don't that's there just lying to and makes very angry. >>impromptu rally friday after the contract was rejected. other hospital staff like daniel sanchez, sate layoffs are looming. if the sale does not go through, obviously like

the legion of honor is turning 100 and to celebrate. the museum is hosting a yearlong worth of events that all kick off this weekend. kron 4 stephanie lives spoke with isabella, laura chavez, the associate curator of european paintings of fine art museums of sf of cars. and we understand you also held a big gala just recently had to go. >>it was so fun, laboratory really like we did justice to this very special occasion, celebrating 100 years of this wonderful museum. yes, congratulations again on that big achievement. walk us through what's going on this weekend. well, tomorrow, hard to believe that, but we've been planning for a long time for tomorrow's festivities. so throughout the entire day, beginning at 09:30am, in the morning when we open. >>we will be celebrating our 100th birthday and at 11:00am our director tom campbell will be giving remarks. we'll have welcome by official loney association. we have french

the past 100 years, it has been a place where san franciscans and visitors to francisco can enjoy the finest works of currently, we show european art at legion of honor, as well as ancient art, but throughout its history of show, we showed different kinds of works of art here, including contemporary art, which we still do sometimes. so it is amazingly rich history. and you can see some of that history reflected in a small exhibition that we have on view about the history of the museum. wonderful know what are some of the new exhibitions that people can expect this upcoming year? >>well, currently, we have on view exhibition about the american painter who participated in the impressionist movement. america's sought the exhibition is called mary because i didn't work. >>and i should say, and the exhibition along with admission to the museum this weekend will be entirely free. thanks to a sponsorship from bank of america and museums are also free every saturday throughout the coming years.

tonight after nearly 12 hours, the california air resources board finally approves a new fuel policy that could have an impact on your gas prices. capitol correspondent eytan was gives us a closer look at the policy and joins us with why some believe it will increase what you pay at the pump. >>it's called california's low-carbon fuel standard or else the offense. in a

nutshell cfs, a state program aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions that come directly from transportation fuel. the program does so by imposing rules on the oil industry, specifically regulating the carbon intensity in such fields. cfs has proved extremely effective. roundup is the chair of the california air resources board or carb the state agency in charge of overseeing airpot lucian in climate change related programs across california, including lca fence. she says they'll cfs has benefited the environment since its inception. more than a decade ago and will help the state achieve its long-term goals to transition away from fossil fuels. since the border originally approved the program in 2009, california has tripled. the quantity of low-carbon fields used in transportation and have reduced dependence on fossil diesel. >>by over 70%, we know that we must do all we can to use our existing state authority to bring clean fuels to

california. and that's why randolph and her colleagues on the air resources board met and riverside friday where they voted 12 to 2 in favor of imposing stricter regulations for lc f s. >>that supporters say will help the climate. but on the flip side of this very analysis from the air resources board found the proposed new policy could increase gas prices by $0.47 per gallon in 2025. >>and potentially even more in future years. analysis came to that conclusion, noting carbs proposed policy could lead to higher costs for refineries which could be passed down to consumers. but since the analysis came out, board staff have since walked back to $0.47 figure noting it was never intended to be an end. all be all prediction of gas prices. i was not able to predict the future where it's likely that we will see different and unexpected changes in the demand for fossil fuels. still legislative and congressional republicans sent the air resources board this letter urging its members to postpone the vote until they can come up with the cost benefit analysis about how the proposed policy could impact

gas prices. >>we want ensure that we have transparency and that he's board actually met scallop when, you know is this is the plan what we're going to be imposing. this is the financial impact it will on people course the handful of air resources board members, including former state senator dean florez echoed similar concerns. the policy could lead to increased gas prices wondering how we you know, good conscience say >>that it's all these other factors somehow we're we're we're we're not the cause of that. but most board members fought back against assertions. the policy could lead to massive increases at the pump, arguing they'll cfs program in the past has resulted in increases averaging no more than $0.10 per gallon important for all of us. as we sit here today. to answer. >>the charge. inaccurate charge. this program. are the reason why we have these price spike. >>and then there were some

veterans feel heard, seen and appreciated. in a green lighting used to illuminate buildings in this context from november. 4th 11 symbolizes way to show veterans that they're seen heard and appreciated as a symbol of hope and support for veterans. and so the culmination of our veterans week events because the green light actually start on november 4th, it can happen anytime between november 4th through november 11. there's one example right there. the alameda county courthouse in the culmination of those efforts is going to be our veterans day event. in the ampitheater one frank h ago plaza adjacent oakland city hall at 11:00am so 80 veterans out there, their families please come and be recognized. we're going to have guest speakers at that event. we're going to speak about local veteran initiatives such as tackling the veteran homelessness crisis. we have over 500 homeless veterans in

the county. veterans are also 3 times more likely to die by suicide than their peers, homeless veterans or 7 times. we're likely. so we have initiatives to help support those veterans such as our stand down event. we're having another stand down event in december, 20th and 21st at saint vincent de paul open several services will be provided to veterans in need such as being able to tap into there better benefits. another initiative is to move the county funded bso from its shared space in the small mall to a stand-alone space. we've been campaigning for that for over a year. that should be moving forward sometime next year. it will help provide seamless access to better those the things that we want to highlight during this operation in on veterans thank you so much for that comprehensive description there. omar, you mentioned a number of the challenges that you see veterans facing today. you've talked a bit about how your organization is working to address that. >>how can the public best help? >>well, the public can come and they they can help spread

the word about our events. they can sign our petition for the stand-alone so they can volunteer to participate at some of our events such as the stand down and helping us just disseminate various bits of information that we have to promote our initiatives and our events because we're trying really hard. it happened to every veteran population throughout the county move our monthly meetings throughout the county to try and do that. thing that people can do to help us spread the word will be greatly appreciate refine what would you say is the best way to honor and support? >>veterans this veterans day. >>well, i would say code are bent monday at 11:00am. and frank h ogawa plaza. and if you can't make it on monday, reach out to a veteran that, you know, whether it be a family member or neighbor thank them for their service, maybe invite them over for dinner. if you're a veteran, you haven't talked to other
