next week. look at that picture there. nice, beautiful start there at half. moon bay, almost the cover of a book or a painting, if you will. nice calm seas. you can see as well. these the scattered clouds i mentioned earlier, a little bit to kind of start the day. these are actually in the thin on out as the day progresses here. so looking pretty good on that front way upstream. there you see that that your monday morning commute right there waiting for you. just going play itself out before it arrives in the town in the later morning commute looks like so we're more favoring the 8 to 9 o'clock hour. early morning. commuters might be spared a lot of this. the on that. let's see. we've got going on here for as far as our temperatures. we have the 40's on board some 30's here for dublin. you can see a 37 up north 30's as well. now these numbers are actually close to where they were this time from yesterday. all those pretty chilly yesterday morning and even ahead for places like nevada was with some cloud cover to kind of help out a little bit. so 45 atm? yes, some clouds to deal with, but we should break this up a little bit. 59. it looks like by 10:00am coming up in a bit

here. we'll be talking about that. what commute tomorrow morning, stephanie. >> our top story this morning is out of the east bay where voters have approved the recall of 2 top officials, district attorney pamela price and oakland mayor sheng thao who conceded to the recall on friday, was lindsey ford brings us analysis from a local political expert. >> this is the first successful recall against the mayor of oakland and the alameda county district attorney david mcewan, political science professor at sonoma state university says both are historic and similar in both cases. you have women of color. >> who are attacked and buy big-ticket fund or she can't eliminate but it does give us some idea in terms of what is going on with the recall process. >> statewide officials who are recalled typically don't pan out. but when recalls are put on the ballot on a local level, mcewan says it tends to be successful. you go to the

local level and local jurisdictions, there are twice as many local jurisdictions. >> that have the ability to have a recall. and it's also percolating throughout the united states. but it usually attached to malfeasance or scandal in office. something happens with the office holder and there's an attempt to recall. >> pamela price often faced criticism from constituents claiming her policies were too soft on crime. >> for the da that involved winning with just 53% of the vote. and so her political opponents were never satisfied. and and we're also in a place where they would want to take advantage of situations like perceptions of criminal justice reform aired more on the side of offenders that on victims for mayor thao. >> mcewan says optics were often the issue. there's the oakland a's situation. there's just a perception that city hall was not functioning well, mayor thao also received a lot of criticism for her decision to fire police chief leronne armstrong. and when her home

was raided in june of this year by the fbi, tal maintains she has done nothing wrong. this investigation. it's not about me. i've not been charged with a crime and i'm confident that i will not be charged with a crime because i am innocent. mcewan also says a yes vote on a recall is more than just voter angst. it's the voters sending a message to all politicians. and when you're captain of the ship. >> unfortunately, when the ship kind of scrapes against iraq, that's on. you. and that's where our politics are at right now. and so that makes it really tough. and so the recall, as a as a weapon as a threat as a device, and it's here to stay. >> lindsey ford kron. 4 news. >> well, for a show local election headquarters, san francisco voters passed highly watched proposition k city officials. they confirm those results on saturday. prop k will allow the great highway a road that runs runs along the

city's western edge by the pacific coast to become a permanent part, allowing improvements like more seating and play structures. supporters say the park will give the city more open space, but opponents had argued it would cause traffic jams in nearby neighborhoods. developing this morning, several polling locations nationwide, including here in the bay area, were temporarily evacuated after bomb threats. clara county's election office was evacuated saturday morning after an employee came across a threatening email. officials say it was sent friday night but not seen until yesterday. it implied workers inside the building would be harmed. there were around 100 people working saturday, still processing ballots. law enforcement responded and say no suspicious devices were found. the area was declared safe later that afternoon. firefighters put out a brush fire in san mateo county. it started around 3.30, saturday morning in la honda. fire was contained at less than an acre. thankfully, no buildings

damaged. crews are investigating the cause of that fire. also in the north bay, fire crews near calistoga stopped forward progress on a grass fire broke out saturday near france valley road in nights valley burning roughly 4 acres. no injuries reported. it's not clear yet how this fire started. all right. take a look at this. these knocked down the door, east bay camera shop and took off with merchandise. the business owner told kron four's philippe djegal the same thing happened just 3 months ago. >> one kicked through the door and the thieves are it's getting it's getting really old just after 5 o'clock wednesday morning, pleasant hill. police say 6 suspects broke into mike's camera on contra costa goods gloves and witness tipped police off to the burglary in progress. the first officer was on scene 5 minutes after the call. the suspects were able to push a record stuff and some other items out of the store and

bolted in what police described as a silver hyundai and a black sedan. we >> also had a break in early august one which somebody stole a car. >> car to the door here. >> and then they ran and they hit one of >> cases in the front and still a lot of used equipment last year. manager andrew krebs says employees were also held up by a group of thieves at gunpoint during a robbery. and in september, he says mike's camera store in dublin was burglarized. all of the incidents with collective losses and damages totaling thousands of dollars. as for whether or not the suspects involved in this week's burglary were also tied to the one in august. police say that is still under investigation. we now have e-ployees left the store because of you know, if you just ate. so it's. it's hartman increasingly difficult for storefronts to maintain their operations along contra

costa boulevard, a major thoroughfare that runs along the freeway with several businesses reporting burglaries in recent months. it's been very frustrating so far no arrests have been made in pleasant hill. philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> oakland, police are searching for this man last seen 5 years ago. >> take a good look at your screen. hear officers say no one has seen done it and ended by law since may. 3rd, 2019, his car was found parked on the san mateo bridge just a day later on the left of your screen is how jonathan looked when he went missing at the age of 19 and to the right is how investigators think he may look now, if you know anything about where he could be. please call oakland police. president elect donald trump sits down with president joe biden in the oval office on wednesday. the white house making that announcement saturday saying the 2 men will discuss the peaceful transfer of power. notably trump did not offer to host biden for a

sit-down following the 2020 election. trump 60 takes office january. 20th after defeating vice president kamala harris in the november election. the trump team is working to fill more key positions. campaign manager susie wiles was as trump's chief of staff making her the first woman chief of staff in history. in california. governor newsom is again positioning himself as the anti-trump alternative. he's called a special session of the legislature in december to protect california is more progressive policies from the trump presidency. his office says involving women and lgbtq rights. for example. >> i think he's gonna a faster executive orders. day one. we're taking at his word and taking a promises. >> now newsom says he plans to defend climate action and push back against plans to crack down on illegal immigration. president elect trump has fired back on his online

platform. truth social. the annual veterans day parade happens today in san francisco's north beach neighborhood. events kick off at 11:00am and the parade formation starts at 10. expect street closures from 10:00am to 01:00pm along the following routes. most point between powell and the embarcadero, the embarcadero from northpoint to jefferson, jefferson between the embarcadero and high and all streets north of beach between height and the embarcadero muni service will be impacted him. bus routes return to normal once the streets reopen. be sure to plan ahead for delays in those areas. still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news in the south bay students and parents rallied to keep their school from closing. >> with some demonstrators say it will take to keep the lights off. >> it's that they're going to

>> firefighters making progress on the mountain fire in southern california. and they say weather conditions are are helping with that situation. there. the blaze in ventura county is now 17% contained. the mountain fire broke out wednesday and spread 32 square miles gust blew up to 80 miles an hour. at least 132 homes destroyed. thousands of people forced to evacuate. some people were allowed to return saturday and sort through debris for belongings that survived the flames. >> it's too early to process emotions. things that we knew were there like that was a motorcycle no sign of it anywhere. you know, the so many things like that just >> crews continue to work at this hour on fully containing this fire. 7.15, this morning live look outside at the golden gate bridge. just gorgeous view of that bridge this morning. although looking just a tad overcast out there,

30's inland still in the east bay as well as the north bay. so futurecast for clearing out looking pretty sweet. there's the sprinkles i mentioned earlier, just getting started by about sundown and into the evening overnight hours. there's the bigger deeper moisture we mentioned here. and this is later in the morning. not 9.30, or so. but this moves through fairly quickly. as you can see, clearing out before noon. so just build the unsettled and that'll come with some winds, too, with that program. first things first for today do have some breezy conditions this afternoon at all. but with that line of rain, yeah, we're going to get a nice, good pop of winds here all onshore. thank you. then a few hours later, pretty much gone. and we continue on with breezy in the afternoon. this corrects our temperatures, however, shooting feel big difference between this afternoon and not only tomorrow afternoon, but for the rest of the week's of the 60's are back in the driver's seat. the 70's of today, these are god so enjoy lower 70's. you can see well inland, even the east bay

shoreline up in the north bay as well. and that'll be coupled with the sunshine, i just mentioned before, too, next couple of days. we see the drop happening here monday. there are 62 little recovery on tuesday. and then another dose of some unsettled weather wednesday into thursday. and then we'll do another dose of some rain showers as we get into wednesday thursday. okay. alright, have the umbrellas thanks a lot. >> well, your health this morning. it's the return of cold and flu season. bay area. doctors are encouraging people get vaccinated right now. kron four's charles clifford has that story. >> with the winter months just ahead, the holidays coming up, health officials are recommending that everyone get vaccinated. now on thursday, the san francisco department of health encouraged everyone to get vaccinated for flu covid and rsv a type of respiratory virus. they also say there is a new version of the covid vaccine that should provide protection against the current strain of the virus with the holidays. coming up, they say now is the best time to prepare. it's important to

get vaccinated. we are early in the respiratory virus season and now is the time to protect yourselves and your families to prevent yourself from getting seriously sick and needing to go to the hospital. >> getting vaccinated is especially important before the holiday gatherings start to begin. >> health officials are also reminding everyone that free covid tests are available from the federal government and that if you are ill testing could help you decide how best to treat the illness. >> testing for covid will help you determine what to do to reduce risk of severe illness such as seeking effective treatment such as paxlovid to order your free covid test. there's a limit of 4 per household visit. covid tests dot gov. >> now they are recommending that everyone, 6 months or older, especially people with pre-existing conditions, health issues get vaccinated for covid flu and rsv. although they say if you've got an rsv vaccine last year, you do not need to get another one this year. but for now in san francisco, charles clifford kron, 4 news.

>> developing in the east bay to leandro city council members. they face disciplinary action. independent investigation found they interfered with the duties of former city manager friend robust tele. the investigation launched earlier this year found vice-mayor fred simon and councilmember victor aguilar junior threatened robust eli's employment and performance evaluation. as a result, the city council voted 41 to initiate a censure hearing on november. 18th. the council will decide if any discipline is needed and will continue to update you as that story develops. and for your money this morning as expected, the federal reserve cut interest rates last week for a second time in 2 months. it's a sign of lowering inflation, but mortgage rates and interest rates on car loans are still rising. mortgages increased for 6 straight weeks. the average 30 year mortgage is 6.7 9%. some analysts say it's a sign investors are worried trump's policies may increase

government debt. and spirit airlines announced it's cutting dozens of for a routes, including a route from oakland to lax spirit. officials say they made those cost-cutting moves after its proposed merger with jetblue was blocked earlier this year in october, the airline said it would cut staff. and so just to stay afloat. and the city of alameda broke ground on new facilities to help 5 food fight. food insecurity. the food bank in the city say they hope this leads to improve services for those in need. >> you know, with this new facility, we're excited because it's going to offer increased capacity will have the ability to serve more people. never want to see more people needing or services were just happy to be able to have the ability to serve people when they're in need. >> now the new building will across the street from the food bank's current

delays happening out that way. and you can see the sun coming up over the hills a bit the hour by hour forecast reflects a couple scattered clouds. a computer wants to put in their 49 will try by 09:00am at 10. 56 notice how quickly the temperatures are rising. however, and stormtracker just kind of keeping a track on some leftover clouds that are actually evaporating before your eyes looking real sweet on that. the will be some offshore showers developing late this afternoon, but they're going to stay off of land until sunset. we're looking at 40's and 30's still inland. so chilly in spots. and you'd expect that again with dry air. as we start to flip the page more into more the winter program. chilly mornings. but even nice sunny afternoons. what we're looking at is today is clearing breezy temperatures will be back to those lower 70's that we enjoy tomorrow morning raid that looks to be around the late morning commute. so we're talking maybe 8, 9, 10 o'clock program, not so much. the 5 in the 6 hour. then this week, a few showers wednesday, thursday return. these are much weaker than the monday

morning affair and will finish off the week with clearing out in a nice weekend set up for us. it looks that way now could change a little bit lower. 70's going on for much of the east bay for highs. very similar to yesterday's numbers. but we won't be seeing that next week as we get our correction with this new system and have a look at your extended forecast and what's going on. your neighbor. dave, thank you. new this morning, an incredible story of survival. >> this 13 year-old boy is alive after a boat carrying his family capsized in the bodega bay. tragically, he lost his father in the incident. how was jack moment spoke with a young survivor as grieves this terrible loss. >> my dad bought one florida and cell phone and i took it and then but in a the linen jewett come on, who showing us his father's collection of fishing rods. his father. >> was a lifelong fisherman and started taking out when he was just 5 years old. my dad was a really funny guy. >> we had a really good personality. you help a family

member. but on opening weekend for dungeness crab jude, his father, uncle cousins and family friend capsized their boat. the waves were just too big or at least maybe 14 c judas as his family tried to get the vote out of the waves. but the water was coming on too quickly. and then we all put our life jackets on and jumped in the water overboard. then in a heroic act, his father pushed jude away in a cooler that came from the boat. his father let go of that cool air. and then after the chaos, jude was alone floating. something that went through my head was if i was going to make it to see my family or make it to see another day. >> or >> not dead. he found himself washed ashore and in the morning he went to find help. he was then reunited with his mom and aunt. i like spending time on the boat and it is like personal home. on ocean is miss this last week of school since the vote went missing. but he's eager to go back but still understanding

how his miraculous chances of survival made him. the sole survivor of that horrible kind of manage that tonight. stay strong. i just have to focus on. >> what's in front of me and not really the past unless have it's hard, i think for all hope for the tonight show up one day, you know, he's found on an island somewhere. you can cook not hand. we will soon. you know, that's what i'm thinking. but, you know, you know, there's that has that, you know, that's not the case. and we somehow i within 24 hours says the bodies of the family have not been found yet. >> they're hosting a vigil on saturday, november 16th in bodega bay. i mean, nobody shows up will be there. you know, for us, it's it's a closure going forward, making sure friends and family are there for who still has plans to fish again in the future. yeah, it's still want to go fishing, but maybe like of the future would actually get a bigger boat. meantime, there is a gofundme set up to help the family move forward making sure that they have a healthy.

>> we know so they can, you know, if they got what they want to do with their life and then have somebody support them. and, you know, be there, too. you know. >> you know, with their dad will be. >> in san jose, jack will kron 4 news. >> after a standoff lasting 8 hours, antioch police arrested a man accused of domestic violence. officers responded to reports of a kidnapping and assault at stonecrest drive saturday. the female victim was outside the home when police arrive. the men involved have barricaded himself inside and threatened officers with a knife. he eventually surrendered around 11:00pm and was booked into jail. in richmond. 9 people are in jail after being accused of being involved in sideshows. this happened on canal boulevard overnight. officers say more than 50 cars were blocking the street. there are more than 200 participants. police used by spike strips to disable one of the cars which you can see on your screen. there. richmond

police remind everyone sideshows are illegal and a serious risk to those involved. niners tight tonight tightening. both bosa was recently fined over $11,000 for wearing a maga hat during a post-game interview. the ap says both war, the mag ahead after a recent game versus the cowboys. if you can recall, bosa pointed to his white maga hat in support of now, president elect donald trump. one of the nfl policies is that players are prohibited from wearing personal political messages without approval. bosa says it was worth it. in the south bay. there's increased fear among local immigrant communities because of trump's promise of mass deportation. the leaders in san jose are now echoing their promise that no undocumented residents will be prosecuted solely for their status. was rob nesbitt explains. >> we want to have borders. we want to have security. donald trump reiterated his stance on immigration and border

security during his speech on election night. a big part of his campaign for reelection and that he spoke on during his last visit to california. we're gonna have the largest deportation in the history of our country. and san jose. 40 1% of the city's population is foreign born. according to mayor matt mahan. it's why the president elect's comments are so concerning in the south bay when the presidential candidate who is now the president-elect is making remarks saying that they're going to. >> the port immigrant community members. we take that very seriously. and there is real palpable fear in our community. jeremy bruce works with the amigos de guadalupe center for justice and empowerment that advocates for immigrants. the center puts on know your rights workshop and make sure immigrant families have help hotlines at the ready community members can call if they see ice in their neighborhoods that we can effectively respond. to document the ice enforcement and then also employee. and

attorneys to work if there's an immigration case that in a statement thursday, san jose police chief paul joseph says his department will not take any action to determine a person's immigration status and will not detain question or arrest anyone for the purpose of discovering their status. the chief says his policies in place to ensure that people feel safe coming to the police without fear of deportation. fact that santa clara county has always been a beacon for championing immigrant rights issues and being a welcoming place for immigrants for all people. state senator dave cortez, he is also advocating for immigrants saying the democratic party needs to be prepared to do the same, urging his colleagues in the state senate to go to their home counties and hold public hearings slip. people come in and ask questions. we assure them. >> let them know that we have rapid response programs that if somebody comes knocking on their door thought award, you know, how should they respond, though? chief joseph says there should not be fear of deportation. >> his department will continue to work with u.s.. immigration and customs

enforcement with matters involving serious crimes reported in the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> starting tomorrow, parking too close to a crosswalk in san francisco could get you into some trouble. the sfmta will start issuing warning tickets to anyone who parks within 20 feet of any crosswalk. the agency says this is to comply with the state's daylighting law which aims to improve pedestrian safety by ensuring better visibility for both pedestrians and drivers. fines will be issued starting january first 2025 with a minimum fine of $40. san mateo based cloud software company fresh works announced it will cut approximately 600 jobs reducing its workforce by 13%. ceo dennis woodside said the decision is part of the company's focus on investing in employee experience artificial intelligence and customer initiatives. fresh works expects it expects incur a lab in 2 13 million dollars in costs related to the layoffs in the 4th quarter.

called port chicago winds on the shoreline. tell that story. well. the story of the hundreds of servicemen lost their lives at this site 80 years ago isn't as well known. >> this story has been kind of swept under the rug during world war. 2 navy sailors were sent to port chicago on the southern banks of sassoon bay. >> the base was racially segregated. commanding officers were all white and the sailors were all black. those sailors were tasked with loading ammunition onto liberty ships, transporting cargo in arms to the war zones. 2000 pound blockbusters, all warheads for top eaters, 6 in the next project is and anything in between. it was a task. no one on the base was properly trained for. >> and tore my my officers several times that that one day this stuff is going to explode. his answer was, if it does. >> you are. i won't know anything about >> and on july, 17th 1944,

again, looking for those inland highs in the lower 70's. more on this rain arrival for tomorrow. coming up in a bit. step. >> dave, thank you. our top story this morning is out of the east bay where voters have officially approved the recall of 2 top officials, district attorney pamela price and oakland mayor sheng thao who could see did to that recall on friday. crawford's lindsey ford brings us analysis from a local political expert. >> this is the first successful recall against the mayor of oakland and the alameda county district attorney david mcewan, political science professor at sonoma state university says both are historic and similar in both cases. you have women of color. >> who are attacked and buy big-ticket fund or she can't iminateut it does give us some idea in terms of what is going on with the recall process. >> statewide officials who are recalled typically don't pan out. but when recalls are put on the ballot on a local

level, mcewan says it tends to be successful. you go into the local level and local jurisdictions, there are twice as many local jurisdictions. >> that have the ability to have a recall. and that's also percolating throughout the united states. but it usually attached to malfeasance or scandal in office. something happens with the office holder and there was an attempt to recall. >> pamela price often faced criticism from constituents claiming her policies were too soft on crime. >> for the da that involved when he just 53% of the vote. and so her political opponents were never satisfied. and and we're also in a place where they would want to take advantage of situations like perceptions of criminal justice reform. that aired more on the side of offenders and that on victims for mayor thao. >> mcewan says optics were often the issue. there's the oakland, a situation. there's just a perception that city hall was not functioning well, mayor thao also received a lot of criticism for her decision

k will allow the great highway a road that runs along the city's western edge by the pacific coast to become a permanent park, allowing improvements like more seating and play structures. supporters say the park will give the city more open space, but opponents argued it would cause traffic jams in nearby neighborhoods. developing this morning, several polling locations nationwide, including in the bay area, were temporarily evacuated after bomb threats. clara county's election office was evacuated saturday morning after a worker came across a threatening email. officials say this was sent friday night but was not seen until yesterday. it implied that workers inside the building would be harmed. there were around 100 people working at the office on saturday, still processing all the ballots there. law enforcement responded and say no suspicious devices were found. the area was declared safe later that afternoon. firefighters put out a brush fire in san mateo county. it

started around 3.30, saturday morning in la honda. fire was contained at less than an acre. thankfully, no buildings damaged whose are investigating the cause. also in the north bay, fire crews near calistoga stopped forward progress on a grass fire. it broke out saturday near fronts valley road and nights valley burned roughly 4 acres. no injuries reported. it's unclear how this fire started. all right. take a look at the this thieves knocked down the door of an east bay camera shop, as you can see right there. and they took off with merchandise. the business owner told kron four's philippe de gaulle. the same thing happened just 3 months ago. >> one kicked through the door and the thieves are it's getting is getting really old. just after 5 o'clock wednesday morning, pleasant hill. police say 6 suspects broke into mike's camera on contra costa goods gloves and witness tipped police off to the burglary in progress. the first officer was on scene 5 minutes after the call. the

suspects were able to push a record stuff and some other items out of the store and bolted in what police described as a silver hyundai and a black sedan. we >> also had a break in early august which and somebody stole a car. >> car to the door here. >> and then they ran they hit one of >> cases in the front and still a lot of used equipment last year. manager andrew krebs says employees were also held up by a group of thieves at gunpoint during a robbery. and in september, he says mike's camera store in dublin was burglarized. all of the incidents with collective losses and damages totaling thousands of dollars. as for whether or not the suspects involved in this week's burglary were also tied to the one in august. police say that is still under investigation. we now have employees left the store because of you know, if you just ate. so it's. it's

good morning to the both of you for money will. thank you so much for joining us to talk about such an important topic here for indigenous peoples month. >> now, first of tell us a bit about the life of duggan aguilar, if you could. i know there's such so much to cover in a very limited amount of time, but maybe some of the key points. >> well, diggins california native and very much a part of the community and he really sought his life's work to document california indian communities. and he traveled all over the state. he's known for photographing california indian basket weavers association meetings. and and he was very much a up member of the community as a father, uncle, brother, friend. so he was able to photograph. events a way that others couldn't. and he also had a practice of giving portraits prince of this portraits to the people who are in his images. i was

reciprocity. yeah. and drew, tell us a bit about the collection itself and the photography that we're seeing on that we were just seeing on the screen there. >> what tell us about the messages that you think they trying to convey >> that's the first of all you would like to give credit to glorious doing large family didn't passed away in 2018 and the family donated the entire archive. think 25,000 negative 600 prince personal papers and so forth. and as theresa was saying, i think is his gift is really the the photographs are sort of a kind loving celebration of native california, indigenous communities, which is something that a lot of californians frankly have not experienced or seen. so native people will see it as a celebration. and a native people i think will really learned something important. >> and its recent tell us about what inspired you to write this book about him. well, i added to the collection of his photographs

to the invitation of malcolm, our dillon. it heyday books. >> and duggan. i have been working together since the late 1980's. and it was really familiar with his photographs. and so it was it was an honor and honored to work with do and to look at his image e and and we also selected them, you know, as community. yes, how did that photo selection work? as you are working to cure rate this this collection together for display? >> well, the during the exhibition was really collaborative process. we have, as theresa mentioned, we 5 carburetor put together the show where they're involved in developing every step of the way. there are people that, you know, native californians who knew do know work with related to him. so that was really rewarding part of the process it has a feeling of intimacy that i think that that stem from that, is there

a particular image or a series of images in the collection that you think people really should? >> the taking a look at when they come and see this exhibit. i have is probably so many that come to mind. but as their favorite of yours, perhaps. there's a you know, that's like asking your favorite child. i think thing that immediately comes to mind is a group of photographs that he took which is a running rock state, historic park. >> and a group. it's individual portraits of people standing in front of the roundhouse and it's all to offer one roll of film and they're perfectly posed photographs that really i think speaks about intimate relationship he had with people in the trust that he had he could get those in just roll of film okay. >> reese, how about for you? and if you come to know you're thinking about yeah, it's really hard to have favorites. and, you know, walking through the exhibition, it was like a reunion and the community that

he built through his photography is continuing to the community. we've built with the museum with our advisors and then it. it was just amazing to see people who are in the image is getting their photographs with their photographing. it was just really powerful and very emotional for many folks. the museum provided contact. she needs audio video. so there's all levels an amazing way in which someone can immerse themselves his his life of photographing landscape and people. yeah, really sounds like such a powerful tell us and remind us again how people can access this incredible collection. how long it's going to be on this display for. >> the exhibitions open till the middle of june. we are, you know, we acquired the collection pretty recently. so we're still involved with cataloging it again with

richmond, 9 people accused of being involved in sideshows are in jail. this happened on canal boulevard overnight. officers say more than 50 cars and 200 people blocked the street. police used spike strips to stop one of the cars from getting away, which you can see on your screen. richmond police remind everyone that sideshows are illegal and a serious risk to those involved. niners defensive end. nick bosa was recently fined over $11,000 for wearing a maga hat during a post-game interview. the associated press as matt bosa war and maga hat after a we sit 9 9 ers game versus the cowboys. as you can see there, bosa pointed to his white maga hat in support of now, president-elect donald trump under nfl policy players cannot wear personal political messages without approval. says that the moment was worth it. in the south bay concern continues to build among immigrant families following trump's promise of mass deportation leaders in san

>> our top story this morning is going to be out of the east bay where voters have approved the recall of 2 top officials, district attorney pamela price and oakland mayor sheng thao who did concede to the recall on friday crawford's lindsey ford brings us analysis from a local political expert. >> this is the first successful recall against the mayor of oakland and the alameda county district attorney david mcewan, political science professor at sonoma state university says both are historic and similar in both cases. you have women of color. >> who are attacked and buy big-ticket fund or she can't eliminate but it does give us some idea in terms of what is going on with the recall process. >> statewide officials who are recalled typically don't pan out. but when recalls are put on the ballot on a local level, mcewan says it tends to be successful. you go to the local level and local jurisdictions, there are twice

as many local jurisdictions. >> that have the ability to have a recall. and that's also percolating throughout the united states. but it usually attached to malfeasance or scandal in office. something happens with the office holder and there was an attempt to recall. >> pamela price often faced criticism from constituents claiming her policies were too soft on crime. >> for the da that involved winning with just 53% of the vote. and so her political opponents were never satisfied. and and we're also in a place where they would want to take advantage of situations by perceptions of criminal justice reform that air tomorrow on the side of offenders. that on victims for mayor thao. >> mcewan says optics were often the issue. there's the oakland, a situation. there's just a perception that city hall was not functioning well, mayor thao also received a lot of criticism for her decision to fire police chief leronne armstrong. and when her home was raided in june of this year by the fbi, tal maintains

she has done nothing wrong. this investigation is not about me. i've not been charged with a crime and i'm confident that i will no be charged with a crime because i am innocent. mcewan also says a yes vote on a recall is more than just voter angst. it's the voters sending a message to all politicians. and when you're captain of the ship. >> unfortunately, when the ship kind of scrapes against iraq, that's on. you. and that's where our politics are at right now. and so that makes it really tough. and so the recall, as a as a weapon as a threat as a device, and it's here to stay. >> lindsey ford kron. 4 news. >> frazier local election headquarters as francisco voters passed the highly watched proposition k city election. officials confirm those results on saturday. prop k allows the great highway a road that runs along the city's western edge by the pacific coast to become a permit park allowing improvements like more seating

and play structures. supporters say the park will give the city more open space. opponents had argued it would cause traffic jams in nearby neighborhoods. developing this morning, several polling locations nationwide, including in the bay area, were temporarily evacuated after bomb threats. santa clara county's election office was evacuated saturday morning after an employee came across a threatening email. officials say it was sent friday night but not seen until yesterday. it implied workers inside the building would be harmed. there were around 100 people working saturday, still processing ballots. law enforcement responded and say no suspicious devices were found. the area was declared safe later that afternoon. firefighters put out a brush fire in san mateo county started around 3.30, saturday morning. and the honda that fire was contained at less than an acre. thankfully, no buildings damaged. crews are investigating the cause. also in the north bay, fire crews near calistoga stop forward progress on a grass fire.

broke out saturday near frogs valley road and nights valley and burned roughly 4 acres. no injuries reported. it's not clear yet how that fire started. all right. take a look at this. they knocked down the door of east bay camera shop, as you can see there and took off with merchandise. the business owner told kron four's philippe djegal all that the same thing happened just 3 months ago. >> one kicked through the door and the thieves are it's getting it's getting really old just after 5 o'clock wednesday morning, pleasant hill. police say 6 suspects broke into mike's camera on contra costa goods gloves and witness tipped police off to the burglary in progress. the first officer was on scene 5 minutes after the call. the suspects were able to push a record stuff and some other items out of the store and bolted in what police described as a silver hyundai and a black sedan. we >> also had a break in early

august one which somebody stole a car. >> car to the door here. >> and then they ran they hit one of >> cases in the front and still a lot of used equipment last year. manager andrew krebs says employees were also held up by a group of thieves at gunpoint during a robbery. and in september, he says mike's camera store in dublin was burglarized. all of the incidents with collective losses and damages totaling thousands of dollars. as for whether or not the suspects involved in this week's burglary were also tied to the one in august. police say that is still under investigation. we now have employees left the store because of you know, if you just ate. so it's. it's heartening increasingly difficult for storefronts to maintain their operations along contra costa boulevard. a major thoroughfare that runs along the freeway with several businesses reporting burglaries in recent months.

there's such so much to cover in a very limited amount of time, but maybe some of the key points. well, diggins california native and very much a part of the community and >> he really sought his life's work to document california indian communities. and he traveled all over the state. he's known for photographing california indian basket weavers association meetings. and and he was very much a up member of the community as a father, uncle, brother, friend. so he was able to photograph. events in a way that others couldn't. and he also had a practice of giving portraits pensive this portraits to the people who are in his image it was reciprocity. yeah. and drew, tell us a bit about the collection itself and the photography that we're seeing on that we were just seeing on the screen there. >> what tell us about the messages that you think they

trying to >> that's the first of all, like to give credit to dustin angular his son doing the alerts family to past or in 2018 the family donated the entire archive. think 25,000 negative 600 prince personal papers and so forth. and as theresa was saying, i think is his gift is really the the photographs are sort of loving celebration of native california, indigenous communities, which is something that a lot of californians frankly have not experienced or seen. so native people will see it as a celebration. and non native people, i think will really learned something important. >> and its recent tell us about what inspired you to write this book about him. i added to the collection of his photographs to the invitation of malcolm are billing it heyday books. >> and duggan. i have been working together since the late 1980's. and it was really

familiar with his photographs. and so it was it was an honor and honored to work with and to look at his image e and and we also selected them, you know, as community. yes, how did that photo selection work as you working to cure rate this this collection together for display? >> well, the during the exhibition was really collaborative process. we have, as theresa mentioned, we have found 5 carburetor put together the show where they're involved in developing every step of the way. there are people that, you know, native californians who knew doing work with related to him. so that was really rewarding part of the process of it has feeling of intimacy that i think that that stem from that, is there a particular image or a series of images in the collection that you think people really should? >> the taking a look at when they come and see this exhibit. i have is probably so many that come to mind. but as their favorite of yours, perhaps. there's a you know,

that's like asking your favorite child. i think thing that immediately comes to mind is a group of photographs that he took cha say, which is the indian iraq state, historic park. >> it's group. it's individual portraits of people standing in front of the roundhouse and it's all to offer one roll of film and they're perfectly posed photographs that really i think speaks about intimate relationship he had with people in the trust that he had so that he could get those in just roll of film okay. >> and how about for you? and if you come to know you're thinking about yeah, it's really hard to have favorites and, you know, walking through the exhibition, it was like a reunion and the community that he built through his photography is continuing to the community. we've built with the museum with our advisors and then it. it was just amazing to see people who are in the image is getting their photographs with their

photographing. it was just really powerful and very emotional for many folks. the museum provided contact. she needs audio video. so there's at all levels an amazing way in which someone can immerse themselves his his life of photographing landscape and people. yeah, really sounds like such a powerful tell us and remind us again how people can access this incredible collection. how long it's going to be on display for. >> the exhibition's up until the middle of june. we are, you know, acquired the collection pretty recently. so we're still involved with cataloging it again with collaborators. and are going to be putting it on to our online collections portal probably you're not immediately, but it's it's going to happen. and that was what do wanted? and i think was to have these publicly

was a really funny guy. >> we had a really good personality. you help a family member. but on opening weekend for dungeness crab jude, his father, uncle cousins and family friend capsized their boat. the waves were just too big or at least maybe 14 c. >> judas as his family tried to get the vote out of the waves. but the water was coming on too quickly. and then we all put our life jackets on and jumped in the water overboard. then in a heroic act, his father pushed jude away in a cooler that came from the boat. his father let go of that cool air. and then after the chaos, jude was alone floating. something that went through my head was if i was going to make it to see my family or make it to see another day. >> or >> not dead. he found himself washed ashore and in the morning he went to find help. he was then reunited with his mom and aunt. i like spending time on the boat and it is like personal home. on ocean

his campaign for reelection and that he spoke on during his last visit to california. we're gonna have the largest deportation in the history of our country. and san jose. 40 1% of the city's population is foreign born. according to mayor matt mahan. it's why the president elect's comments are so concerning in the south bay when the presidential candidate who is now the president-elect is making remarks saying that they're going to. >> the port. >> immigrant community members. we take that very seriously. and there is real palpable fear in our community. jeremy bruce works with the amigos de guadalupe center for justice and empowerment that advocates for immigrants. the center puts on know your rights workshop and make sure immigrant families have help hotlines at the ready community members can call if they see ice in their neighborhoods. >> that we can effectively respond. to document the ice enforcement and then also employee. and attorneys to

work if there's an immigration case that in a statement thursday, san jose police chief paul joseph says his department will not take any action to determine a person's immigration status and will not detain question or arrest anyone for the purpose of discovering their status. the chief says his policy is in place to ensure that people feel safe coming to the police without fear of deportation. fact that santa clara county has always been a beacon for championing immigrant rights issues and being a welcoming place for immigrants for all people. state senator dave cortez, he is also advocating for immigrants saying the democratic party needs to be prepared to do the same, urging his colleagues in the state senate to go to their home counties and hold public hearings slip. people come in and ask questions, reassure them. >> let them know that we have rapid response programs that if somebody comes knocking on their door thought award, you know, how should they respond, though? chief joseph says there should not be fear of deportation. >> his department will continue to work with u.s.. immigration and customs enforcement with matters
