kron-on. i'm stephanie rothman. more developing news tonight. coming out of san mateo county sheriff's of. so they the assistant sheriff resigns this after county supervisors formally called on sheriff christina corpus to resign. are the findings of a scathing report. here's kron four's their son since conversation with the county supervisor. >>the weeklong saga continues around the san mateo county sheriff's office. the assistant sheriff matthew fox resigned friday morning after working in the department for 25 years. my first thought was of the public health and safety of the ns of san mateo county residents who live here. >>to have this must just this much dysfunction in the command staff.s county supervisor ray mueller. he says fox is not the only one leaving the department. the amount of dyction n n n n withi the sheriff's department. that's all the way up. i mean, the number of departures we actually have had the command staff. it is really problematic. the dysfunction within the department was uncovered in an independent

investigation. its findings released by muelleand another supervisor on tuesday. it accuses sheriff christina corpus of having an intimate relationship with her chief of staff victor inj and creating a toxic work environment as well as several other claims. hearing from residents every day who are reading it, who are shocked by the board held a special meeting wednesday voting unanimously to call on the sheriff to resign. >>but before they could take the vote, the sheriff arrived making an announcement to promto assistant sheriff. the county attorney is still looking into the legality of the promotion since he's not a sworn ficer.r.r.r. meanwhile, sheriff corpus still refuses to resign. mueller says since the pagegege report, people continu to come forward. so many tips, so much information both from internally and externally of the sheriff's department. >>that we're following up on right now. the investigation is just moving at full force. stability back to that

we've had that storm system kind of rolling over the ocean. waters generate some big-time swells, 15 footers along the coastline. even occasional 18 for a long some west-facing s. but the waves going to be lage. and we've also got a supermoon up above. that means that moon is very close to the earth and the gravitational pull of giving high tides as high as 7 feet as we head in toward tomorrow. so watch out for some localized flooding in around the bay to those haute high tide right through the weekend. and in beginning of this next week, overall, though, t that pattern. kind of a settling in now. you still see some snow showers over the sierra nevada as we head toward tomorrow. i think we catch a break. so if your traveling up the high country tomorrow, frost be a pretty decent day to do lots of sunshine around the bay area, but them storm clouds start to roll back in again. and here we go. we get into sunday, a possible showers moving in the bay area as we head towards sunday afternoon and more snow headed up in the high country. temperatures tomorrow going to a little brisk, little cool outside 50's and 60's little breeze to and then next couple of days we've gooks like some drier weather as we head in

toward the beginning of this next week. by monday afternoon, we should dry things out. we're gonna actually warm these temperatures up somes near 60 by thursday, but by the following friday, another chance of rain is headed our way. thanks, lauren. >>well, second lawsuit has been filed against san jose state university claiming the school violated female volleyball players rights by allowing a transgender player on their team. in this new including a san jose state volleyball player all are asking to prevent the transgender person from playing in a volleyball championship later this month. san jose state university says they receive the complaints and will review it and respond appropriately to follow. also where police are looking for a man who they say sexually assaulted a woman who is waiting for a bus. investigators say it happened earlier this month at the city's public transit center. the woman was approached by a man who asked her if she could help him by translating a conversation with another person. she agreed and

and this wednesday a person waso shot and killed near the coliseum for this week. oakland had not experienced a homicide in more than a month. alameda ty district attorney pamela price is finally speaking out tonight about the recall election against her email to her supporters price. thanks them. but doesn't concede saying there are still more than 200,000 ballots to count her ers frfrfrfrfrom the alameda county registrar of voters show price losing the recall. 63% to nearly 37%. political analysts say with price currently down by 120,000 votes, she's in a state of denial. th 285,000 votes, outstanding, she would have to win over 70% of them. and clearly she's not doing that. i do not see the recall of pamela price as a repudiation of progressives. >>in her case, this seems to be a repudiation of somebody expectations of the electorate

the canine. her attorney says she had already surrendered to the police when an officer released that sought on to her biting the woman's head and ripping into her scalp. according to the lawsuit, the officer admitted information abthe dog attack in his police report. they say surgeons reattached the woman scout to her head and those injuries required hundreds of stittonight, the san jose mayor is weighing in on the case against councilmember omar torres. the council member is being held in jail without bail, accused of molesting children. torres put in his own resignations in city council position. but it doesn't officially go into effect until later this month. mayor mahan says the community in district 3, which torres represents is now looking for answers on what's next. he says next week the city council will discuss this and ultimately vote on a path forward. >>have what i prefer, which is schedu a special election. i believe the people should choose their representatives,

>>in the south bay, san jose has launched a new program to monitor and enforce rv parking regulations on city streets. the mayor says their top priority will be the neighborhood's dealing with the issue. the most kron four's will tran is in san jose with details. it's a new day. it's a new added to that adheres to be sweeping all over the bay area. san francisco fremont and now the city of san jose residents have been complaining to the city council members for months, if not years s s s s that are thes parked in front of their homes d now the city is responding. they are spending one and a half million dollars on a pilot program that will at are these and where they now. over the past 2 months, they went around and they started counting the rv's and they say within san jose there about 900 rv's that are on the streets. of course, if you talk to their rv owners, they would love to get an apartment, but they simply cannot afford to live in an

apartment and forced to live in their rv's. the residents may say they are these just create trashing the orhoods to generators loud. they can smell the smoke. the city of san jose. they have designated 30 temporary tollway locations and 10 permanent locations. how do they work? well, they created a live map ane 30 temporary locations. they will go through those locations. and if it's full of rv's, they will knock on their window and tell them they have to leave at the very least so they can moviviviving along. and then th permanent locations. that's a hard no. and that includes places like parks or near rv's there. they realize it's an ongoing problem and they're looking for permanent , rv's to park. but in the meantime, they will not be allowed to park full-time at many locations. as many are

those questions. so you have this pilot program that's about to start trying to address this issue of these. >>oversize cars that are parked at all sorts of areas of san jose and the people are living in them first, can you just describe to us how bad problem you see this in your city? >>well, it's a real problem. and i hear from residents and business owners every day who are affected by persistent rv encampments that end up as a byproduct producing trash noise waste, all kinds of challenges and look, i i very much feel for the folks who are out there lets why we're building safe, dignified shelter, recreating places for people to go. but we also have to enforce our laws aold people accountable for being good neighbors. the inventory show that we have approximately 900 vehicles in the city that we believe are lived in the majority of them being over sized or what we typically call rv's. so we'll moving process here going in

doing more enforcement, setting up some temporary tow away zones, cleaning streets and making sure people have access to safe, clean right of way throughout the city. we'll do our best to minimize the impact on those who are unhoused. but we do need to get a better handle on this on this issue. so the program did they did accthey found almost 900. that's what you said that they found. >>of these cars on the streets of san jose. i think people are concerned, though, that if you start in enforcing a parking rules overnight parking there is even an issue that was passed earlier this ar schools that they're just moving around there. they're nobeing dismantled or they're just moving to other cities. these people are getting into the proper shelter that they need. they're just a rotating around to different parts of the city. >>yeah. that is all of our fear. and that's why we're doing multiple things at the same time. so are adding over 1000 new shelter placements of different kinds convermotetetetetel rooms,

modular units safe, sleeping and safe parking. in fact, early next year will be opening our largest safe parking site that will immediately provide an alternative for 85 of those vehicles near nearly 10%. we're also adding another 1000 plus shelter bed. so, you know, we're trying to do all these things in tandem trying to add shelter, add services and at the same time, better manage encampment to reference the pilot. we've done around a few of our schools that were significanimpacted by rv encampments. and i'm happy to report that the enforcement we took to create that buffer zone has been incredibly successful. those scs are safer and cleaner. and just the fact that we engaged with the those who live in ose e e e rv's actually help make them better actors, help them understand that we care that we're paying attention of the sidewalks being d, that we're not going to allow people to have their belongings out in the street. we're not ok with open flames and fires and and people have to properly manage their trash in there by a waste. and so just setting those

expectations is really important as well. and tranant in this so people actually see the progress is being made. >>where are these 30 temporary sites where these tollway restrictions are going to be in place. and there's also some sort of interactive map that people can lock onto to see if this is actually working. that's right. i'm i'm very, very come out of the tech sector. i'm big on measurable progogogogress. we created a map and a comprehensive inventory credit to city staff, particularly. >>the department of transportation who went out and actually created the inventory surveyed the entire city and found all of the oversized vehicles. both the lived-in and and ones that are that are not lived in. so we know where they are and we will be tracking our progress in terms of the locations where we'll be starting to do more enforcement in really stepping up our efforts to mitigate impacts will be about 30 locations. we put this in my budget message this year. so we have some staffing rereresources to do this work.

some will be temporary tow away zones so that we can clean them. others were organ experiment with a more permanent tollway zone and certain sensitive locations. we will be prioritizing rv encampments that are particularly large, particularly persistent concerning on site conditions like trash and bio ways that's being properly disposed of belongings blocking the public right of way like sidewalks and will specially prioritize areas. we're children are being served. schools, daycare centers, parks. we will be able do it all at once. but the idea is to pick the most impactful sites and make a dent there and crea incentives for people to accept shelter except safe parking sites and really come in off the streets into a better managed safe environment. and this all begins next year. i'm glad we had a chance to talk about this, but why have you? there >>little bit of a controversy goint thththththe moment with the san jose city council. you have omar torres, his resignation becomes official at the end of this month. his

seat will be open. he's being held right now. >>in behind bars without bail one. how are you guys with this sort of brewing behind the scenes and also in the forefront and what is the process look like to replace him? >>well, it's been very the community. i just went to a community meeting in district 3, which he has been representing up to this point and and neighborhood. he actually grew up in ant with community leaders with neighbors who want to know the answer to the question you just asked, what's next? who's going to represent us? how do we ensure city services are still being provided to our community? that's that's what we're here for. that's what matters here. next week on tuesday, the city council will discussing ultimately vote

>>in the east bay, antioch, police say foot patrols are back on to help stop gun violence. this comes as kron four's lead to call reports. gang-related shootings have only continued a long-troubled section of the city. >>it's kind of honestly, single mother in antioch speaks with us through her front door, afraid to show her face fearful of gang retaliation, living in the heart of the city's crime ridden sycamore for it to walk to the stores. >>don't like walking around the area because you know, they're not picking. people are they're shooting everywhere. more than a dozen gang-related shootings were reported at or near sycamore square in the month following labor day. >>and for shootings were
