of the bay area and linger for several days, bringing with it some rain. we start tonight with kron 4 chief meteorologist cart lawrence karnow who is tracking the wet weather. lawrence. >>i do. you see just one bomb cyclone very well could see to in the next few days as the storm begins to roll in across the bay area. tonight, the clouds have moved in. begin to see a few scattered showers popping up around the bay inly right now. but flood watches have been issued by the national weather service, expecting some exceedingly heavy rainfall across much of the north bay. that'll be the focus of the storm for maybe 6 inches of rain, maybe as much as 10 inches. plus across some of the northern sonoma county mountain tops, we're going to see a heavy rain event begin to move in. there it is. what that means is the storm has rapidly intensified in the past. 24 hours. look at that swirl in the atmosphere that very deep area of low pressure already bringing some heavy rainfall up in the pacific northwest, beginning to see

weather headlines on our website. that's kron 4 dot com. developing in san francisco. now police are investigating after pregnant woman was shot. it happened this afternoon on hollister avenue by in gallus streets. not far from bret hart elementary school. police are still looking for the person responsible in this, but they have not yet said how many times the woman was shot or what her condion is tonight, officers are asking anyone th information to give them a call. and in antioch, police are investigating 2 shootings that happened about an hour apart. and one of them was deadly. the first one happened at 12, 30 this afternoon on east 6th street near streets. police say the victim was taken to a hospital nearby where he died. investigators are currently working to figure out and identify a suspect second shooting. happening about an hour later on sycamore drive ar else. streets. police say they found a gun there and several bullet casings on the road, but no victims. mateo county board of

supervisors have unanimously voted to pass an ordinance calling for a special election that would allow voters to give the board authority to remove the county sheriff. this, of course, comes after a scathing reports released last week on sheriff christina corpus detailing her alleged abuse of power, including retaliation, intimidation and racism. she also promoting her chief of staff who she's accused of having a relationship with to assist in sheriff last week, corpus declared imeeting she would not step down but the board of supervisors believe the sheriffs actions creek concerns for public safety in their county. happening at our sheriff's office is impacting negatively impacting public safety. >>we continue to hear of people leaving the sheriff's office because of the dysfunction there. ordinance agairgenenenenent response. to what is happening right now in our sheriff's ofofofoffice of t

it's our duty to protect all county staff. county residents. and right now. there's concern about that. >>the special election will be held on march 4th. a woman is in custody tonight after being shot by an officer he union city bart station. we first brought you this story last night when they close the union city bart station due to police activity. well, tonight, we're learning the closure was due to r police shooting where officers say a woman was driving recklessly at the station's parking lot. when officers tried to stop her. that's when they say she also one of the officers and then that officer fired their gun. the shooting comes after a man was arrested for stabbing a woman while on barred earlier this month. and just a week later, another man was killed near the san francisco embarcadero station. despite all this park, police is reassuring the public tonight that bart is safe to ride. >>leave the bart is safe.

struck by an suv. officials say the driver of that suv was having a medical emergency. this deadly incident happened just after 5 o'clock monday evening in santa rosa in a residential area at the corner of corrigan street in north point parkway. >>residents nearby say he had been in the area for multiple years and passed away within seconds of being hit. >>i saw him like literally right here. if you know, getting the mail ready and all that and thought nothing of it. police say at the time hernandez was standing outside of a postal truck sorting through the mail when the driver of a gmc denali suv struck and killed him before driving the suv into the front yard of a nearby home. >>we saw what a lot of cops out here and i didn't even know what's going on they would like some crazy. he passed away. officials say the driver of the suv was suffering from the medical emergency. and after hours of investigating involving eyewitnesses and surveillance footage discovered that the driver had actually lost control well before the incident happened due to that medical emergency. >>hernandez died on the scene

capitol as a result of the 2024 election for the first time ever, at least half of the members in the state senate will be women. >>and then the other chamber, the state assembly, while there are still some races yet to be called, we know for sure nearly half of the members will be when. by our count as of tuesday of the 120 legislative seats in both chambers. at least 59 will be held by women. that is a record number of female members of the 2 houses. and that's not all mcgeorge school of law at professor chris mckay, lee says in total when the election results are certified, the incoming legislature will include at least 30 new members while he believes that is noteworthy. he points out the results of the election did not lead to any major political changes in the legislature just as it was before the election. both houses will be made up of at least 2 thirds democrats officially giving them a super majority status clerk will open the road. that's significant because just by meth alone, the super majority status allows democrats to easily pass bills without ever

up behind that. this one is going to focus mainly in the north bay, but everybody's going to feel the effects of the wind and look at some of the winds were dealing with already to our north. some 48 some 50 mile an hour gusts in eureka right now picking up all these winds going to start to sag south, even san francisco, beginning to see some of those winds start to pick up. now and turning out a southerly direction. in fact, point raze just had a gust of 38 miles per hour. and that's going to be wrapping up throughout the night tonight and tomorrow morning. wind advisories, as you might expect, and they in effect, as we head through tomorrow morning and in the afternoon as well. gusty winds, 40 and 50 mile an hour gusts along the coastline through some of the mountain gaps may be a little strong over some of the mountain tops list. forecast model showing those winds really getting. go by tomorrow morning. starting to see a lot of purple showed up along the coastline over the ridge tops 30, 40 plus mile an hour gusts, even parts of the east very strong, gusty winds that's going to continue on and off throughout the day. so you may not get the rain tomorrow, but you're going to get a lot of wind as we head throughout the day series of storms rolling in the first one coming on shore really

focusing north of the golden gate bridge. you're going to see some showers for the south, but as we head through thursday, still the main focus to the north. that changes on friday. everybody get some of the rain. this is i'm gonna push through the entire bay area on friday. then we get to saturday. scattered showers. that looks like another band of rain moving in on sunday. that may contain some thunderstorms. more showers continuing into monday to him possibly into tuesday. finally catch a little bit of a break as we head toward the thanksgiving day holiday. so a lot of rain coming our way. and boy, tremendous amounts of rain showing up through the first part of the storm. yeah, 3 plus inches in the north bay start to add some totals up the storms. also you're talking 5, 6, inches even in the urban areas. i mean, that's just a ton of rain down below. and you can imagine a lot more rain over the mountain tops. here we go next. 7 days, rain on or off just about throughout that period. and yet the potential for flooding real, especially on some of those small creeks and streams in the north bay. that's the areas that you're likely going g g g g to see the flooding. the main river should stay within their banks. >>thanks, foreign so well, another weather concern to look or anananand this is power

into a shooting that occurred at the bart union city station on monday evening. according to bart police just before 9 monday evening, 2 officers responded to the parking lot outside the union city bart station on reports of reckless driving upon arrival. the officers conducted a traffic stop during the traffic stop. the driver is alleged to have assaulted a police officer which led to one of the officers discharging their firearm. >>the suspect, 32 year-old jasmine gal of union city was shot in the upper body. yeah was provided wit first aid and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. >>police say that gao is in seseseseserious but stable cond they also say that she has 2 warrants out for her arrest and that if medically cleared, she will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, reckless, evading failure to follow a court order and resisting arrest. the officers involved were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting. although that video has not yet been made public. comes after a man was arrested for stabbing a woman while on bart earlier

>>now let's switch gears to weather. there's a lot of rain and wind coming up in the forecast later this week. tracking it all is kron 4. she meteorologist lawrence karnow lawrence. >>i think everybody's going to get wet specially head in toward the next few days here we have to wait their turn. but that's where that's going to push through specially on friday. i think that's one the entire bay area really going to see a good soaking. but the high country also looking at some heavy snow moving on in. so you're traveling that way, gotta be careful. heavy snow, gusty winds, that snow level starting out at about 3500 feet. we're talking 2 to 4 feet across the higher peaks there. so you can expct some delays going in that direction. but that snow level is likely to rise to about 78,000 feet as we head in toward thursday with some much

warmer tropical air moving in winter. storm warnings remain in effect all along the western slopes of the sierra nevada. expecting that heavy rain all the way up in the shasta area as well. and you can see that storm system. just a beautiful looking storm wrapping around that center of area of low pressure. very, very intense. may turn out to be a record area of low pressure in the pacific as it begins to wind on him and bring that heavy rain up in the pacific northwest. but a lot of snow, you're going cospecially to our north upwards of the chest area. we're talking about 4 feet of snow may be good to 3 feet of snow across the sierra, nevada and parts of the donner area. so many that ski resorts going to love to see all that activity. all right. let's time out the storm for as we were talking about most, that rain is going to be headed up in the north bay. that's where that atmospheric river event going to move on. we will see some water in showers headed further south from time to time. but really the focus is going to stay to the north. in fact, you'll see that on and poff as we head into thursday. and then i think that rain line got a lift a bit again as we head in toward thursday. but by friday, everybody's
