>>oakland international looks great and you clearly see there's not a lot of cars waiting for people to be picked up. in fact, i haven't heard a whistle and a long time as people are stopping by hopping into their cars and leaving. let me show you what it looks inside. this been pretty consistent all morning. no long lines. and you can think the tsa for that, the tsa, they anticipate 18 million americans will travel during the thanksgiving holiday, which is why they told all of their workers. you have to come to work, get people moving along. and that's exactly what's happening at oakland international. very short way. probably only a few minutes to get through the checkpoint into the gate. you know, if there are other places, of course, across the country that will have long lines. but i tracked down some travelers this morning and they say they don't care. it's worth it. when you go see family and friends. >>traveling on thanksgiving and be happy to be home and

that's where i'm headed. so it's worth a lot coming in going just to yes, absolutely. there's no place like home i use, you know, trial of things. know what a season is. i haven't seen over 20 as far as the numbers at oakland international. by the time thanksgiving holiday is over, they expect about 340,000 people to pass through here. and that's slightly down from last year. >>but they say it's not because they're not popular. it's because airlines, they are scheduling fewer flights into oakland international. and that's the reason why. keep in mind the lightest day to travel is tomorrow with the busiest day of the thanksgiving holiday, of course, will be on sunday. people might travel a little bit earlier to their destination, but bulk of the people will be traveling on sunday to come back. so i expect long lines during that day. back to you. >>san francisco is cutting the number of days families experiencing homelessness can stay in shelters. the city is

implementing a 90 day limit. but homeless activists say 3 months is just not enough time for family to have an exit plan. kron four's rob nesbitt reports on the changes. >>right now there are 2 shelter options for families experiencing homelessness. a 14 day placement to provide immediate intervention and a 90 day temporary placement. it's the extensions that often happen to the 90 days that will be going away when covid hit. there were several changes with shelter beds. the san francisco department of homelessness and supportive housing also known as hs age, allowed several extensions to the 90 day. stay for families during the pandemic hsh confirmed to kron 4 that starting december 10th, the city will reinstate the strict 90 day stay and only allow up to 3 extensions based on family circumstances. lucas de la with the san francisco coalition on homelessness says the rule change is a bad move. we can really need the shelter timeline should and >>should look like right where no 90 day 3 months old. not

enough time for folks really address the systemic for the root causes of why they're hsh is reasoning is to allow shelter bed space for the most vulnerable such as those fleeing domestic violence or someone being evicted. according to philip, there are 530 families on the shelter, waitlist for non congregate shelter. change would reorganize that number of that, it would lower that number, but it doesn't change the fact that 530 families desperately want on on the shelter. he says the number one concern for advocates is that the city has run out of money this year for what's called problem solving such as helping someone with first and last month's rent security deposits and other funds that help families exiting shelter, transition to housing hsh says families declined. 3 permanent housing offers will become ineligible for shelter. extensions being offered housing. that is like not, you smaller than the shelter signs up there. and that, you know, read it that says many reasons why families are hesitant leading nonprofit shelter.
