in vallejo tonight asking a suspect to come out of the house. the standoff has been going on for hours and it's happening right now on view mont avenue near fairmont park. you can see police happened asking neighbors in this area shelter in place since this afternoon. neighbor says this kind of situation is rare for the neighborhood. >> really is one of the finest neighborhood the neighbors on the and talking. a nice part. everybody comes here to walk their dogs. and this is one of the best neighborhoods you can live any city. >> we've reached out to vallejo pd multiple times today trying to get some more information on the situation, but it's still net not heard back. we will, of course, update you when more information becomes available. as san jose teacher is speaking out tonight about his near-death experience. he says while he was out eating dinner at a bar in santa cruz, he was shot in the back. this happened almost 2 weeks ago while he was on a surfing trip with friends, crop or shout moment has more.

meteorologist lawrence karnow is here with your forecast. lardons. >>weather on the bay area or the scion joy. while we things could change, especially in the 2nd half of the month. i think that's going to see significant changes. right now. we're smack dab in the middle of some very nice weather hazy out there. guess we have to really nitpicking probably the biggest thing developing under high pressure. but tonight, mostly clear skies. couple patches of fog in the north bay. you get up towards saint rose and peddling. may see some of that ground fog watch out for that after midnight from plenty of sunshine, temperatures staying above normal and it looks like will cool things down as we head toward the weekend with a few more clouds but staying dry, least through this weekend. so dominant ridge of high pressure will recall wrecks blocking got high pressure. the north. you've got low pressure, the south and generally these are pretty ridges of high pressure. that means not much change. you storms tried about their way through. just can't make it. and so we're left with what looks like a nice, fair weather pattern tonight. yes, going to be chilly out there in spots. it's been that way for a while now about 38 in santa rosa. 39 degrees in vacaville about 41 and cocker.

the person who wins the election would represent downtown san jose through 2026. and voters in san mateo county will now decide if county supervisors can have the power to remove a sheriff from office. and the meeting today, the board passed a vote to hold a special election in march. voters will be asked give the board of supervisors authority to remove the current sheriff christina corpus. this, of course, comes after a report accuses the sheriff of creating a toxic work environment, including instances of using racial and homophobic slurs as well as having an inappropriate relationship with a co-worker. i want people to know that. >>i have 0 confidence in anything coming out of her mouth being truthful. and saying that about a law enforcement officer is really concerning. >>sheriff corpus continues to deny all these allegations and a letter. she says the

if county supervisors could have the power to remove a sheriff from office and a meeting on tuesday. the board passed a vote to hold a special election in march. voters will be asked to give the board of supervisors authority to remove the current sheriff christina corpus. this comes after a report accuses the sheriff of creating a toxic work environments, including using racial and homophobic slurs as well as having an inappropriate relationship with a co-worker. >>i want people to know that. i have 0 confidence in anything coming out of her mouth being truthful. and saying that about a law enforcement officer is really concerning. >>sheriff corpus continues to deny all these allegations. in a letter she sent to the supervisors today. she question if it's justified for the council to take away the voters choice. meanwhile, the sheriffs association also says they support the board's vote for that special election.

we turn to a terrible tragedy in southern california where a toddler was accidentally shot and killed by a 7 year-old brother. that shooting happened in the shopping center parking lot as the children simply sat in that pickup truck. shelby nelson has more from rancho cucamonga. >>hi there. and unfortunately,

this is going to have a lifelong impact on this family. now, we spoke to authorities today who tell us this appears to be a tragic accident. it was this parking lot in front of florida. corman day. deputies were called to a heartbreaking tragedy in rancho cucamonga when deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that 2 year-old child had been shot. the little boy died after being shot in the head. but how it happened appears to be a tragic accident. according to gloria, where it, though, with the san bernardino county sheriff's department. >>she says the little boys, 7 year-old brother got ahold of the gun inside the glove compartment of their truck. the mom, as i understand it, had just gotten to the location. she was unloading some things off the back of the truck. >>the children were in the cab of the truck and that's where the shooting occurred. deputies were called out to the location on day creek boulevard just before 4 in the afternoon. >>the family is from crestline. that's heartbreaking. a version for the whole family. authorities say the gun is legally registered, but they couldn't say nor could they say whether

rancho cucamonga. i'm shelby nelson, ktla. 5 news. >>in yolo county for the very first time county leaders and community members have now created an exhibit highlighting and honoring ross aereo's. that's the male mexican workers who came to the u.s. temporarily to ease labor shortages during world war. 2. now kimberly cruz has more on the one day exhibit that's keeping history alive. this exhibit was months in the making with county community members and local leaders stepping up to highlight the contributions of dust settles. >>not only in the u.s. but in yolo county. this december. 30th will mark 60 years since the vanessa do program ended in the country. dozens of pictures, his descendants live in the divis area and historical artifacts, i save painted these walls on tuesday, creating an exhibit bringing awareness to the dust settle program in the united states which brought no
