the jewish community relations council bay area sent a statement about the vandalism saying, quote. >> while we don't know this, vandals motive, we do know that california has seen increase in hate crimes, motivated by anti-jewish bias. lot of writing some lot chasing ratings. i would call it the state speech type thing. >> and this man walking his dog apollo thursday morning. their typical weekday stroll interrupted by meaning it does another kind of speeches. we want to care ride on. the idea that i think so get not the part of this community, the san jose naacp also calling out the graffiti saying, quote, this incident occurred in an affluent community on the east side of san jose where political views often differ from the majority. >> those responsible must be held accountable. san jose councilmember to make oak and ellis also called out the vandalism saying he's hopeful san jose police will catch whoever did. this man has been pretty daunting in the stadium, but many customers thursday say the vandalism is a sign of the times for the shopping center. people telling broken windows,

thursday overturned a rape conviction after police never searched double fields home and never found any guns. prosecutors say he was home but was never searched because stubblefield a celebrity and african american stubblefield claims prosecutors used his race against him. the court determined that the conviction was, quote, legally invalid. california's prop 36 recently became law increasing penalties for certain thefts and drug crimes over sunday for talked about the new law store managers and one san francisco is busy shopping area. >> the haight ashbury neighborhood is bustling this holiday season with shoppers and diners >> but it's also a popular target for criminals all the time. so. >> the front right now is currently wooden board because of people driving through the overnight. it happened 2 times this then we get stolen from out. second street is a vintage retail shop that's been in business for 3 years.

been arrested for running a brothel out of the home. officers found 2 women inside and recovered about $10,000 in cash. the man has been booked into jail. petaluma police arrested a 47 year-old man on tuesday after a tip led them to a drug bust. officers say the man from sandra fell was caught with nearly a quarter pound of methamphetamine packaged for sale. police say the suspect was on active parole at the time and was arrested and booked on charges of methamphetamine possession for sale along with parole. hold. san francisco international airport has introduced a new sensory room designed to support neurodiverse travelers and their families. it features an activity area calming and soothing space and a life-size cabin experience that lets families exploring mock-up of an airplane cabin to prepare for the flight. the sensory room is located after security in harvey milk terminal. why? from daily 05:00am to 11:00pm.

>> well, multiple rain systems are moving across northern california through the weekend. that means we'll get some periods of rain like overnight last night into this morning. lots of rain. this is the strongest storm of the period. so that's good news will get lighter. rain least coming up. look at the roads. they are slick as you head across the golden gate bridge, there's been so much rain, excessive rainfall that has triggered flood alerts. in fact, a warning flood warning in parts of sonoma county including rohnert park and cotati lack field waking up for u.s.. bill. many areas are seeing rises in the small streams and creeks. small rivers and in some areas like colgan creek near sebastopol at the flood, minor flood stage. so this is imminent or occurring at this hour. and this goes through to got this afternoon at 2.30. so there are concerns there and a flood advisory in alameda county has now been allowed to expire. so that's the good news is things start to calm down just a little bit high surf advisory.

yes, surf is still up 20 to 30 foot waves right along the water's edge. so if you're heading there, it's really not a good place to be because those storms, the waves can really swift across the beaches and the rocks jetties. you don't want to be near that. it's really dangerous if you're heading up to the sierra winter weather advisory is in effect. we could see 5 inches of snow and even more in the higher elevations and wind is a big factor. so probably not a good time to be driving up there, especially this morning with winds gusting to 60 miles per hour. what's in our future of the forecast? models show the series of storms coming right across the bay area all the way through sunday and then sunday evening, things start to turn around a little bit and high pressure starts to build in and that means the translation is a dry spell starting on sunday heading through the end of 2024, of course, it will be certain

california graphs grapples with a homeowners insurance crisis, a state agency is calling on lawmakers to make some changes to help. yeah, our capitol correspondent eytan wallace has that story. >> homeowners insurance market in california is in deep, deep trouble. federal nava not mincing words about california's homeowners insurance crisis. nava is the chair of the state, nonpartisan little hoover commission and oversight agency in charge of providing policy recommendations to the legislature. the governor and most recently, california insurance commissioner ricardo, >> in the last year and a half 7 of the 12 major home insurance companies in california, including allstate, state farm and farmers insurance have either limited their business within the state or in some cases stop selling new policies altogether for homeowners living in some of california's most fire prone areas. that resulted in some californians struggling to find any

insurance coverage at all. a key requirement to carry a mortgage from home. for their part. insurance companies have said they have no other choice but to pause or stop selling policies out of concerns. they could face huge losses. should a major disaster like a wildfire destroyed homes and at-risk communities. but now the little hoover commission has released these policy recommendations, commissioners believe can help the state address the crisis we're trying to do with these recommendations say to the governor. >> the legislature into the insurance commissioner, here are some practical steps that you can take now. to provide some relief to homeowners and moving forward to provide for a more stable insurance market for all californians among the commission's recommendations, one that would require insurance companies to incorporate a homeowner's fire mitigation efforts, one underwriting and setting rates. if you spend the money to make it on fire safe. >> and you do it based on a certain rules that have been accepted by the state of california and the insurance

industry. >> to help reduce your another recommendation would allow insurance companies to incorporate the cost of reinsurance when setting rates. >> in a nutshell, reinsurance is often described as insurance for your insurance company. it's the process where your insurer can transfer at least part of risk to another company to help offset any potential and then there's the recommendation to allow insurance companies to consider what's known as catastrophe. modeling with public oversight, which in a nutshell will allow them to factor in climate change and environmental risks. when setting prices. >> the ultimate goal is to get the insurance carriers can come in compete, where they believe that there is enough certainty in california's market that they are willing to come back in and make investments and provide policies to people who are going to get this fixed. during an interview with us over the summer and charts. commissioner lot of spoke to us about his insurance reform plan. the department of insurance recently responded to the little hoover commission with this letter

niners. it's really coming down the season and a tough one. ben ross explains why injuries mishaps of albright, the niners season to an end. >> well, the forty-niners season is ending the same way it started filled with injuries and now with just 2 games left in the season, the team he's trying to heal some guys up for next year. head coach kyle shanahan announced that both trent williams and re greenlaw. we're going to be shut down for the rest of the season. williams was officially placed on injured reserve. with that ankle injury, he ends up playing just 10 games this season written laws dealing with calf soreness which kept him out of sunday's game or took him out of sunday's game against the dolphins. he played just 2 games after returning from a torn achilles. now with williams going on ir, that's 15 players. niners have had to put on injured reserve this season. but really that's nothing compared to what their next opponent has dealt with. the detroit lions have put 22

players on ir this year. 22 and they still have found a way to go 13 2. >> they control their own destiny for the top seed in the nfc has impressed. kyle shanahan's not much different i've heard about other injuries, which is a huge credit to them. cause. >> they've had a ton. was expecting it to look lot worse than it actually does. i mean, there's still number one team in the league on 3rd down. think they're number 6 in red zone. you know, the way that they play their on and banged up the most on the line, a linebacker. but the way they play there on the way they rush the passer, you know, just individually missing couple good guys. but collectively, they still do it at a very high level and compared last year, just the coverage better. they've added some new guys, you know, drafting young corner. i'm bringing some guys in there and so they're they're further along and defense. and they were last year this time. >> of course, these are the 2 teams that met in the nfc championship game less than 11 months ago, although it feels like it's been years now looked like the lions forget

holidays with us, which is our favorite yeah. love to hear that now. how are you guys preparing for this upcoming snow winter advisory? i do anticipate any lifts are areas of the resort to be closed. >> yeah. with storm that's coming in. we're expecting over a foot and a half of snow by sunday. really exciting, however. yeah, it's going to be pretty windy throughout the entire weekend. so our upper mountain lifts might be affected terms just the wind in general. but we will have multiple lifts open on our larry mountains, both about pine and palace safe areas. okay. great. so still options for folks who want to try and head out there. in terms of safety, though, is there anything that people who are planning to visit palisades? is there anything that they should prepare for? no. >> i mean, just in general, you want to wear layers, especially when it's when you have your wind breaker and you know anything waterproof because of that snow elevation will be fluctuating. but on top of that, you know, just make sure you're driving safely. check in with caltrans before you're driving up for this year's because it could get a little bit icy out there. and have you guys also increase staffing on your and just into anticipation of all

parts of sonoma county that there are flooding concerns today and that the flood advisories and warnings are set to expire about 2.30, this afternoon. more on that in just a sec. high surf advisory is in effect along the california coastline. >> so here's the areas of the warnings. this is around santa rosa rohnert park during bill for spill cotati the lark field wiki at basta pool. >> colgan creek hid them at the monitor show that they were actually at moderate flood stage. that's near sebastopol. so some areas are really seeing a big rise in the rivers and the creeks and streams. and that's all due to the excessive rainfall. we've had overnight on top of all the rainfall we've had the last couple of weeks or so. so that's a concern through about 2.30, this afternoon. the earlier flood advisory that had been effect in alameda. he's now been allowed to expire. so that is great news right along the coastline. large breaking waves, 20 to 30 foot waves continue to pound the california coast causing

some beach erosion and certainly don't want to be on. the beach has a big, large sneaker wave is possible and you don't want to be swept up in that. so here's a series of storms forecast model showing, of course, some snow in the sierra and some series of storms heading in our direction once again. >> overnight tonight into tomorrow and again on sunday. look for some wet weather. when can you retire that umbrella? i think sunday night starting sunday night, a ridge builds in. so heress what's happening. you see this little part in the clouds coming sunday that continues into monday tuesday, wednesday. future rainfall totals. in the meantime, with all this rain that continues to come through the weekend, maybe less than half an inch in san francisco. this is now through sunday evening. and in a little bit more as you head north, close to 3 inches for you recover around the bay area. it's really minimal amounts now coming. it's a cumulative amount, not a big deal. forecast. high temperatures today mainly in upper 50's to low 60's. really not much

oakland. the pothole itself is in the slow lane right around the san antonio neighborhood. so you may want to be watching your travel down to 80 and be watching that slowly and in particular again, that's 8.80, southbound, right before you take the embarcadero exit to get off towards alameda. as you can see, the bay bridge is doing just fine, though. 8 minutes to make your crossing their easy goes. it richmond center fell 8 minutes as well for your crossing. and finally, the golden gate looking good that typical 20 minutes to get your from nevado in the north bay down into the city. >> all right. in the north and 19 year-old driver arrested after this rollover crash in santa rosa. happened wednesday night on steel lane at southbound. one off for him. police say the teen ran away after the crash and police later found him. they say he was intoxicated. he was saying to the hospital for injuries and then booked into jail. 6.52. now costco is expanding a recent recall of eggs due to exposure. >> to bacteria and bird flu. the fda says the eggs are affected and they're now the
