>> now at five-thirty chaos in new orleans and las vegas. the fbi is investigating the deadly attacks in orleans as an act of terrorism. investigators say 42 year-old sean hsu. did rahm id? rammed a truck into a crowd on bourbon street, killing 15 people and injuring 35 others. jabar is a u.s. citizen from texas and previously served in the military. the fbi found an isis flag weapons and other

billions of dollars exceeding our original estimates and expectations. so all of that is very, very good news. >> so here we go. lawmakers will officially return to the capitol on monday reporting at the state tom wallace kron 4 news. >> one of president-elect trump's top priorities when he takes office will be to extend his 2017 tax cuts before they expire at the end of the year. the chair of the house ways and means committee claims letting the tax cuts and jobs act lapse would mean a big tax hike for everyday americans. trump promised on the campaign trail to make the cuts permanent and house republicans agree that it's a top priority. >> we're going to restore our stature on the world stage, get energy policy fixed. make sure that we don't have the largest tax cut in u.s. history imposed upon the american people at the end of next year. but when when the tax cuts from the trump era expired. >> the committee for a responsible federal budget did find that extending the trump

more on the conditions like yeah, they are going to be measuring some substantial snow up there.ithat's for sure. i've some years where we start out. >> so dry there up there. and there's literally nothing on the ground. but this is not one of those years. in fact, some more snow showers popping up over the high sierra nevada over the last 24 hours. nothing falling on the ground. but a couple of snowflakes least across some of the higher peaks. things calming down, though. all right, now around the sierra. so a lot of folks really catching a little bit of a break to get up there and enjoy all that beautiful snow in the high country for little skiing just to enjoy. but temperatures cold as you might expect. you headed up there down to 37 degrees right now incline village currently. 39 trucking. 38 in homewood and it is fit. 41 degrees in south lake tahoe. so if you plan on heading up there still, i think tomorrow looks like a good day, but things change on friday. some rain begins to move in throughout the day and that's going to turn to snow overnight on friday night into early on saturday morning. so that might be the one time that you run into some trouble. if you're headed to the high

speeding down state road. 99. what they found inside was wild. the driver had a baby monkey attacks are clenched on his person. officials say the driver, 27 year-old said mohammed was driving under the influence and carrying mounds of mari uana. it's very important not to not see what the other issue in this traffic stop i mean, which is driving impaired. he says no one person needs that much marijuana and what muhammad definitely didn't need was the one month-old spider monkey clinging to his chest. spider monkeys are illegal, cannot possess it is on the endangered species list. definitely to have him here in california. the madera county animal shelter took the little guy in overnight taking advantage of all the snuggle opportunities that we don't have what the monkey needed. as far as for for feeding it with the best thing, which is your common bananas, took offense to that. maybe banana food. any time they tried to

as we look ahead to the new year. yeah, it's it's really gonna be interesting. i think this 1st half for the 1st half of the month. anyway, in january. >> we're going to catch a little bit of a break here in the bay or i think we're going to see less normal less than normal rainfall. probably warmer temperatures to other parts of the country. but we're going to talk about some dangerous cold in the coming days. things really kind of switching gears now. we could be talking about maybe the coldest outbreak summit since maybe the mid 90's and parts of the country. so right now things looking relatively calmly. head of those thunderstorms across parts of new york last night ringing in the new year there. now we've got another storm system that's making its way across the rockies and that will bring with it more winter storms expecting a good, maybe 11, maybe 16 inches of snow as you make your way in toward the denver area as we're going to see some heavy snow across the colorado rockies and more of that on the way. this really just the beginning back. look at the temperatures for highs tomorrow. well, it's cold. you know, 58 sounds pretty good when you start to talk about 8 degrees in fargo, 17 degrees in minneapolis for

a high there, 30 in chicago. some blowing winds. 29 lincoln, 26 degrees in des moines. and really, this is just beginning. we're going to see some much colder temperatures. some of the forecast models, subzero temperatures as we head in toward the middle of the month. high pressure out ahead, though, for us. and that ridge kind of flooding out looks like is going to be just enough to hold on to some nice weather for us for one more day, knowing that rain that's going to drop in the bay area as we head in toward friday. that'll bring with it. probably their last rain we see for a bit as we're going to see high pressure really kind of take over tomorrow. a nice day. but then here comes that rain dropping through the morning on friday brings more showers around the bay area. not a real big storm system coming through some more snow on the high country to. but behind that, all of a sudden, boy, the whole pattern change as high pressure builds in along the west coast and that big dome of high pressure settling in that means east coast could see those temperatures plunge will be talking about the polar vortex. a good part of next week. it's a much colder weather coming their way while will be basking in sunshine. and everybody's going flock to california. all right. here's

long-range forecast models. you look toward the coastline and there you go. the 7 through the 11th of january and you can see the area shaded in brown here. that's a well below normal precipitation in the forecast from that time and above normal temperatures expected during that period as well. tomorrow you can see some clouds. you're seeing mixture, some sunshine, but really comfortable numbers outside about 66 degrees in san jose. 65 in fremont should be about 60 in santa rosa about 62 degrees in downtown san francisco. so a nice day to be had all around the bay area. not a bad start. the new year, some rain is expected on friday morning. drying out, though, by the afternoon, worried about that first weekend in 2025, i think we'll see a lot of clouds but should be dry on saturday and sunday. in fact, that dry weather should hold in the next week. there's one little system that wants to roll through on monday. but other than that, i think we're looking good. looks like we're going to be joined all that sunshine while other parts of the country. boy, they're going to be freezing in the days ahead. so thankfully, that's why we're here. yeah, i mean cold
