news at 5 o'clock. i'm grant lotus and i'm vicki liviakis. a man is dead after. >> a shooting in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood. a woman and toddler were also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. so just a tragic situation. kron four's rob nesbitt. he's been at the scene today where family members spoke about what they think happened. >> san francisco police say today's shooting was an isolated incident and there's no threat to the public. the father, the man who was killed says his son shot himself after shooting 2 others had to to after that. anthony thomas was in tears while police investigated the home where he says his son, antoine thomas, was shot and killed according to thomas, the 24 year-old shot himself after shooting his one and a half year old son and the child's mother to his >> for for some strange reason i i didn't i didn't get a chance to make it here. time. stop it. now he's gone. >> police were called to the

residence on tompkins abbott's san francisco just after 08:00am thursday for reports of a shooting responding. officers found a man and woman injured. the man died at the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. a toddler connected to the shooting in bernal heights was also taken to the hospital. >> poplar suffering from a gunshot wound was transported to a local hospital. injuries are non life threatening at this time? and it was possibly related to the incident that occurred here on the 1000 block of tompkins avenue. police say the shooting was an isolated incident and were on scene for several hours collecting evidence. >> though the relationship between the man woman and toddler were not confirmed by police. the man's father says his son was dealing with bullying and expressed his frustrations with gun violence. tell people to stay away from guns and >> it just just try to work out the problems the best way. what you can and i have to, you know, bury bury my son, which of with russian have to do. if you or anyone, you

southern california. to people are dead and 18 others injured. it happened around 2 this afternoon next to the fullerton municipal airport. you can see it. there was a large hole in the building's roof, but no sign of any visible plane wreckage earlier today, firefighters were seen battling the blaze from inside the warehouse. first responders were also on scene. they were treating people and taking them to the hospital, but certainly keep you updated as we learn more. bourbon street is back open tonight for the first time since 14 people were killed and dozens others were injured in new orleans. investigators. >> here say the attacker who was driving this pickup truck was a homegrown isis sympathizer. the fbi says he drove that truck into a crowd and acted alone. angelica kate has the latest. >> a day after the deadly attack on bourbon street that left at least 14 people dead.

and had been on approved leave at the time. officials say they're not ruling anything out following both domestic and international leads. well, looking into the forensic evidence. >> new at 5 as the days are getting colder. the last thing you want to hear is it's going to cost you more to heat your home. but as kron four's dan kerman reports for us. exactly what pg e customers are facing now that we're in the new year. >> along with bridge tolls and bart fares, bay area residents will also see gas bills going up this month. pacific gas and electric says compared to last month, the cost of using gas in your home will go up and average of $9 a month while those on discounted rates will see a $7 increase, it will actually be less expensive for customers to turn on their lights. regular customers will see electric bills go down an average of a dollar a month compared to last month. well, those and discounted rates will see their average monthly bill go down $8.50.

twilight. our yeah, beautiful. and lawrence is walked in, giving us the what some rain a little wet weather coming our way. if you're one of those folks headed back to work tomorrow, the commute may be a little bit wet early on as we've got a storm bearing down on california. couldn't hello outside today. just gorgeous weather all around the bay area. some nice temperatures. many places sneak into the 60's, little hazy out over the bay. but overall, we're looking good right now. temperature wise about 61 degrees right now in fremont. still 62 very comfortable in san jose. little cooler and a half of a 55. 57 now in san francisco and 59 degrees in santa rosa. but there it you see that storm system off the coastline just about to work its way in our direction. high-pressure been wholly most. that moisture to the north of the bay area. but that will change overnight tonight, as i begins to kick to the east just a bit. so there's that rain about to move onshore. you see hitting. you recall ready that is going to be headed south tonight and coming to our neighborhoods as we head throughout the night tonight and into early tomorrow morning. but not the

>> tonight we are learning the name of the woman killed on the great highway. a 68 year-old challis allay was hit by a car last week. a new low, a street. she was taken to the hospital where she later died from her injuries. the driver stayed and cooperated with police. a gofundme has been set up by her daughter. it claims that lay suffered from dementia and that she wandered out of her house on of the great highway. >> there's a new effort in santa clara county to remove what they call problematic homeless encampments along waterways. the valley water district estimates about 700 people are living in encampments on district property. and starting today, the district is going to put each of those camps in 2

either high or low priority categories while also launching an educational campaign to try to let people know where they stand. >> we don't want to nor do we have the ability to just go out and sweep all encampments everywhere. we want to encourage good behavior so that we don't have to at the very many encampments. and but but it's to the valley. water will take action when we need pto to to to remedy the most egregious environmental and safety. and that. >> and if the decision is made to remove a camp, the district says they'll provide 72 hours notice before the cleanup work begins. >> new at 5, we're hearing from a vallejo family whose roof collapsed during last month's rain. you may remember a series of storms that brought heavy rain and some really strong winds here to the bay area just before christmas. yeah, it was fierce and now the family is just overwhelmed with the costs to kron four's gayle ong reports.

i sounds like we're not going to get that much rain in our near future. we learned know. and that's that's a really need that break, right? we've had so much rain specially northern california, north of the golden gate bridge. that's where the focus of all the heavier amounts of rain. you get to southern california. they're running a deficit there. but yeah, we're gonna get a little more rain overnight tonight and some of those storms, of course, having causing other issues. we've seen the santa cruz wharf collapse, at least part of it as we have some of those big waves moving along the coastline. you're looking toward half moon bay right now. nice evening out there. a lot of folks out there walking along the coastline and enjoy what was a very comfortable day. but those waves are building again. we've had these large storms that have been generating this wells in the middle of the pacific and well, they're going to get to it again. and you can see the rain on not all that far away. already moving to northern california now, but off the coastline. but once the storms start to develop over the open ocean waters, that's where we start to see all those wind just kind of whipping across the pacific. and all of a sudden you watch swell building of these storms are intense enough. we get some very large swells here. so now

we're expecting another round of some waves building, maybe 18, maybe 25 feet high when there's a big time waves moving along the coastline. dangerous surf out there expected through sunday as well. and that high surf going to cause some major riptide. so even surfers have to be careful out there on those kind of conditions. although folks average, they do love these large swells, not going to get more on the way. well, that looks like this storm system going to finally get that ridge of high pressure that's been sitting over head today. the kick a little further to the south tomorrow. yeah, it looks like we've got the raindrops beginning to move in, especially in the morning tomorrow through about noon. and then by the afternoon, there's probably begin to wind down. but yeah, if you're headed out the door tomorrow, yeah. keep that umbrella with you. this may be the last bit of rain we've seen in quite some time and .pfact january one of those typical wettest months of the season looks like this first time or you get this rain now. but then we really dry out through about the middle of the month and that the right on the 17th. that's i think i see our next storm. a system coming through. normally it you're really concerned, but we have a little bit of backup from we do from december. we
