some 40's, but that storm system going to be ramping up. so if you're planning to head there tomorrow, we've got to be careful. you are driving these kind of conditions. a storm system just begin to move in to northern california. by the time it gets his way up in the sierra nevada. you're talking that snow level dropping down to about 5500 feet. so winter storm warnings on the western of the sierra nevada. that means all the passes. if you're driving over 15, 80, yeah, going to be some issues tomorrow. maybe some delays up there expect that as you head throughout the day, that storm system going to be ramping up starting in the morning. but getting going really through the middle of the day in the afternoon. that winter storm warning in effect from 07:00am until 10 o'clock tomorrow night. by the time we had all things up, probably another foot of snow the higher peaks there. so that' some good news. but really the focus of the storms this season so far, really northern california, really a north bay onward. you've seen tremendous amounts of rain and a lot of snow 161% of normal in the northern sierra nevada just a little bit below average in the central. then you get to the southern. i'm actually surprised even have as much as

they do. 75% of normal in the southern sierra nevada get down toward los angeles. boy, they're in a deficit. they've had hardly any rain at all for the season. that's why they continue to deal with some fires. a long-range forecast, though, we've got this storm system coming through. but after that is about it. high pressure builds in. we're going to be talking about unusually warm temperatures, very dry conditions. not as we get in toward next week, well beyond maybe toward the middle of the month. hopefully that rain will come back after that lawrence. the synthetic opioid fentanyl is cheaper than ever easier to find. >> is really responsible for a surge in overdose deaths across the country. and the drug is often called the invisible killer because the victims. don't always even know they're ingesting it. kareen wynter gives us a look at the devastation left behind. >> 2 siblings with an unbreakable bond. 18 year-old tyler gordon and his younger sister, jenna. 16 sailed

through life together. both both loved music and both teens died in the bedroom of their homes in riverside county. 2 separate incidents from fentanyl related overdoses. got on my knees and i i begged pleaded with god begging him to take me instead to please save them. you know. >> and the fact i was in that position twice. you know, it's both of my kids. it's just it's surreal to me reading parents like tammy line, gordon are at the center of a deadly opioid crisis, crushing communities across america. >> line gordon son, tyler, passed away in 2020. he took what he thought was percocet, but it contained fentanyl that tyler purchased on snapchat. 10 months later, her daughter jenna, died after unknowingly taking counterfeit xanax that investigators told line gordon was pure fentanyl. neither one of them men to end up dead. most fentanyl shipments are trafficked into the u.s. from

mexico. this poison, this drug that's coming in from the cartels is out there. >> and you need to be careful because if you get your hands on the wrong stuff, you can die. the drug enforcement administration says seizures of fentanyl, both the powder and pill form are at record levels over the past 2 years. seizures of fentanyl powder nearly doubled with federal agents taking in more than 13,000 kilograms. that's about 30,000 pounds in 2023. as for fentanyl pills, the dea seized more than 79 million of them in 2023. almost triple the amount from 2021. we're taking everything we can off the streets trying to make them safer. but the synthetic opioids, there's just an endless amount of that. just the amount of fentanyl that we find. it's it's it's unbelievable. says 23. we've recovered with 3 million fentanyl pills over 150 kilos of powder, fentanyl and my family. that's enough fentanyl to kill the entire state of california. the sheriff's department overdose response task force works with the feds on prosecutions that carries a stiffer sentence. so it's a phenomenal the turn. >> we have over 27 cases in

various stages of federal prosecution currently and all those individuals are looking at a 20 mandatory minimum, every drug seizure, every arrest. every conviction is saving lives. but for those didn't get the help in time like tyler and jennifer gordon, they're mom also has a powerful message to spare other families. the heartbreak don't ever assume you're except fentanyl does not discriminate. talk here. kids educate them. what fentanyl is. >> tell him that you're scared that you're going to lose them because the stuff is so dangerous. you that >> happening tomorrow, republican lawmakers are going to hold an election for a new house speaker as our washington correspondent hannah brandt reports, things could get messy. >> with the house poised to choose a leader on friday, current speaker mike johnson has president elect trump's support. he's a good man is a very and that's what you need. that endorsement is powerful among republican lawmakers but their majority in the house is

the president is touting his judicial confirmations as the most diverse group ever. he appointed about a quarter of all active federal judges during his term. >> kron four's washington correspondent maddie beer-temple reports on the president's remarks. opportunity republicans will soon have to reshape the judiciary. the judge will be independent. they'll be fair impartial. president joe biden appointed and the senate confirmed 235 judges to the federal bench. one more than president-elect donald trump in his first term i ran for president made a promise. >> and have a bench that looks like america. the confirmations included the first black woman to serve on the u.s. supreme court and a record number of women, black, latino and lgbtq judges to lower courts, proud of the legacy that re for a nation that 235 judges mark, the largest number of confirmations in a single term since the carter administration heritage foundation, senior legal fellow thomas chipping says too much emphasis on race or

>> well, it's been a disappointing season for the forty-niners, but some exciting news today for 4 players. fred warner, nick bosa kyle use check and george kittle. >> also elected to the pro bowl with brock purdy, trent williams, leonard floyd and deommodore lenoir named as pro bowl alternate. now for warner. it's his 3rd straight trip to the pro bowl and his 4th overall, he's recorded 123 tackles this year. a sack 4 tackles for loss. 7 passes defensed 4 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions including a pick-six. he's one of just 2

players since at least 2000 to have at least 115 tackles in each of their first nfl for bosa. it's now 4 straight pro bowls and 5 total in his 6 year career. he leads the niners this season with 9 and he has a total of 52 tackles an interception and a forced fumble. >> also, a fumble recovery bosa for his career. now up to 62 and a half sacks. that's the 3rd most in franchise history. well, you could basically pencil in use. check for a pro bowl trip at this point. it's his 9th straight selection that extends the all-time record for fullbacks news check this year. 17 catches for 151 yards as well as 5 carries for 26 yards and a couple of touchdowns. those 151 receiving yards. our first along all full-backs this year and last but not least george kittle. this now his 6th pro bowl, his 4th in a row. surpass the 1000 receiving
