>> well, here's a live look outside at something in sausalito. it's raining. i'm sure we'll have a real deal here in second weight. that's quite downtown yet his way out there. and that is as crazy as. out of fog. you're just really cloudy. jean rain and a little bit of low clouds and a lot of times on mornings like this. you have the layers of clouds, a chance. these dramatic use. you know what today's a day and thinking, kathy, maybe good indoor movies. hot sounds like a planned. let's do that. that's great. >> we know at you have the side of that the first main 2025. >> it came across early this morning. first of the north bay spreading across the bay area. if you'd like to pockets of moderate rain. but it's a
9:15 am
really quick mover. so this front is moving across and we are seeing some gusty winds at times. but really it's pretty pretty good start to the year because we need a few more raindrops before a dry spell. and that's what we're going to get. first, the wet rain, wet rain for today and then it dries out this evening into this weekend, saturday sunday, the week beyond that the weekend, beyond that another week. so really through about the middle part of this month, we're going to be looking at some dry conditions. high surf advisory surf is up from tonight through sunday morning and early. and then it's dry really, for quite some time. so the surf advisory is for potentially dangerous very rough seas. 18 to 25 foot waves could be hit hitting. and this week. and also you can see some sneaker waves, which means these waves unexpected. they could just come out of seemingly nowhere rushing across the beaches in the rocks and the jetties. and that could sweep you out to sea. and they're also rip currents. very dangerous currents that can pull you away from the beach and out to

9:18 am
as part of the new resolutions. yeah. earlier today we talked with financial expert anthony oneal. >> author of the book seat at the table who shared his insights on making smart financial decisions, eliminating debt and setting goals for 2025. >> good morning. thank you for joining first, let's just dive right in anthony. if people are watching this and they want to improve their finances for 2025, what should we be doing? >> well, first off, happy new year, sandra bland. and very first we got to do is get a vision. get your goals written down on paper. a study came out recently revealed that nearly 75% of people in america do not write down their go. so that means 25% of people are and you were 33% more likely to actually win in accomplish your goals if you actually write them down. so you got to have a vision for the year 2025. a vision for what you want to do in life and a vision for what you want to do with your money and those who need to be can grow and there's 5 stages to winning when it comes your money. and that is having vision for your money, which
9:19 am
is aka a budget. yes, i said to be word is a bit, is that you got a list all your income down on a sheet of paper lists. all of your expenses. i'm talking by air dues, nails, hair absent. you may have. and then at the bottom of that budget issue equals 0 and you need do this every single month. the moment you really have a vision for your money. that's when you go to take control of your life. you gotta win. way better than we do. what we did in 2020 forward because now we have it on paper. we could track it. we can manage it and will succeed this year. i love that. anthony, you mentioned. >> budget. the other word we don't like to really hear dead. how do we get rid of list? you know what? we don't like budget and we don't like in my is that is consumer day. you know, literally 70% of us are living paycheck to paycheck. and that's because we're drowning in debt. so when it comes stage 2, you've got to get you got to get in line when it comes to your debt. now before we eliminate or get, here's whatever they want to do. i want you to set aside at least 30 days right
9:20 am
of income says you're going to be your net pay. so let's say if you make $3500 net put 35 gaza said the same as account. they don't want you to jump over into 3rd phase, which is eliminating your debt. and i used to actually get snowball method to get out to get personally myself. it took me on average about 18 months to get out. and as the ball is simple, you line up all your debts from smallest to largest. make all of your minimum payment. maybe go back to your budget. you'll see where you can save. some take some money from there. put on a small this one. 0st. once you attack the smallest one to move it over to the next one. pay that one off moved all that money over to the next one. pay that one off. and that's what we call debt snowball. so if you get really intense, really focus on getting out of debt in 2025, your start. 2026, much better because now you have financial freedom and you also have money in account because of a decision that you made today. >> a lot of people, anthony set up those financial goals, but it's a struggle to stay
9:21 am
consistent. so how can you have an accountability plan put in place to make sure stay on your financial goals. >> you know, one of the things that idea rated this year was asked, he said my financial goals to 2 of my accountability partners now because ashley mentors said, and these are the goals that everyone to do it. john, to hold me accountable, asked me every of the month, like, hey, how are you on these goes? i sent to my parents. and so if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, a friend, a mother, a father, someone who was close to you that can hold you accountable with love, not siu going out to eat and you say that you want to start cooking at home and is set you only live once know, send it to someone who will say, you know what i thought you said you wanted to do days. i'm just going to hold you accountable about that. every wealthy millionaire friend who i know has at least 2 accountability partners that hose into division that they set forth for that particular year. if you really want to win this year, get on that budget. get out of debt. start get free journey. 2 to 3 minimum accountability, partners and or friends who will coach or hold you
9:22 am
accountable. now, anthony, what are the best ways to start building credit in the new year? i know especially for younger people that journey. >> yeah. yeah. you know what? here's one of things that are really do. i don't really focus on the credit score. a focus on what's going to happen. debate. >> but when we look at credit, especially in 2025, you know, we need credit to get into a good home. there's several different things that i was just people get fully fund emergency fund up, pay off all your debt. very, very, very to get rid of that consumer debt. once you get rid of that consumer debt that say, if you are going for mortgage, you can do a manual underwriting situation to where they can. honestly look at how much money you have saved and we go from there. >> all right. again, amazing tips from you. financial expert anthony oneal author take a seat at the table. thank you for joining us. and hopefully we can stay on track with our new year's financial goals. >> let me know. i come back and help you, we would love that. thank you, anthony.

9:30 am
the radar returns are showing some pretty good rain across the bay area at this hour. now the same storms kicking up the surf dangerous surf. this is looking for waves 18 to 25 feet high, pounding against the coastline, eroding the coastline, possibly and causing minor flooding. but also we have sneaker waves to concern ourselves with because moderate 2 likely chance of some sneaker waves. and those are wait. you're not expecting that. just come across the ocean come on shore. on the rocks of the jetty from the beaches. they could sweep you out to sea. so not a good beach day. not a good day to go swimming or surfing this whole weekend. i would stay away from the beach. in the meantime, our rainfall totals not terribly impressive, but that's okay. we're looking at temps rainfall about a 3rd of an inch for half moon bay quarter of an inch in san francisco and about 2 tenths of an inch in santa rosa. so rainfall amounts aren't great. if you're heading up to the sierra, don't do that today. today we're going have a lot of gusty winds, 50 mile per
