bourbon street in new orleans when a speeding truck when around a barricade and collided with a crowd of new year's revelers. i far that was one of 14 people killed. dozens others were injured. i kept screaming for help and nobody was coming. it was hard to walk down bourbon street today. has you thinking about the victims? the fbi released photos of the driver. 42 year-old shoud in jabar. an army veteran who was killed in a firefight with police officials said jabar was inspired by the islamic state militant group. >> investigators said hours before the attack to bar who's from texas posted videos on facebook proclaiming his support for isis and plans for an attack. the plans also included the placement of explosives in the neighborhood. authorities recover 2 improvised devices left in coolers. jabar was a veteran. he joined the army in 2007 and served on active duty and human resources in it. he was deployed to afghanistan in 2009 transfer to the army reserve in 2015 and left in

latest on the plane crash in fullerton, southern california that left 2 people dead and injured more than a dozen others. authorities say 2 people were on board when it hit a warehouse yesterday afternoon as alina abovian reports. now. >> the plane was trying to land but missed the runway. >> fullerton furniture, manufacturing warehouse left in shambles after a small plane crashes through the roof thursday afternoon, leaving 19 people injured and 2 dead. today, ntsb investigators seen going in and out of the building trying to determine what caused the plane to go down. >> we are going to in company one of my co-workers had his hair burned off. >> this man is one of 200 people who are inside the building at the time. they were all evacuated as the cralh sparked a four-alarm fire. authorities say the pilot took off from fullerton airport at around 2 in the afternoon and immediately climbed to 900 feet. a short time later, the pilot called for an immediate return to the airport after receiving

some scattered showers begin to make their way into parts of northern california. some of that may actually affect parts of the north bay as we head through the evening hours. but overall, things begin to settle down. that being said still lingering snow showers in the sierra nevada. so winter storm warnings continuing snow level way down to about 5500 feet. so that means it's going to be a long ride. get up there. but as we head toward tomorrow, everything begins to change. high pressure begins to build in all of a sudden, yeah, mostly sunny skies. make a return. you've got fresh powder to ski on up there. the roadway should be open and clear. continuing into sunday and probably into monday, too, looking good as we head in toward the next few days. sounds good. thanks, lourdes. the surgeon general is issuing an advisory about how alcohol is linked. >> to at least 7 types of cancer, including cancer, liver cancer throat cancer. doctors are now pushing for alcohol warning labels. they also want updated consumption guidelines and they want to expand education about all of this. similar to what we have

now with anti-tobacco campaigns. the surgeon general says alcohol is the 3rd leading preventable cause of cancer in the u.s. after smoking and obesity, experts say there are about 100,000 alcohol related cancers cases every year with about 20,000 deaths a year. >> way back in the 1950's people didn't realize that cigarette smoking has cancer. and so what's exciting about say the surgeon general saying, ok, we need to recognize this and broadcast it more. is that that just that awareness can help people no realize that a behavior that, you know, may have some benefits. there are certainly some time social benefits to trick cake also have some farm and they need to be aware of that. and certainly the more you drink, the more you're at risk, especially for, you know, all sorts of health outcomes, including cancer is one that most people just don't usually think of with alcohol, they think of driving and violence. >> dr khan says she's hopeful women who are drinking more

will heed the advice, especially given the cancer risk congress would have to act for changes like the labeling actually occur. labels and race currently warned about the dangers of drinking while pregnant or before driving. the guidance hasn't been updated since 1988. >> governor newsom is issuing an executive order to crack down on ultra processed foods like certain types of cookies, frozen meals. so it is maybe, you know, fast food. the executive order calls on california's public health officials to provide some recommendations to the governor about what action he could take to limit the harms associated with these foods. it also calls on the office of environmental health to investigate the effects of food eyes on our health and it calls on the state board of education looking higher standards for school meals. in a statement, governor newsom says in part, we're going to work with the industry. consumers and experts to crack down on ultra processed foods

and create a healthier future for every californian. no word on any formal opposition. more and more mail thefts have led to an investigation at the post office and now federal investigators say a group of bad actors >> have influenced the postal service. alicia nieves reports. >> this federal investigation revealing one reason why usps workers are stealing mail and packages is good. old-fashioned greed meets opportunity. but another reason probably more concerning is a criminal organizations are actually tapping into workers trying to get them to infiltrate the u.s. postal service system. in fact, here's a direct quote from the usps inspector general tammy hall. she says, quote, criminal organizations are targeting recruiting and colluding with postal employees to move narcotics to the postal network and to steal checks. both personal and government issued checks credit cards and other valuables from the mail. now, some of the thefts that have been discovered through this

investigation are pretty significant. just 2 weeks ago, federal prosecutors charging 2 postal workers were stealing more than 1 million dollars in business checks. the 2 workers at postal facilities in virginia and north carolina. another investigation, milwaukee found a mail clerk who was under surveillance looking into trays for greeting cards that contain gift cards. that clerk move them to another trade during their in place that in his backpack now mill clarkson handlers being allowed to carry something like a backpack, personal belongings while working with or sorting mail. that has been major way. the steps are occurring according to investigation. and one last example here in st. louis, a male handle actually stole 55 out of 150 packages out of a truck. the investigation they're finding that other mail handlers were helping each other as or a lookout, if you would, while stole items were stashed in their jackets and backpacks in that situation in st. louis, 7 workers either resigned or were fired. these examples just showing how widespread

shanahan announced today that spencer burford deommodore lenoir robert beal junior brock purdy and deebo samuel will all miss the finale against the cardinals down the most surprising one is samuel who had stepped up his game lately, including a touchdown reception in monday night's loss to the lions. he'll miss the game with rib and wrist injuries. purdy and the others were mostly known already. speaking of shanahan, he and general manager john lynch. obviously we're not thinking in august that week 18 would be their final game of the season. they both received a vote of confidence from ceo jed york. he's told to substandard recently. so they got that going for them. i guess the silver lining is that this will be the first time in 4 years that shanahan gets a full offseason to assess the year and get to work on next season's game plan. >> maybe i'd be much more excited that to not have one and to call it a february again, you know, but it's that
