rest of the day today, we do have these wind advisories in effect, not just today, but into tomorrow. this is an offshore wind for us. this won't result in much fire danger. but for southern california where they haven't seen a ton of that winter rain yet this is going to result in a little bit of fire concerns. those santa anas down south. we definitely have some strong winds. 36 mile per hour gusts for part of the north bay even stronger out along the coastline in some areas. so get ready for a start. and you'll feel that as you're crossing your bridges. but as i noted, we're not seeing any fog out there. so we've traded in that 40's to 50's right now. dublin in concord at 56 55 degrees. as we do move into the afternoon today is going to be a little bit warmer with temperatures climbing into the 60's for most of the bay area. >> doing fine, as i mentioned, don't have the fog. but you do have the wind in those wind advisories, especially 4 routes facing north and south,

like the golden gate bridge. you will feel the stronger gusts as you're making your crossings. >> but we are crystal clear this morning. so much different story than yesterday. >> right, john, thank you for that. one of our big stories, a woman has been charged with attempted murder all in connection to a san francisco shooting last week that hurt 2 people. one of them, social workers now in critical condition. kron 4 sarah stinson talk with her mom and brings us those details. >> i spoke with daniel drake's mom on the phone as her daughter fights for her life to me says she's calling on her daughter's employer to have more security on site for social workers. i also spoke with a woman who lives at the building where this shooting happened. she couldn't believe what unfolded. >> oh, my god. while shot by the same person. >> christie abrams in shock learning the details of a shooting that happened inside her building at mercy housing that injured 2 people. it happened last thursday morning around 10 at the supportive

housing building on bryant street across from the hall of justice. the complex is home to people who are formally unsheltered, according to the san francisco district attorney's office. 49 year-old monique davis punch someone multiple times inside the elevator. prosecutors say davis then grabbed a pistol from her room when down to the lobby and opened fire. a social worker was shot in the face. another person was shot in the arm. police arrested davis about a mile away mercy housing partners with this couple community service is the executive director, beth stokes released a statement saying in part our thoughts and prayers go out to the ecs and mercy staff who were grievously injured by this senseless act of violence. ecs will do everything in our power to support the victims, their families, our staff and our residents. as we navigate these challenging circumstances. stokes also says their top priority is the safety and well-being of residents and staff abram says

mercy housing put out a notice to residents. center. >> paper around about it. but all other day was a referred to it as the incident without seeing water was. i didn't know where it happened. i you know, i haven't felt unsafe here. >> but abrams says this shooting has rattled others. there's people here saying they're going leave the building. >> davis was in court monday afternoon facing several charges. the district attorneys office says she committed this crime while out on bail for another. so the da moved to have her behind bars pending trial due to the public safety risk she poses. i'm sarah stinson reporting back to well, and another shooting happened just 3 blocks away on saturday. >> this taking place around 06:30pm, in the evening on 5th street, the nsc, homeless shelter. the victim had to be taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. police say they arrested 29 year old taylor read in connection to that shooting circumstances of that shooting are unclear. the man convicted of kidnapping and assaulting

denise huskins in that so-called lee hill gone girl case now facing new charges in another bay area. kidnapping matthew mueller was charged yesterday with a 2015 kidnapping in contra costa county last week. he was charged with a series of 2009 home invasions in santa clara county. prosecutors say the new charges stem from recent confessions you made in prison letters. mueller serving a 40 year sentence for kidnapping and hoskins as documented in netflix series american nightmare. huskins is set to appear in monterey county today at seaside city hall to talk about the new charges against mueller. out in the east bay. the usually quiet city of alameda. it now dealing with a streak of break-ins and robberies lindsey ford has more on that. >> i'm standing in the marina village parkway plaza in front of the 3.60, gore mabry toes, which was vandalized and burglarized last week. additionally in the same plaza, a lucky california was also looted.

was involved in a series of recent burglaries. police were on a routine patrol of martin luther king junior regional shoreline. car matching the description of a one, a vehicle. they tried to do a traffic stop of the suspect ran. it was later captured on foot. a gun was found in the car and the suspect and then won it for numerous other burglary cases in northern california and the bay area. well, local leaders have appointed councilmember kevin jenkins to take over the position of mayor temporarily. this comes ahead of a special election in april to decide who will permanently leave the city. and we're learning that former congresswoman barbara lee could be in the running on monday. lee fall campaign finance paperwork with the secretary of state's office signaling a possible run for mayor this spring. she's among 13 people live register with the secretary of state's office. so far, the former celtic congresswoman will confirm her campaign in the coming days. we serve in congress for 26 years. and her term just ended last week.

here for the today, a family in the east bay grieving after father was shot and killed early in the morning hours of new year's eve as he headed out to work. william bernstein was a husband and father of 2 young kids. his mother says he can't understand. she can understand why anyone would want to kill the hardworking young family man. stockton, couple arrested in san jose all in connection to a narcotics investigation. they say uncovered more than dozens illegal guns, drugs and $1000 and designer brands and jewelry. investigators say the couple routinely driving from stockton to the bay area to sell drugs. both suspects have been arrested and booked into jail change of leadership coming to the antioch police department. city leaders are

a low descending to the south just to the east of us. windiest of conditions will be for southern california. but we're right in the mix, too on here in the bay area. in fact, we've already seen peak wind gusts nearing 50 miles per hour for a few spots. and we will continue to look at these strong gusts of 30 to 50 miles per hour throughout the course of the day today, dust, those high wind advisories that are lighting up the entirety of the map with the exception of the santa clara valley. so definitely a breezy one today, but it will be a comfortable one. just make sure to throw that light jacket on those mid 60's in san francisco. certainly a bump in temps from yesterday looking at 60's at the coast. even millbrae at 63 degrees today. areas like san carlos in redwood city at 64 south bay temps among our warmest nearing 70 degrees in a few spots. definitely warmer than average for this time of year blame it on that offshore wind, that dry, offshore wind that is pushing through oakland at 66 for your high

>> a gas leak at the laguna honda hospital campus in san francisco prompted the temporary evacuations. the san francisco department of public health says contractor working on the campus monday morning damaged a gas line staff of the administration building. they were evacuated for about an hour. crews trying to cap the leak hospital building was not impacted. no residents nor patients were evacuated. and helping firefighters are now speaking out against temporary closure of fire stations. the city closed stations. 25 28 on

dating back about a decade. now he is at the center of the gone girl case. as you mentioned, back in 2015 in vallejo where denise huskins and her boyfriend at that particular time, denise huskins claimed that she was kidnapped in the middle of the night in valais home that her boyfriend was there at the time that somebody took her to tahoe sexually assaulted her, then took her orange county released iran ransom. and when the case made national headlines reyna, you might recall that many people did not believe it because it's seen so outrageous, including the vallejo police department. it turns out that everything she said was true and she ended up suing the vallejo police department. matthew mueller is currently in jail. he was convicted for that case and all the these latest developments come as investigators continue to talk to mueller in prison for all of these cases, which include, of course, santa clara county,

choice. >> oakland police are investigating and so far haven't named any suspects. the family of a go fund me page and we have that on our website at kron 4 dot com. police in antioch investigating a deadly shooting. police say this happened just after 10, 15 monday morning on rockford drive. found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital where he died. police are still investigating what led up to that shooting. the victim's identity has not been released. wow, a change in leadership is coming to the antioch police department. city leaders are expected to appoint a new acting chief this week. the appointment comes as the city and department of justice resolve a race discrimination case that started back in 2022, the investigation resulted in nearly half in antioch police officers being put on leave for racist text messages and a lot of corruption scandal. it also led to several s%

governor gavin newsom saying that right off the top as he spoke about his proposed preliminary 322.2 billion dollar spending plan for the next fiscal year. opportunity for all sons of original doal was to deliver a combined budget and state of the state presentation this thursday. but those plans were scrapped after he announced he'll be in our nation's capitol that day to attend the funeral for the late president. jimmy carter. that's why newsom instead decided to give what he calls a budget preview here at cal state university. stanislaus. we're all taxpayers. we all want to make sure money is being well invested, not wasted. he says that's why he's proposed. preliminary budget includes more than 118 billion dollars for public school education from transitional kindergarten, through community college that he says comes out to nearly $25,000 per student. these are unprecedented investments in before and after school on homelessness. the governor did not say exactly how much his budget will allocate to address the issue, but he did say revenues raised from prop one, the 6 plus billion dollar bond measure passed by voters last spring will help those

experiencing homelessness. get access to treatment, beds and supportive housing. what these encampments cleaned up. it's 750 million dollars in common resolution grants. that's not out of sight out of mind. that's not just lacma. that's about a resolution. public safety newsom says he'll build on the 1.6 billion dollars he's already spent including grants to dozens of law enforcement agencies across the state to take on retail theft and overall crime. i'm not naive about where crime is in the state, including this part of the state. newsome also plans to include a 750 million dollar tax credit for tv and film production in the state. he says he's able to make his spending proposals this year with no proposed cuts because state tax revenues are coming in higher than expected. still the non-partisan legislative analyst's office last month released this report projecting the state faces a 2 billion dollar deficit in the coming year in 20 to 30 billion dollar deficit in future years through 2029. should that projection be true? i asked newsom the following. can you guarantee
