tonight. extremely dangerous, scary situation. many homes have already burned thousands more are threatened. you're talking about 30,000 people who have been evacuated as the winds down. there are just raging in some cases, people to leave their cars behind on the road because folks in front of them did the same. they couldn't go anywhere in their cars in the fire was coming up on the yeah. panicking. this fire now bring more than 1000 acres of 1200 at last count, not letting up a fire. crews described the blaze. >> as a blow torch, they're urging people get out of the way as soon as possible. first, meteorologist kathy trafton joins us now with the latest on conditions down there. kathy, so ominous, its ominous and it's utterly heartbreaking. fuel is so dry. the grass is the trees that had almost no rain since a rainfall. your began on

october first have had like 1600 los angeles was we've had over 10 inches of rain. so they have that coupled with really, really dramatic wins. it's triggered a red flag warning, of course, for a 200 mile per hour. gusts are possible in some areas. this red flag warning is to los angeles county, ventura county, santa barbara county, west. and in those mountains, it's really widespread problem that this time it's atmosphere. of course, 10 new dry and of aches cheating. est winds will be tonight into wednesday afternoon and then things will start to dry out the calm down a little bit. speaking of calm here we are telegraph hill coit tower. >> ok, we had a beautiful day. lots of blue skies, a few pretty clouds. we also have some wind advisories in effect. wind advisories and it's not nearly as dramatic as the red flag warnings in southern california. but nevertheless, we will see some very gusty winds overnight tonight, especially around

midnight. but you'll notice down in san jose, the santa clara valley not under advisory. so that's good news for them. in the meantime, beach hazard statement for breaking waves of 20 feet up to 20 feet. i risk of rip currents so you don't want to be on the beaches. you might encounter some sneaker waves. and that's, of course, one waves can come with no warning and sweep could sweep a person or pet off the beach stay away from the jet is on the rocks. futurecast shows nothing but dry conditions for us. so the rain stays away. we get a few clouds here and there. but for the next couple of weeks, things still look dry. so we're we're lucky in terms of the fire danger. but southern california is truly heartbreaking. grant vicki. >> all right, kathy, a 2 people are being accused of voluntary manslaughter. in connection to the opioid overdose death of a 22 year-old man in corte madera. police found the man's body inside a car saturday morning on sunnyside avenue and investigation led police to arrest the suspects. the

identity of the victim has yet to be released. >> well, this story just keeps getting worse. the woman kidnapped and raped in a notorious case from the in 2015 is speaking publicly now following news, her attacker is facing new charges for charles clifford is in seaside with the latest. >> well, here in seaside on tuesday, denise huskins quinn and her husband, aaron quinn, are reacting to news that their attacker, matthew mueller, is facing additional charges. 47 year-old matthew mueller, who is serving a 40 year prison sentence for kidnapping and denise huskins in 2015 has been accused of committing a series of home invasions across santa clara county during 2009. he's also been charged in a 2015 kidnapping case in contra costa county. and on tuesday, the el dorado county district attorney announced that mueller is also believed to have kidnapped and sexually assaulted a victim as far back as 1993 when he was just 16 years old. >> that's 2 decades of this mindset that he was living in.

>> on tuesday afternoon, denise huskins quinn and her husband, aaron, spoke to the media about the recent developments in these cases. we had all the markers of a serial predator. >> and it's unfortunate that it's taken this long to be able to really give some better clarity and hopefully some sense of peace to these other victims. the new charges come after mueller allegedly confessed to the crimes in letters he sent from prison. seaside police chief nick bohr just had initiated the written correspondence with mueller. >> that led to these alleged confessions. >> i just spoke to him as a human. there was no training or skill or trickery. it was just often who i am reaching out. >> i really believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg. denise and aaron say they believe there are probably more unsolved cases out there and they are encouraging all victims of assault to come forward. so if you're in that situation, just snow. we should always trust yourself. always believe in

yourself. matthew mueller is currently being held in a santa clara county jail. once the new cases against him are resolved, he will be transferred to a federal prison in arizona. now, denise and aaron say they're also considering trying to talk directly to matthew mueller in an attempt to get him to reveal more information. but for now in seaside, charles, clifford kron, 4 news. >> police in britain would say, too golf cart thieves didn't get very far over the weekend when police operated drone quickly tracked them down. officers were called to a neighborhood on somerset drive. and officer quickly deployed a drone. to track that. that works. the guys were arrested. the golf carts were recovered.

authorize sworn positions will be filled within a year hiring a new chief coupled with the recent agreement. >> between the city and police department and the u.s. department of justice. signals a new beginning for as we work towards finding a permanent chief. i will continue working with ms scott city staff and all department heads to ensure a safer and stronger antioch. the first public forum on hiring the next police chief is scheduled for next week. >> in antioch, philippe djegal, all kron. 4 news. the fremont police department is crediting prop 36 for recent arrests. police say they arrested 18 people in december. >> during a two-day operation where police said watched 2 businesses in fremont that are frequently stolen from. they say 9 of them were credited to prop 36 which allows for a felony arrest the suspects has had 2 previous theft-related convictions. fremont police say that they'll continue to patrol the streets in order to make the community safer.

>> love those. thanks, victor mete. is now one of the latest companies to drop its fact checking feature ceo mark zuckerberg said that the company will switch to a similar method that elon musk's x or twitter platform uses to get their facts checked from community notes instead of actual people. zuckerberg is citing the reason saying the independent 3rd parties had their own biases when fact checking into much content was being fact checked. the system will be phased in over the next couple of months in the company will work to improve it over the next year. they say meta. we'll use labels to replace warnings on post that it forces people to click through the company says it plans to allow more speech by lifting restrictions on some topics like immigration and gender in order to focus on illegal and

high severity violations, things like terrorism and child acts, child exploitation as well as drugs. zuckerberg acknowledged the changes are in part sparked by one of president elect trump's his latest victory. so in national news, the house passed a bill today aimed at detaining illegal immigrants who have been charged with theft. this comes response to the death of 22 year-old laken riley whose killer was in the country illegally. >> our washington correspondent maddie beer-temple has details. >> with 264 yeas, including 48 democrats. house lawmakers passed the laken riley act monday. she was just out for a jog enjoying the day when an illegal criminal. took her life away. congressman mike collins described the death of 22 year-old georgia nursing student laken riley last february. the man convicted of

killing her venezuelan migrant hosea berra was in the country illegally. he's now serving life in prison. this legislation could have prevented her death. the lake and riley act would require federal authorities to detain illegal immigrants arrested, charged with or convicted of theft related crimes. no due process required at all. maryland democratic congressman jamie raskin says expanding the detention requirement to include those accused of theft could sweep up innocent people. this allows us to get up demonize immigrants without doing anything to fix the immigration system. but wisconsin republican congressman derrick van orden says the government needs to first protect its citizens. he recounted crimes in his own state. he says this bill could have prevented. none of this would have taken place if this person was detained deported for simple property crime. >> enough, the bill also let federal agencies for failing to enforce immigration laws. some democrats argued states

don't have standing to do that. this provision is almost certainly unconstitutional. the bill now heads to the republican controlled senate. john thune wants to move that bill as early as this week in washington. i'm maddie beer-temple. >> all right. let's talk weather as we take a live look outside over san francisco city hall lit up in yellow the night before mayor-elect daniel lurie is sworn in. >> yeah, beautiful shot there. you almost feel guilty because the weather has been pretty nice appear certainly in sharp contrast to what they're dealing with in pacific palisades right now. kathy trafton here to bring us up to date. >> yes, i would say today at this hour we are the fortunate once we certainly had lots of rain and that's a good thing because our trees, our grasses are brushes are moist. so we've had moist atmosphere. it's fabulous. we're very lucky because we have gusty winds to not nearly as gusty as we're seeing in southern california. but the sun has set on a beautiful day across the bay area. twilight. you

can see beautiful colors of purples and reds and yellows. it's great. high temperatures today. a lot of areas way warmer than normal. look at this 6, 70 degrees in oakland and 72 degrees in santa rosa. way. normal warmer than normal should be. 57 on average in santa rosa today. but no 72, these numbers are also not only warmer than normal, but a lot warmer than yesterday. 9 degrees warmer in santa rosa at this hour compared to yesterday. for napa. 9 degrees warmer in san francisco, san jose. 7 degrees warmer. so when a spell of really beautiful, dry, tranquil weather. oh, yes, there's a wind advisory in effect, and that's in effect through tomorrow morning. and it's also a concern at the ocean is a beach hazard statement issued and that is through tonight at 9 o'clock for very strong waves high, maybe 20 foot, high waves, a risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents that could pull you out to sea. dry weather,

though, in effect this week and next week across the bay area. so here's the area of wind advisory pretty much everywhere across the bay area, except for santa's de santa clara valley. you can see right there. they've got you've got lesser winds. and so they're not under advisory status. but and some of the men enter valleys, inland valleys. we could see 40 mile an hour winds 50 mile an hour winds in some areas. here's the area. the beach hazards statement all along the pacific ocean and it will allowed to expire soon enough. high pressure is the dominant weather feature and that continues day after day after day and will stay dry, at least for the next couple of weeks or so. we shall see. but in the meantime, our temperatures tomorrow, a little cooler than today, but not a lot. many areas in the 60's and san francisco in the 60's 50's and 60's right along the bay shoreline as well as this as a pacific shoreline. so we're seeing really tranquil weather. slight cooling tomorrow, but nothing dramatic. still, 63 in palo

burned as well. thank you for joining us on kron. 4 news at 6, everybody. i'm grant lotus and i'm vicki liviakis. that fire broke out just before 10, 30 this morning and get a look at some of the video we are now getting from the scene. you can see actually some people abandoned their cars as they panicked, trying to flee their homes. bulldozers had to come in to be used to clear the roadways for fire crews to get through to do their job. there's a chain reaction. some people abandoned their cars and then folks behind them. obviously couldn't get anywhere. so people were just running on foot. there's no estimate yet on the number of homes that have burned. but you see it in the video. there
