trouble spot for an already depleted firefighting force in southern california. we know there are a number strike teams and hundreds of engines coming from surrounding states. the entire american west moving into southern california tonight. what do you see here that concerns you as we know so many homes are so close to this? he >> well, in this bill, for a particular additional challenges that they're facing right now is because it is nighttime. rtoperations during nighttime lows. little more critical, especially from aircraft are up in the air u.s. on the is experience it's difficult sometimes to gauge distance is very much so it's very deceptive. lot of coming together here right now. la city, la county, jurisdictional of responsibilities and the hills there. >> so coordination, which is always excellent. you're in los angeles between the agency. >> full force right now, it looks like the the fire is

moving, you know, way that the pushing it horribly at this time. but again, downhill. yeah. when? spot fires that could occur in a very densely populated area. it a a great concern. well, uk shunned. that's ornamental and nature, palm trees, all orthose things will really catch on fire, even though the green they will burn and they will shed more burning material further and with when it will of more than blocks away. so in a very densely populated urban area like that, you could have a number of structure fires burning and quickly overwhelmed the resources that are on sale. >> so much fuel to burn really in this densely populated area. and we saw a fire, you know, wind driven fire could do to places like the palisades altadena and pasadena and and now here we are in the hollywood hills.

you know, we see that it looked like it started in ryan canyon. anyou know what, this night at the at it started at about 5.30, you kind of wonder is this human caused? . >> well, i would tend lean toward some type of love human involved cause of of lthe fire. know that i live just on the other side of from that in the valley village area, theirs. well, power outages all around me. those traffic signals out so areas like that, i would imagine that there probably was voluntary shut off of the love electricity. so 4 of our life jackets suddenly pop up. i would tend to be very suspicious of because >> yeah, we haven't heard anything from authorities yet on so we won't venture too far down that bird walk in terms of how this might have started. the primary concern

at this point is getting the people that are in this franklin avenue neighborhood, specifically out of harm's way. and there it is north vista street hillside avenue. and there are a number of other streets as well. coming up, amero street, all of under imminent threat, not only of active flame, but again, as the retired captain. just explain the amber cast that come off a lot of these palm trees. we just saw one go up a few moments ago and it goes up in a matter of seconds and the wind is s enough here. it is n what we sawstnight, but be warned and understand that the wind is certainly enough in this situation punh this fire down into that neighborhood and quickly overwhelm the resources, of course, there on the ground. and in there you see m structure protection. firefighters are are in the neighborhood now and the water drops continue again, that hollywood reservoir not far off and all they've got 2
6:37 pm
helicopters that are able retrieve water from the reservoir. so their turnaround time to get a matter of minutes, they're so able to to make good quick work. but this is going to be a long k fight. nonetheless, due to the scope of this, the urban interface, so many people in such a congested area really the need r for you to get out and get out of eaea. . anand d the way of f they try to get certainly. i think that that's the key right there is to get out of the way. >> when they say evacuate, they mean it. and it is not one of those things where you're going to stay behind and try to save your home. let your home. . lelet t the professionals do that and do their structure protection and also do their water drops. you don't want dto be in the way of of all of these fire personnel that are doing their very best to keep this at it at a controlled pace, right? and so you don't want to be in the in the kind of blocking
6:38 pm
traffic in mean we had a situation yesterday in the palisades where people panicked and left their cars. and that was really incredibly hard situation for firefighters because they needed to get up the road. and now that you're hearing that you need to evacuate and even hearing that there are some warnings all the way up to the wawarnrniningsgs alall l the w laurel canyon and and beyond w that rather coldwater canyon. you might want to start evacuating early that that certainly would be advisable moved so that to, you people the personnel, fire personnel can get in here swiftly. >> bob, if you'll standby for just a moment, we want to get into the newsroom or sams. got an t updated map for us to show the areas impacted. the red would >> okay. we have been listening in to our sister station, ktla as they cover

>> well, after a nightmare, 6.11 season filled with all sorts injuries and drama. the forty-niners are beginning to look toward next year. figure out how to get things back on track. we know that nick sorensen is out as defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator brian snyder has also been let go. today we learned the clay kubiak going to be promoted to offensive coordinator, although kyle shanahan will continue to primarily called the plays. but still kubiak will become the team's first offensive coordinator since mike mcdonald in 2021. that also means the niners are going to have 3 new coordinators next season. of course, the biggest topic of the offseason going to be brock purdy and a potential big money contract extension pretty entering the 4th and final year of his rookie contract. and both kyle shanahan and general manager john lynch said today they're hoping to get that extension done sooner rather than later

per his numbers took a bit of a step back this season. but keep in mind, all of the injuries that is often set to deal with guys like christian mccaffrey, brandon aiyuk trent williams. the list goes on and on. he still threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 20 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. of course, last season. pretty was an mvp candidate with 4280 yards. 31 touchdown passes and just 11 picks. he's got the full support both lynch and shanahan. >> well, listen, i think what we know about brock is that he's our guy. we've got, you know, we have interest brought being around here for for for a long, long time. he's done so much for our organization is one big games. had a little tougher task as we all did this year with some of the things that happen throughout the course of the year. we just never can stream games where we're all together. and through that, he continued to lead. he continued to play at a high level. so we have every interest in him being around.

a disappointing 6.11 season. >> john got in this for the right intentions. it was to try to put together a team to win a super bowl. and that's what he's committed to that's really simplest way that everyone says, you know, but like this business, you always go through hard times. but it's it's never just coaching. and it's never just personnel that says it's everything. that's why there's never the quick answer like on on football. there's 22 variables out there. every play. there's a long season. there's lots of scheme that's involved. there's lots of talent that's involved. there's lots of just random stuff with injuries. referees like schedules, whether there's so many things that goes into play and that's why i feel so fortunate. and just the situation i am in with someone like john, with someone like can always just do what i think from a football standpoint. and i what do things from his ohn, football standpoint? it's not always the most fun answer. you got to a lot that you didn't do right. but that's the the truth of it. and that's the only way that you can consistently overcome

things and find a way to consistently be successful. >> all right. finally tonight, let's go to the hardwood thunder taking on the in cleveland. this the best teams in the west and use going at it under have won 15 in a row past and in a row and this one was close throughout late in the 4th okc downpour as hartenstein with the floater. he had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists thunder within 2. but that's as close as they would get 3 point. cavs lead evan mobley muscles, his way in for the shot. 21 points and 10 rebounds for him. cavs pad the lead to 5.30, seconds to go. same score darius garland driving. the floater is good. now dagger 18 points for garland fav outlast the thunder one. 29 to one. 22. so cleveland extended winning streak to 11 a that thunder franchise record 15 game winning streak. comes to an end. could see those 2. >> back at it in the nba finals. who knows, guys, we'll send it back to you.
