examiner says 5 of the deaths. we're tied to the huge palisades fire, the eaton fire and altadena has caused 11 deaths at least 10,000 buildings have been destroyed. also, the ventura county sheriff's office says a man was killed while trying to escape the 28 acre. all of us fire. cal fire says there are 4 major wildfires and they burned thousands of acres and destroyed many buildings. there are also a lot of smaller fires marked by red dots. as for the bigger wildfires, the largest, the most threatening continues to be palisades fire that's burned more than 23,000 acres near topanga and malibu. only 11% contained at last check. the eaton fire roughly 14,000 acres near altadena and pasadena. 15% contained tonight, the kenneth fire 90% contained. it's burned roughly

1000 acres in the west hills area near calabassas. and there is the hurst fire. it's burned nearly 800 acres. it is 76% contained. this isn't our area and of course, the causes of all for wildfires under investigation. again today, california emergency officials have been updating us holding news conferences, talking also about the kind of weather conditions expected across the area. >> when they were going to be going into another period of gusty and challenging windy conditions, not only across los angeles and ventura. we're watching winds pick up and the area of riverside county, orange county and san diego county. it is important that everyone is prepared. >> i'm taking a look from the sky over los angeles county. thousands again, thousands of firefighters are working to

put out the wind-driven flames and death toll up to 16 as we have said. but that is expected to go higher. cadaver dogs are being used to search some of the leveled neighborhoods. fires have burned more than 10,000 homes and other buildings since tuesday. the palisades fire stands again. 11% containment, the heat and fire 15%. the weather service again talking about strong santa ana winds and those could return. so let's go to kron 4 meteorologist scale long. she's here with the the winds. >> and a stronger push of those santa ana winds. >> for monday through the middle of the week, as you could see why red flag warnings are in place for ventura county and los angeles county until wednesday. so here are the conditions around the 2 major fires out to dina on the east air. the eaton fire, the pacific palisades over on the west the humidity

is quite try out to dina has now dropped to to 13% humidity. there is a breeze at 17 miles per hour. wind gusts coming from the north east and fame over by the pacific palisades. a calmer around los angeles, though. so really the now in areas and here's the wind forecast. we really see it pick up tonight and it will pick up again towards monday through wednesday. so here's the overnight rate here. this is around 11, 30 here. you can see the colors in the red and that's that the 30, 40 miles per hour winds. so when we're could see up to 40 miles per hour around the valleys. but then the it's not going to be as strong as it was with those 100 miles per hour. wind gusts. we're expecting to be up to 70 miles per hour. wind gusts in that now in areas back in the bay area. we are clear because we also have offshore winds in our area too. and that's why we're sunny. we will start the

morning off with some chilly temperatures. all have the bay area forecast when it comeback. back to you. thank you, gayle. >> we have a new details about the death toll, which again is 16 more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed to the people killed a father and 67 year-old anthony mitchell was an amputee, found dead by his son's bedside at their home in altadena. his son justin had cerebral policy. relatives believe that anthony had been waiting and waiting for an ambulance to come rescue them. another victim, a man who was found holding a garden hose in his hand after the eaton fire swept through his neighborhood in altadena. his sister has been telling reporters she had tried to get her. 66 year-old brother viktor shot to evacuate with her tuesday night. he says he told her he just wanted to stay behind and try to fight the fire. his p rents had lived in the home for almost 55 years. victor's

charred body was found the next morning at the side of the road with holding on to that house. another victim has been identified as rodney nickerson. his family says the 82 year-old altadena resident felt he would be ok, waiting it out at home. he had told his daughter he felt the danger would pass and that he would stay at the house. nickerson reportedly found dead in his bed. and 83 year-old earlene kelly died after refusing again to evacuate. her family says she did not leave because previous fires had never reached her altadena home. the grandmother being remembered as the a perfect neighbor. and that death tokens, 10 ewing to rise. governor newsom ordering an independent investigation into the la department of water and power. this follows reports of no water pressure to fire some places, water resources in fire zones. also

a huge problems and that hampered obviously the firefighting, the governor's office says it has ordered los angeles county officials to prepare a full review of the water system. well, they exhausted firefighters at the southern california wildfires getting some help from colleagues and 8 other states. also canada and mexico. the neighboring states that are helping are the ones marked in yellow. there. some of them already there and providing critical support and a lot of firefighters on the scene are from across the bay area and they're being told they could be there up to 2 weeks. mexico's president shared photos of the mexican firefighters shortly before they left for california. they were seen in various photos holding the u.s. mexico, california flags. they'll join more 14,000 personnel already on the ground. airbnb has been

adding more free emergency housing for the thousands of people who lost homes in the fire's. the company says it is has already offered about 6500 people, places to stay in. not just people evacuated, but first responders at some of the firefighters, people who need housing can fill out an airbnb intake form. and if you want to help, people cannot offer housing either free or at a discount and they can also make donations to air bnb and they say all of the money will go to that house and project. as people are escaping the flames. a lot of pets have been left behind. not surprisingly the san francisco spca among the organizations heading south to help rescue some of the animals bring the back and the shelter is waiving fees and the main time in an effort to make space for the animals do waive adoption fees for puppies. that's usually $400.

the shelter says it has dozens of puppies who need homes and plenty of cats, all of them spayed and neutered and microchipped and vaccinate. she now we knew we wanted to make space. >> so we can alleviate our shelter partners down south that are being devastated by the fires. and so waiving adoption fees is defeating that barrier. getting those puppies home and making space for animals that are adoptable in shelters down south so they can make space for their fire victims and for owned pets that are to be reunited with their owners. hopefully soon. >> the san francisco spca is planning again head to southern california. they're going to do that monday, but will probably make another trip the following week. and they say if you need more information, you can visit sf spca, dot org. our parent company nexstar is partnering with the red cross to raise money for wildfire victims and you can scan that qr code on

shooting last night in oakland on telegraph avenue and 55th street at a community center. neighbors say there have been a party happening. kron four's check moment has the story. >> residents here on telegraph avenue described a pretty gruesome scene here on friday evening just after 10:00pm where police say 2 people were killed and one was injured in a triple shooting. >> acosta takes still left after oakland's 4th and 5th homicides of 2025. left this block of telegraph avenue you people crying props are sides that work right here. >> see right here in the senate which years ago, 9 this. that is not a single blade. and i police say they responded to the shooting just after 10 in evening, 2 were dead on the scene. the other person transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition. neighbors say police were there until 3 or 4 in the morning and the shooting originated at a

community center located in this building where a party was hosted. we reached out to that community center and have yet to hear back. but when walking by the community center saturday, people inside the building told us no comment. but i came up from san jose last night around one, something in we have the whole area cordoned off taped off. you know, i mean, it was a body. lynn, we tested. chandler says the most striking part was how young the victims court. he says this part of oakland is normally safe but says crime flows into this neighborhood from lake mary. and it's starting to make him concern. >> it does because up quite often in the middle tonight, walking dogs. it also. it's been pretty safe up into the past year. but, you know, things happen. you know, you just have to be cautious when you're outside at night time. that's all i can say to just a tragedy. you know, such a life cut down. other people say the crime has continuously ramped up here, but they do for a long time. what kids without. she's sweeping new car. they see the >> a homeless guy didn't know half of

push monday through the middle of the week. so let's take a look at the current conditions. we're monitoring the 2 big fires of the 6, at least. so we have the pacific palisades fire here. that's a 23% humidity. aad we have a and a breeze at 15 miles per hour over the east at alta, dina, that's the eaton fire. and that is about 15% humidity and a 70 miles per hour. wind coming from the east. so offshore winds already picking up here. surely does not help the situation. and this is the wind forecast. brief break tomorrow. but then we're going to start to see another round monday. so this is overnight. the winds are going to pick up those colors in the red. so we're when we're talking about the strong winds this time around during the red flag warnings were talking 30 to 50 miles per hour in the lower elevation. but maybe 50 to 70 miles per hour in the mountains. so this is until 06:00pm on wednesday. so it's not the strong 100 miles per hour winds, but still some

strong, gusty offshore winds that won't help with the fire fight back to the bay area. we have wind advisories followed this area in green. that's coastal flood advisory until about noon tomorrow. 06:00am to noon. so the we have the astronomical high tides are back. so those parking lots that are prone to flooding. underpasses bike passes in marin county. so here's that wind advisory for our bay area mountains. that's until tomorrow morning. so it's going to be breezy. it's breezy already. tonight. you see the colors in the red. we're talking 20 to 30, even 40 miles per hour. wind gusts in the higher elevation. you'll be waking up to some breezy conditions depending where you are east of fremont over by livermore over by the gaps. and that should be coming down in the evening until we see another push on monday. so way it's going to be breezy here in the bay area as well. but we had all that the rain. so that's what's helping us out overnight. lows are going to be chilly, especially in the south bay. morgan hill will see some 30's and will be in the 40's. tomorrow's daytime highs mid

so it's very sad. obviously, he's lost everything, but we had about 2 or 3 dozen firefighters lose their homes in this fire, which some of the thousands of people who lost in homes in these fires very devastating. i've seen other houses in this neighborhood where the house is completely gone. in. the garage is intact. you know, it's no rhyme or reason. yeah, i mean, it's sad. you know, i mean, we dedicate our lives to protect in, you know, the citizens that we took an oath to protecting their property. and, you know, when it's your own on the sleeves, difficult. when you're on the fire lines, you have to be focused on on what's ahead of you the risk benefit analysis of decisions you make and at the time he's been in the back your head, you have to worry about your family. this epidemic of wildfire is not a california problem we saw manhattan just about 6 weeks ago in december data lodge wildfire in manhattan. so this is someone dealing with all over the country. firefighter prepared
