>> what you can expect to see in the coming weeks. but first, wildfires continue to rage in southern california leaving devastation in past.

>> is at 6. >> thank you for joining us on properties at 6. i'm vicki liviakis and i'm grant lotus. appreciate you being with us tonight. more images tonight are coming out of designated neighborhoods in la county's devastating fires continue to tear through that region. yeah. let's take a look now at what's left of altadena after the eaton fire moved through that area. >> the neighborhood that was once lush with greenery in life is now a ghost town. at least 16 people are dead. it is now. 35 1% contained and burning more than 14,000 acres. about 7,000 homes burned to the ground. >> and here's a look at the civic palisades. this was the first fire when this firestorm started last week last tuesday, late in the morning and destroyed more than 10,000 structures in that coastal community. at least 8 people died in that fire. it is now

17% contained but has burned through more than 23,000 acres. >> here's an overall look at those wildfires. 24 people have died about 24 people missing 17,000 structures destroyed. and right now more than 37,000 acres are burning. crews working really hard to gain ground on these wildfires is high winds continue to push back against that effort. that factor could undo some of the progress that's been made. kron four's terisa stasio has more. >> and extreme fire danger warning is in effect for the entirety of southwest california intensifying winds are causing on eason los angeles basin. fire officials just had a briefing talking about what they're doing to try and stop fresh fires from starting and trying to get that upper hand on the fires that are still burning by start up here on the top all start dirt mulholland that we call here on the north side of the fire. the north right side.

>> it's all looking really good. as far as the same footprint has been since for the last 24 hours. however, we do have a amount of resources walking all across getting deep inside the interior, making sure that there's no that could have caused any issues are any wind or second, but road over the lines. more than 22,000st responders are working to put out the deadly palace aides and even wildfires. >> the auto fire that sparked on monday night in ventura county underscores how the marriage of winds and dry conditions are worrisome. >> bottom left of the map. same story. we have a lot of resources still going around all the structures that are standing taking care of the heat that are the structures that have been strike. we also have some infrastructure repair happening pch there. so that's going really good trying to get things back. so get people back in their homes as soon as possible. but that can't be done until the entire areas safe. more than 100,000 people remain displaced. officials are stressing the importance of having go bags at the ready.

>> officials say 24 people have lost their lives because of the fires. about 20 people are still missing. in the newsroom. theresa kron, 4 news. >> and red flag warnings continue across many parts of southern california, especially. >> los angeles county and ventura county and also now in 2. >> parts of the san luis obispo county and santa barbara as well. it's a big problem. okay. we've high-risk areas. these areas. i have moderate chance, a very large continuing fires and rapid spread very erratic fire behavior. so these p d s red flag warnings, a particularly dangerous situation, that flag warnings, those go into effect tomorrow morning at 03:00am through 03:00pm because although the winds are fairly strong now they are going to strengthen even more. we will see 30 to 50 mile per hour gusts in some of the valley locations and some of the inland locations. but you go but above to the peak hills

live with the latest. when we last spoke to you. you had some questions about how dangerous what the extent of the injuries that have you learned anything new? >> well, we know so far is that one person has been brought to the hospital with serious injuries to others, but to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. we're told each person from a different vehicle involved in this crash. let me get out of the way. while it is dark, we can show you kind the active scene that's behind me here on sunset boulevard in santiago street. we've got tow trucks, big tow trucks here trying to get these massive trucks of some kind of construction truck that's involved in this crash. that's being towed out of here. but it was kind of an operation. this truck was in the median and it looked like it kind of hit the sedan here. of course, we're still waiting on the details from san francisco police. all we know is that this crash happened just before 4 fire crews came

out here again, injuries in each of the vehicles. but the sedan here really tells the story of how serious this crash is. fire crews had to use the jaws of life to get the driver out. you can see the airbags deployed glass all over the floor. they had to basically cut into the sudan and get the driver out. i just spoke with a woman who lives nearby. she said she saw it all and they were very kind. they kind of guarded the area as they got the person out of the car and took them to the hospital again in serious condition. and meanwhile, they're still tow. they're still towing another truck over here. the other truck involved. it's more of box truck style truck. they're telling that. so once they tow all of these caught the car in the 2 trucks out of here, they'll be able to reopen this intersection because they have both sides both directions on sunset boulevard between terrible and santiago street completely shut down.oand that's been since just before 4, right? as people get off work. you can only imagine the

aftermath and everything this is causing in the neighborhoods. people live here. you know, they're saying a lot of traffic has gone into their neighborhood and it's causing quite a mess. people very frustrated making erratic u-turns and one woman said i hope people slow down. i hope they take it easy because as you can see something happened here causing 3 people to get injured. a lot neighbors here at the same sentiment. they just hope people slow down. they say people speed often here on sunset boulevard. so of course, we don't know the cause of this crash yet. we're waiting for those details. but as you can see, they're busy here with tow trucks trying to get the scene cleared that way. they can reopen. i'm sara stinson reporting live in san francisco. back to you. >> all right, sarah, thank you for that. to mean time to the east bay, fremont fire department announced an expansion. there was a ceremony at fire station number 6 this afternoon. the department is adding a new track and 9 additional firefighters. we got a chance to speak with east bay

congressman eric swalwell about the expansion. >> why meyer with i saw today in fremont they added fire company today because they did an assessment of where the majority of the calls are coming from and they surged more resources at a new engine and additional firefighters, 2 station 6 there. so that's the direction you should be going. and that's what responsible government leaders >> now these additions mean the fire station 6. it's located on central avenue. there will now have and engine and truck staff to each and every day. >> we're learning the names of the 4 family members found shot to death in a santa rosa home earlier this month. authorities have identified them as 67 year-old clive guff. 67 year-old donna goff. 33 year-old reyna gotten 28 year-old cameron goth deputies say clive and donna were once married and reyna and cameron where their children, the victims were. found last week

during a welfare check on monarch court. officers say that they found these people with several gunshots. each in different areas of the house and a gun was near one of the victims. but police are not saying where the gun exactly was found. they're not saying which victim that was closest to police say they also conducted a search warrant at a house linked to one of the victims in san jose. a lot of changes are being made at meta. the companies announced last week that it's getting rid of fact. checking today, bloomberg has reported that ceo mark zuckerberg plans to cut 5% of his workforce. kron four's rob nesbitt reports on the numbers. >> 5% of employees means about 3600 people at meta. we'll be losing their jobs that represents the largest cuts made since the company eliminated. 21,000 jobs in 2022. 2023 meta employees on edge. finding out that 5% of the company's workforce will be laid off. those employees

will receive notice next month. and ceo mark zuckerberg says this decision is to move out. low performers. tech jobs used to mean job security. the president of technologies research bob o'donnell. >> says that's no longer the case. mark zuckerberg, the ceo believes they have to work. >> more quickly to weed out what he's calling loper former. so getting much more aggressive in the means by which they do. these performance-based reviews. and i think that's a trend we may see more of in silicon valley medicines laid-off employees will receive severance in line with what the company has provided recently. the company that owns facebook, instagram and whatsapp has also ended its fact checking program saying it will now allow more online speech leading into a donald trump presidency. san jose state professor ahmed banafa says. >> this is a sign of companies putting more focus on ai when they move with big. you know, when you talk about playoffs, they. >> they they let a lot of people go at the same time, want to change direction to change direction? big for years, meta has used

firecrackers. officers responded and found dozens of shell casings but no victims. moments later, our operators receive a call from a local hospital reporting that a young zoo for now >> was walked into their emergency department suffering from at least one gunshot wound. and placed in front of a condition neighbors who were on scene during the aftermath believe the four-year-old girl was with her family driving through the community when the shooting happened. >> but sergeant hollis will only confirm she was outside during the incident. right now we're still in the prelim of our investigation. so we don't have a motive or circumstances just as small just want to climb. go wait a little lives with and cares for his elderly mother in the crest. he says crime comes in waves but hopes this does not signify an uptick in violence some time and only in the nba. >> i just the people driving through cut into neighborhood a like, you know that's doing

the >> is a senseless act of violence and officers determined to bring those responsible just police have not released suspect descriptions or announced any arrests vallejo. philippe djegal all kron 4 news and oakland man has been arrested after firing a gun into a muni bus. >> police say that it off. patrick green of oakland was arrested yesterday after firing a gun towards a muni bus driver in san francisco near ucsf medical center at mission bay. police say that the bullet hit the windshield and into a passenger seat. police say that there are around 20 people on that bus and thankfully none of them were hit. green was charged with several things, including carrying a loaded gun as a felon and firing that gun. >> tonight, a community is really enraged and they're demanding the city save what? >> they're calling a pillar in the community, a local safeway store. and today they held a

march to city hall asking for leaders to step up. kron four's lezla gooden has the story. >> it's really important. and to my family. >> we want know that the fillmore is upset. and we demand we've been through 50 years and probably more injustice in the film or so. we will just year the days are counting down for this safeway in the fillmore. >> the grocery store, according to the community here, serves as a staple. and this departure is devastating to them was not just a grocery store. it's a full fledge grocery store. you have a you have a meat market. you have a bakery >> you have a pharmacy. i mean, he added banking. it was from, left, you know, so it is the only goal doing not i'm a little. on tuesday, a community rally was held demanding a call to action. >> from local leaders to address the pending closure well, want. everyone to know. we're looking at replacing

us in the 60's pretty much everywhere and temperatures right now we're starting to drop even as the sun has set. we're starting to see things cool off mainly in 50's right now. napa. 49 degrees. so it's dropping down. we're going to see some cold overnight. temperatures frosty chilly cold this morning was cold. in fact, there was a frost advisory this morning and some areas did hit the freezing mark, including santa rosa and napa in concord tomorrow morning. we could see much of the same, although there is no frost advisory in effect. still, a lot of numbers will dot dive down into the 30's again, napa. 38 degrees. and 35 for that. and he act. 36 livermore. so the inland valleys, some of the coolest spots. but sandra fell also 38 degrees for tomorrow morning. future wind gusts. well, we've been going offshore offshore offshore for a long time. and now look at tomorrow afternoon as the wind barbs start to pull around. you start to see a bit of an onshore breeze for change, which will be lovely. little bit more moisture for the atmosphere. in a nutshell,
