filed those suits yesterday. the suits blame edison of the fire, potentially starting under an electrical transmission tower in eaton canyon, southern california edison, who operates that transmission tower says it does not believe its equipment was responsible and official cause for the fire. still not clear. >> there's continued concern tonight that the wildfire recovery could face political challenges republican led washington. yeah, there's been talk of adding conditions to future aid carper's. catherine heenan is live in the newsroom with more on this politics. shocking. yeah. well, not that shocking are here, right? all right. with donald trump about to take office, a group of house republicans and the president elect. >> have been talking about time. wildfire aid to certain conditions. it was the subject of conversation, for example, at mar-a-lago sunday night. what happens tomorrow,

although some tension just monologue. california senator alex padilla does not like the republican rumblings he's been hearing about future wildfire age of california. we've had disasters over the years and united states of america, every region of the country has been impacted. >> at one time or another and never has been come with strings attached or been conditional. leading republicans have been suggesting that california fix certain policies in exchange for billions of dollars in federal aid. they criticize democratic leaders on policies involving forest and water management. for example, no one wants to leave any american who is in need. >> hanging so to speak. this is not politics. we need sound public policy. california officials say the demand for resources like water was simply too high to sudden. >> its territory. trump and governor newsom have tangled over before they talked about things like forest management during trump's visit to

california in 2018, another time of devastating wildfires. but now democrats are calling the latest talk over aid with strings attached, unacceptable. this is what east bay congressman eric swalwell told kron 4 today. >> it's never been done before you don't screw with people when they are hurting the most in need government. and by the way, it would be foolish for any member of congress to do this because california is the largest delegation in the country. and so if you lose california, if you lose the 50 plus members of congress in california. good luck passing relief aid. you know what other states needed. so it would be so who wish to try and politicize something that has always been about, you know, helping distributing the aid where it's needed. the most. >> among the options for approving ad being considered right now, tying it to a debt limit extension or including it in a government funding bill. meantime, congress did

approve. remember 110 billion dollars in disaster relief. money in december. so fema does have enough for immediate needs. back to you. all right. thank you, catherine. people are not the only displaced by these fires. so are many paths as a result. rescue organizations here in the bay area they're taking in southern california dogs that were up for adoption before the fire to make no more room in those la shelters for dogs that are lost or had to evacuate as kron four's. dan kerman tells us now the goal is to get these dogs a forever home here in the bay. >> i just so excited for tomorrow when we get to meet 10 new ones all sizes, all shapes, but all fall over 7 muttville senior dog rescue founder sherri franklin is talking about the arrival wednesday of 10 more senior dogs from fire-ravaged southern california. we're taking dogs that were at the shelter and up for adoption at

the shelter and we are taking those shots and we're just integrating them up here to san francisco to put them back up for adoption. up here so that the shelters, the local shelters la have room for the evacuee dogs and the dogs that they find the 10 that are coming wednesday are in addition to sierra and kit 2 of the 4 that arrived from southern california earlier this week there around 7, 8, years old. they their ac-ual guardian passed away. so these dogs were brought to the pasadena humane and put up for adoption. probably a couple weeks before the fire. so we were able to take them when melissa and glenda heard met, phil was taking in additional senior dogs from la. they knew they wanted to volunteer. i mean, i think there's a lot of dogs here who just loving walking and i'm here for it for now. the goal is to get as many of the senior dogs adopted as possible because

college shows of 1000 registered voters surveyed across the country, 30% approve of the governor's response to the fires. while 42% do not another 28% are either neutral or undecided. loyola law school professor jessica levinson weighing in. very understandably people blame leadership sometime fairly sometimes not at this point. i think it's too soon to say. >> we know what happened and we know who to blame. do you think? >> how he handles this could impact him down the road politically. i think if people ultimately find that there's something that the state of california could have done to help prevent or mitigate these wildfires. >> that will be a huge problem for governor newsom and his political ambitions. but the poll showing there is widespread agreement over one major issue. climate change. everybody on this next our digital show exploring the poor results next. our digital host, chip brewster emerson

college polling director spencer kimball and inside california politics host nicky lorenzo noted nearly 60% of respondents said climate change contributed to the fire's this time. last year we had atmosphere river in california. so we had. >> a deluge of rain. here like dealing with historic fires, do it climate is definitely something that it's a topic of discussion, even of amongst republicans here in the state nationwide. two-thirds of respondents feel the united states is headed in the wrong direction. while one-third feel it's going in the right direction when president biden came into office, it was around 46% that we're headed in the right direction. now that number is down. and speaking of biden as he enters his final week in office, the poll found he'll leave the white house with a 37% approval rating and 52% disapproval rating. >> i think for president biden's low approval rating, part of what you also see is people are struggling and there's a perception that people are struggling as well. this is the reality. and it's

>> what a beautiful day he had with temperatures actually a little bit warmer. >> 6 degrees warmer as many 6 degrees warmer. typically this time of year we'd be in the 50's for the most part today we were in the 60's. so beautiful conditions. our air quality is terrific. today and it continues again into tomorrow. a step aside. you can see all that green, which is just so pretty temperatures right now, mainly in the 50's dropping into the 40's. and, you know, santa rosa hit 32 degrees in mercury dropped all the way down to freezing this morning. and so for tomorrow morning. well, 3 degrees colder than it is like right now, then they will hit freezing again. that's possible. also maybe an app, but we'll see some areas such as concord, possibly 2 could be very, very cold wind gusts that we've been seeing offshore flows day after day after day. and that will change. look, i put this in motion and look how it whips around from tomorrow, mid-morning or so we start to go sea breeze, which will bring a bit more moisture into the atmosphere, which is always a good thing. a low

and it's mostly sunny skies for the next number of afternoons with light winds. but it's cold and frosty tomorrow morning. so you might want to bundle up if you're planning to get up early. high temperatures will be warm for a few more days. they're above normal right now and they will to trend a little closer to average finding going to see a change in our offshore winds because they're start to turn around. and by tomorrow morning and by the evening, we'll see some onshore flow. my goodness gracious, a seabreeze returned to the bay area. humidity is not so bad. southern california are poor neighbors. there have bone dry conditions in the 5 to 10, 15% relative humidity, but not we're still moist enough in the atmosphere. so that's great news. back to you. >> services feel like so many big cities has its challenges. but this is our city. and tonight we're going to hear from 2 of its residents. one, a state leader, the other, an acrobat.
