9:04 am
had to rush out and establish a bus bridge because people in antioch, well, bart was off limits. so was that bay point station they had to carry people to the north conquered station, making it effectively the first stop for a very popular line and thousands of people had to hop on the bus bridge and others. they simply said it was just impossible. they knew it would be packed. so they drove to north conquered. it didn't want to deal with the bus bridge because >> can you imagine how many people are coming from the antioch station and have to be on the bus bridge to get over here. guard. you know, i i again, was woken up to to the area. >> i saw read the yellow lights down medicaid unless we do construction pharmacy. eyes closed. there's a car and the thing on >> how did that happen? >> how did that happen is still under investigation at

9:15 am
that to santa rosa, which actually fell right towards freezing this morning. and this is comparatively a lot calmer last night overall, not as cold in the morning as yesterday this weekend. we have quite the change of pace. finally after what has been such persistently dry weather through january, this low pressure area is relatively moisture starved. so it doesn't do a time. but what it does do is offer a couple sprinkles possible, especially for the south bay into late saturday and sunday, a few inches of snow in the sierra for southern california. this is the area that's going to have the most impact with saturday sunday and monday bringing some light showers. but some of the first rain of the season to many of these areas. now there's a catch to that. even though the rain is absolutely needed. and so appreciated their recent burn scars all around the la metro area and with any sort of moisture on top of that, that potential of mudslides and debris flows is certainly a concern nearby. those burn scars bay area again, may not even come out with a single drop of water at all. we are

9:18 am
positive side. will it break through is the question you know, start setting new highs on top of hitting the record highs recently. potential tax cuts and potential deregulation. has the markets kind of a bush exciting experience at this point in time yeah, found interesting. i was watching yesterday some of the drama unfold. >> in washington on the tech front. yeah. you you probably heard of this, too, with. president trump unveiling projects stargate he had sam altman from openai in head. larry ellison there from oracle and finance heads as well. talking about this new endeavor to build these giant data centers where they're going to really push ai and be the leader in that around the world. and then not too long after that, you had elon musk on acts sort of kind of blasting it, saying that they don't have the money kind of talking down this new effort that the president's spearheading kind of interesting. they're all supposed to be on the same page. i thought with elon musk
9:19 am
in the administration. but it doesn't seem like it. >> it's gonna interesting. i think must go on openai oracle and softbank on other ceos pledging up to 500 billion dollars over the next 4 years. these massive data ai data centers. musk kind of put put it a little bit and said, you know, that's not really going to happen. a pickle as 10 billion. but microsoft's satya nadella came out and said we're in for 80 billion and marc benioff was like, well. openai and microsoft are going to compete with each other. so this is gonna get messy. little bit of drama. little bit of drama for sure. >> and i don't know that plays out. i know a lot probably probably won't be that full to a 500 billion. probably not. yeah. but then on the political side to i just find it fascinating that elon musk who supposed to be supporting the president's efforts because he's part of the administration is pump aside kind of talking smack about a little bit. you know, we'll see how that side of it plays out. who knows yeah. all
9:20 am
right. let's talk a little bit about the the economic impacts of the la fires we just had in the last hour. word from sacramento in the governor that he's coordinated a bunch of banks to try to at least give all the people who lost homes in these fires, at least a 90 day reprieve when it comes to mortgage payments. but the economic impacts going to be huge with this thing. yeah. >> the la wildfires it's going last in the community of la for years economically on the national front, it's not much about 3%. it's not much. so tune is now 275 billion dollars insured losses will be about 50 billion. the out-of-pocket losses will be over. 50 billion for individuals for la, you know, it can national. that's very nominal of arced up. but for angelenos probably means less travel, less entertainment rents are going jump. not today, but over the next several years as we get shortage of housing. so
9:21 am
400,000 cars, this is a new one to may 400,000 cars. it's thought to be damaged or destroyed. so people got to get new cars and cars have higher insurance. homeowners insurance is already up 18% in the last 2 years in the los angeles area. we'll go up another 13 and a half percent expected in 2025. so the economic damage is going to take years to cover from. that's a story we're certainly going to be following at 4. >> years at lastly, this go back to tech. look at we talk about tech meadow. as you said, trying to be the new apple. i love how meta is really pushing sort of the evolution, the iteration of its tech, its products, which is something i missed from apple least to be before. you know, they used to be the ones that are always pushing out something that was kind of like new and wow and sort of industry changing. but kind of taking those rains. >> you are right. mark zuckerberg, founder of podcast recently, any kind of took a shot at apple say they haven't innovated. what they did
9:22 am
innovate with more privacy, which hurts companies like meta because they want all the information they can on you to advertisers. but matt is going after apple, like you said, they're now have successful pair of ray-bans rain bands that can pick pictures. you can analyze environment. they could do musically to phone calls. they're pretty cool. every other piece of hardware medals ever done. it's kind of flopped. bigtime, including a phone. now, the next apple probably is not going to be might be meta. they're going to upgrade the rape. this year they're developing. oakley is another brand of sunglasses that are going to be very high end and there could be made for cyclists of have the camera right here, not in the middle and for athletes maybe likes met swimmers because the sunglasses, but for athletes who want get video of them in action, to speak from that perspective and then they have another pair of high in glasses about $1200. that may come out later the and end of the year. that's a be on the lower right corner. you and people see like little small computer screen. think they're
9:23 am
working on air pods of cameras. although if you have long hair doesn't really work. and the camera angles kind of goofy, everyone kind of admits that at this point in time, they're also working on a watch. so they're going after a lot of the bread and butter that apple that's fascinating. all right. so medica to be one to watch this year as they roll out one thing after another. rob, thank you as always. always fascinating. we're going to chat was rob again on monday. so let him know now. >> what questions or comments you have for him is contact information there at the bottom of the screen. rob, have a great weekend. we'll

9:27 am
motions to dismiss the charges against him and to delay the trial. so the trial will go on. it is set for march 17th. >> well, for your health this morning, researchers at the university of albany have developed a new test that can actually quickly detect salmonella in food. salmonella. in case you didn't know is a bacteria that can grow an animal waste and then eventually contaminates things like eggs and milk and each different kinds of produce. it's one of the main causes of foodborne analysts illnesses in the u.s.. but researchers have developed 2 different types of tests that can detect salmonella in 4 to 5 hours instead of having to wait days. and these test kits still have to go through further studies before they're available for wider commercial use. but with this could mean is that processing plants and factories can routinely test the things that they're producing for salmonella and find out before shipments leave the factory if they're contaminated or not, instead

9:31 am
during the afternoon? it's been so warm and comfortable. >> looking outside from mount tam, lots of sun out there. we do have some breezy spots this morning. but all in all most of us are actually pretty calm and there's a disparity in temperatures likely because of those winds, half moon bay. 64, you've been one of our windier spots. well, some of our calmer areas actually fell well down into the 30's this morning. so, yeah, another cold start for sure. frost advisories just expired moments ago and now we're on to that warmer part of the day ahead of us, which will be 60's to even 70's today. reyna. >> tom, thank you that. check it out. 8.18, that. >> few minor traffic collision in traffic hazards sprinkled throughout hayward and fremont. look at the drive times. they're from san leandro. now the 2.37 is about 42 minutes. already pretty busy in oakland. so international might be a good option for you. 15 minutes on the bay bridge while our richmond center fell is at 9 and the golden gate bridge. a 23 minute by darya. james, back to you.
