michael cardoza. he joins us in studio. you know, is right. i've been. >> and this center saying political i grab your attention. shocking lot of money as shocking right. lot of money changing hands, jobs. you don't have to go 2 for 3 and earth hour year. i want to find one of those jobs. you can give me 300,000. i don't have to show up. >> again, these are all the ago for us. we're talking about a situation that that is dramatic that is salacious. there is a co-conspirator whose name is not being released. who's involved here and i'm wondering what you think that co-conspirator may know and and how you know he or she may be telling the investigators things that are relevant. >> well, the first thing grant, it jumps into my mind and they care our what, if anything, has the federal government promise that co-conspirator to assist the
6:32 pm
government and prosecuting the wangs who are the recycling people the people that want to build homes for the city of oakland. so that's where if i were defending. that's what i would attack would be a wait a minute. what promises? why are you saying this? why re you being a snitch? >> because perhaps they want to catch a bigger fish. no question. that's what the federal government does. staying go for the low hanging fruit, so to speak. >> and then okay, we're about to put you in jail for x number of years. but if you'd like to talk to us, we might promise you something. don't know if that happened, but that's what the trial will be all about. so. >> as much as it it is interesting. the drama, the corruption, the audacity, it does get people's interest. people like, you know what i know about this crime stuff. >> but but but what really sticks in a lot of people's
6:33 pm
craw. speaking for myself as one of them. >> is oakland can't afford this at oakland is is it just isn't so much trouble on so many other levels that it just it's like it adds insult to injury. this might be why they're in trouble. >> if these charges are true, i know they're allegations great. you're absolutely right. but if they're true, we put in office people that shouldn't be there. i mean, think about if you are thinking about political office, would you go and do it and have people that your background? i mean, we all have something here probably acted out in high school or college and they dig deep. so really good people don't want to get into politics. if you remember back when the election for mayor was going on. i know a number of local papers said that she the ex-mayor. didn't have the where with all to do the job
6:34 pm
and they wouldn't endorse or that said she's not qualified to be mayor. but yet who to people. vote in the office? and is that because in this case, one of the allegations is that that the wangs, the people that own they're recycling company and had contracts with the city of oakland pay $75,000 to her campaign to do a hit piece on some of the of a mailer to send out. yeah. exactly. good piece of i call. i'm not saying $75,000 or the $300,000 which is in the indictment. >> is is small change? but we're also seeing a reporting that that apparently this crew tried to solicit 3 million dollars in bribes in the indictment. so we're now we're told we're talking big money mean, there's no question. there's big money in allegations. >> but again, the feds, i would hope. that they have
6:35 pm
cooperating evidence because you have the co-conspirator. number one, that's what they call hammer her. yeah. i know it's a him in the indictment. do they have cooperation evidence to show that what that person is saying is the truth. do they have videos to person's credibility issues potentially? no question. they're going to big credibility issues because i know i was a prosecutor. i've seen people hit the stand that defense cross a sunset. well, wait a minute that the government promise you anything. no, haven't promised manner well, what happens before as the government doesn't such a grant, you testify? and after you testify, we might help you. you know, we'll see. but right now, no promises. now, what does that do to you as a potential witness or you might help me hochul. well, let me be a star for you on that witness stand. so you do help me. and that's the attack of the defense in this guide. so
6:36 pm
we're almost out of time, but are from a practical standpoint, what can people expect? is there going to be a court trial is the former mayor going to? >> you know, be in a courtroom and you think this goes to trial? i think it absolutely goes to trial. i think she has to. i think they have to bring the witnesses before. it will be a jury trial. court trial managed just a judge tries it jury trial. you bring 12 people that it's going to be a war in that courtroom. and this is a message type case from the federal government. absolutely. they're sending a message out to all politicians. yeah, better mind your p's nnd q's are. we're coming after you. we're looking at more looking deep because we think there's a lot of political corruption. we the government think that so it's going to be interview, expect to be a war. do you expect that to be or that during the trial will find out other names? i i would think so. and you're going to see other evidence, too, because yos out of the. cooperating witness in the vernacular this match. but what else do you
6:37 pm
have government to cooperate? what they have? that's what's going to be interesting. vicki, what's the cooperating? not that. well, you got what? you got mail fraud or you got tax. you know, there's. evidence i would that the government brought up because bringing in a like this again, somebody so famous, you've ruined their lives basically just by bringing it because even if a guest this mister not guilty, you know, everybody's going to say, well, what you get off of a technicality, you that's always going to be the cloud like that line is cloud peanuts that followed china around the rest your life. as i'm michael, we're out of time. we appreciate you. unfortunately, we have to let it go. there could like think like really good last year. laurents whether time. alright, guys. yeah. hey, look for some rain drops. of course we haven't had much. >> hardly any at all. in january. dry out there right now, looking toward the golden gate bridge, clear skies going to be chilly again tonight. want to give you an idea of
