there say they're sick of it. kron 4 south moment explains. >> caldera times. campus students are on edge after 2 of their own were shot traumatize. we don't really hear about much gun violence and yet second happened. every was really scared. the shooting happened earlier in the week on tuesday, just after 7 in the evening at this express gas station on tennessee avenue. you can see the suspected shooter here standing next to their car and the next clip you see them shoot from the driver's side window towards this man in a blue hoodie. the white truck here caught in the crossfire and inside were 2 cal maritime students you see here running for safety, blood running down their clothes from the gunshot wounds. a gofundme for one of the victims says the student was put in a medically induced coma after being shot in the face. the road to recovery will be long. the other student shot was released from the hospital. the president of the university put out a statement the next day saying, quote, given this unprovoked criminal attack on our colleagues. i remind everyone to exercise the utmost caution

and always maintain situational awareness of what is going on around you. will. the shooting happened just about 3 miles away from the university. many students we spoke to on saturday. tell us that they're fearful of the crime just about every time they have to leave campus kind of like going into a resort, a 3rd world country. >> just don't leave it. yeah. that's how these freshman maritime students who are from southern california, described vallejo. >> they say they've seen crime just about weekly and say they want to see more police. we have more cops on campus that of the city. so, yeah, there's very little policing around last year, kron 4 reported the vallejo police department had 31 officers when they're supposed to have over 100 rose looking over our shoulder like we know the threat that's out there. but despite the fear, the students are happy for the community support. everyone's reposting ensuring go fund me so the entire school has their back. yeah. the schools also helping out telling us to maintain situational awareness and all that a suspect is under arrest at vallejo. police say they're still inaestigating the shooting reporting in vallejo jack

moment. kron 4 news. >> faculty from sonoma state university plan to take legal action in order to block the board of trustees from cutting the athletics program. the group save seawolves elect at lenox are calling upon their union to file an injunction to stop the board. this includes students, alumni and faculty, such as assistant coach for the soccer team. benjamin sima, who also filed civil rights lawsuit on behalf of some of the athletes. he says over 200 student athletes are the most diverse group on campus and are now being forced to go elsewhere. >> met with team yesterday. we had a training and basically at that point we're saying we're sorry will help you. however, we can finding different schools are institutions. you can go to. but i mean, you can imagine the tears that the anguish, these these students and then you have the whole academic side of all these major scott people that are so close to graduating and all said and they're just cutting out from under them.

county continue to make progress on containment, even as 2 new wildfires have sparked this week. the palisades fire has burned over 23,000 acres and has reached 84% containment. the eden fire burns over 14,000 acres. that's still at 95% containment. and now the hughes fire burning near cass tech lake has burned over 10,000 acres and is 90% contained. and ventura county, the laguna fire has burned nearly 100 acres and it's nearly 100% contained. the threat of rain this weekend is raising some concerns in recent burn zones. residents are being urged to prepare for the possibility of mudslides and even flooding firefighters and the national guard are doing their part to help repair the residence. >> trying make sure that anything that might be toxic or any large debris year. fast-moving water gets trapped here for so that the communities downstream from here are affected which would lead to flooding and possibly those committees, which is the

last thing they want after a big fire up into the community. >> it's a horrible scene out there. well, to get the latest comp, our meteorologist gayle ong joins us now with more for the forecast in la. >> yeah, even a little bit of rain can trigger mudslides and debris flows around the fire zone. so that is a big concern. we actually have a flood watch in place. our cost southern california. >> particularly in ventura and los angeles counties. as you can see, this is a live radar. we are seeing some scattered showers here in mountain snow. so even just a little bit can really cause problems. so hopefully that's not the case. and here's our future cast model where most of that activity is aimed towards southern california. this year is going to get some snow as well. and then we dry out on monday for much of the state. so here's what we're expecting from now until tomorrow, through tomorrow night. we have about almost half an inch in los angeles and palm springs and over by bakersfield projecting almost

2 inches of rain there. so that ig pretty significant. but that's not where the fire that's like right north of the fire zone. but if that was in the fire zone, that would be a problem, too much rain in this little time. other than that. not a whole lot of rain for us in the bay area, but we do have some winds in the north bay mountains were breezy right now and will be remaining breezy into the overnight hours. we're gusting at 20 to 30 miles per hour winds in the north bay. and we're in the teens everywhere else. it looks like will be breezy tomorrow morning. this is 10:00am. you can see the contours lineup so anywhere between 10 to 20 miles per hour. be you wake up to some breezy conditions and they winds ease here when that wind advisory does expire tomorrow morning. so here's that wind for mainly for the north bay mountains. but as you saw, you could get a little bit of wind to depending where you are. we are also chilly. we have a frost advisory overnight and this is going to upgrade to a freeze watch through wednesday so we could see temperatures down to the upper 20's. we did

with more for your weekend forecast. yes, chilly been experiencing chilly temperatures overnight and into the morning. >> and now we are finally seeing some rain. >> the first in a few weeks now. now i want to head to the sierra because even know we are seeing rain. we're seeing this is incline village in north part of the lake. look at that. normally don't see a lot of snow on this camera, but you can see it clearly on the ground that lake conditions, 20 degrees. it is chilly over there and are seeing some snow showers. in fact, there is a winter weather advisory in place. i'm heading there tomorrow. so i'll be keeping an eye on the roads. we have another chance of snow showers tomorrow night. we dry out on monday tuesday but will will be chilly in the 30's and low 40's. here's that winter weather advisory for though much of the western here down from south lake tahoe, all the way to kirkwood yosemite and even mammoth lakes. and then we also see a warning towards the central valley there by the foot hills. so we are
