they've seen immigration officials in this part of san jose, which does have a large number of migrant families. >> so once the agent confirmed that they were not san jose police, i asked are you ice and they nodded. >> so tania works with the rapid response hotline of santa clara county. and since president trump took office last week, her office has gotten hundreds of calls mostly rumors. but on sunday it was the real thing. immigration officers in east side, san jose. this video taken at the target parking lot of story and cake. it's only been a week. >> but this is the first time we've had verified confirmed activity in our county. ice officials did not reply to kron four's request for comment. so we don't know if they're arrested anyone but montano says she thinks it was targeting just one or 2 people. they were heading back to their car. some of the exit of the house and at they said it's not him and they said no. at san jose. mayor matt mahan says san jose police were aware that ice was in town and sent a statement to kron. 4 news saying in part, i sincerely hope ice remains

including those without legal status. alameda county officials recently held a meeting in oakland now to new efforts to poll protections for those who are at risk of deportation. county officials have launched a website to provide resources for the community provides a list legal resources, the kind informational workshops aimed to help educate the undocumented hotline to report an answer. questions is expected to be ready by february 17th. also in the east bay, richmond's mayor and city manager releasing a joint statement saturday pledging to stand by the city's majority latino population amid the federal immigration policy changes according to the 2023 cents is the community has a population estimated to be around 114,000 people. nearly 47% being hispanic or latino officials emphasize richmond police do not inquire about immigration status and they added they are committed to upholding sanctuary cities and policies. well, school vallejo forced to shut down after copper theft. that's all the electricity out of ability.

school officials say it happened sometime between friday evening and early saturday at weidman leadership academy staff realize the power was out moments before they hosted a basketball game competition in a letter to families, school officials are saying repairs going to likely take a week leaving students out of class for that time. the state across for the vallejo city unified school district's superintendent says we're deeply saddened and frustrated. this is happening again. one of our schools, these incidents is repped learning negatively impacting families and the entire school community adding the district is working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible. >> well, happening right now, coacheand students from sonoma state university are preparing a lawsuit in order to block the recent board of trustees decision to cut athletics programs there at that university. crawford's will trend live home state university with more on that will. well, instead of taking to the basketball courts, example, for sonoma state. >> university athletes, they

are going to the courts, the court of law hoping to force the board of trustees to keep the sports programs going. they got a gut punch last wednesday when the school, all of a sudden announced and it caught the athletes and the coaches by surprise that they were cutting the sports programs, claiming that they are staring at a 24 million dollar budget deficit and they need to get rid of the sports programs as well as some majors and dozens of faculty members could be laid off as they are trying to close that budget gap. now, the sports programs, the coaches, the athletes, they say this drastically impacts him because they thought that's the programs and the schools are doing well and that the 9500 university campus, the students that go here that there is actually a waiting list thinking that they were financially doing well, it turns out, according to the but the board of trustees that they are not. and that is why they want to go to the

>> 7.31 is the time. and today is international holocaust remembrance day marking 80 years since the liberation of the auschwitz concentration camp across the bay. many are going to be holding and the murder of events to pay tribute to the 6 million jewish victims of the holocaust. >> of congress, joey horta live in san francisco with more on that chilly. >> guys. good morning. yeah. the seats at community centers like this one and synagogues across the bay area will be filled tonight as people come in to reflect on the 6 million jews killed in the holocaust. and of course, decades later, anti-semitism is still big threat out there. that's very real. were inside the bin or a center of the russian-speaking jewish community of san francisco, local and state leaders will gather in the city today. survivors will be sharing their powerful stories to offer their perspectives to make sure this dark period in history is never forgotten. many in the bay area lost family members in the

you see the flames coming from that one unit. this was near campus or the compass children's center. nobody was inside that apartment because of the fire still under investigation. in the east bay. the alameda county fire department responded to this fire right near challenger field. this was about 5 o'clock or so last evening, firefighters put it out. it wasn't a camp and fire. they contained to just there at the side of the road. no injuries reported and the cause of that fire is also under investigation. well, in the east bay, a canadian vaness and it's 2 years in prison after he sexually extorting. >> miner contra costa county. these also identified the man as 25 year-old nicholas fahy. so you may contact with the victim over social media back in 2019, requested sexually explicit images of the victim. well, the victim complied a threat, unreleased images unless more were sent. many police arrested fahy at his home back in 2021. woman is dead after she was trapped under a car following a crash

in berkeley. police say this happened at the intersection of 8 in california just before one sunday afternoon. fire crews. they had to lift up the car to get her out from under the vehicle. she was sent to the hospital where she later died. police have not made any arrests, but it's unclear what caused the crash. and a pedestrian was hit and killed in vallejo this weekend marking the first traffic fatality of 2025. say this happened saturday night and the area of sonoma boulevard in limon street. found a man lying on the road. and despite efforts of the first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. how the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with that investigation. will to delay a college students were caught in the crossfire at a gas station shooting in one of those young man is now fighting for his life. other shooting draws increased attention to crime in the city. >> well, moment has that story. >> caldera times, campus students are on edge after 2 of their own were shot traumatize. we don't really hear about much gun violence.

and second happened. every was really scared. the shooting happened on tuesday just after 7 in the evening at this express gas station on tennessee avenue. you can see the suspected shooter here standing next to their car and the next clip you see them shoot from the driver's side window towards this man in a blue hoodie. the white truck here caught in the crossfire and inside were 2 cal maritime students you see here running for safety, blood running down their clothes from the gunshot wounds. a gofundme for one of the victims says the student was put in a medically induced coma after being shot in the face. the road to recovery will be long. the other student shot was released from the hospital. the president of the university put out a statement the next day saying, quote, given this unprovoked criminal attack on our colleagues. i remind everyone to exercise the utmost caution and always maintain situational awareness of what is going on around you. will the shooting happened just about 3 miles away from the university. many students we spoke to on saturday. tell us that they're fearful of the crime just about every time

institute, which ranked the city as 108 out of 200 large metro areas across the country when it comes to their best performing cities report. now, this is all based on tech sector growth, labor market and access to economic opportunities. some of the variables that they looked at in 2020 for the city was ranked. 44, so it slid down quite a bit. 10 years ago is actually ranked number one. one expert states that companies mandating these return to office policies instead of allowing remote work to continue could help the city's ranking. we'll see. well, santa rosa city schools have reached 86.3% graduation rate. and according to school officials, that's up a couple of points from the rate that they had before the pandemic statewide. the graduation rate is also 86.4%. that's all according to the california department of education. however, a significant decline in enrollment has led to major budget deficit and without significant reduction in that deficit. well, the district

firefighters are making progress when it comes to containment, for instance, the palisades fire, which you see there in the far left window that fire has burned about 23,000 acres. containment, though, has gone up to 90%. now in the middle is the eaton fire. 14,000 acre fire there. that one is nearly 100% perhaps in the next hour. we'll get an update that it is officially 100. we'll see. and then on the right, the hughes fire. that's the most recent one burning that one broke out in castaic lake nearby burned about 10,000 acres so far. but they've got containment that fire up to 95 percent. now. and with these recent storm systems there in la county, officials are warning about the possibility of fast-moving mud and debris flows and they're urging residents to stay alert getting some rain. and that's the worry firefighters in the national guard are doing their part to try prepare residents. they're removing as much debris as possible from the birds zone. so they don't they don't slow down into populated areas. but we'll have to just wait and seen job.

for those upper elevations and we even have snow fall on the grapevine this morning. that's really complicating travel over. i-5 still a little bit of light rain for southern california. very tail end of it. we stay dry in the bay area until thursday night. and even then yet again, the bay is right on the cusp of rainfall. potential this time around those greatest of totals will be up in the north coast. a pretty typical system right here. some good snowfall in the sierra. but for the bay north of the golden gate, it's going to be a rainy weekend south of the golden gate. again, just a few light sprinkles. take a look at these projections of rainfall as we do move through the weekend into early next week. santa rosa, full inch and a half that some pretty decent rain. look at san jose. hardly a drop 607 inch of rain. so really just depends on where you'll be for the south bay. it's going to be a calm weekend for the north bay. kind of a wet one. today's daytime highs in the 50's to 60's a cool comfortably. cool one. i keep the jacket with you all day long for sure. and

surrounded the house eventually got the suspect to come out. that suspect has been identified as juan montoya. now, according to deputies, montoya stole 50 items worth roughly $3,000. deputies say he was also involved in a separate burglary at that same home earlier. in pleasanton, a group of miners were briefly in police custody, accused of stealing a car on saturday. officers say it happened at about 03:30am, in the morning on hop here at road. they found the suspects and afterwards discovered evidence related to another theft in pleasanton. the group was cited and released to their parents. >> the layup police continue crack down on reckless driving after his side, children and 200 car saturday night seems be tracking down some of the participants only for them, we're told placed on a 30 day hold impound lot. cars are impounded for that amount of time. could face a total of over $2000 fees. well, police are saying 300 pedestrians attended. 2 of the people involved are arrested and 13 others were cited. and the
