something we are most familiar with here in california wildfires. so there will be discussions on more accurate forecasts and also forecasting the winds during those fires. so a lot to cover here or not that place to do it in here in south lake tahoe, down the mountain and heavenly mountain resort could use a little more snow. we haven't had measurable precipitation in about 3 weeks, but we are tracking the next round. the next out, though, hopefully this weekend. so there is excitement for really excited about the technology side of this because i'm a nerd like that. but are did. are they talking about like different computer algorithms that they're using to help forecast talking about new satellites like when you expect to hear on that front. >> yeah, a wide range of topics. and james, i know you love this step as well. so a lot of excitement on there's there's a discussions on ai liar, weather forecasting. there is a meteorologist from pg and e here. >> and there's also a former

fema director and they will be talking about hurricanes flooded wrist and those zones as well. a scientist from stanford. so there is that so many experts here and there's another wildfire expert here. you know, who'll particularly talk about coastal wildfire risk, which timely, you know, based on what is happening in southern california. so a lot to here. the next 2 days. excited to bring you all the information i learn. >> know it's going to kind of interesting, too. and just like the insurance front with so many people losing insurance, like if they can better improve the forecasting, maybe more insurance companies will be, you know, willing to come back and offering no homeowners and fire insurance, whatnot here. and one of the think one of the side angles, you know, that could play or is about anyway. yeah, absolutely. i'm sure that will come up cares about some trends that they're talking about. so you mentioned we could. >> use a lot more snow and a lot more water throughout the state. so what are some of the trends that they're seen?
10:48 am
>> you know, so many meteorologist, a tv meteorologist and scientists from across the country, some from our nexstar stations as well here to learn people from michigan, colorado, florida. so there's going to be a lot of discussions here and you know something, it. we had our opening reception night last night and something that came up was, of course, to wildfires what's happening in southern california and also just how dry it's been as well. >> yeah, well, you you couldn't ask for like smarter people in a single room to start, you know, brainstorming, all of that kind of stuff. so we're excited to see what comes out of that. gale, we're looking forward to hearing your report after the fact. yeah, kudos to you for being out there bringing all that great knowledge stay warm. >> especially this year's, you know, in middle of winter, we still have fire season. we still have that new snowfall up there. and that variety, especially for southern california within just a few days of each other. this is your look at lake tahoe right here, which is actually fairly dry. this was a southern california centric system. and

with that, we just saw our winter weather advisories expiring moments ago for the southern sierra south of yosemite national park. the area that's on the most news snowfall we still do actually have a little bit of snow falling in the hills above los angeles saw a closure along the grapevine last night into this morning because of snow at some decently low elevations along the grapevine. definitely cold enough in the bay area to have seen that snow. but we've been dry since just a couple of rainfall very uniformly across northern california. it until you reach the bay area. we're right on the cusp of rainfall. potential. and that means areas to the north over the weekend like santa rosa are actually going to see some impressive rainfall totals while southern parts of the bay might not see much more than a couple of sprinkles for the sierra, this is going to be good news, though. multiple

inches of snowfall. in fact, donner summit could see a foot of snow up there at the crest of i-80 santa rosa. a whole inch and a half or more of rainfall while san jose, maybe just a few sprinkles with 607 inch of rain. so your weekend forecast really just depends on how far north of the golden gate you are and how far south of that you are as well. again, right on the edge of that rainfall, potential 50's for your daytime highs in the city and up the coastline today in most of the rest of us will be 60's. that includes areas like san mateo barely getting up our other. 59 for san mateo, you will get to the 60's, though, for the south bay with san jose at 63 degrees for your high today. 60's as well for the east bay. very similar feel to yesterday, which as you remember, cleared up pretty nicely and was comfortably cool into the afternoon. as long as you are bundled up, napa at 64 1 of our warmer spots in the bay this afternoon. a look ahead. does show temperatures pretty steady, but a little bit cooler towards wednesday and thursday, the weekend ahead

10:52 am
there for a 9 yard. teddy in philly where their pouring it on at this point, just for good measure talk about park began. he said i can miss 4th quarter here. he runs it in for his 3rd touchdown of the day. what a day for barkley. 50 carries 122 total yards for the eagles. will they hit 7 rushing touchdowns on the day as they dominate the commanders in record-setting fashion. >> 55 to 23 is they punched their ticket to super bowl course. the second time in the last 3 years. so what will the eagles actually face in the super bowl? well, let's head out to the afc title game kansas city where they were hosting the bills. we'll pick this one up in the 4th quarter and it's the bill's leading by one. 0st thing go here for the chiefs and patrick mahomes fake. the handoff takes it himself breaks a tackle by the pay there for the go ahead, touchdown. chiefs will go for to end. they would convert. so kansas city goes up by 7 on that drive. but the bills will they answer back going forward, of course, on 4th and goal. josh allen jobs back to pass. throws a dart right to
