for san mateo county sheriff christina corpus. yet another city is expected to say they have no confidence in her leadership. >> 6. good morning and thanks for waking up with us on a tuesday. i'm darya and james, we've got lots of news to get to. you. just saw the headlines there. we'll get to those stories in a minute. but first want to start with a check of the weather cold again and it is next for chilly. good morning, nights are chilly. these mornings are chilly. if you're just about to head outside, you might want to grab a warm coat. you'll probably be happy. you did because there are freeze warnings and there are frost advisories across the bay area. in fact, if you're down in the santa clara valley, you're going to dealing with a frost, what warning? and also a freeze warning. and that's also for the southern east bay mountains and hills. so that's for subfreezing temperatures down there. frost advisory across much of the bay area today, although right by the water's edge, not so much, but

francisco south of market neighborhood. >> has been shot and killed by police. police say a gunman shot another man in the area of 9th. >> and mission that victim was critically injured and taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. meantime, the suspected gunman got into a standoff with police at a nearby building. and police say the suspect refused to leave that building. and then in exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the officer, that gunman was killed by police bullets. sapd will hold a town hall regarding the shooting in about 10 days as it is under investigation and they'll have more for the community. then. >> and another breaking story that we're covering from overnight. a woman was found dead on a sidewalk in santa rosa. and so police are investigating what happened. the body was found on white would drive north of herndon avenue around 7 o'clock last night. no arrests have been made. >> well, the trump administration is moving forward with its mass deportation plans. we know of arrests in both san jose and

now san francisco kron fpur's joey horta is live in downtown talking to people about immigrants rights this morning, joey. >> good morning. darya and james, just we're expecting to hear from city leaders union leaders this morning. they're calling for justice for undocumented immigrants. according to state senator scott wiener, immigration and customs enforcement agents were spotted in downtown san francisco on friday. san francisco janitors union confirming that agents were inside 2 office buildings, but did not make any arrests. >> our city one function without or janitors. the keeper offices cleaned to help our economy run their salt of the earth. they're just trying to work and pay taxes and raise their families. >> i do think that the scare tactic is something. that. mr. trump is banking on and i'll be honest with you. i think

that is working in some sectors site. i have heard that some folks are afraid going to work, sending the kids to school and maybe even giving up. and and going back to where they came from and >> that's bill hitting the founder of immigration and deportation. defense clinic at the university of san francisco. he says the clinic is getting a lot of phone calls about ice raids happening. agents also spotted sunday and the target parking lot in san jose. according to the rapid response network. now, again, we're expecting to hear from city leaders coming up here at 11 o'clock this morning and union members as well that represent the janitors about all of this. and they're calling attempts by ice agents to possibly make arrests here. the city as troubling. we'll have more on that coming up later this morning. back to you. all right. thanks a lot, 604, is the time. also happening today, the city of millbrae

will be holding a vote of no confidence against controversial san mateo county sheriff christina corpus. the resolution part of a wave of actions that are happening against the sheriff in recent weeks. kron four's will tran is live in millbrae with more. well. >> the vote will take place right behind me at 7 o'clock tonight, depending on how they vote. well, it could be another hit against christina corpus. >> because there's a lot of people in san mateo county, including the voters. they could decide whether or not she leaves her office long before she wants to. right now she is in battled accused of many things, including racism, homophobia, abuse of power and nepotism. all allegations that she denies now right now, what's going to happen is they will take the vote at 7 o'clock tonight. and then there's a bigger issue facing. >> christina corpus because, well, ballots have already been for a special election on march. 4th during that

election. it's a measure depending on what the voters decide. it could allow the county board of supervisors to ultimately remove her from office. now her lawyers claim they are not allowed to do that. that the city charters. he's me, the county charter does not allow a special election of this kind that it has to be held in a special a general election in november of 2026. but according to the county, her rebuttal came too late that the ballots have already been sent out. and that all systems go for it. again, it does not matter whether or not there is a no confidence vote. and we do expect that the city council will vote no confidence for christina corpus. but the fact is that we aren't even here in the first place is just another hit against the sheriff. thank you very much. well, 606, is the time and the coalition for community engagement is calling on alameda county supervisors to

reveal. general rob bo pick for the next desist district attorney, former alameda county da pamela price was recalled, as you know, and the group is demanding transparency for political endorsements that are lobbying for bond. a bond recommendation. they're holding a news conference today at 2 o'clock outside the justice building. >> well, a sideshow led to a shooting in oakland sunday night where one person died and 2 others were injured at an intersection right there at 12th street and 9th avenue. right near 8.80. those victims were located at a nearby hospital following the sideshow. the 2 victims are 2 other victims, i should say are in stable condition. meanwhile, the leo police are teaming up with the chp to crack down on sideshows and reckless driving. a new operation started this weekend. and hansen, the number of patrols in the streets. police say the extra patrols will allow them to more easily disrupt the sideshows and hold suspects accountable. >> time now 607, and speeding

drivers in san francisco. they're going to be caught more because they're installing now. 33 more cameras mean the more goal is to slow down drivers and save lives. scrum for sarah stinson takes a look. >> these cameras are being installed. a san francisco comes off its deadliest year of traffic crashes in the last decade. i spoke with street safety advocates at walk sf who say speed is the number one cause of deadly crashes and they're hopeful these cameras will prevent more deaths. >> speeding drivers will soon be caught on camera in san francisco. sfmta is installing speed cameras at 33 locations across the city last year. there were 42 people killed in traffic crashes in san francisco. that was the worst in a decade. and so the speed cameras can't really get on the ground soon enough. this map shows where the cameras will be with at least 2 in each district and 7 in the south of market neighborhood

lindsay with walk sf says they recently visited one of the locations on ala many boulevard where they measure drivers going. 48 miles per hour in a 30 zone. all of the locations make a ton of sense. if you look at how the city chose these its base on very high crash rates, high-speed issues. they you know, they went out and tested all of these. the cameras will snap photos of rear license plates of vehicles driving 11 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit. then the registered owner will receive a citation in the mail ranging from 50 to $500 depending on the speed. lindsey says the best way to avoid a fine is to slow down. there's going to be plenty of signs around that show where these by speed cameras are. so this isn't going to be any sort of gotcha experience. and again, this is to change behavior. it's not to make money. sfmta has put up 8 billboards warning drivers of the cameras coming this march saying obey the

speed limit. permanent signs will also be placed at 30 major city entrances that say traffic laws in san francisco are photo enforced and crews were seen monday afternoon installing new speed limit signs on gary street speed cameras work and they don't just work in sunriver zone. they work in preventing severe and fatal traffic crashes. once the speed cameras are up in march. sfmta plans to issue warning notices to speeding drivers for the first 2 months. then the fines will be mailed out after that. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in san francisco back to. >> 609. and new this morning, the new mayor, san francisco, daniel lurie, is attacking the fentanyl crisis head on today. he starts a series of public events to highlight. he's fentanyl, state of the emergency. the legislation's going to be heard at the board of supervisors, budget and finance committee on wednesday. and today he's going to be talking at a rally at city hall at 11, 30 and at

degrees in livermore and 31 degrees in santa rosa. 28 for fairfield, fairfax. 29, 42, particularly 43, san francisco. so it really varies. but some areas are really chilly. and then this afternoon to be warm things up. we get into the 50's and even the 60's. san francisco. 56 and is a 63 under mostly sunny skies winds. not a big factor today. we've got the offshore direction. so we're not seeing any sea breezes today and fairly light winds until we get through this evening at around the coast will get up to 70 miles per hour. perhaps at the coastal zones. but you say we don't have the seabreeze. so we're not having a whole lot of fog coming in. high pressure is still our dominant weather feature and all the clouds go up and over it. so that stays with us for a few days. and then things start to change. so the 3 day forecast does show mostly sunny skies in the afternoons and then we start to cloud things up on thursday and then things change because

there's a chance of rain. and my goodness gracious, we need it. we are in drought in southern california and central california. it was actually at normal drought. we're not quite in drought category here in the bay area, but we're mighty close forecast models do show as the hype breaks down, it looks promising, doesn't it? look at precipitation just off our coastline. notice on friday into saturday, the dividing line between rain and no rain seems to be the golden gate. so i would forecast a lot more rain for northern the north bay and then, of course, the main pulls back again and then look at this more promising again maybe next tuesday, a better shot at some rain across the entire bay area. but it is going to be a beautiful day. rainfall totals than it for through the weekend could be up to almost 2 inches in santa rosa. according to this forecast model and across the south bay negligible. so we see precipitation outlook from the climate prediction center suggests slightly above normal

37 minutes, antioch to 2.42. darya. james, back to you. thanks a lot. it is 6.31. and classes are canceled this weekend. ab laos school because their copper wire was stolen over the weekend. they cut the power it can't power the classroom. so the school now is facing a pretty pricey bill to make those repairs. >> the district already considering merging some campuses to help close a budget deficit. this was the last thing the news makes things worse. kron four's philippe djegal has more. >> no school this week. that is what is written on signage at the gates leading into solano. we demand leadership academy in vallejo. classrooms are empty and so were the plain fields as the entire school was forced to take monday off. thinking at least the week we're hoping it shorter and indoor basketball tournament scheduled saturday was canceled once organizers noticed the electricity was not working. turns out vallejo city unified school district

spokesperson selena bag says sometime between friday night and early that morning thieves broke in stole copper wire from the power grid, cutting electricity off for the entire kindergarten through 8th grade campus. the vallejo police department is investigating. these are children and it's just disappointing that that somebody would do this to a school where these kids did nothing, didn't it didn't deserve bag. says initial repair quotes range from 150 to $250,000. students took monday off while teachers prepared at the school district's headquarters on mare island for independent learning plans starting tuesday, baggy out says the school district is committed to making the repairs and reopening the school declining enrollment and money problems have led the district to consider closing or consolidating some campuses. but bag yell says the leadership academy is not on the chopping block but could eventually take in students from another campus down the

road. yes, we will do their hair stand. we are working really hard and on in a statement, the vallejo city unified school district's superintendent ruben aurelio says, quote. >> we are deeply saddened and frustrated that this has happened again to one of our schools. these incidents disrupt, learning and negatively impact our families and the entire school community. >> in valais home, philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> 6.33 is the time. and in the east bay, richmond, police have concluded a months-long t% investigation now into narcotics dealing and illegal firearms. it began back on september of 2024 while patrolling the area of shields read where community members have complained of drug sales. officers found a jeep with 5 people inside one being a minor in possession of 33 grams of marijuana. another person on probation and a search found 2 loaded guns, one of which was reported stolen the next day officers searched the home that that jeep was parked in front of and that's where they found. they say more guns and drugs

by january 5 other homes in that neighborhood were also searched for more illegal drugs and weapons. 3 more people were arrested. san francisco police meanwhile, have arrested 218 people along the city's troubled 6 street corridor over the past 30 days. it's all part of san francisco police's drug market corridor center. a partnership with other city departments to address street conditions and crime in the tenderloin and south of market neighborhoods of the recent arrests, 124 were for drug-related offenses. 36 were for outstanding warrants and 18 were for assault. 40 were for other crimes. mayor daniel lurie has pledged to make dma double c a 24 7 operation. >> gilroy police need help to find this armed robber who you can see here aimed a gun at a cashier and then made off with money. this was around 3 in the morning on thursday at the garlic farm centers, which is

a long one on ones travel park circle on the on ramp there in the east bay, oakland, mayoral candidate loren taylor is gone, says open city hall plan and small business in downtown retail revitalization plan as well on acts. he called on city leaders to fully open city hall to boost the city's performance and efficiency and help small businesses and the downtown corridor. >> santa rosa police are pitching the idea of adding drones to their force to help in emergency situations. the santa rosa police chief says that the point drones like this would significantly cut down on response times, it would make a big difference. he says when lives are at risk. >> and right now it takes us on average of 6 minutes. and 31 seconds for an officer to arrive on scene to a priority. one call perfect example we get a call of a shooting or stabbing at one of our local parks within 90 seconds to 2 minutes that drone could be overhead and it's still taking

on average the officer, another 4 and a half to 5 minutes to arrive on the scene. so during that crucial time, that gap between the drone arriving in the officer, we now have a live stream event or not. we're able to see our suspects fleeing the scene. >> well, officers also say the drones would be useful during natural disasters like wildfires. not everybody's in favor of the idea. some say they're worried these drones could be used to spy on people. in response. the police department says the straws would only be used for emergency situations and never for random surveillance. well, as people in southern california work to rebuild after the devastating fires, a new bill would allow them to sue major oil and gas companies for damages the affordable insurance and climate recovery act alleges that the fossil fuel industry has contributed to climate change, causing natural disasters like the la fires. it would let natural disaster victims and insurance companies bring lawsuits against major companies in that industry. san francisco state senator scott wiener who
