9:01 am
in the 40's, some in the 30's still. even if they're below freezing, the warm-up really nicely areas this afternoon will be in the 50's and even this 60's 60 in hayward, 59 degrees in vallejo. and 56 degrees is the forecast high for san francisco. >> so it's going to be beautiful. high pressure has been reigning supreme. >> and that will change. and after it breaks down, we'll start to see some rain approaching california. it will be especially rainy in northern california. the question is how far south as it get for significant rain. i think everyone across the bay area will see a few drops mostly in the north bay will sort it all out in a little bit right now all right. kathy, thank you for that what we've been dealing with in our 9 o'clock hour. still a lot of busy highways out there like 85 88 e travel to oakland. >> well, maybe the south bay, you're seeing a lot of delays, a 90 minute ride into the city on no accidents on our ridges. a lot of people traveling in the high was a slow them down. 21 for the san mateo bridge wire richmond center fell is

janitors. i agree with trump. mass deportation plans. i think it's a necessary step that this country is taking in regards to the mass deportation and specifically in regards to san francisco here in the city. >> i do think that the scare tactic is something. that. mr. trump is banking on and i'll be honest with you. i think that is working in some sectors site. i have heard that some folks are afraid going to work, sending their kids to school and maybe even giving up. and and going back to where they came from. >> bill, hang is a university of san francisco professor and is also part of the university's immigration and deportation defense clinic. he says the clinic is getting a lot of phone calls from undocumented immigrants. worried about these mass deportation threats. agents also spotted sunday. it a

target parking lot in san jose. according to the rapid response network. now we're expecting to hear from those city leaders and union leaders at 11 o'clock this morning here on city hall steps behind me. and we're hoping to hear what planning to do to take more action, demanding justice. back to you. all right. thank you, joey. >> 904, is the time. and also happening today, the city of millbrae set to hold a vote of no confidence against a controversial san mateo county sheriff christina corpus. and this is just the latest wave of actions that have been taken against the sheriff in recent weeks. >> kron will tran is live in millbrae with more. well. >> the millbrae city council, they will vote tonight at 7 o'clock whether or not to issue confidence or no confidence for embattled san mateo county sheriff christina corpus. we believe that more than likely the fact that they're even holding this vote they don't need to. but it's on the agend we believe it probably will be a no confidence vote, which
9:06 am
signifies that the walls are starting to close in on the embattled sheriff now was going to happen moving forward is the voters will get to decide on march 4th, whether or not they want to give the power to 5 county board of supervisors to ultimately make the decision on whether or not she stays on the job that she's been accused racism, homophobia, nepotism, abuse of power. while as sheriff, she denies all of those allegations. should the voters to decide whether or not the supervisors will have the final say. well, according to kris corpus as well as their attorney, they believe that does not bode well as far as the county charter. the county charter does not allow it. they say to have a special election in march instead for november of 2026, which basically buys are more time in office. according to the county supervisors and their
9:07 am
attorneys, they say that window for her too, filed her claim to stop this from happening. that window has closed. and to the point where the ballots have already been mailed out. so it looks like it's going to happen again. we will be at the hearing tonight at 7 o'clock to see whether or not millbrae will say yes or no. as far as no confidence for the embattled chairman. >> 906, and a nice baby coalition for community engagement is calling on alameda county supervisors to reveal attorney general rob bonta's pick for district attorney, former alameda county da pamela price was recalled in this group is demanding transparency for political endorsements. lobbying for bond candidate and they're holding a news conference today at 2 outside the justice building. new this morning, the hayward city council is holding a work session to hear comments and input on plans to relocate the
9:08 am
capitol corridor rail service and eliminate the hayward station in november. there was a meeting where the capitol corridor joint powers authority certified the environmental impact report on the project. that doesn't mean that this is a final decision. if the plan goes through, then the rail service would move the railroad closer to san francisco bay shoreline and bypass without replacing the services hayward station on the clinton avenue will tell you what happens. >> all right, 907, is the time. and it'll soon be harder to get away with speeding in san francisco because the city is going to be stalling. 33 new speed camera with the goal of slowing down drivers. kron 4 sarah stinson has more. >> these cameras are being installed. a san francisco comes off its deadliest year of traffic crashes in the last decade. i spoke with street safety advocates at walk sf who say speed is the number one cause of deadly crashe and they're hopeful these cameras will prevent more deaths. >> speeding drivers will soon
9:09 am
be caught on camera in san francisco. sfmta is installing speed cameras at 33 locations across the city last year. there were 42 people killed in traffic crashes in san francisco. that was the worst in a decade. and so the speed cameras can't really get on the ground soon enough. this map shows where the cameras will be with at least 2 in each district and 7 in the south of market neighborhood lindsay with walk sf says they recently visited one of the locations on ala many boulevard where they measure drivers going. 48 miles per hour in a 30 zone. yll of the locations make a ton of sense. if you look at how the city chose these its base on very high crash rates, high-speed issues. they you know, they went out and tested all of these. the cameras will snap photos of rear license plates of vehicles driving 11 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit. then the registered owner will receive a citation in the mail ranging
9:10 am
from 50 to $500 depending on the speed. lindsey says the best way to avoid a fine is to slow down. there's going to be plenty of signs around that show where these by speed cameras are. so this isn't going to be any sort of gotcha experience. and again, this is to change behavior. it's not to make money. sfmta has put up 8 billboards warning drivers of the cameras coming this march saying obey the speed limit. permanent signs will also be placed at 30 major city entrances that say traffic laws in san francisco are photo enforced and crews were seen monday afternoon installing new speed limit signs on gary street speed cameras work and they don't just work in sunriver zone. they work in preventing severe and fatal traffic crashes. once the speed cameras are up in march. sfmta plans to issue warning notices to speeding drivers for the first 2 months. then the fines will be mailed out after that. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in san francisco back to.
9:11 am
>> well, 9.10 is the time new san francisco mayor matt, our daniel lurie, i should say, is attacking the city's fentanyl crisis head-on. fact today he's going to start on a series of public events highlighting his fentanyl state of emergency ordinance. the legislation is going to be heard at the board of supervisors, budget and finance committee on wednesday today, though he's going to be speaking at a rally at city hall at 11 30 and then around 02:00pm. he'll make his monthly appearance at the board of supervisors. and don't forget that be to leave between now and then he's going to be here in our studios. the mayor has agreed to come on set at 10 o'clock at about 10, 40 our time and have a one-on-one interview. going to talk to him about his fentanyl crisis and what they're hoping to do to fix that and other issues, too. so make sure you tune in. >> its 9.11 and still ahead on the kron. 4 morning news closing for good. the message from the san jose restaurant that was hit by repeated break-ins. and leo school is
9:12 am
shut down for this whole week because of what thieves stole from the campus.
9:13 am
9:14 am
>> and what a beautiful start to the day. that freeze warning is now expired. the frost advisory now is expired. we're starting to warm up in many areas are above freezing, not everywhere, but most areas now are in the 30's and 40's. it will be in the 50's and 60's this afternoon. in fact, our 3 day forecast shows a lot of chilly mornings and a lot of sunshine clouding up, though, that more on thursday. and then we're starting to see a pattern change. but for now, high pressure is in control.
9:15 am
you can see all these clouds arching up and over. high pressure is like a big mountain. those clouds and the rain staying away from us for now. but we need rain, don't we? drought in southern california, drought in central california. and if we don't get rain, we will be in the drought category in no time. well, guess what? there's rain coming toward california toward northern california and maybe toward us. so here we go on friday, it looks like we've got some rain heading sinking southward. >> and the dividing line is around golden gate, maybe a little bit of rain. also south of the golden gate. but most of that rain, what is going to fall north of the golden gate and a northern california. another chance of rain coming in on tuesday. so you can see the storm door is open. we get precipitation, which is great news for us now. did i mention is in northern california that oh, yes, i did. and this tells the story. we see as much as what, 3.4, 3 in eugene, 6.6, 6 in mendocino depends on where
9:16 am
you are and you get to san francisco. maybe 2 tenths of an inch of rain out of this point southward of that. we're counting in just a few hundredths of an inch. so if you could be in the north bay and santa rosa to point to 6 inches of rain through sunday, if you're going to be in san francisco, 2 tenths of an inch, if you're going to be in mountain view, santa fe, 1, 1, 100th of an inch. so my goodness, it really depends on where you are, because it just a few miles north or south makes a big difference. and also storm itself could sag a little bit further south or north, and that can make a huge difference in our rainfall accumulations. the climate prediction center does say we're looking for whether the normal precipitation through february 6th, rana. >> one march road in menlo park. so things are still pretty slow as you're traveling along the peninsula and the south bay. look at our highways still covered red to 80 one on one. and 85 certainly still seeing delays.
9:17 am
15 minutes traveling into the city right now on the bay bridge while around 17 on the salmon tale. so all those are dropping just a bit. those high wages do just as busy 40 minutes over the east bay, saint landry to 37. and let's get a look at 80 walking down towards the maze. you start to build soon as you hit richmond. but now it's about a 23 minute right there. all right, james, back to you. >> governors and losers with our finance place >> lag and what's going on the markets right now, rob? >> bit of a after yesterday. nvidia dropped 17% or 600 billion dollars of value which is size of exxon mobil. one day as china introduce stuff, i competitor that use less power. plus psl, big, tough day for a broadcom or coal nuclear power companies going try to take advantage to say i power play, but we are today. so it's nice and earnings this meta, microsoft, tesla and apple. so we're kind of the heart of things right now. just a quick curve ball,

9:19 am
stealing. i companies can afford to take the last 55% of generation z and 49%. millennials say that usually are stolen last year. >> wow. recruitment at. >> there something that could be done about that as far as enforcement? i don't know how to prove or disprove or what companies might do. >> i think some of the newer counts if there's a history tulsa down. usually now send your pictures of your package on your doorstep. so trying to say, no, that's not gonna cut it. i just wanted to be kind of interesting and make even worse. it's moguls that make over $100,000 a year while it's the rich millennials and the rich generation z who are fine with additional shoplifting. yeah. all right. >> i did a little searching myself because i don't have to ask you everything. and i did search and the gulf of mexico is still on apple anyway. my apple maps. it hasn't been changed. >> yeah. google says that they are going to change the gulf of mexico, gulf of america. soon as the u.s. government proves to push through
9:20 am
paperwork. so that's kind of fascinating. i love google maps, by the i think that when the coolest apps in the world and you can literally zoom in anywhere on the planet and the so house. >> about the only one that still gets messed up. like what you want me to take a right here or i'm never really sure. >> i just it's gotten better get another chance. it has little bit what's going whats with the super bowl bets. i know that people are >> spending plenty of money as we approach a super bowl. now that we know the contenders. yeah. and it's gonnae a fun super bowl because kelsey homes. we get our clean, state >> about one end cheapest section 649 your way up in the nosebleeds $5346 on stub hub. similar on ticketmaster. same section $7200 shop around one seat behind the philly benches going for $56,925. 2 seats. just a couple rows up. are going for 25,000. so virtual

steel, virtual bargain buy into instead of one. and a couple rows up to how people have. i don't know people this kind of money while that that's for the tickets. but then there's like the betting industry, which is just exploded. >> yeah, i'm going to a longer story on draftkings and how well they're doing. yeah. they're bigger than a lot of casinos now >> las vegas, the americans spent 140 140 billion dollars spending on sports in 2024. a staggering number. i don't know what the percentage winners and losers and payouts are. but something tells we've got more losers than winners out and i'm i'm just keeping my eye on the commercials as we'll start to like here a little bit more about what's >> going for the commercials. i saw a little harry met sally teaser. i don't know what that's going to be to see that. no, i haven't seen it yet, but i'll get there. i got a couple weeks well. you probably watch for the game. i just watch for the commercials and the halftime show. >> okay. wait. one more thing on the pocketbook dry says i
9:22 am
didn't think they could get higher. and i don't know if you're track higher or lower. i paid $14 for a dozen eggs in lake tahoe. that's crazy. i have a choice. okay. we'll and to more expensive than ever. we've had 3 years in a row. bird flu hitting different states. >> any time one bird gets the flu, they all havefto be massacred on that supply is limited because if you are chickens out there or it's great source of protein that's usually done pretty cheap to man during the holidays, christmas and easter prices a little bit higher. doesn't nationally is selling for 7.27, great. a large x 7, 0, it so intense. the average last 5 years has been $2.10 while asked year we have a low of 2.50. so we got from to 50 in one year all the way to $7 quarter since late. california also has the key mandate, which precious little higher.

when we moved to the states, i kind of had no cultural identity. and i just immersed myself in the music. smoking was sort of synonymous with being cool. that is just not a life i want to show my daughter. i don't want her to ever be controlled the way that i was. but she's not interested. she doesn't associate smoking with being cool.

9:30 am
well, if you think that's right, you're absolutely right. it is hazy, but we're going to warm things up a little bit from the 30's into the 40's all the way up to the 50's and 60's. so here's the haze, good air quality in some locations and moderate in others. high pressure is in control. that acts as a bit of a lift. so it's a little bit of an inversion, but high temperatures this afternoon in the 50's and 60's as warm as 63 degrees. that's in san jose and we are going to see some interesting things. so first of all, continue with chilly mornings all the way through thursday. so if you thought it was cool this morning, you'll see similar situations every morning, all the way through thursday. and we're going to see mostly sunny skies, dry conditions through at least mid week. we'll cloud things up when it comes to about thursday or so. and then it gets interesting. we'll have rain in the northern california rain in the north bay and then how much rain to get south of the golden gate is a little bit iffy. here comes the store and you can see we've got because of the rain line just around the bay area just around the golden gate. so parts northward, very
