getting better better by the minute. i know im proving pretty quickly this morning. and that's okay with us as we move our way into the weekend. >> got all the rainfall out of the way. it seems like just yesterday. >> we've got a lot of it out of the way, too. let's look outside san jose area. that's a pretty recent showers. within the past hour. really starting to clear up for you this year and is still looking at some lingering snow fall this morning. that is something that will complicate your travel up into the high country the next few hours as it is still very windy and snowy up there. the bay area watch for some wet spots on the roads. but overall, new rainfall at this point is pretty diminished. current temperatures are in the 40's to low 50's with 51 right now in battle at 52 petaluma city at 48 degrees. looking ahead at our afternoon, we will be seeing daytime highs in the 50's staying a little breezy today. so if your valentine's day plans involved heading out to the coastline, just know that winds will be a factor

out there, all right, john, thank you for storm yesterday, leaving some issues behind of overnight rockslide. >> along southbound 1, 1, rodale avenue. they still have rocks in the lanes and they're still working try to get that clear in sausalito. if you are traveling, you can already see things are starting to slow down along. southbound want to one bridges and highways are still covered in that water. so it's a slippery morning. drive out there. 15 minutes. san mateo bridge. you've been pretty slow. we had a stalled out. truck is there on the bridge. we're going to try to get them off. it's moved up a little further down, but we're still at about 30 minutes there. a richmond center fell. you're at 10 while golden gate bridge put you at 30 minutes. all right, james, back to you. all right. well, the roads look a lot better. rain of a flooding and there's still a flood watch in effect right now in several counties up north, including sonoma. yeah, we have kron 4, stephanie rothman with a closer look up in santa rosa. >> rain turning roads slick throughout sonoma county on thursday, including in downtown santa rosa.

little is south of where she was there. this is in marin county, ann, a rock slide. chp posting this picture. this is one on one southbound south of rodeo. and you can see the big mess that it made blocking the lanes there because of all the rocks and the dirt and the crews went out quickly to clear away the debris and they were working on it. they were thought 08:00am would be the estimated time to reopen those lanes. wet roads result in a lot of crashes. and this happened all around the bay in this is the south bay where a person ended up in the hospital and there's the emergency response to it as the car flipped onto its roof. pacheco pass in santa clara county and crews had to pry open the car just to get the person out. we're not sure of their condition this morning. >> 704 is the time we have some new details this morning about those 3 college students that died in the tesla cybertruck crash in piedmont. the alameda county sheriff's office has released a toxicology report revealing that the driver and the 2 passengers who died were under

council members are stepping up now to try to keep fire stations open. >> and reopen in oakland. yeah, this is the city's trying to close a huge budget gap. kron four's. sara stinson takes a closer look at what they're proposing. >> when the news first broke that there were 6 slated closures of fire stations in oakland due to our budget crisis. the community rally we heard from thousands of oakland residents, petitions, rallies and now a new proposal from 3 oakland council members to keep fire stations afloat if approved, the new ordinance would reopen to shuttered fire stations. >> and prevent the closure of 4 others. fire stations. 25 28 are currently closed, at least through june as a part of the city's effort to close in more than 200 million dollar budget deficit in this budget situation where we really have to take a step back and ask ourselves, what can the city do? >> and i think we all understand that public safety

seeing some pretty major flooding in this storm. in fact, san jose firefighters had to respond to this island in the middle of the guadalupe river where 2 people, 2 dogs and 4 puppies were all trapped. and these are some pictures of them safely rescued. not exactly sure how they got out there on the island, but they're all fine. now. in fact, animal control is helping to care for those animals. also in santa clara county, look at this. there's a storm caused the uber-rich creek in gilroy to spill out overran avenue. plus a tree in the santa cruz mountains came down just outside of cupertino pg. e says power outages were caused by that downed tree. there's a lot of cleanup that's got to be done as you can see flooding in their underground vaults. 2 vaults. that was a problem at one point in the morning pg e was reporting 8,000 customers without power in the south bay. that number has dropped to less than 2000 or did by noon because of some technology they employ that was able to isolate those outages.

>> what that does is isolates locations that have damage so that the rest of the community around they are able to go back online and then just a limited number of people will without power while we make a repair and restore. >> so a lot of rewriting of the grid there to get people back power pg e is recommending a course have extra batteries and flashlights. if you do experience an outage, at least you can find your way around if you are using a generator. remember, do your research and make sure you're using the correct make and model make sure using it appropriately. you don't want cause problems. check out this mudslide blocking san jose road in santa cruz county. >> giant rocks as part of the mud and debris there. the chp has to clean up and they say if you do see something like this, reported it immediately because can you imagine coming across that in the dark? so writes, it was reported and then they could stop people.

>> it's county. got the heaviest rainfall out of it in the what in the bay area. i mean, we were in excess of 6 inches of rain up there for a lot of the santa cruz mountains. so those mudslides, the high water levels. certainly not a surprise from all that mount tam you saw over 4 inches of rain over the past. 48 hours, senior fellow for 3 while oakland around 2 and a half inches of it. so definitely some pretty impressive rainfall totals over a short period of time right here. nice to also be drying out. now, give that chance the ground, the chance to start to absorb more this instead of an all running off into the bay area. we do still have some snowfall up in the sierra nevada. just a few additional inches today. a winter storm warning is still in effect up there. if you are heading that direction, improved conditions for getting outside for the bay. still some wet spots on roads still some wet spots on roads after some lingering showers radar, things have cleared out really nicely. and today should actually be fairly quiet. future cast does show still some snow in the sierra on up into the afternoon. if you are heading that

direction, just bring the chain controls and make sure to give yourself plenty of time getting there. hopefully before sunset tonight, we will be seeing winter storm warnings in effect through 10:00pm this evening. rest of the weekend looking absolutely gorgeous up there in the mountains. as far as we go here in the bay. still some flooding concerns up around the santa rosa area with a flood warning just west of santa rosa in effect through saturday night. temperatures are going to be mild. but with those winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour, i. will have a brisk feel to it. so those 50's should be accompanied by a jacket as you do venture out for your valentine's plans today, even with some nice peeks of sunshine into the afternoon. tomorrow will see the return of 60's as we will as well on sunday and for much of next week, the really the only chances of rain we have is a slim chance of a morning sprinkle on sunday and even slider chance of showers on wednesday.

>> mudslide lives like this one from overnight still blocking the lanes along southbound. want to one after a dale avenue. and we also have a little minor traffic collision right behind that. probably because traffic is slowing down in that area because of that rock slide. so they're working to try to get them off of the highway. right now. we know at least 2 lanes are impacted. they've been trying to get that off before 08:00am that may or may not happen. keep a close eye on that of a bridge coming right now. remember slick wet conditions out there. so 15 minutes on the bay bridge this morning. if you're traveling there, san mateo bridge has been very slow because we actually had astana out truck there. it looks like they were able to get the off of the highway. so we're still at about 31 minutes. if you're traveling northbound to 38, the connector ramp to and cilantro. we had a traffic accident there. they shut down the lazy opened them again. they shut him down again. i would just say avoid this area that connector ramp, maybe misiion boulevard until they're able to get that completely cleared off the highways. one of the south bay about 33 minutes. 85 up to

>> we're back at 7.25. in the north bay, santa rosa. police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted a girl in a movie theater. so take a look at your screen. this is the sketch that police provided. the assault happened at the roxy stadium. 14 theater in san ramon or i should say in santa rosa last summer. it wasn't reported, though, until november because of the trauma associated with it. the victim, a teenage girl apparently watching a movie when she went to use the bathroom in the suspect, followed her into the lobby holder to the ground and assaulted her. police tried to locate evidence but they were unable to identify the suspects. so they put the

>> guys, good morning yet. right now 2 lanes are still shut down here on highway 101, southbound traffic looks like it's moving along pretty smoothly here. but further down the road about a mile and a half away, it's backed up and is stop and go moving at a snail's pace here in the area all the way back to marin city and here's why you can see there is a right here that they've chopped up that had fallen down into the roadway, came off the mountain because of the last slide there still scooping up the dirt right now and rocks as well. one of the issues is that as they continue to scoop that up with a tractor there ordered is continuing to fall down into the highway. just happens over and over. so a big mess here. it's been going on since about 7 o'clock last night making it dangerous for drivers here. this is between spencer avenue in rodeo avenue and chp had highway reduced to just one lane earlier this morning. so they are making some progress because, again, 2 lanes are open now. after all the rain

we got this week, first responders reminding drivers give yourself extra time to get to your destination. we don't know what you might encounter. and here's one example of that. roads are still slick out there this morning. we've encountered some minor flooding earlier. caltrans does not have an estimate on one of the lanes will be back open here again in sausalito. so the cleanup, does continue. and as i said, traffic is backed up for over a mile here all the way from sausalito to moraine city as they continue to clean up this mess. that's the latest here in sausalito. joey horta kron. 4 news. all right. thanks. a lot joy was a saying is like it's a good thing that happened. >> in an area where they can address it because we've seen so many. >> slike slides and heavy rain and wind and road damage closures in all of all over the bay area. this this is at a san francisco, but we've been seeing it all over those gusty winds also ripping through communities.

>> and more dangerous. so expect the expect to see that as you head out there. in fact, officials calling for dangerous waves, possibly about 30 feet along the coast. and that's gonna make it dangerous to be on the water. and there's some video there from the beach yesterday. now where they have the signs up try to warn you to stay away from the water. although a lot of people like surfers, they love kind of thing. >> but the emergency responders say don't do it. >> flood watch in effect through 10:00pm saturday. we're expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain in the forecast in san francisco through friday. we have a high wind warning in effect as well through tomorrow morning. we're expecting 35 to 40 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 70 miles per hour along the coast. it's very windy. >> yeah, it's the wind that's going to get to. and we're just talk about the wind like those kite surfers they like it. but it can be really difficult. and then imagine fighting a fire in that wind and rain. and that's what happened in the east bay. it was a deadly house fire in brentwood and it broke out during a downpour. did

firefighters say they struggled to find the victim in the wet and windy weather kron four's philippe call explains. >> firefighters called for additional resources once they found this home on nicholas court in brentwood on fire. >> and fully involved. i saw fire trucks and everything and iowa all. the poor guy, thousands on fire. initially. the contra costa county fire protection district says the call came in just after 11 o'clock wednesday night. doesn't exterior fire from a caller on a neighboring street. >> only for crews to eventually find flames shooting out of the house. and that's >> so that justin lives across the street from the victim who has been identified by the contra costa county coroner's division. as 69 year-old james fields. justin says he was living alone after his wife recently passed away but was visiting frequently by his granddaughters. it's a old man >> several men with a nice man. well, look, kind
